HOLY CRAP!! Generally I'm not what you'd call a fast reader BUT I devoured this, inhaled it!!
I think I even broke my own record!! These two characters were perfectly imperfect but perfect together. God how I loved these two!!

They were flawed
They were broken
They were both just looking for acceptance
They were both just looking for love...

It's easy to get sucked into the party life-style, especially when you have more money than you know what to do with it, but it's so much harder to get out of it.

The feels this book took me on were phenomenal!!

Even though this was the first book I've read by this author it definitely won't be the last, because straight after finishing this I one clicked Sordid which also has some great reviews!!

I don't even know where to start with my review!! I have nothing!! My mind is mush, my heart is full!! Normally as I'm reading I'll draft out a review and add to it as I read along, but this book stole my minutes, my hours, my heart. I didn't want to stop reading, I wanted to stay in the moment and that's what I did..So somehow I have to pull a rabbit out of a hat and write up a review!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

fark it I'm not even going to attempt writing up a review to how I normally would because I could never give this book the justice with my words alone..Just come release day don't hesitate to one click..

Weak boy wallowing in self-pity and sinking in booze, drugs and women.
He not only f*cked countless OWs while knowing the heroine, but continued to do it after they had sex and were separated for 3 months, and even the night after they met again.
What a gem! Amazing!
She had a crush on him for ages, threw herself on him before her accident, but he chose OW to have sex with, and despite all things he did, she still wanted him.
A match made in heaven!

“You can’t have me.”
"That’s what you think. But I know the truth. We’re inevitable.”

This book... THIS BOOK! I honestly never thought it'd be possible for me to love Pierce and Lindsey as much as I love Spencer and Olivia from Clandestine: A Novel but it has happened.
Ava Harrison has soon become one of my favourite authors. She always finds a way to create perfectly imperfect, HUMAN characters. I completely and utterly fell in love with Explicit. It sucked me in from the very beginning, and I simply couldn't get enough.

description

Pierce Lancaster is a cocky, sexy, swoony, broken man. He's the black sheep of the family, an outcast. The one his brothers and everyone else sees as a careless, irresponsible, spoiled boy. He's not, though. Pierce 's got his fair share of issues and demons. He is flawed, damaged, lost and tends to lose himself in alcohol, drugs and women. My heart broke for him so many times. I L O V E HIM.

“At first, getting her to acknowledge my existence was a challenge. Now it's a full-on obsession. Getting under her skin and breaking her resistance.”

Lindsey Walker is a recovering party girl. She's been physically and emotionally broken, but she's never given up. She is beautiful, fierce, sassy and so, oh so fucking strong. Her spark and sass was empowering and refreshing. It balanced completely with her vulnerabilities. She is, hands down, one of my favourite heroines, ever. Lindsey knows she has to stay away from Pierce and his self-destructive behaviour, but simply she can't.

description

Pierce and Lindsey 's journey is breathtaking. Their chemistry is, instant, and so, oh so fucking hot. They have so much in common, even if they're both too vulnerable to acknowledge it. Pierce finally feels like she understands what he's going through. Together they aren't so alone anymore and can heal each other. Their relationship is full of such emotion, joy, tears, and sometimes heartbreaking pain. These two are beautifully flawed and broken. I wanted more and more and M O R E of them.

“She calms me, she gives me peace, and I want to bask in the feeling and never leave.”

description

Explicit is a heart-wrenching, emotional, sexy, heartbreaking romance. It is filled with twists and angst that will make you cry, laugh, swoon and fall in love with Pierce and Lindsey's story. It will make you feel all the fucking feels. Even though, I absolutely loved Clandestine: A Novel, I have to admit that Explicit is now my favourite novel of Ava Harrison's so far.
I highly, highly recommend this book.

This was my first book by Ava Harrison, and I honestly wasn't impressed.

The story begins very fast, the characters have sex kinda immediately, they already know each other before, but then things go backwards.
Lindsey is a character I didn't like. She wants to be strong but keeps on complaining about her not being perfect, due to an accident she had that left her with many scars and damaged her leg. She keeps on judging Pierce cause he's a drugs and alcohol addicted, but she's been there before, so it's kinda egotistical to judge him for that, when it's clear people can change (as she did herself, too).
Pierce in the end was the character I liked the most. I didn't like how he put himself through drugs and alcohol to escape the problems with his family, but I liked the way he changed himself, the fact he was an artist and how he stood up for Lindsey protecting her from everything and everyone else.

