Oxford Bookworms offer students at all levels the opportunity to extend their reading and appreciation of English. There are six stages, taking students from elementary to advanced level. At the lower stages, many of the texts have been specially written for the series, to provide elementary and lower-intermediate students with an introduction to real reading in English. At the higher stages, most of the books have been adapted from works originally published for native speakers.
Various is the correct author for any book with multiple unknown authors, and is acceptable for books with multiple known authors, especially if not all are known or the list is very long (over 50).
If an editor is known, however, Various is not necessary. List the name of the editor as the primary author (with role "editor"). Contributing authors' names follow it.
Note: WorldCat is an excellent resource for finding author information and contents of anthologies.
loved reading all these paragraphs about mary queen of scots , she suffered so much and died without even the chance to see her little baby talk, i think history held so much love, betrayal, backstabbing, art, hate and everything you could possibly imagine.
mary is a fighter and she should be a role model to all these feminine rights.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a simplistic way of telling what was a tragic story of a child queen who ruled with her heart and ultimately paid the price.
The story is brought to us by Bess Curle, who is present when her lady writes a final letter to her son King James as she knows she is going to be sentenced to death. In the letter, she tells him about how she came to be a child queen, how she fell in love with his father and others after him. And how she was led into certain situations by really being totally nieve, as a spoilt child monarch would be.
For anyone else who has seen any films about Elizabeth, especially Elizabeth: The Golden Age, her Cousin Mary is portrayed as a ruthless, crazy queen who would do anything to have the English throne, this book, however, shows us that is not the case. It shows a fragile woman who has been held in prison for over 20 years.
When she has a visit from Lord Shrewsberry to tell her her Cousin has written her to say she will be sentenced to death the following day. She prepares herself with the dignity of a true monarch. And still loved by her faithful servants.
Some of her final words to the execution, after he apologised for what he is about to do are:
"I am old and tired, and you are going to open my prison doors for me" I thought this was a very sad ending to a tragic tale of power in the ruthless world of the royal houses. From reading other stories about women in this period it must have been a precious time for all involved.
Similar to 'Henry and His Six Wives' in terseness of context, this book offers children a simple glimpse into the life of a woman who once had men at her feet.
Your Majesty, my son James, perhaps, .....
Somebody knows I like to read books in english and is always looking for them even tho I've told him a thousand times that bookstores don't have english books here (unless they're academic stuff) but he still looks for them anyways and found 3 books that are retellings for people who are beginning to learn english and even tho they're not the real thing it's the thought what counts! with help from my sister he even took the time to pick themes that I would like so! anyways, I love Mary and the painting they chose as a cover <3
After listening a few times one chapter before sleeping in my bed at night, and the next day reading it for reviewing was a very good way for me. Her pain and sadness was able to feel with my ears from the beautiful voice, and eyes from sentences by wonderful author. However, I couldn't listen the last chapter only one time because I was very suffered, and I couldn't read it.
Reading this book again and I found out I really actually like it. From what I watched in the movie "Elizabeth: The Golden Age", Mary, Queen of Scots (a.k.a. Mary Stuart), Elizabeth's cousin, was the bad guy who teamed up with France and tried to overthrow Elizabeth to take her throne. However, after reading this, I've found out another side of this noticeable woman in English history, and I quite sympathized with her. She just wanted to rule her country, which was Scotland, but then got up in all the lies and conspiracies from people that wanted her dead. And she even didn't have the chance to live with her son, to see him, talk to him and to say goodbye. That's so sad for such a woman who just wanted things that belonged to her, and did no harm for others.
I'm kinda baffled and don't know what image of this woman I've seen is true: the bad guy trying to take Elizabeth's throne or the pitiful woman who lost everything that should have been hers. But overall, this book did do its job wonderfully, which is retelling to readers slices of a strong royal woman's life.
" 'The Lord my God is my one true friend, ' she said. 'I give my life, oh God, into your hands.' " This was the last message which the Queen Mary of Scotland left when she was executed. She was captured by the Queen Elizabeth, and spent more than twenty years in prison in England. She must have been really afraid of execution, but she seems not to be so afraid of death in this book. If I were her, I could never ever be like her, and I might suicide while capturing in the prison. This strongly tells me how she survived through such a tough time.
I think life in medieval era is much harder for women than life in present time. Women were despised by men, and treated as valueless things. I am so glad that I was born in this age and have freedom.

Q. Do you want to be a Queen? A. Yes, I want to be a Queen one day because I think Queen live a luxurious life. However, I also think Queen has many works and Queen’s life is hard. So I want to be a Queen just one day.
This story tells me about England and Scotland in 1500s. It is interesting and I think a queen of Scotland was loved by many people.
1. Oxford, stage 1 2. 07/27/2016: 120 minutes 3. England; history; 1500s; famous; queens; Protestant; too young 4. The young girl face to be queen and it was too young to die. 5. The reason why I choose this book is because it is the famous story, but I don't know about it at all. Many girls want to be a queen when they are children, but it is not easy and I did not think so. In this nonfiction story, she was faced to many difficult things and finally, she was killed. I wondered that the life of her was happy or unhappy.

Simple book putting a more personal face to the life one of the most famous names in Scottish-English royalty, one who was both loathed and admired. Many details are omitted but some of the key events are narrated as a personal letter to her son, James.
