A dragon shifter on the verge of death. A woman being hunted by wolves. The oath he swears to protect her may be his last.

Xander Brandhart is running out of time. He and his brothers are the only dragon shifters left alive, but if the billionaire Xander doesn't find a mate soon, his last shift will be permanent. As he looks for a magic stone to prolong his three-hundred-year life, he can feel himself starting to lose control. When he meets a feisty, beautiful redhead, it's love at first sight, but his heart sinks as he realizes no human has ever survived mating with a dragon…

Shae MacKenna lived alone on the streets of Chicago until the age of 13. It wasn't until an eccentric old mage took her in that she could trust another living soul. But shortly after her 21st birthday when a pack of feral wolf shifters kills her guardian, she'd almost rather be the next victim than go it alone all over again. Thankfully, an actual living dragon bursts in to save her life. When Xander swears an oath to protect her, she reluctantly joins the billionaire in his penthouse suite.

As the pack of wolf shifters continues to stalk her, Shae feels herself falling for her protector. To fulfill his bond and his growing attraction toward her, Xander may need to sacrifice his life to save the woman he loves.

Kissed By Fire is a captivating standalone paranormal romance novel featuring billionaire dragon shifters. If you like sizzling chemistry, happily ever afters, and twists you won't see coming, then you'll love Kimber White's passionate, action-packed story.

As a civil lawyer, I spent many, many years writing complex legal briefs for unappreciative bosses. To keep from stabbing myself (or them) in the eye with a fork during all of that, I also started writing down the stories in my head. All on my own time, of course ;) Turns out, I'm a sucker for hot, alpha male shifters and kickass heroines.

Now, I've thrown away my shingle (er - more like burned it in a fire pit) so I can devote my time to bringing you sizzling, erotic, paranormal romance stories. If you like hunky, bad boy shifters, women who know what they want in and out of the bedroom, panty-melting sex scenes, and edge of your seat suspense, I've got you covered! We'll put the rahr in erotic romance (okay, okay, that sounded better in my head).

3 stars - English Ebook

Quote: Dragonstone. I wasn’t even sure I’d know it when I saw it. Part of me questioned whether it ever existed. I wasn’t the only one. My brothers had their doubts as well, but when Avelina wanted something, she usually got it. For the last five years, she’d been determined to chase down every lead and half-baked rumor about where to find the stuff.-

Quote: A dragon. He was an honest-to-God dragon. I blinked hard as if that could transport me somewhere else. Maybe if I tried clicking my heels I’d find my way straight out of Oz.-

Quote: It never occurred to me that the great Avelina Brandhart, Queen of Dragons, Last of Her Kind, wouldn’t know what the hell to make of Shae. Pride for her poured through me.-

Nice paranormal romance, adult read, read ears. If you like dragonshifters and demsells in distress this is your read. Loved reading it in the hours waiting in de waitingroom olie hospital.

Dragon shifters - brothers are dying for want of their mates. The h is not a dragon, but the H knows she's his mate. There is some angst, not too much, mostly it is sweet fated mates with some fiery dragon issues. I really liked the twist on some of the usual tropes and the dragon's mother. She's great, a good read.

Really enjoyed the story, just wish the other books in the series weren’t so expensive. I definitely got dragged into the story with characters and the world building.

Ah the angst of this book!! It nearly wrecked the whole thing for me.
It's well written, and i enjoyed the fundamentals of the shifter world, but God the angst.
I think it's important to note that the MCs don't actually get together until almost 90% of the way through the book.

The mother just about ruined it for be as well. I really didn't like her. I just wished someone, anyone, would tell her off. But oh no, she's basically all knowing (from experience and motherly instinct, nothing any omnipotence or cool gifts).
She interferes everywhere. In all matters.

For some reason her sons all call her by her first name, which is never explained.

Anyways, overall, this book is a solid 2 stars for me simply because the writing was good and the story decently thought out.
I was thoroughly frustrated and annoyed for most of this book though, and i definitely won't be reading any more from this series.

