Wide-eyed and innocent, you stumbled into my world, never knowing the danger that lurked within. The Wolfe's Den is no place for a little lamb, but you came anyway, and from the moment you stepped inside, you were mine.

In my life there are no happy accidents. Every move is carefully orchestrated. Every situation premeditated. That's what makes the hunt so intoxicating. What you need, I become. What you crave, I will give. Except the one thing you desire above all else - love.

Everything I told you is true - I'm not a good man, but you choose what you want to hear. You shouldn't have come that night. Maybe then you'd be safe. But it's too late now. I want you because you remind me of him. I need you to give me back what I lost.

Warning: This is not a love story. It is not a romance. This is an obsessive stalker lust story that contains darker themes that may serve as a trigger to some readers. Shiver is a standalone novel.

➦Ok. I swear, last M/M of the year. lol This read was very interesting. I think I'll remember these characters for a while! They are rather unique. Did I LURVE THEM TO BITS? Not quite. But I found them very intriguing and rather well developed.

➦Ah, the infamous sex club scene. A guy comes in with his friend for a newbie night and catches an eye of the owner of the club, who's this powerful, rich and super sexy dude. He's definitely looking for someone to dominate but there's absolutely no whipping or anything like that in this book. It dealt more with an obsession to.. "own," for the lack of better word.

➦I know a lot of people were not pleased with the ending but I didn't mind it one bit. It facinated me in a creepy way. I remember the last thing I thought was "You, sneaky little shithead!" :D Anyways, if you are looking for an intriguing M/M read that doesn't follow the usual formula and you enjoy a bit of grit and dark themes, then check this one out!

Where to even begin with this one....

I'm not sure what I expected from the story and not sure if any expectations I had were met. I do know that this was a twisted intriguing story. I enjoy a jealous, possessive, Alpha male. In my books. In real life I couldn't deal with it. But here it worked. Even though Tor took it to the extreme with some of the things he did. He definitely crossed the line of creepy and yet I was still fascinated by him. I didn't fall for him or even come to like him. I really don't feel much or anything towards him but sadness. He has a hurt that has defined him and molded who he is and how he lives his life. His confession to Jessie near the end, what he believed, broke a piece of my heart. He's unstable and I feel like that confession was a cry for help.

Wolfe played his part as the hunter to perfection. He did and said all the right things to draw Jessie in. He preyed on his vulnerabilities and fed on his fear. Jessie was a willing victim though. He got swept away by this handsome older man who showered him with attention. He craved the pain Wolfe inflicted on him. He needed to please the man at any cost to his own well being. He was completely consumed by Wolfe and what the man did to him. It was toxic without him knowing. Jesse was indeed the naïve Lamb.

This story isn't about love. There is no romance. There is no HEA. This is a story of man stuck in his past and with an unhealthy sexual appetite. About a young man who trusted too quickly and got swallowed whole by a man he thought he knew only to get a rude awakening to what he had allowed himself to fall into.

I don't really think this book falls into the "dark" area. I didn't find it dark. Twisted and a bit disturbing? Yes. But I thought the authors could have pushed it a bit further. Maybe next time. ;]

Happy reading dolls! xx

4 "Wolf & Little Lamb" Stars

"I had known from an early age that there was darkness in me. Something that wasn’t quite like everyone else. And over the years I had been careful to keep it concealed—until him."

This story was so good, I enjoyed it a lot and it could have been a five star for me if it wasn’t for its ending! I didn’t like the way it ended, I don't like open endings and I need a neat closure. I prefer if it hadn’t the epilogue BUT when I think about it I can’t think of a better ending! Because this story isn’t a love story, it’s about obsession! So yeah, the ending was a perfect one for this book but I still don’t like it!

"You are in danger. I’m dangerous to your peace of mind. To your body. To your every waking hour, if I’m doing my part right."

Jesse was so sweet and naïve, just like a little lamb for his Wolfe! And Wolfe, he was troubled, scary and so obsessive with his little lamb just because he looked like someone he knew long time ago! It's like he's risen from the dead and now Wolfe can have it! I liked that we had his POV, and that’s why I couldn’t hate him! actually, I quite liked him and that’s why I put up with the ending!

Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s a stand-alone novel with a dark theme. It’s well-written and creepy, the characters were so perfect and scary! There is 16 years age gap but it wasn’t palpable! Overall, I enjoyed it and hope you like it as well!