Another thing I didn't like was that the author didn't mention how they met, just said they had friends in common and used to live the same life. I would've loved to read more about their pasts and how they got to know each other. Sex scenes wasn't the best either. It seemed like they were written really fast and with not so many details. I would've liked to read more about that consuming passion and love between them, instead it's been like reading speedy-sex scenes with not so many emotions involved.

At 85% the book became better, thanks to some tragic events that made me turn the pages faster, so that's why I gave it 3 stars. This will not interfere with the fact I'll read more about this author, cause I know she's written very good books, and if I didn't like this one it doesn't mean I wouldn't give her another chance.
Just maybe this wasn't for me, that's all.

All the feels in one book! I started out wanting to stab both Lindsey and Pierce in the eyeball with a fork, however, that soon faded to love. I loved both flawed broken characters so much!! This author has a way of putting two broken souls together, shaking them up, and making them whole once more. The angst, the lust, the love, the anger, this book gives it all to you. A beautiful story, so well written it's flawless in it's execution. This story is told in dual pov.

***AVAILABLE NOW - FULL REVIEW***

I’ve been waiting for Pierce’s book since the Lancaster brothers have been introduced. Ava Harrison delivered a story that is angsty and sexy, completely meeting every expectation I had.

Pierce has been the outcast, the black sheep for the entire series, and so I already had a soft spot for his character. Seeing his journey and finding his HEA, makes his story my favorite of the whole series.m

Lindsey is my favorite type of heroine because she is a fighter. No matter what happens to her she doesn’t let it keep her down, and women like this earn my respect. It also made me feel like she was worthy of my favorite Lancaster brother, an absolute perfect fit.

Ava Harrison took absolutely everything that I love about romances and put it into one story. We have broken and flawed characters and insane chemistry. We connect to them because they want what we all want, to be loved and accepted. Their journey is angsty and emotional and at times gut wrenching, but I couldn’t put it down.

Ava Harrison has delivered her best work to date with a captivating story, a swoon worthy black sheep hero, and and heroine I adore. It is a must read.

Pierce and Lindsey’s journey is one full of ups and downs. It is one that is complex, emotional and heartfelt. They both suffered feeling broken, of the feelings from what they felt was their families neglect, with the pain and heartbreak. Pierce is considered the black sheep of the family- the one his brothers pass over every time for they believe him to be a waste. What Pierce is , is a man full of demons and of pain. He knows he can contribute but since his family refuses to see anything good about him, he suffers in silence and lets the bitterness build. Pierce has known Lindsay for some time. She used to be quite the party girl but she is improved from what she used to be. Lindsay knows for her own wellbeing she needs to stay far away from Pierce’s brokenness but yet somehow they keep being pulled into the same orbit, being put together and soon that togetherness is what brings this broken couple together. They are seeing each other more than they ever saw anyone else in their lives. Their ups and downs , their rollercoaster emotional relationship is one of the best things about this story. The feelings in this story are raw, gritty and come together as so real. There are some twists in this story that I didn’t see coming but WOW, what an amazing story and couple to have this occur with. It will bring forth every emotion, every feeling, every smile and every tear when reading. What you get is two beautifully flawed people who have this gritty , raw and real relationship. I don’t want to say anymore without giving the story away- just know this is a MUST READ!!!

I know they say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but let’s ignore that for a moment and take in the yummy goodness that is this book cover. My bookshelf is full right now, but I’m certain I could make room for Pierce and his all-around sexiness! My goodness this cover is exquisite.

Pierce may be the baby of the Lancaster brothers, but there certainly is no shortage of swoon worthy manliness where he is concerned. Considered the black sheep of the brothers, Pierce does whatever he can to gain the attention of his overachieving, successful family. He doesn’t share their desire and need to make it big in Corporate America, but that doesn’t mean he lacks passion of his own.