3.5 stars. I quite enjoyed it. The storyline was quite nice and for a short story, it's pretty well put together. It does have a couple of cringy lines but overall it was a fun fast-paced read. PS, there's a shit ton of smut.

A quick yet satisfying tale about fated mates with a dragon twist. It’s sweet in the right parts and just complex enough to offer the plot stability, though the romance is lacking as the fated mates are the insta-Love kind, even with some complications.

First person, multiple POV, PNR with a HEA.

Pros:
- Sweet.
- World building is just starting here, but it’s intriguing.
- The solution was different.

Cons:
- Lack of romance. They don’t really get to know each other AT ALL.
- One person seems to hold all the answers, and of course, keeps them secret to protect others. Sigh.

He's a dragon who will die if he doesn't mate. He finds his mate, but she's human, and mating with a dragon will kill her. See the conflict?

Steam and angst! Compelling story. I think what I liked most about Kissed by Fire was the pacing. It's a fast read, but it doesn't feel rushed. It's a complete story with excellent detail, but doesn't feel "padded." Good balance between action and description. Well-written!

In Kimber’s new series, we get a glimpse into the exciting world of dragon shifters. The last dragons on earth, five brothers looking for mates, but understanding that they most likely will never find their one true love. A mother that’s watched members of her family, including her husband die, is now facing the possibility of having to destroy her sons.

Xander and Shae have chemistry from the very beginning. Fate brought them together but then it looks to be the ultimate cruelty; they can never be together. With a death wish, blood magic and dragonstone, something very incredible happened.

I’ll say that at times, I was slightly confused by the timeline and how the characters thought of the timeline in their inner monologue.

Oh So Hot

Review of Dragon keepers series by Kimber White

I finally took the time yesterday to finish the Dragon keepers series written by Kimber White. I had finished books 1-3 months ago and have had books 4 and 5 in my Kindle Library for some time. Yesterday was a rainy  day in Missouri and rather then do housework or nap, I settled down with a cup of tea, my fuzzy blanket in my recliner in front of my big picture window. With the dogs napping at my feet, the gentle rain falling outside and the birds performing for the Birdfeeder Olympics on my outdoor deck I finally clicked on Book 4, Claimed By Fire.  Before I knew it, several hours had passed , my husband was calling me to dinner and I had completed book 4 and was more than halfway through the final book, Freed By Fire. I was so engrossed in the world of dragon shifters, magic and finding true love, I had no idea where time had gone. The house could have been on fire, zombies could have invaded my lower 40 acres , the world could have ended, and I would have never known, as I was far away on the West Coast in another dimension!  This is exactly why I love reading anything Kimber White writes! She has the ability to transport you to another place and time, with the magic of her written words.  Since this is why I read, a brief escape from everyday life, Kimber White has earned a special place on my bookshelf. The Dragon keepers series by Kimber White is a wonderful way to spend a lazy rainy afternoon.

The series consists of five books that follow the five billionaire dragon shifters, The Brandhart brothers, whose very successful enterprise is based in the Gold Coast of Chicago. Of course, the brothers are sexy alpha billionaires as we all know that dragons love their treasure!   The brothers are a dying breed, their mother the Dragon Queen, Avelina, having survived the shifter and mage war, brought the brothers to life over 300 years ago.  As far as the Brandharts and the world are concern, dragons are extinct. However, Avelina, continues to search for other dragon survivors who may be living in hiding. She sends her sons on quests throughout the world, following clues that might lead to finding others like themselves. The brothers are all beginning to show signs of “mating sickness” and are in danger of losing control of their dragons. Thus, finding their “fated mates” is imperative but to the brothers it may be as unlikely as the chances of finding anymore dragon shifters.

But there is more to this series then alpha males trying to find their “little woman”. Kimber’s heroines are not your submissive victim type females. Everyone of her female characters prove to be some  bad-ass women who know how to kick -ass and take names. Its torture to a protective alpha male, but it adds a little spice to the relationship. And boy is the sex spicy and just a little bit on the dangerous side given a dragons propensity to bursting into flame when worked up!

