The wacky Winchester witches are back, and this time the insults are flying fast and furious.
Join Bay, Clove, Thistle and Aunt Tillie as they share a magical Christmas, travel through a crazy soap opera world, and take on the government when they’re convinced an unidentified flying object went down in a nearby field.
This three-book omnibus includes A Witchmas Carol, All My Witches and Close Encounters of the Witchy Kind.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Wicked Witches of the Midwest Fantasy #4-6 I have to say that this set of fantasy books in the "Wicked Witches of the Midwest" world, is my least favorite. Plodding is the best thing I can say about them. Besides the fact that they do not have the same narrator as the mystery series in this world (at least they all have the same narrator for continuity but it's not the same as the narrator in the main series) the narrator, Lesley Ann Fogle, does nothing for me. I am not a fan.
Witchful Thinking (Wicked Witches of the Midwest Fantasy #4-6) – Started: November 29, 2020 4) A Witchmas Carol – Read: November 29, 2020 Aunt Tillie wreaks vengeance on Bay, Clove, Thistle and their significant others after the latest generation of Winchesters decides to spend Christmas alone with their significant others instead of with their family. Bay and Landon play out the witchy version of A Christmas Carol. Narrator: Lesley Ann Fogle. Though I like the continuity, I’m still not overly fond of this narrator. 5) All My Witches – Read: November 29-30, 2020 Aunt Tillie curses Bay, Landon, Clove, Sam, Thistle and Marcus into a soap opera world, giving them all typical soap opera backgrounds. I have to say that though this one was funny, it was also very tedious. Narrator: Lesley Ann Fogle. 6) Close Encounters of the Witchy Kind – Read: November 30, 2020 Something crashes on some land bordering the Winchester land and government agents immediately swarm the area. Alien conspiracy theories abound in Hemlock Cove. Bay and Landon find themselves on either side of the government line. Who will be the first to cross it? Narrator: Lesley Ann Fogle. The continuity is great… The narrator is not.
I just skimmed over the first two stories because I had read them already. They were great fun and the refresher was nice. I loved the alien story line and Me Little was fun to read about this story. I am curious if Amanda M Lee is going in a new direction with Clove. Plus every time the girls end up at their dad's Aunt Tillie shows up, wonder how she always seems to know. Of course she is Aunt Tillie so she would say she knows everything. Different dynamic with Landon and Bay and interesting and amusing to see how it played out.
Found a couple of mistakes, but overall, not to bad. I absolutely did not like books 4 and 5 where Aunt Tillly put them in her stories. Very bad idea! If I encounter another one like 4 and 5, I will skip right over it and not read it. They are just too far out there and made no sense at all. I was very disappointed in books 4 and 5.