Lindsey knows firsthand what it’s like living life estranged from your family. She is troubled and feels beat down by life, but that doesn’t mean she’s weak. Lindsay suffers through a terrible incident and although it changed the course of her life, she came out stronger and better for it. I admired her drive and determination. Pierce and Lindsay have so much in common, it’s right in front of them but they’re both too vulnerable to recognize it. These two are beautifully flawed and broken. They feel invisible to their families, but their need to feel loved and accepted is overpowering.

Pierce and Lindsey complement each other in ways they never imagined. This was a heartwarming tale of two misunderstood souls coming together to find a balance of love and peace in a world that continues to challenge their choices in life.

Ava captures Pierce and Lindsey’s journey together with heart, determination and honesty. They both must learn to trust again and that doesn’t come without it’s challenges. Ava shows us what it’s like to be human, to accept others for all their broken pieces and to celebrate the good in each of us.

Um. So yeah. I honestly don't know where to begin with this review. How to fully sum it all up. I am BLOWN AWAY by this book. Legitimately speechless. Ava Harrison has written her BEST book yet and one that easily will sit on my top reads of the year list.

This book is STUNNING. From the connection, to the emotion, to the intensity, to every bloody word being written with the up most care and attention, I couldn't get enough! This book sucked me in. It blazed it's way into my heart! Ava's words always leave me breathless but this book. WOW! Just WOW!!!!

Ava is the best at writing beautiful, broken females. Lindsey is easily my new favourite heroine of Ava's. Her sass and spark was sexy and empowering and it was balanced PERFECTLY with her weakness and vulnerabilities. She's honestly just a beautiful character!

Pierce Lancaster! OH MY GOSH! I cannot. I mean where to begin. I LOVE HIM! LOOOOOOVE HIM! He's my new favourite hero of Ava's. He's broken, damaged, an outcast, a man so, so lost but he's actually INCREDIBLE. His inner, inner strength makes him shine! He's cocky and infectious, sexy and swoony AF! I fell in love with him. He has my heart!

Seriously when I said this book was my favourite of Ava's I meant it. She's written my favourite story, with my favourite characters. I have LOVED all of Ava's past books, I've seen her writing go from strength to strength but there is something incredibly special about Explicit. Something that shoots Explicit higher than any other Ava Harrison book. There are not enough words to fully explain it to you or not enough stars to really express my love for it. I urge you to read this book! Explicit is UNMISSABLE!

Well tickle my pickle comrades I have said it before and I will say it again; these emotional reads are flipping kicking my rear left and right. I am obviously a creature of punishment because the puddle of tears and the amount of swoonage one person can withstand has been measured. Explicit kicked my ass.

The sear writing style of Harrison really did me in. I went into this thinking I would be swooning, melting off my seat, maybe even some jilling session inspiration, but what I got was a bone chilling dynamic that absolutely slayed me... with a little bit of drool worthy steam. Above all this was definitely a romance but it encompassed so much more of such a raw, breathtaking story - one with two characters both struggling with emotional, physical and just mental flaws that slapped such a powerful relatable and believable plot onto my lap.

Simply put - I read it in one sitting. Once I started I couldn't put it down.

Both Pierce and Lindsey was perfection. Pierce had such a drowning personality that just overpowered everything, which is definitely the part I was not expecting. Between his battling addiction, denial of this addiction plus his need to continue such a reckless lifestyle was causing me to tear up every moment he cracked. Everything was really focused on how he felt his self worth, and that was so crippling to read. Lindsey was no different. Being in denial that she didn't need help, that she was afraid to open herself - honestly many points she was so guarded she came across such a hypocritical bitch. Both struggled with admitting their faults, instead they continued to blame others, throwing themselves pity parties, or even each other to keep the distance. Their personalities were just destructed and made such perfect sense.

This is what I loved about their chemistry as well. Because they were flawed, or even damaged goods, they grew in this toxic bubble that helped evolve their mindset. And before you say, whoa Becky that doesn't sound good... let me explain what I mean. Both Lindsey and Pierce had such different stories growing up yet they were so similar. Both felt very little worth towards their families, this hindered their self esteem in a lot of ways and it made them come together. With this though comes that saying - before you can love someone you have to love yourself. Their chemistry was really based on this factor. It took them a while to appreciate themselves thus growing to love one another.