What did I just read?!? And I can't believe we got this ending... There must be a second book or I will be seriously pissed. I am already but, hmm, I still can't deny it really kept my interest. Page turner, yes. But it wasn't dark enough AND I had a Fifty Shades vibe the whole book.

I just can't seem to gather my thoughts. When it comes to explain what I felt while reading this book, I'm a mess. It's also hard to describe this story without giving something away. I really try to keep my reviews as spoiler free as I can, but this one screams SPOILERS! So I should mention that my review will contain spoilers.

Big bad Wolfe was nothing but a possessive and full of himself man, with some stalking addiction. Jesse reminded him of someone from his past so from the moment he saw him, he wanted him.
Wolfe/Tor was very rich but broken. This is where I started to realize he gave me a Christian Gray vibe. He wanted to be the center of Jesse's world, he was a dominant and he had a dark past/secret.

Jesse felt kind of dumb. SO gullible!!! And the endearment "little LAMB" killed me a little more each time I read it. And I've read it too many times. I think I'll never order "lamb meat" in my life without spitting the word.

Well my biggest problem would be: THE ENDING! I would have never picked this one knowing it's so close to a cliffhanger. It's not finished!!! This was not even a HFN! I can't believe I didn't see it coming... The authors DID mention "This is not a love story. It is not a romance." But I thought it was thrown there just to make us curious.

Overall I turned the pages really fast, BUT I was extremely disappointed with the MC's. One was supposed to be the devil and the other is a ... damsel in distress and UGH so clueless.
It reminded me TOO much of Fifty Shades: the first "random" meeting, the chase, the gifts, the BDSM, all those "I'm broken but SO in charge of everything in your life!".

This book is supposed to be a stand-alone, but I strongly feel there should be a sequel.

I admit I was in for the dark part, but this didn't feel dark to me.

❝ He was brutal as he rammed into me harder, one side of my face in the dirt and wet leaves. It should´ve been too much. I shouldn't have enjoyed the feeling of held down, of being helpless beneath such savage dominion, but I was so turned on that I couldn't see straight. ❞

i gagged. a lot. oh my goodness. i love how the blurb said that this book won't be a romance one and i was a bit skeptical with that. i was like are you sure?? i mean there's no way a story shelved as a romance wont be called as a romance. and i'm happy and shocked to say that it was far from romance. clap clap clap this fucking book got me stressed and screaming. in my opinion, jess's side was definitely romance while wolf's was more on possession. i feel like wolfe never really loved him though and that broke my heart a bit. i'm not saying this is what actually happened but more of my personal interpretation. on a better note, the sex was definitely hot. scorching hot. top of the roof hot. lastly, i loved how realistic the ending was. reading the second to the last chapter, i was wondering how these two will wrap up the story and then bam they did that.

"Definitely. It's beautiful."
"Yes. It is."
When my gaze came back to his, I noticed he wasn't looking at the car but directly at me, and the intensity of that stare made my knees feel weak.

this book screams therapy and not one word of therapy was even mentioned. it irks me a bit how some books can only be considered as dark because the characters refrain from going to the right persons.

Genre: Erotic Suspense
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Jesse Clark was young and impressionable. As a recent graduate, he thought he was ready to face the world, but little did he knew the world he was about the be thrown in was not one he prepared for.

Sebastian Wolfe was a predator as his name suggested. Being wealthy and well know in his community, he was used to getting things his way. When he saw sweet, innocent Jesse, he knew he needed to own him by any means necessary.

That was what I wanted to bask in. The innocence. The fear. And the excitement he got from feeling that way. I wanted to revel inside of it, nurture it and comfort it, right before I tore it apart.

I can't help but love the Wolfe. I love characters that stayed true to themselves. He was calculated and knew how to turn a situation to his advantage. And of course a little darkness in him was appealing to me.

I wanted to lay myself down and let him destroy me, and from the glint in Wolfe’s eyes, I knew he wanted to destroy me.

Jesse was the perfect pairing to Wolfe. While I'm not into characters that are too clueless and innocent, Jesse served his purpose in the story.

I like the overall storyline. However I wish some parts of Wolfe's background was explained better. I have to say I love the ending. This is the kind of story that benefited with this kind of ending. Also, the sex scenes were hot, hot, HOT!

My cock hardened in an instant at the wide-eyed curiosity in those eyes. I wanted to draw him to me and defile him right then and there.

Shiver is a story of predator and prey. It would appeal to fans of erotic suspense.

Note:
I love Brayden. I wish there was more of him in this book.

