Faithless

Dare to dream…

Dare to have it all…

Events co-ordinator Marie Dawson never thought she would experience the all-consuming passionate love she once believed in. Married and divorced by 25, she had long resigned herself to being single and independent, until ruggedly handsome security specialist and ex-army powerhouse, John Walker, barged his way into her life.

Now, at the age of 42, Marie finally has it all: a successful business, a loving family, and a devoted man who can bring her to her knees.

Life is perfect. But perfection cannot endure in a relationship built on half-truths and secrets. And if there is one thing Marie is well practised in, it’s secrets. How to keep them, how to protect them, how to pretend they don’t exist; and after 23 years of stringently guarding hers, she knows just how dangerous and destructive they can be.

Underneath her perfectly polished exterior, Marie hides a dark past – one she has dared not speak of in over two decades for fear of the consequences.

But she has always known that one day she would have to lay her secrets bear, and when the past and present finally threaten to collide, she is aware she may find herself more than faithless…

Faithless is the fourth instalment of the Fractured series and is a full-length novel.

Author Note:

This novel can be read as a standalone book, but throughout the story, there is cross-referencing to events within the last three novels. Although it isn’t essential to have read the full Fractured series, it is advisable due to the story arc, the various character backgrounds and their relationships.

If you've read the "Fractured" series then this book will be perfect for you.... I was so glad that Elle Charles has started to write about the other characters from her previous books, Marie features so much in Kara and Sloan's story and it was nice to find out about her life before Kara. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but this book really has you on the edge of your seat, I just didn't want to put it down and certainly didn't want the book to end. Elle Charles has a brilliant way of writing that makes you feel really connected to the characters. Fractured gets 5 HUGE stars from me and I can't wait for the next book. If you haven't read the Fractured series then I suggest you give it a go... you won't be disappointed!!!!!!

I have been waiting for Walker and Marie's story for years now and couldn't be more pleased. We always knew Marie had secrets but I could never imagine in all of my wildest dream just how heartbreaking they would be. I loved seeing all of the old gang again and hope Elle has more for them in the future. Great read, Marie and Walker get their happily ever after but not without some sacrifice and turmoil. If you haven't read the first 3 in the series you may want to not only because they are amazing but because some past events are mentioned throughout.

This is the fourth book in the series and you really need to have read the previous books before this one. I mostly enjoyed it it was pretty well written but I have to admit it was a little slow in places overall it is a good addition to the series and if you enjoyed the previous books you won't want to miss this one.

This ARC was provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I am late in the game to the Fractured Series, I did not read the previous three novels that follow the Kara and Sloan story. This book is not a one sitting reading, it is slow moving and at one point when John came to get Kara's things out of Marie's house, I considered DNFing the book. I think this book can be read as a standalone.

There are secrets abound in the relationship of John and Marie and the stress of all out it unraveling can feel crippling at times during the book. She slowly reveals some of her secrets after he reached the limit of her closing herself off and lost in the past. Marie carries a lot of her past with her in how she is in her life and the choices she makes.

Just like Marie, I had the fear that as soon as John learns everything that he is going to abandon her, judge her and she will be alone with her misery again. The grief could be felt through the words that Marie had to tell each time a secret was unraveled and the anger with every encounter with Joe. I love John for his toast to Patricia and Duncan. I would recommend this book to any new adult romance fan that likes a story that is beyond just romance.

Faithless,  Elle Charles

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance

I hadn't read the first three books, saw this was a stand alone and thought I could read it without the others. That was a mistake, there are so many references to events from first three books, and so many different characters that I was lost for a good part of the beginning. I did work out whop connected where and how but it took much of the joy out of the story for me and I think I'd have got along much better with this if I'd read those earlier books. My fault for misunderstanding the description.
Its a packed book, and a good length. Usually I'm all for that but maybe because I didn't know all the backstories at times it was a slog for me to get through and thinking of all those pages to come was so daunting that I nearly DNF it.
I did stick with it though, and its an interesting story, packed with the kind of drama I'd usually adore but which felt a bit OTT here, probably again because I just didn't know the whole story.
I did like the characters, they felt very realistic even if I did want to slap them a time or too.....

Stars: Three, an interesting read and I think IF I'd read those earlier books I'd have got far more from it.

I am being generous in giving this 2 stars. Most of the time, when I throw a book to the DNF pile, it automatically gets a 1 star rating. This being the 4th book in the series and the fact that I didn't really hate the previous books, I will upgrade this one. As it is, this is going to the DNF pile at 17%

This book just feels like the author wanted to drag out this world and needed a way to make Marie's story more interesting. Since at 17% we don't really know the issue yet (another thing that is really irritating me) and she and John are already in a loving relationship, it makes it hard to know what is going on. This gives it the same aimless feel of the previous books.

I went back and re-read my review of the last book, and due to the issues I had with it, I just couldn't stick with this one. I may pick it back up again, but probably not.

The entire reason I rated this four stars was when I read the section about what actually happened to Faith. My emotions were all over the place and I could hold in how I felt. Otherwise, I would’ve rated this a three star because there was quite a bit of rambling that had me skipping sections. I felt like closing the book and starting something else. But, that’s not me and I pushed along. I do plan on reading more from this author in the future.
