Homo Moldovanus Sovietic, una dintre multiplele variațiuni ale lui Homo Sovieticus, a fost creat în URSS, în afara spațiului imaginar și istoric al moldovenilor, dincolo de hotarele Țării Moldovei de odinioară. Produs inventat în regiunea transnistreană, el este anti-român, vorbitor de limba „moldovenească”, predispus spre îndoctrinare, deznaţionalizare, rusificare şi sovietizare, pătruns de un sentiment de inferioritate faţă de ruşi, dar încercând să se elibereze de acest complex prin adularea formelor imperiale şi culturale de sorginte sovietică, ceea ce îl face mândru de apartenenţa sa la marea „supraputere” sovietică.

E de reținut însă că Homo Moldovanus Sovietic nu poate fi identificat întru totul cu moldovenii. Mai exact, deși comportă unele trăsături ale moldoveanului istoric, el și le-a însușit de fapt (sau i-au fost insuflate) pentru ca, ulterior, să le folosească aleatoriu chiar împotriva conaționalilor săi.

The book describes the basis on which the soviets built the moldovan identity, what was the historical background, how this compares to other politicaly based identitites around the world and how it eventually played out.
The policy was incoherent and developed over time based on what was the policy at the Kremlin, who had the high ground in the Moldovan SSR/ASSR structures and the actual realities they encountered on the ground. It also touches on the deportations, famins and general anti-soviet resistance but not in depth.
I was expecting more details about the Moldovan ASSR within the Ukrainian SSR as it was the laboratory where everything started.
The book is segmented into separate studies/chapters which are relatively stand alone. It is written in an academic manner but accesible to the public, although it is fairly bland.

O carte extraordinară care adresează rusificarea Basarabiei, crimele sovieticilor și inventarea identității moldovenești fictive. Foarte bine scrisă și documentată. Recomand oricărui român interesat de adevărul despre istoria României și Basarabiei.
