Common-sense Approach to Identifying Organizing Obstacles - Behavior Clusters

I'm thrilled to write a review of Denise Allan's and Vlasta Hillger's book Declutter and Thrive. I know both of them as creative, caring, deeply skillful Organizers through our shared membership, and close community, in the Seattle Area Chapter of our professional society, the National Association of Productivity and Professional Organizers.

I loved their comfortable, folksy style - as a "good read," it was one of the most approachable organizing books I've ever laid hands on and I read lots!

Their common-sense chart, presenting the struggles we all see in ourselves as clusters of behaviors which we can examine and re-form, expressed in very commonplace activities, will probably get you nodding your head "That's me!". The chart will readily let you identify an appropriate starting point for your efforts to alter those behaviors because the model is so deeply rooted in "day-to-day," real-life tasks. Their approach may make more sense to some readers than approaches which identify personality types as barriers to success. Denise and Vlasta also recognize the impact innate learning differences such as ADD can have on an individual's organizing style and their conversation encompasses those challenges.

In addition, they did a fabulous job of identifying the top stumbling blocks impeding most people's progress. The book is an excellent quick guide for getting going.
