'Ritchie does much to show how difficult it is to develop a proper grammar, and thus gives an accurate reflection of the problems of computational linguistics by describing the state of descriptive linguistics and his application of it.'
I enjoyed reading this book, more for considering right questions and offering approaches to answering them, than for being highly information rich. Near end, Ritchie himself points out how quickly the field of study was advancing. Concepts such as frames have layered many things on the scaffolding presented here.
