Librarian note: Older cover edition of B07DJ2RC9P.
It was supposed to be a simple assignment. Go undercover as a student, Identify the members of the local gangs and their supply pipeline. It wasn't supposed to get this complicated. I wasn't supposed to fall in love. And it shouldn't have been with a teacher.
We all live in the illusions of our own realities. Cassandra's reality lies between the quiet bridge of complex and chaotic. A single mother to two amazing boys, graphic artist, industrial sewer, author, avid home gardener, baker, reader, and introvert, her hats are many. A refined goth, she's obsessed with tattoos, shoes, hair dye, chocolate, metal and hip-hop music, and all things dark and creepy except bugs, those are too creepy. Each of her books contains a piece of her reality. Tiny fragments laced with forbidden romance, defining miniature slices of her truths.
I wanted to DNF it so many times. Lacey may not really be a high school student but she sure acts like one. The temper tantrum’s she throws because her TEACHER won’t sleep with a 17 year old are stupid. I hate her so much.
Cops can’t enroll someone in school, block their records, and set their schedules without allowing any changes. That would take AT LEAST one administrator being in the loop so that was silly.
And Damien is just plain stupid. This girl with no ties is placed in the school and his classes by a police lieutenant that he KNOWS is all about taking down drug dealers and gang members and he’s wracking his brain trying to figure out how she could be involved? I doesn’t even SUSPECT she could possibly be a narc. Even after her “parole officer” is that same lieutenant and they meet with other cops? He literally SEES her give drugs to cops and doesn’t bring it up to her. I mean how dumb is this guy?
Oh, then there’s the fact he speaks pigin in the beginning and it never comes up again until the end.
And the book was looooooong.
But with all the faults and annoyances, the urges to DNF the story had me. I want to see how Damian is going to discover she’s a cop.
Spoilers:
But then it didn’t happen in the first book! Ugh!!!
I don’t know if I can go through another book so long without some story momentum. It was a frustrating read.
This is well written, in a sense intoxicating. I felt I couldn't wait to flip to the next page. The vivid descriptions made it easy to picture each character. If you loved the 50 shades books this could be for you. It's a similar feel to 50 shades, suspense, lust and love with out the bondage. Can't wait to read the next part.
Cassandra Cripps is a new to me author, and boy did I get trial by fire when I was fortunate enough to read the whole Love & Lust series at once. This is the story of Lacy, a young detective getting her first undercover assignment, until she learned that she would be going undercover as a High School student. I mean how many of us really want to do that time all over again for real. Anyway, she's not used to keeping track of lies like she's having to do, especially when she fell in love with an inappropriate adult like Damien who is a teacher/counselor, and she's his TA, not to mention a "minor." I mean what could go wrong?! However, they can't stop what's happening no matter how wrong Damien feels like it is, and Ms. Cripps takes us on one hell of a hot ride. Thankfully, Lacy wasn't a minor, or I would have been beside myself, as I tend to stay away from those being a mother & all. However, what will Damien do when he learns the truth?! One click this story to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
What a freaking introduction to an author! I had no idea what to expect but it certainly wasn't this! I also went into this book completely blind. I had no idea what to expect!
Lacy is a new detective who has to go undercover in a school, should be easy nothing to worry about. Oh man was she wrong. Sometimes things that we don't expect to happen, happen and they happen at the absolute worse time. I mean falling in love with a teacher is a terrible thing to happen when you're pretending to be a teenage girl. Damien is the gym teacher who just can't seem to stay away from Lacy.
The chemistry between the two is there right from the start. I loved reading the banter and interactions between the two characters.
I would have been super upset about this cliffhanger expect all the books are out and I don't have to wait. I'm super excited to dive right into book two to find out what happens next.
Hell of a beginning for this series. I devoured this undercover book. Laceys character is amazing and is really put through the ringer!
Lacey is a brand new detective and going undercover. She was so excited for landing the job until finding out what the undercover job was. High school all over again! She sucked it up, can't be that bad, right? Boy was she ever wrong, never did she think she'd fall in love. Between having to not get her cover blown, remembering she's a minor all over again and having to keep up with her lies, Lacey is in so much inner turmoil. She has to keep her head on straight, complete her undercover mission and hope that when she comes clean her lies will be forgiven.
I loved this book so hard. It's very easy to get wrapped up in the story and not put it down. The characters are amazing and Lacey is a kickass chic, literally. I can't wait to read the next book.
This is the first time I've read any of Cassandra Cripps' books. I was not disappointed. If you like hot raw and unadulterated passion mixed with law enforcement undercover ops, then you will love this book. Must Read!!
Lacey is assigned an undercover job as a student at a high school. She is there to investigate gangs and their drug pipeline. She ends up meeting and working with a popular teacher. Things become tangled and twisted with lies, lust and love. This book ends on a cliffhanger but the next book is already out.
This book has everything I want in a romance book. I love the suspense, mystery and everything that goes with it. Can I add the teacher/student romance?!? Omg. I fell in love with these two amazing characters. The way they meet and their lives Intertwine makes me one happy reader. I loved the authors writing, her plot development, and everything about her!! I am obsessed and a little mad - there is a cliffhanger!!!