They had a powerful connection. Their chemistry fired up the pages. Even at the beginning the connection was fun, then turned friends turned this evolution of a relationship where feelings become this fierce connection. This creates a shift in their lifestyle. They really leaned on one another and I loved that the most about their romance - not that the sex didn't make me drool, but it was honestly the mushy romance for once that had tears in my eyes and my heart leaping.

And those secondary characters - gosh I don't think the drama would have been as gut wrenching without the dynamics of the supporting characters. From the entire Lancaster clan battling against Pierce, the deafening factor as they all disregard him, every moment Spencer chimed in I cringed. Because of how they expected Pierce to fail, treating him as if he was trash just broke my heart. Even the small amounts of Olivia either being mentioned or actually being conversed within the scene, as a reader with sympathy towards Pierce you can't help but hold a certain level of disgust for Olivia.

Definitely amazing. I cannot gush enough about this book - I do believe I am starting to ramble.... I just felt a multitude of raw emotions while reading Pierce and Lindsey's struggles. The reality of their personalities and inner struggles was perfection. Being able to connect with them on such a emphatic level was outstandingly overwhelming.

Just amazing. Read it. You will thank me later.

descriptionShe’s everything I can’t have. She’s all the rights I’ll never have.

Another new-to-me author!!!!

I have to say, I have never wanted to kill two main leads more than I had wanted to kill Pierce and Lindsey. I mean the first 24% AGGGHHH!!!!!!

Considered as the black sheep of the family, Pierce Lancaster is the party boy that does anything and everything to gain attention from his family. Not sharing the same interests as his over-achieving brothers and father, according to whom he is a grown man with no goals in his life. But little do they know, that what they call a frivolous activity is where Pierce's passion really lies.

Lindsey has always lived estranged from her parents. Running in the same party circle as Pierce, she doesn't everything to have her family give her attention and deem her important enough in their busy schedules.

An unfortunate accident leads Lindsey to re-think her life's choices and make things better. What she wasn't counting on was Pierce to end up at the place she works, her safe haven. Pierce is a reminder of her past and there is a lot of pushing and pulling between them.

The one thing that REALLY irritated me about their characters is that Pierce was quite frankly, had quite a childish attitude and I swear he infuriated me so much. Lindsey really grated on my nerves because of the whole "he is a reminder of my past" which I found really ironic given that her best friend and she both are recovering addicts. Like, why does a person who is practically a stranger other than the one night they shared and a common circle of party animal friends (mind you there is minimal interaction between the two prior to Pierce coming to work at her office), has so much control over your behaviour?

But I think this the kind of reaction Harrison was looking from her readers? Maybe. I'm kind of just guessing here at this moment.

Keeping that annoyance aside, I truly did enjoy the book.

descriptionI allow us to pretend ignorance, because deep down we both know, we’ll never be friends. We are destined for so much more.

Pierce and Lindsey are similar in more ways than one. Two peas in a pod, so to say, who really despite their reserves compliment each other really well.

They are individuals who are broken, flawed and misunderstood and are just looking for love and acceptance from those who they consider important and there is something really beautiful in that sadness.

As the book progressed there were some really poignant moments between Pierce and Lindsey. Sure the frustration never really went away but then these two finally started to actually let their walls down for each and it was beautiful!

I was at 90% mark when sh!t hit the fan. You know the post where it says: the fear when there is too much going on and only 10% left in the book? Yeah, that was me! I was biting my nails and waiting for things to get better but that last 10% was probably my absolute favourite out of the entire book.

So yes, read this book! If not for anything do it for that last 10% and the journey that Pierce and Lindsey take as individuals who later come together.

4 Stars!

Such a fantastic read. It owned me from beginning to end.
Explicit was an emotional rollercoaster. It was hard to put this book down once I started it.
The two main characters were broken. Both imperfect. And yet, they were perfect for each other.
I can't say I liked the title and blurb...I don't think it represented the book well. I was expecting something completely different. I mean, I am thrilled with what I got, it just wasn't what I was expecting...