Like many paranormal romances, there is plenty of steamy love scenes. What I especially enjoy about Kimber’s writings is that the sex does not dominate the story. There is plenty of action, mystery, magic and intrigue to go along with the passionate love story that makes this a romance. There are twists and turns in the plot that you never see coming. And of course, there is always a happily ever after waiting for you at the end.

Each of the five books are listed as a “stand-alone” novel. I would recommend reading the books in order they were written in order to get the full gist of the story. Also, it would be a shame to miss out on how masterfully Kimber weaves the storyline together and how her characters develop and grow as the series progresses. I am convinced you will come to love all the individuals in the tales and hate to leave the Brandharts behind.

I loved all five books and gave each 5-star rating. Unlike other series I have read, Lord of the Rings in particular, where one or two of the books are very well written and another just leaves you flat, in the Dragon Keepers collection, all five books are excellent. I found myself unable to put the books down. I lost a lot of sleep and my house looks like a tornado struck it, but it was well worth it. The books held my attention from page 1 till the end. And at the end I found myself not wanting to say goodbye to my new book friends. I hope this is not the last time I see or hear from the Brandhart dragons. If we are lucky, Kimber White has a sequel or two in mind.

So, if you are looking for your next good read, fall in love with Kimber White’s dragons. It is well worth the fall and like me, you may find yourself soaring away with dragons, magic and most of all love.

Let's all hear it for dragons!

I have been on a shifter kick lately, probably because before that I was reading some very psychological books and you can only read so many of those before you begin to question your sanity. Anyway, this novel is about Xander and Shae. Xander, a dragon shifter is one of only six dragons left in the world, all murdered centuries ago. He and his brothers struggling to fight the madness that comes to dragons who don't mate. But how can you find a mate when there are no dragons?

Shae just wants to try and make the best of life. A runaway taken in by an eccentric bookstore owner who happens to be a witch, she's a human who knows about magic but never really concerned herself with it until dragons break into the store and destroy everything she ever knew. Now she's being protected by a dragon that she can't help being attracted to but she knows something is wrong....just not what.

I felt that Shae was a very believable and likable character and that this was a fun read. Don't get me wrong, the first page of this novel had me cringing so much I don't know how I survived it...it was like reading Edward Cullen's diary. But I promise that only lasted for the first page or so. Then you enter into a world of shifter family dynamics, hard promises and possible love-or lunacy, but they are pretty similar.

I enjoyed how White didn't just focus on the romance and how she clearly shows how much Xander loves his family and how much they love him. It is just as big in the novel as the romance and that is how it should be done. Shout out to you Kimber White for getting it right!

Finished the book in two sittings, though I debated just writing the review after one sitting and calling it quits because the book didn't have anything really unique. Very blah. But decided to stick it out to see if it would improve. It didn't.

Writing is simplistic, very short sentences and most of them are to-be or overused verbs instead of something with action and depth. (not a book example, but captures the feel) "He was tall and walked across the room in large steps to me." vs. "His long legs ate distance as he closed on me." - The longer the story goes, the more simplistic the sentence structure and words, making the story - blah.

Where the book shines: the sex scenes pop well - each a different location, emotional state, and move the story forward.

Other issues
(1) Xander needs to grow a spine. I hate it when a character knows they need to share something with their love interest and decide to delay it until it has to come out. In this case, he blew off the talking for over a week - while they were completely alone. He actively avoided the issue by changing form and flying away time and time again ... and the woman let him.
(2) Bad timeline. Long breaks of nothing happening during a story with "In-Peril" moments, things should have been much tighter. Dude flies off with his bros ... I thought it would be for a day, turns out to be over a weak, and the mother ... anyway, that gets into spoiler territory. Illogical actions. Illogical breaks in action.
(3) Mother knows best gets old.

Much better material for Dragon Shifters out there. Pass on this one.