Lacy is an undercover cop. She meets the teacher and let the sparks fly. Their chemistry blew me away and made me have to fab myself. Giving into temptation and working your job become quite a feat. This story will blow your away!!
My #BookReview of #LoveLustandLittleLies by @CassandraCripps
This was my first time reading this author, and by George I love her!
Her stories are amazing!!!! I couldn’t put this book down, and wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next!
Lacy just graduated from Trooper school, and because she’s so young looking, they put her undercover in a school to find out who’s dealing the drugs, and who’s in the gangs.
Little does she know, that she will run into her match Mr. A, her teacher.
Damien can not stay away from Lacy at all. They are so smitten with one another. He thinks she’s actually 17 and his Student but little does he know, that she’s NOT!
Lacy can’t blow her cover, and let the whole team down that’s trying to stop all the gangs, and drugs from their town. Damien can’t lose his job, and get caught with a student, so they have to sneak around.
But then a raid happens, and something horrible happens to Lacy.
I really enjoyed their banter back and forth, but OH man did Damien get on my nerves a bit cause he couldn’t make up his mind. He’d be in one mind about It in on chapter, and then change his mind completely in the next. But it def kept me intrigued as to what would happen next.
FYI: This is on a CLIFFHANGER!
Some of my fave quotes from the book: 1. You are a student. You cannot touch. I repeat to myself over and over. - Lacy knows she can’t touch Mr. A. 2. I wanted to punch her in the face. - So did I Lacy. So did I. 3. “Lacy, I promise you there will be a day when I make you mine.” - SWOON MOMENT FROM DAMIEN! 4. “One hundred percent pasty white.” - You and me both Lacy!! LOL!
Wow. First book I’ve read by Cassandra Cripps, but loved this and have already bought book 2. Lacy just graduated police academy. Then why is she back in High School? And Damien is her teacher. But she can’t help what her body craves! Damien wants Lacy too. He’s done a lot of bad things, but sleeping with a student. That’s one line he won’t cross?
The ending! That might be all I can say. I was so shocked by how it ended but this story is not over. This was a good read. It had a unique story line and the chemistry between the main characters was intense. All through the book, I wanted the truth to come out, but there are still secrets to be told, truths to be found, and healing to happen. I will definitely be grabbing myself book 2 because I have to know how it all turns out.
This book was fantastic. I read it one sitting when it first came out and am kicking myself for not writing this sooner and getting people to read this story. Lacy and Damien are two hot characters that sizzle and make you want to turn the pages quicker to see what happens. Even though there are secrets between them, the chemistry will not keep them apart. The characters and storyline were addicting. Once you start you won’t be able to stop. This is a must read.
When Lacy goes undercover at a high school to reveal its burgeoning gang population and drug dealers, she expects playing the part of a teenager will be challenging. But when she finds herself falling for a teacher, their passion is riddled with secrets that neither can share. The tension grows with the tug-and-pull of forbidden love, and lies that threaten to tear them apart.
This was a well-written first book in a series that left me wanting to read the second.
Just reread this book even though I only read it a few months ago, but I love it. I love the characters and the story line. I'll be rereading the whole series probably almost as fast as I read it the first time because once you start, you can't stop. Great job, Cassandra. My favorite books are the ones I can read over and over and still love it just as much as the first time. Besides, Damien is pretty swoon worthy.
Let me start by saying that this a good story line. I think the author has a lot of talent. I just felt the story line was rushed at the beginning and then it started to linger a little to long for me. I have read all three books. There were nice books with a good plot line and characters.
As to taboo subjects such as teacher-student relationships, I’m not for it, ever. And it doesn’t help that teacher Mr Damien Aolani fell in lust at first sight with Lacy (who came into the school as an undercover agent to weed out the gangs/drug dealers) who also gravitated to him like a moth to a flame.
If this story had paranormal slant, I’d reckon their insta-love would be somewhat acceptable as it was cringe worthy most of the time. Especially when their emotions are all over the place like ... like a teenagers room... your hot and your cold, your yes and your no. And it didn’t help that they were slow to open up and since Lacy was undercover, that too made things complex.
So anyways Damien and Lacy are perfect for each other mainly because they both had similar horrible childhoods and together they can help each other heal. But much to my horror the story ends with a cliff hanger.
Author has an engaging writing style, I would expect better subject matters, next time 😉
Good i guess. Read it on a whim because it was free on Eden books and the synopsis seemed interesting enough. Some parts felt unnecessarily drawn out and the relationship between the two main characters was sweet but kinda boring. I understand it's meant to be a slow burn but they got together way to early and kept making out like horny teens for pages and pages. The tension came out of nowhere but after a few chapters you can feel their chemistry. I just wished it was the other way around. They needed more longing before being all over each other. I gave up on focusing on the credibility of the plot after a few pages seeing how Lacey is anything but discreet. I considered DNFing a few times but pushed through. Overall it wasn't that bad. It ended in a cliffhanger but I'm not interested enough to suffer through the rest.
Good book but the ending was too abrupt. It ended so quickly with a big cliffhanger. I appreciate that it was free, but will not bother with the next one. Good writer, I just hate cliffhangers.
