The job seems simple enough to Dan provide private security for a geeky college professor and his beautiful red-haired girlfriend. But the flip side for this particular job turns out to be a brutal mix of love, betrayal, and vengeance. And for everyone involved, the final track sounds like death.Check out the second book in the Dan Spalding titles, introducing series regulars Velda Carmichael and mob boss Adrian Mitchell.
Richard Prosch is rapidly becoming one of my favorite writers. And with "Dan Spalding," Prosch has created a series detective character to rival Spenser or Travis McGee. The Spalding stories are quick reads, hard hitting but with a deep heart. I read this one in a white heat. Highly recommended.
A little side job protecting a college professor seems like an easy gig. It might be if he could follow simple instructions to keep him safe and if he would quit disappearing. We even get a mob boss with this one, and a very feisty lady named Veronica.
