Wire-
I am the pain manager at the Wings of Diablo MC Club. What’s that mean? It means that if my brothers need information they call on me to get it out of you. You should see the art I can create with a blow torch or a serrated blade or my favorite, barbed wire. I have been known to have a cold fearless heart. To stand in the middle of a gun fight without a care in the world, tear flesh from bodies and not even blink when my mark would scream and cry. Nothing reached me, I was numb to the world. Chaos was my meditation. That was until I met Keeley. Now one small piece of false information, one wrong victim and one war later she is completely under my skin.

Keeley-
He just showed up in my backyard pointing a gun in my face and bleeding profusely. If I would have known at that precise moment my world would turn on its head I would have never let him in. I left my home to get away from the violence and the wars yet here I am back in a world I don’t want to be in. I would run but no one excites me like Dillon does, no one protects me like Dillon does, and no one makes me scream in pleasure like him either. As hard as his life is and even with my own life in danger there is no where I would rather be than in his arms, I am his.

I have said it before that I love MC stories and this one didn't fail to hold my reading interest.
There are triggers and some really tortured scenes. Some were really gory and as I read them I even cringed. Once past them, the story was good.

Wire is the enforcer for the Wings of Diablo motorcycle gang. Caught up in a war with the Tears of Chaos, he is consumed with violence and death. Then, one night while on the brink of death himself, an angel saved him. Her name was Keeley, and she was unlike any girl he'd ever met. She was smart, and bold and courageous. As an environmental scientist, she absolutely did not fit into Wire’s world of crime, but he couldn't let her walk away from him without a fight, especially if her life was in danger.

Bridged together due to unfortunate circumstances, the pair fight their attraction to one another, but will their resistance waiver? A strong book with equally strong characters.

I loved the idea of a biker romance and the characters were very well written and believable. When Keeley and Wire discussed her occupation, it was clear the author knew what she was talking about when she mentioned John Muir (my hometown naturalist!) However, I'm not sure if I agree with the biker lifestyle and the degradation on women. I've met many bikers and these one's make me sick with the way they treat women, but it does set the perfect stage for Keeley to enter.

"My father always told me people treated you how you let them treat you, so if I wanted respect and chivalry I had to demand it."

Keeley was the strongest woman Wire had ever met and that is what attracted him to her. She was his equal and because of her, he learned how to treat a woman. Wire grew tremendously from the beginning of the book and while he still has a long way to come, Keeley has definitely set him on the right track.

Great!

I love MC Bikers romances and this was a great one. Wire and Keely was different kind of couple, she saved his life and was a scientist as well and Wire was a very dangerous Biker as well a alpha personal which I love myself, I loved Keely she was a strong woman for Wire, I think he needed her too. The club was at war with another Club and things was getting dangerous for all even Keely but Wire was there for her, the only thing I didn't like was some for the club rules and people but this was a interesting book specially at the end when Keely mystery father appears, loved the epilogue. 💗 Will recommend this book to all bikers romances readers!

Another Great start to an MC series. This is a new author to me and I will definitely be reading more of her work. If you like death, torture and pain with elements of hot and steamy sex and romance this book is for you. This author is so descriptive when she writes it feels like I am living there with the characters in that moment. Some of the torture scenes were so graphically descriptive I had to skim them. Keeley saves Wire one night from bleeding out on her floor and the rest is history. Keeley is a strong woman and that’s just what Wire needs in his life not some club bunny. She just wanted to live a quiet life away from all of the violence and she is thrust right back in the middle of it. Keeley is feisty and smart and doesn’t take crap from anyone especially Wire. She is not afraid to follow her heart and her heart wants Wire. While there is violence surrounding and seeping from Wire deep down he is truly a good guy. I love the chemistry between the two, it seeps off the pages and pulls you in. I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!!