So... the story is about Pierce and Lindsey. Both imperfect characters full of flaws and hurt. Both try to bury their pain on alcohol and drugs.
Lindsey had an accident and is clean. Trying to get her life back together and get over the physical limitations her accident left her with. She is still healing both inside and out, but she is slowly getting there. She is tough girl!
Pierce is another story all together. He doesn't know anything beyond alcohol, sex and drugs. He doesn't have anyone to trust, to be himself with, to help him focus on other things. It is impossible not to feel for him even when he is doing the most stupid things. He needs someone to trust, he needs someone to believe in him, and he needs time.

I think this was a great story that will have your heart palpitating often.
My only issue with it is that the story starts really fast and because all the characters appear to have a background story to them that I should know but don't I felt like I was missing something the whole time. If I could turn back the clock I would read the other books first. Explicit is a standalone, but it didn't really feel like one to me. Here is a little list (one I wish I had before starting it) of the other books:

Other books in the series:

Illicit by Ava Harrison ➜ Carson & Lynn's story
Clandestine A Novel by Ava Harrison ➜ Spencer & Olivia's story
Sordid by Ava Harrison ➜ Grant & Bridget's story
Explicit by Ava Harrison ➜ Pierce & Lindsey's story

***ARC Provided by the Author***

Ava Harrison takes risks. She writes about heroines who are flawed, who might not be likeable all the time, and about heroes who are not exactly perfect. She tells stories about real people, and they are not like the usual heroes and heroines, and sometimes this makes it harder to like them. This is definitely the case with Pierce, although you do quickly learn there is more to him than you think, after hearing about him from Grant and Spencer, his brothers.

Pierce and Lindsay have demons, and neither of them are perfect, by a long shot. Getting to know them, and watching them figure out that they dislike one another, but only as a cover for the way they really feel and the fear of rejection.

I loved that they both ended up having things in their lives that brought them together, things that made them each understand the other. That connection created a relationship I believed in, and a story I was invested in.

I thought the resolution of the issues with the Lancaster family was a little quick...but at the same time, it worked as things like that do cause events to move more quickly than they would if the changes to the relationship came about over a few telephone conversations and some holiday dinners.

I enjoyed this title and I recommend it.

Yes!! I finally got the youngest Lancaster's story and it's a heartbreaking one.

Pierce is such a flawed man, and yet, he's not irredeemable. He's the black sheep of the family, the one his brothers pass over every time. The one everyone else sees as just a careless, drifting waste. He's so not, though. He's just got lots of demons and lots of issues. He's known reformed party girl Lindsey for quite some time. Now that she's a REFORMED party girl, she knows she needs to stay away from this beautiful, broken man, but she just can't. They keep getting thrown into each other and soon they're seeing each other like they've never seen each other, or anyone else, before.

Reading Pierce and Lindsey's journey was quite simply heartbreaking, and beautiful, and it got me where most fiction rarely does - right in the soul. I absolutely loved Explicit. Ava has set the bar extremely high with Pierce and Lindsey's story. I'm not sure anyone to come will ever be able to ever surpass it. If you haven't been reading the Lancaster series, I highly advise you to start now. And save the best for last because Pierce is truly the best Lancaster and his story is most definitely Ava's best, by far!

Great read

Wow! What a great read. I got this book on a whim and I am so glad I did.

Pierce’s story is about finally finding himself and making a change. I thought I wouldn’t like him and was like poor rich kid, but there were underlining conditions. Even when you have all the money in the world, if you don’t have love, support, and a feeling of belonging you don’t have much. Lindsay’s story mirrors Pierce’s, but she confronts things face to face, where Pierce doesn’t have the confidence to do so. Something tragic has to happen to have that happen

Great read. Didn’t know there were others about the other two brothers. I think I might check them out.

“There doesn’t need to be anything wrong to be broken. You can appear to be perfect, but inside…”

Ava Harrison brings us an emotionally charged story filled with hope and love!

Pierce and Lindsey’s journey is heartfelt and beautiful. They both struggle with their emotions and their feelings of family neglect, they struggle with letting go of the past and feeling broken, they struggle with drowning out the pain. They strive to be better, they strive to help make a life for the boys at the Polaris Boys Club, they want to make a difference to these boys, to their families, and, most importantly, to themselves. This story is filled with hope, acceptance, and love.

