War rages in the Pacific. The Japanese are losing ground. The GIs of the 164th Regiment must pay for every bloody yard. Platoon Sergeant Carver and the soldiers of Able Company are thrust into the battle for the Philippine Islands. Each island, big or small must be taken and the Japanese occupiers killed or captured. Each island is another challenge. Another way to die. With the help of Filipino resistance fighters, the U.S. Army relentlessly moves forward. Each campaign takes a deadly toll and further demoralizes them. To Carver and O’Connor, the war seems endless. Every day of combat decreases their odds of survival. Can they find hope in the future? Will they survive this fight just to be thrust into another desperate battle? This is the third and final gritty war novel in the 164th Regiment Series.
Non-stop action thriller. True definition of a page-turner!
Still was fiction though so all of it was not entirely believable but still plausible. If you want an entertaining read and be totally absorbed in non-stop action than this is for you!
Chris has amazing talent. I have enjoyed all three books. I would pay $15.00 a book to keep reading hopefully his next series. Thank you Chris for sharing you unbelievable talent. I wish you the best of luck in.the future.
This is the 3rd and final installment of this excellent WWII historical fiction series. It has stayed true to its heritage by being fast-paced, action filled, and, yet, totally believable - the hallmark of great fiction. It has also humanized its two heroes by introducing romance into their lives without getting mushy or melodramatic. Once again, this book is best appreciated if read in its order in the series. I am looking forward to more exciting reads from Chris Glatte.
Excellent series on the war in the pacific. Makes you feel like you are there in the middle of the fighting. The stories continue along with real people, not superheros. Truly makes you appreciate the people who have fought for our country and makes you proud to be called an American. Can't go wrong with the entire series.
Well thought out series with interesting characters. Enjoyed my time reading about this era and these men. Story seemed hard to believe but I am sure much of what those men did I couldn’t comprehend. Thanks for writing about it.
It’s a journey that takes you through the jungle of a hellish war. Death, destruction, hope, love and hate are all part of the mix. It’s a must read book. Don’t miss it!