This book was recommended to me by a friend. I had never read a MC romance before, so Wire totally took my virginity;) I honestly struggled whether to give this a 3 or 4 stars, only because there were so many typos and formatting errors that I was distracted; I kept wanting to add the missed punctuation, or indent where necessary.
All that aside, I believe it deserves four stars because the story was fun and the plot kept me engaged throughout. I enjoy a strongly worded erotic story every now and then, and this book satisfied that part of me. I was pleased at the vocabulary used, even finding myself accepting the multiple uses of the phrase "honey-pot," or something similar. Lake did a good job at establishing the baseline character of Wire, making it that much more sweet when he finds himself fighting love.
Can we see more of Keely's father perhaps? I'm totally intrigued.

Wire

This is my first book from this author and it won't be my last. I enjoyed the story even if it was a bit predictable. The H and h has scorching chemistry. If I could change anything it would be the polite conversations. I think it would have been more relatable if the didn't speak so properly, most people don't talk that way let alone bada$$ bikers. Will definitely read the next book.

Loved the strong Heroine

Wire gets caught in a predicament and Keeley end up saving him. She is so firstly doesn't take crop from anyone. It's been a long time since I've read a strong h in an MC.

Wire fits this relationship tooth and nail at first determined he doesn't want or need an ole lady. But Keeley worms her way in. With the danger from another club and a traitor in their own it brings these two closer.

This is on the darker side of MC books.

This was a very good MC book. I loved the story of Wire and Keeley. Full of action, drama and bad a$$ bikers that in true biker fashion are a loyal brotherhood. I had a hard time putting this book down. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Strong Main Characters match their strength

I loved this book! Great story line which grew and developed while Rae B. Lake fleshed out realistic 3 dementional characters. Very well thought out, satisfying ending. Nice work author! I highly recommend, despite some editing needs which really didn't matter because all of the fun.

It was good. It hit all the violence buttons and then some. The sex was good too. My only objection is that we need more details and more work on the characters backstory. Both Wire and Keeley seemed to have so much more to them. And just what was Monte's deal anyway?

Ohhhh damn! This has some amazing torture scenes, I do love it when an author doesn't shy away from the violence, and I especially love it when the author allows us into the scene....step by step. Thank you!

3 stars

I absolutely hate leaving anything other than 4 or 5 star reviews but there was no way I could give this book more than a 3 star review. The book was really not for me. I love MC stories but this one fell really short of the mark. I nearly stopped reading on a few occasions. Wire was an over the top alpha male. Some of the storyline didn't make sense. He was injured and in deaths door at the start of the book but the next day he was up and about. Keeley got attacked, put in intensive care but the next day she took herself home and there was no mention of her injuries when fighting with Wire. Wasn't consistent. Gah. I wanted to love this book so much.

Good read

If you can't handle death and pain, then this books not for you. This was one of the most descriptive MR style books I've ever read. I even had to skip over some of the torture parts. However I loved the rest and will definitely be looking forward to more stories of other main characters.

This was an easy read. It had a few sections that were pretty graphic which I thought gave it a little bit of edge, but it had a few problems that resulted in me rating it three stars. Wire is on the run one night from a rival gang who has stabbed him and wants him dead after he permanently maimed one of theirs getting information after a drug bust went bad. Keeley hides him in her house and they're both attracted to each other, but Wire doesn't want anything serious, the rival gang is starting a war and wants Wire as their first kill and there's a possible traitor in their midst.

I thought the story was pretty well paced which kept it entertaining, but there were a few issues I had with it. Firstly, there are quite a few obvious typos scattered throughout the book, starting on the first page - extra spaces, missing punctuation and capitals and a few sloppy spelling errors. This is a pet peeve on mine but it might not worry other readers as it wasn't excessively evident, but it was there enough to warrant the comment here especially since one of the mistakes was an its/it's red flag. Some of the descriptive language left me scratching my head. Simmering eyes? Looking at someone with 'just a little more praise'. What even is that?

Some of the little bits added to story made no sense to me. Wire was on death's door and almost bled out but the next day we see him running down the stairs to get food before his friend eats it. There were a lot of dialogue words used that seemed strange in the story - a heap of screaming and shrieking and the like from both men and women that didn't gel with the story line. Towards the beginning of the book, Keeley, who is used to violence and killing due to her family background, just turns up at the clubhouse to return Wire's wallet knowing they're dangerous bikers. She's felt up and almost sexually assaulted in a room full of witnesses. Not only is this unbelievable, she then does it again later on in the book. Considering she's apparently studying for her second doctorate, she's a pretty slow learner.

