Darcy’s life savings went into buying the perfect boat to start her business – or so she thought. Soon, she began to wonder – was it haunted? Perhaps she should have listened when it told her to ‘Get Off’.
Darcy got an amazing boat for an amazing deal. It was perfect – until she’d paid for it. The boat had a mind of its own and it didn’t seem to like her. From the very first day, everything went wrong. By the end of day one she was black and blue with bruises.
Then the engines kept failing, the compass refused to be true, the lights and horn came on randomly, and the boat lurched side to side in calm waters. Add to that an annoying novelty voice recording she couldn’t locate, and she wondered if she’d made a mistake.
But when the boat nearly killed her best friend, Darcy knew she had a real problem.Who was behind the phantom voice? Why was the boat turning into a death trap? Can Darcy figure out what’s behind the strange happenings on her new boat before it kills her, or someone else?

Haunting on the high seas! Darcy has invested every penny, or farthing, on this venture. Her new pleasure boat is meant to be her livelihood. Of course it needs a bit of sprucing up, it's hardly new, but neither ancient and very well crafted. On the test run everything mechanical was ship-shape! So she expects with some elbow grease, scrubbing, screw tightening and polish, its off to the bank.
That is until the first actual day of cleaning and handy work aboard as new owner. Then strange clumsy episodes and accidents start. On the try out of the engines next day, mechanical failures begin. The odd voice she had decided must be from a different boat when she was unable to locate it returns with a vengenge! Is Darcy going mad? Has she bought a lemon? When Darcy's best friend agrees to go along next time out and verify her sanity, things just may turn deady!
With all the drama and thrills we have come to expect from Cat Knight, The Haunting of the Lady Grey really delivers. Timelines both in the present with Darcy and the past with the origin of her ghost, as well as good plot keep you turning the pages straight through. I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Really enjoyed this book. It was engaging the entire way through. I appreciate books that don't add a lot of things that are offensive to me as a Christian. Foul language and talk of physical intimacy are not necessary if the author has a good imagination and is able to write without all the fillers that in my opinion don't really add anything to the story. I sincerely believe that things can be written tastefully without making me feel like a "Peeping Tom"!
Having authors warn of possible offensive language and graphic physical intimacy makes it a lot easier when making the decision to read a book or pass on it. It's also great when you find an author you can follow whom you already know writes creatively as well as tastefully!
Ms. Knight has mastered the haunted house story. This one has a double-dose of suspense: a haunting and the terror of being all alone on a ship at sea when things start going wrong.
Darcy's determination to make a go of her new charter venture made me enjoy the character since she was first introduced. It's good to read a ghost story where the female isn't a fragile damsel in distress who needs a man to swoop in and save her.
She isn't all hard-as-nails and overly bold either, which makes some female heroines seem unrealistic. She's just a woman who wants to survive, or lose her life's savings because the boat she bought is haunted.
Another great book from Cat Knight! I just love all of Cat Knight's books. I was hooked from the very beginning and kept guessing until the very end. The characters are believable and likable. Great mystery. If you like a great mystery then this book is for you. I can't wait for the next book to come out. It was a fast and fun read. It had me turning the pages trying to figure it out.
🔝💯😃 love love this scary book!! next to the haunted hide away I just can't stop reading this book best book ever written warning from me do your homework on what ever you want to buy you might be buying a ghost that comes with it
This was a pleasing, if rather silly, short story. It was the kind of read most suited to a leisurely plane or train journey. It doesn't tax the brain, is not offensive, and won't give you nightmares. All in all, not bad.
It was a nice easy read, parts were quite exciting especially when Mandy was in the water. It seemed to miss out on the horror side. But still quite readable. I will certainly read more of Cat Knight.
Another really good book. I like Cat Knights writing and have read most of her books and have not been disappointed . This book is a little different but I think you would enjoy reading it.
awesome book by Cat Knight. I couldn't put it down. I started it and couldn't put it down. kept me intrigued throughout the whole book. I can't wait to read the next book.