I need more of this 'not a romance' pairing

Firstly can I just say OMG this takes possession to a whole new level and second to that - where's book two?!

If there is to be no book two then this is the ultimate in edging and Ella and Brooke have scaled the heights of how to write a 'not a romance' and then some.

This book is all ends screwed and twisted and brilliantly so. Wolfe is an addiction that takes Jesse into a world he really has no place in going and my apprehension levels were on full alert throughout.

It works so well because you, as the reader, are given a tiny bit more insight, but still not the full picture, and are then drawn through the narrative alongside our clueless hero.

There is an element of convenient plot bunny but it works as a unforeseeable happenstance within the wider story arc, and didn't feel too obvious, and I can't think of many other ways it could have been done without it feeling clumsy.

There's some powerful erotic sex in here, some hugely manipulative behaviour, some elements of the BDSM canon which work in Wolfe/Tor's favour as he pursues his little lamb, and ultimately there's heartbreak, betrayal and obsession as the narrative comes to a surprising end.

I still can't make my mind up how much 'not a romance' this book actually is because it contains a lot of love - of the dark and twisted kind - and I loved it!

But I will agree with other reviewers that it's not a particularly dark book in terms of what happens to Jesse and there are far far darker ones out there if that's your thing.

Well, that was .... interesting.
I have to admit that I was a bit afraid after reading the warning in the blurb and after scrolling through a few reviews. BUT I was positively surprised. It wasn't as bad as some of these reviews made it out to be.
Yes, it's not a real love story. It's a stalkerish, mega erotic ... thing.
But I loved it. The characters are very interesting. One is a stalker who is still guilt-grieving for his long-dead boyfriend and the other one is an extremely innocent and naive little boy with an instant crush. But it works. They're adorable together. Even though it's all very weird and scary and over the top.
And then there's this paranormal 'filter' over it all. It's not paranormal at all. BUT it could be. Wolfe could be a shapeshifter. The mood is very dark/rainy/sinister/dangerous.
But we also have some funny moments. Verrrry erotic moments. Moving moments. Crazy moments. Sweet moments.

Don't be afraid to read it - it's different - but different is good, right? BE BRAVE! ☺☺☺

”the thrill I got out of being alone with him, unbeknownst to him, was electrifying."

I want to start out by saying that I went into this book completely BLIND. Well...not completely blind. I had the synopsis but that's pretty vague, so yeah, basically blind. I was lucky enough to be given an early copy, I had no character names, NOTHING. So, I was beyond excited and my nerves were all over the place. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!!! This book is probably one of the greatest reading experiences I’ve had all year. And I think not knowing ANYTHING actually served a great purpose. You know that thrill you get from watching a scary movie? Not knowing when or where the bad things will happen? Yup, that’s this book.

”I…wanted it. The pain. The pleasure I knew would eventually come. Use me…”

This book isn't rainbows and flowers. It's devious, it's dirty, it's mysterious, and at the same time it's profoundly beautiful. I love when characters challenge me and make me work for their secrets, discovering hidden truths about people is always so gratifying. These characters are SO different from each other. One is beautifully flawed, and the other is so innocent with these disturbing outer layers. It’s amazing to me how much my heart opens up to such depravity.

”I was totally lost. Lost to the darkest depths of my soul over this man, and it was too late for anyone to save me now.”

The writing is knock-out good, and the story itself is addictive and completely consuming! It’s not a romance, but there are definitely some romantic nuances that I LOVED. It’s very stalkery, which is in my opinion, only acceptable in a novel, and this was done PERFECTLY. I might have a thing for stalker behavior. It’s sexy, hot, and holy smokes you will need to go to confession afterwards if you’re into that. So, if you’re in need of an escape from reality THIS BOOK will give you that AND more, SO much more.

”I’d been hard since I flicked the lights off and heard him call my name with a tremble in his voice. Sick. Warped. And dangerous.”

Naive and Curious these are the perfect traits to attract deviant and dominant Salvatore Wolfe. When Salvatore first sees Jesse at his sex club, The Den, he feels like he is looking into the past. He is drawn to Jesse, he wants Jesse...he wants to chase this new toy, a sweet, innocent, pure as snow lamb - a lamb, who he wants to corrupt and Dominate. He wants to OWN Jesse. Salvatore, longs for the thrill of the hunt, the chase, the capture and he wants to destroy Jesse's soul while leaving him longing for more.