The author tried to make Keeley seem strong, independent and feisty but unfortunately this wasn't completely pulled off as she also had several moments where she was needy, clingy and borderline annoying. Some of the words and phrases were repeated often. Honestly, how many times can the phrase 'honey pot' be used for a woman's bits? Quite a lot, apparently. We also had the same plot line happen twice where the rival gang went for Keeley at work. Then there's the ridiculous plot line where Wire, who isn't even allowed in the room when the upper echelon of the gang have church, is offered the vice president position.

There was the typical demeaning talk about females, particularly the 'bike bunnies', that pretty much makes them warm bodies and that's it. Wire is talked up as this stud with a massive member who bangs women and then kicks them out with no time for feelings or commitment. This was focussed on a lot, as well as a bit of rough talk and action from him. It wasn't terrible, but the author tried to make him out to be as much of a bad boy stud as possible. And I'll warn readers - there are two occasions where Wire is with other women after meeting Keeley. She catches him starting on the second one and the way she just got over it made me cringe. She's supposed to be this feisty, strong woman but has an outburst about it and says she's jealous and then they're all good. Nope.

Apart from a quick mention, there wasn't a lot of focus on what illegal activities the Diablo gang were involved in as the story mostly focussed on the issues between them and the rival Chaos faction. Most of the story is from Wire's point of few with a few chapters only from Keeley's perspective. Wire was possessive so some readers will like that. There was a smattering of cheese throughout the book where the attraction was hashed out or Wire's badboy personality was highlighted, but it wasn't too heavy, thankfully.

Overall, the book was pretty over the top but the writing was solid enough apart from the typos. The traitor was easy to figure out from early on in the book due to the heavy hints dropped by the author. I like how some of the violence wasn't scaled back but some of the kitschy elements didn't do it for me.

Dillion oh Dillon … I have a dark personality and even Wire (Dillion) caused me to pause and lay my kindle down and process what I was reading, the giving of pain is what he specializes in and though it is not discussed in depth you know that is some deep seeded abuse that he has suffered and learned to internalize. He happens upon Keeley by accident, but it became beautiful Chaos. Keeley in that Nerd time that has that unexpected side that brings you up short. Growing up as a Mob Princess she is not naïve to the dark seeded parts of life she was just hoping that she would get herself away from them when she was sent to the States. At the end of the day though you can’t fight who you are meant to be with you have to accept their place in your life and the find your place in theirs. I gave 4 stars (4.25 was not an option) this was because I would have like a few parts fleshed out a bit more to understand why certain things happened the way they did. Definitely recommend

Wire woke to being moved to the club Doc and Clean telling the woman she needed to go if she didn’t want him to die, he needed help, he knew it was a bad idea, outsiders never went into the club. He was worried that someone might think she was a biker bunny and they were club property.
With the club nearly at war he never expected them to go after Keely and he wants his revenge for what was done to her, she saved him and there was something there even though he could never give her what she wanted, he didn’t do relationships.
Keely decides to push Wire, wanting to know why she’s not good enough for him, he knows what she’s doing is pure torture but is she ready for the reason why he hasn’t made her his, can she handle he’s reason and what happens when her mysterious father finds out he’s daughter has been in danger.

I love a good MC Novel and this one did not disappoint. This is Wire and Keeley's story.

I absolutely loved Keeley’s spirit! Her personality was right on point with what Wire needed in a woman. Not just a club bunny (rolling my eyes) but a real woman. Keeley is a scientist that moved to Wire’s town to get away from the violence. It also helps her understand it though, if it's done protecting the ones you love.

The action is graphically gory and the sex is wonderfully descriptive. Lake's world building skills are extraordinary, whether paranormal or contemporary, erotic or YA. The cast of characters she presents us with are superb and I hope to see more books in this genre by her. Highly recommended!