This story deals with difficult subject matter, and for some, it will hit closely. Ava Harrison does a wonderful job at showcasing not only what Pierce and Lindsey go through, and their feelings and thoughts, but also how others around you are also affected. This story is very real, it’s raw, it’s written with passion, and it’s emotional and sincere.

A fantastic, heartfelt story that is sure to bring out every emotion and fill your heart with love.

Explicit (so aptly titled) was such a beautiful love story that flows well and was well written. I wasn't prepared for how deep the emotions and story would run.
Pierce and Lindsey are great together but you also get to see plenty of them as individuals. The story isn't overly dramatic like some love stories can be. It's more about two souls finally coming together after knowing each other for years.
Ava wrote a deep, soulful and wonderful love story in Explicit. She has a broad imagination and great writing style. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Honestly, you can't blame Lindsey. I'm addicted to Pierce Lancaster too ;)

All. The. Damn. Feels. 🙌🏼

This review has taken me an abnormally long time to write. Ava Harrison has taken all my words and left me speechless and in awe with Explicit. I lost myself in this world for a few hours and have been losing my mind over Pierce and Lindsey’s story in the best way ever since.

Pierce Lancaster is broken and I love him! He’s a mess, a screwup, and everyone knows it. The sexy as hell playboy that parties his life away, but in Explicit we see that there’s so much more to him and we slowly expose the many layers that make up the true Pierce. A man that’s hurt and flawed, but also worthy of redemption, trust, and love. And he made it so there was no freaking way I could stop myself from giving him a piece of my heart.

Lindsey is also a troubled soul. She’s been emotionally and physically broken and knocked down by life, but she’s by no means weak. Every time life deals her a blow she gets right back up. The girl is fierce! For as much as she’s vulnerable she’s also incredibly sassy, sexy, and strong. I want to be Lindsey when I grow up.

Ava Harrison is a master at writing real, flawed, and perfectly broken characters. They make mistakes and bad choices. Sometimes over and over, but they’re always given their chance...or chances... at redemption. Explicit is precisely that. A journey of two very flawed people looking for redemption and finding love and happiness in each other. Be ready for all the feels this book will put you through, but it will also become one of your favorite books ever. 5 Stars.

OMG, such a beautiful and flawless read that I'm at a loss at what to say? From beginning to end it whipped me up in a whirlwind of pure emotion and frustration that it times I didn't know which way was up. These characters, their story just blew me away, Ava out did herself with this book. I'm a sucker for complicated and intense but what you have in Explicit goes beyond that, so much love, lust, angst, anger and pain I REALLY FELT EVERYTHING IN THIS BOOK. It was truly amazing, one of a kind and I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! A DEFINITE MUST READ.

If anyone were to tell me that Ava Harrison did not write Pierce Lancaster with me in mind, I would call them a liar. Ava gets me, Ava loves me and Ava wrote this for me. So back off ladies because PIERCE IS MINE!

I remember the introduction to Pierce - it was in Clandestine, he was in bar and he was drunk and Spencer was annoyed - and I knew from that one little peek that Pierce was going to be a hot mess and I was going to love him. A tough pill to swallow in this book was how much I wanted to throttle Spencer and Grant for their treatment of Pierce.

"Would you give up all the money for a normal family?" "Every time."

Lindsey and Pierce are not the life of the party, spoiled rich kids they seem to be at first glance.
They are both so broken that their broken souls reached out for each other and held on for dear life in order to save the two of them. Both desperate for acceptance and love from their family. Both seeing the want and the brokenness in each other. Both come together for MEGAHOTNESS in the sack. But their brokenness ruins it and they become volatile. But then they are thrown back in together and they have no choice because....souls and all.

My absolute favorite male character is a broken one that wants so desperately to be loved and to redeem his character. Helping children, loving Lindsey, expression through art - Pierce does it beautifully. My hot mess became a favorite character and Lindsey became a favorite female character and the two of them became, in Ava's own words, "....a celebration of all the broken pieces."

Bravo on my favorite Lancaster!!!!

This story had potential but I had trouble connecting with the two characters. The last 15% is the best part of the book.