Zander and his dragon shifter brothers are possibly the last dragons. If they don't find mates they will ...need to read this one. Now they are secret protectors. When Zander hears a scream and enters the bookstore to see an old man and young woman being attacked by wolf shifters he steps in.

So begins the battle of trust. She didn't know there were shifters. She didn't know he was a dragon. Now she does. What will the family do with their secret revealed? There are so many problems for them ahead. The story takes place in a wonderful world created by the author. Ms. White even ties in an old enemy from a previous series. The characters are each individual and I look forward to more stories. Another female character who shall be nameless to prevent spoilers is more than interesting and adds plenty of spice.

The family searches for something that may not exist but is very important to them. Will they find it?

Shea is strong despite her situation. The two of them have obstacles that seem impossible. The only salvation for the reader--this is a romance. Thankfully.

I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next one. They are standalone with an underlying conflict that I'm sure will continue. The author never disappoints and she sure didn't with this one. Enjoy. I sure did.

Xander is on the hunt for something rare when he's told by his mother to go to a shop to look for it. But when he gets there, wolf shifters have already broken in and are terrorizing Shae and her foster father. Xander is too late to save her foster father but he whisks Shae away and brings her back to his home where his brothers and mother are. But Shae isn't sure what's going on, she knows about shifters from her foster father since he was a powerful mage but Xander is something different, something that shouldn't exist. She's not sure how safe she'll be in a house full of dragon shifters but with the wolves still out to kill her, she doesn't have much choice but to stay with Xander.

Xander can hardly believe it when he realizes that Shae is his fated mate. How could fate be that cruel. A human would never survive the mating or giving birth to a dragon baby so he has to find a way to stay away from her. Not that she's making that easy since she feels the mating pull as well. Shae is willing to risk it in order to be with him and he's doing everything in his power to keep her safe not only from the wolves but from himself as well.

The twist at the end of this book was so good! I love how they ended this.

Xander us a 300 year old dragonshifter on the search for Dragonstone. It leads him to Professor Marvin's used books and Baubles. Only when he gets there he see the place under attack by wolves and finds a treasure even greater is Dragonstone. A mate.
Shae has been abandoned first my her mom then her day. She has no one. At 13 she ran away from a group home and hid out in Marvin's shop. He became her foster father and his shop home. Today should have been like any other day but the wolves attacked and a mystery man showed up saving her.
Great story I love the characters. Lots of action, betrayal, mystery, intrigue, drama, drama and more drama on this emotional roller coaster ride. Wow. Fantastic background story and he has brothers so yeah there will be more stories. I can't wait to read them. I love how the author has linked her other stories into this one. If the rest of the series is like this one story don't miss it. I couldn't put it down

I'm not quite sure what I think about this book. Interesting? Definitely. Good writing? Honestly, some of the best writing of the last few Kindle freebies I've downloaded, as far as prose and readability goes. Love story? Pretty good. Spice? Definitely there.

So what's wrong? Well, I struggled. Especially the further I got into the book. I think it has something to do with the female MC pretty much giving up her life for the male MC. Yes, I get that events happened and she was unable to return to her home or job. Yes, I know she needs protected. But who just drops everything and says, "Yeah, I'll stay here with total strangers and mooch off them." I get tired of this trope, you know?

So I'm not sure... Interesting to start with but the more I read, the more it bothered me. If you like a fated mates romance in which the female is thrust into a new life, this is for you.

This book was a really different take on shifters, especially dragons. In this first read we meet Xander, a dragon shifter, he’s 300 years old along with his 4 other brothers they are the last remaining dragons in existence but they are also hidden and believed to be extinct. Unfortunately they all share a problem, they’re sick as none are mated. Without their true mates they’ll eventually go mad in dragon form, but fate has stepped in and Xander meets Shae, the only problem, she’s human and would never survive the mating, what will happen next?
This was a really good read, great plot, story, characters, you felt for each brother. I love series where each character gets their story but all are intermingled. Lots of angst, heartbreak and hurt but also sweet, loving, sexy moments. I really enjoyed it.

