The brute only saved me so he could break me. I woke up in a strange city with no memory of how I got there. The biker found me, and took me in. But this motorcycle club is no safe haven. And there’s a devil coming after me… determined to drag me to hell.
Vera.
I remember my name, but nothing else. And even if I didn’t already have amnesia, the outlaw brute’s burning eyes would have wiped my mind blank.
When I’m looking into those dark irises, there’s only him. Tall. Raw. Tatted. Powerful. Staring back and owning me with just a glance.
Rascal never asked to be the man I turned to for answers. But something in my gut tells me I can trust him – even though his leather kutte and cocky swagger tell me I should be running in the other direction.
I need him in more ways than I know. And after a night spent bending for him – serving him – begging him for just one more touch – it seems like I’ve lost everything… Only to find where I’m truly meant to be.
But this unlikely paradise is about to come crashing down around me. Because there’s someone else out there. Chasing me. Hunting me. And the phantoms of my past won’t until they’ve consumed us all:
Me. Rascal. And the baby in my belly.

This was pretty good for a book that was 54 pages on my NOOK and after doing some research, only 50 pages in the print version. It read a little like fanfiction, but the higher end type, like this person has been writing for a while. There were some spelling issues, but that could be for a number of different reasons. I would recommend this to who want to read something short and that only has a tad bit of spice. I'll probably get books 2+3 at some point to see what happens, but it's not a priority for me at the moment. Ratings: two five stars (writing style and readability), one four star (plot), one three star (originality), and two two stars (relatability and personal impact). The average of these 6 categories is how I determine the ratings of my books and why this book was a four star read for me.
Romance genre: MC Part of a series: Yes (Dark Vultures) Length: 52 pages
Plot: Vera wakes up in a bad part of town with no recollection of who she is or what she's doing there. With the help of Rascal, a local biker, she starts to figure out who she is. And then the story ends. It appears to be a short serial.
Character development: Vera appears to be on the run from a cult, as evidenced by her reaction to a news story and the prairie dress in the hotel closet. Rascal doesn't seem to be a super bad boy, but neither does he seem to be a standup guy - he almost left her in the camp, even though she surely would have been raped/killed. I didn't really connect to either of them, and there wasn't a lot of space for that to happen. A lot of people are mad that the book is so short, but Amazon didn't hide the page number. It's just that kind of story - short, with a push to buy the next chapters.
Would I read more from this author/in this series: No - story wasn't intriguing enough for me to float the money on this one.
I think this is my new favorite by this author!! The characters and the storyline were unique and instantly drew me in. Vera wakes in an unknown and unfamiliar area with no recollection of how she got there or why she was there. Rascal happened to be around in the same neighborhood when he noticed her looking lost and upset. While he’s not the typical White Knight, he was definitely her knight in black leather 😜 As always, this is a must read to me!! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Vera is running from her past.Rascal is enjoying his present. Together they have a future. Vera’s past comes calling,Rascal steps up and helps her out. She is having memory problems, and is unsure about everything. Rascal takes care of her and finds out that she was part of a cult that the government has infiltrated and shut down. They come together and she ends up pregnant, and him like any normal single guy, is scared to deal that of the thought of the responsibility, but soon realizes that he has to step up. They fall in love and are living a good life with their child.
Brute is another Dark Mc offering from Naomi West! Vera doesn't remember who she is, or how she got to that aquaduct. Bt she knows she is trouble. Rascal is doing Mc bsiness, when he saves Vera. And things aren't adding up. He rescues her anyways! He pts her some place safe, but can't forget her. As he finds out more, he realizes she is in danger and knows he has to save her! A Great read with lots of mystery, danger, and some hot sexy times!
Quick and not so dirty, this prequel novella sets up Vera and Rascal's romantic interlude. He saved her from a bad situation and contrived to "get to know her better". Kinda hard to do when she doesn't know herself. Ending on a cliffhanger, Brute whets the appetite for more. However, I haven't found the next story. Also, the editing could have been better, especially since the book is so short.
This is in no way a book. This is a couple of chapters, then a cut off. To get the rest of the story, you must buy more chapters. The author broke the story up into 3 sections, teasing readers with the first section for free. Not worth buying the other 2 sections. A waste of time. Blah!
Brute by Naomi West Honestly can say that I truly look forward to books from Naomi West. This was such a good read. "I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review."
Start with the books introduction, it's written as 3 hours and whatever minutes to read. It took me ten minutes to read the book. There wasn't anything to it that was interesting. Vera lost her memory, Rascal rescued her and she finally admitted it to him. End of the book.
I liked the story line and how the play between the main characters came together. I do not like the way the book ended. It was just cut off. I understand it is part of a series. But in my opinion it needed more closure. Then lead into the next book in the series.
This story keeps you thinking and guessing the whole way through. Its a short story but it is exciting I can't wait to read the next one to see what happens
Vera wakes up under a bridge not knowing who she is and what has happened to her. Rascal, a member of the Dark Vultures MC, helps Vera out when he sees two men fighting over her. Vera and Rascal go on a journey together to find out the secrets that are being held in Vera's mind that she hasn't been able to remember. Read "Brute" by Naomi West as her MC books are well written and enjoyable to read.
