When Agent Abigail's secretary, who is almost her look alike, is killed, taking the bullet meant for Abigail. The agent is going to have to change her identity and her way of life in order to discover who is behind the killing and why. This is an action adventure with espionage and thrills. The author did a great job with the background for this book which involves different cultures and beliefs. I really enjoyed this author's writing style and although I am not much of a reader of secret agent thrillers, I really liked this book and this author.
I gave this book four stars for the story. However, it is so incredibly stilted that it has no flow at all. The hardest to describe is the TOTAL lack of knowledge of ANY formatting or English rules. The most egregious and irritating is that every quote starts a new paragraph, even if it begins in the middle of a sentence. Words are spelled incorrectly, the verb tenses don't match, punctuation followed no rules, and it is all a MESS. I highlight with pink every time there is a major mistake; this book is liberally freckled with pink on EVERY page. If there ever was a book that needs to be pulled for a thorough edit, THIS IS IT!
I may have given this a higher rating but the alignment was bizarre throughout the book. Don't know who to blame but the book was aligned to the right and most of the punctuation was backwards. Sometimes it made it difficult to tell who was talking. That made the story confusing and I would have to re-read to understand which was annoying. In addition it wasn't edited well. The bizarreness continues. The review I just wrote was for Spy or Die. I never heard of Operates Behind Enemy Lines.
The action seemed a little slower to start but this was a good book to follow the first. Of course, there's more come. I dropped a star because the last third or quarter of the book was not well edited. Missing words, verb tense issues, not every page but enough to notice.
I can't believe this is the end! Surely the saga of Abigail will continue. After losing hours of sleep, I need closure. What actually happened to Karma? Will Naima ever return for Arlene? Will she actually give birth to her second child? If so, under what conditions? I have many more questions. This has the makings for a dynamic series.