I love books about Dragon shifters and this one is going at the top of my list of favorites. Xander and his brothers are slowly dying because they have been unable to find their intended mates. Their mother keeps sending them on wild goose chases to try and track down pieces of Dragonstone. On one such excursion, Xander comes to the rescue of Shae, who is fixing to be attacked by a feral pack of wolfshifters. Once Xander gets near Shae he realizes that she is his intended mate, but no one can understand how this can be as she is a human and she would not survive giving birth to a hatchling, let alone survive the mating itself. Once I started this story, I had to keep reading because I really wanted to know what was going to happen. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series covering the other brothers. This book had a little bit of everything in it.

Great book. This is all about dragon shifters and fated mates. Shae Mackenna has lived on the streets since she was 13 years old but an eccentric old mage took her in and helps her out. A group of feral wolf shifters come in the store and kill her guardian and then go after her but she is saved by a dragon shifter named Xander. There is only Xander and his brothers and mother that are left of all the dragon shifters and are dying out and if they do not find their fated mates they will go rogue and have to be taken down. Now Shae is Xander's fated mate but also human and dragon shifters do not mix well and not many human can stand the birthing of a new shifter. Its really suspenseful and had a hard time putting it down. Very well written. Highly recommend.

Love the spin-off from The Wild Lake Wolves series. Dragons have always fascinated me and I like the way the author has written this book pertaining to them.

Without giving away a lot of the story let's just say Xander and Shae are the new start. Just to give you a hint this book will introduce you to put five potential new characters and hopefully the author is going to give us a new series for every single one of them. Xander has four brothers Kian, Gideon, Locn and Finn. Hopefully, we will also get a story about their mother The Last Dragoness Avelina.

I have voluntarily read and review this book without obligation to the author.

I'm giving it three stars, although. I don't really think any effort was put into this book, and I am sick so that's probably why I am rating it so high. I like dragons, hence why it got 3 stars for me.

The plot, basically dragons are extinct, and these 5 brothers are about to become lone dragons if they cannot find their mate. But plot-twist they can't mate with humans.

I still for the life of me do not know why the FMC is special, I know it has something to do with the mage dying, but like still confused.

The other bonus of this book is 5 hot brothers lol. But their mom is horrible-ish.

Time is running out for 4 dragon shifter brothers. Without a mate they will turn into dragons and stay that way till they finally die unless they find a mate or a dragon stone. Xander meets Shae and he has to protect her from wolf shifters trying to kill her. Can her and xander find love in time? Can she survive a dragon mating? No human ever has. Awesome story line, believable characters. This story contains sizzling lust, love, mystery, violence and twists that keep you rivoted to the story. Very hard to put down. This should be on your TBR list.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book of this series. What's not to like about dragons?! Shea and Xander definitely have a chemistry that I look forward to reading about with the remaining dragon brothers. I do enjoy reading a series where each character has their own story. In the beginning, I had no idea what would happen between Shea and Xander since she was 'human.' This author knows how to put a spin on things. I look forward to the second book in the series especially finding out in the synopsis that Gideon's mate is part wolf. I'm curious to see where that goes.

Really great concept, liked the story a lot. I felt that the personality dynamics were good and the characters have started developing nicely. But it also seemed like there was a lot missing. We really know nothing much at all about who the female love interest is, as an individual person. We don't have much clue what she likes, or has hopes for. We get more about the guy, but not a ton more. I did like the story being told, I just wish the author would've slowed down a little and spent more time on the characters themselves.

DNF @ 44%

I'll start with this sounded interesting. And probably would've been better if everything didn't happen at warp speed. Now, I'm use to fated mate tropes moving quicker than your average romance pace but good lord. This wasn't just fast though. My problem was the writing style. It was almost frantic with its choice of words and structure. And there was no emotional depth in the words. It was us being told about this and that and never experiencing it.

So honestly I tried to get into it but I just couldn't.