Here is the thing. I am OKAY with Salvatore Wolfe! He knows he is fucked up. He admits it several times. He warns Jesse to Run. But Jesse just doesn't listen and then when it gets to real, to sinister, he can't handle it.

There was some minor scenes of delicious darkness in this story. Was it as twisted as it has been proclaimed to be? Heck No. In-fact, just when it started getting good and the real Wolfe comes out to play...the authors pull back! Why?!?! If you are going to write a deviant book...go for it! Don't get scared and stop halfway!!

As this book stands, I was left feeling totally let down. Again, some people's minds can't go to the depraved depths of Dark Romance...that's okay. I just felt like this book was played up to be a dark thriller and It didn't feel that way to me. I would have loved to see Jesse dive a little deeper into Wolfe's world --

To me this story was not Dark. It was a book with a Billionaire who has a sad backstory likes his to get his link on, is a Dominant for sure; The other character is a typical naive counterpart to be corrupted by the big, bad Wolfe.

It had a lot of similarities to other Billionaire Dom stories who fall for the innocent, naive, counterpart (male or female) -

This was intriguing, but personally I think it could have gone much darker. This was pretty fluffy and surface level for a stalker with serious issues!

I think it started out well, with some tension and suspense, but then it just went a bit flat. I didn't feel Jesse's terror, or Salvatore's desperation.

Either I've read so much I'm desensitized, or this just wasn't what it was described as. I guess I expected much more of a sinister story.

The whole D/s thing wasn't really explored that much to show Salvatore's true desires to Jesse, it was more like dipping a toe in to make Salvatore seem more dominant. The threatening behaviour towards anyone else who touched Jesse just didn't come to much either - there was a lot of potential for more darkness in what happened with King and even Brayden for his interference but it was swept away as quickly as it was mentioned.

If it was darker and more in depth I think I'd have really enjoyed this one.

WHAT WAS THIS ENDING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND.. LIKE IT'S DONT EVEN A ENDING IF I HONESTLY THINK ABOUT IT.

I wouldve give this book a 4 star if the ENDING was somehow bearable or understandable but it was all out of league and jumbked. A great story with a twisted end.

Jesse Clark is a recent archeology graduate trying to make ends meet. One night he accompanies his good friend to an exclusive sex club and discovers a completely new world. For Jesse, this one time is enough but unbeknownst to him, he’s been noticed by a man who excels in the hunt.

“He looked like the devil himself lording over hell, but I hadn’t known at the time how tempting that sinful prince would be.”

Salvatore Wolfe is a man of exotic tastes and has the wealth and drive to get what he wants. Upon seeing Jesse in his club, his predatory instincts take over despite his efforts to avoid past mistakes. As a wolf on the prowl, he’s prepared to ensnare his little lamb.

“You have the face of an angel but respond to orders from the devil. That’s a potent combination, Jesse.”

With Salvatore setting his traps, he couldn’t be more pleased by Jesse’s continued willingness to submit to his desires. For Jesse, Salvatore offers a place of safety and his trusting nature becomes a continued temptation. What ensues between these two is quite hot, as Salvatore is dominating in every way.

“I spread my thighs as he moved further down my body, and I used the restraints around my wrists to pull myself up and buck against him as he went. When his lips brushed over the crease of my thigh, I closed my eyes.

Told in dual POV, it becomes immediately apparent that Wolfe is predator with a dark past. As he calculates and manipulates, he can’t hide his true feelings for the little bit of light in his life. While Jesse is much younger than Salvatore and a bit naïve, his character offers a needed balance and a sense of goodness. Knowing Salvatore’s true tastes, the sexual tension of what’s to come is intriguing.

Overall, I enjoyed the predator and prey elements, along with Salvatore’s darker side. I was hoping for more of Salvatore’s past, but what was revealed remained aligned with his character right until the very satisfying end.

Shiver is a story of lust and obsession where boundaries are crossed. This book will appeal to those who enjoy their MM action with some kinkery.

The only thing I don't like is front cover, I can't connect it with story, but this is only my opinion.
I liked the beginning of story. Later came building tensions about their relationship with BDSM acts which really never came out so strong. When you read so much about one thing to happen and than are just "meh".
But I loved ending!!! I was so glad there was no HEA! But not because of Tor and Jesse (I loved their relationship), but because authors had the balls to do it! And because almost every book ends with HEA and this becomes really boring after a while.

This is definitely not a love story with HEA. Although you want to be while reading, you would realize that Wolf's stalking is no longer just blind love, but a real illness. Good reading!

Ohhhhh boooy...this book!!!!

First of all this was a surprise release and I jumped all over it!! Now that I’m finished i can say that hell yes I liked this book..it was very hot of course a little different from what I’ve come to expect from Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine...Shiver is a much darker read. I will say tho ..maybe it’s just me but this book had more than a lot of similarities to Fifty Shades but I didn’t mind at all. Fifty Shades the gay version..Fifty Shades Of Gay LOL ...sign me up plz and thank u!!!!

I was craving some dark books. And this is what I picked. Well, I guess it's not quite 'dark' as I expected. It was odd. Very odd. The sex is dragged. The BDSM stuff is boring. Or maybe it was dragged to build some steam? I don't know. I just don't feel interested.

I rounded up because the suspense keeps me on my toes. That's why I'm sticking till the end. And that was ended in HFN. Or I would say cliffhanger. Is there gonna be a sequel to this book? I would love to read it because I'm not quite settled with that ending.

So I have a thing for creepy stalker romance and this one did not disappoint. I would love more books like this. I know there are reviews that mention needing a second book or it seeming unfinished, while I’d love a continuation to see what happens, my copy had an epilogue that at least gave some insight on where things were headed.

Now this is Try's author that I came to love... I didn't have any luck with both the authors' individual or co-authored books aside from Logan and Tate's but ohmy... I loved this AND I NEED A BOOK 2 NOW... but there wont be one, right? 😭

What you have to know before reading: The story isn't what I expected from reading the blurb. As my friend Jan mentioned in her review, the ride kinda deviated without the passengers knowing. It's like the authors decided not to bring the Dark a-game halfway the story. I would have been pissed if I was totally expecting to read a Dark book. But I kinda wasnt (as I kinda read some spoilers on FB 🙄) so it didnt affect my enjoyment of the story so much. Also, I felt like some parts were rushed...

Both the plot and the characters were kinda predictable (for me at least) but I enjoyed reading them and their development especially Wolfe.

Nevertheless, the book is not anywhere near perfect but it's so addictive that I devoured it in one sitting... totally put me out of my slump.

"I had known from an early age that there was darkness in me. Something that wasn’t quite like everyone else. And over the years I had been careful to keep it concealed—until him."

I guess I'm totally fucked but what I loved the most in this story was the Wolfe himself. What he is... is a sad, troubled, and fucked man. And he knows that. I felt for him so much... Wanna see more of him. Oops...

"That was what I wanted to bask in. The innocence. The fear. And the excitement he got from feeling that way. I wanted to revel inside of it, nurture it and comfort it, right before I tore it apart."

Jesse kinda had some inconsistencies with his personality but who knows... right?

"And it was about then that I knew I was totally lost. Lost to the darkest depths of my soul over this man, and it was too late for anyone to save me now."

I'm probably one of those people who's kinda ok with the ending. I would have loved that ending had there been a book 2 to continue it. Still ok nonetheless...

Thanks for reading my rambling 😂

These authors are correct. This is not a love story. Part of me wanted these two to find some sort of happy ending. I wanted this to get wrapped up nicely by the end to make me feel better. But the authors did the right thing. It would have cheapened the story, as well as went against the characters, to have this all end nicely and sweetly. I really want more to these two interesting characters, but then I think where they ended it is just right. You can conclude your own theory on how things progress. I hope for happy things, even though the real world would not have that be a likely case.

I was glad I read this. It took me a little out of my comfort zone, and I know for many people this might be too much to take. Wolfe is one hundred percent a stalker. It is wrong to romanticize that, which is why I think these authors did right by making what happened towards the end happen. It was interesting to get into Wolfe's head, and I think this story is likely to stick with me for a while. It is well written, very hot in many places, and a true mind f*ck. Read at your own risk!

Once in a while, I come across a story where the love between two characters is so epic that that you can feel their emotions jump right off the pages. If you’re looking for that all encompassing love at first sight and hearts and flowers kind of relationship, then this is not the book for you.

First off, this is a dark read. If you have triggers if any kind then do not read this story. If you’re like me then carry on.

Talk about a mind eff...

Salvatore was the anti-hero and Jesse was definitely his prey. The entire book was like a cat and mouse game where you find yourself rooting for Salvatore and scolding Jesse for his reactions. I don’t want to spoil anything so I have to make this review short, but what I will say is that this book is going to sit with me for a while

Five stars and one of my top reads for 2017!
