Wyatt #1

TAINTED

Rate this book
Rhys Wyatt is as arrogant as he is beautiful, and Ivy Bishop has been infatuated with him forever. The night Ivy makes her move, it ends horribly, leaving her utterly heartbroken.

Three years later, Ivy is dating Blaine Wyatt; Rhys’s loving and tender younger brother. With Rhys and their past somewhat out of her mind, everything about her relationship with Blaine seems perfect. But when Blaine leaves Ivy alone all summer; neither of them anticipated Rhys to return, or him and Ivy to be stuck living under the same roof…

Rhys never believed Ivy would be all grown up and everything he’s ever wanted – gorgeous, perfectly alluring, and an infuriatingly tempting beauty he has to keep his hands off of. But the more they try to resist each other, the more intense their urges become, until one night changes everything, and Wyatt brothers will never be the same.

This is my go-to type of book if I’m in a reading slump, a dramatic and intense romance, one that can be put down and picked up again and can easily ensnare me in what’s happening.

Tainted didn’t disappoint in that respect, it made for easy but enjoyable reading. Now I know there are those of you out there who aren’t into the good old love triangle and sometimes I can find myself in that group but other times I find that I want the drama that a good triangle creates.

This particular one involves brothers so I was expecting some fireworks, luckily I got them but even better than that, without trying to give too much away, there was one point that I thought maybe the author was going to try and take the easy way out which I would have been disappointed in, but she didn’t. It was kind of unexpected and I appreciated that I was able to be surprised by the characters actions.

The characters are very typical of this kind of book, Rhys is the hot alpha footballer who is a bit of a player and Ivy the cute, smart, girl next door type who is convinced that he would never go for her. I loved their chemistry, and that they also turned out to be a little more than what I’d pegged them as. Rhys has a vulnerable and selfless side, he wants Ivy to make the best decision for her, no matter the outcome for him and Ivy, who is kind of feisty, makes mistakes and ends up needing to be a bit selfish so that she can grow.

I think the one thing that maybe annoyed me a little was that there wasn’t more of Blaine in the book, we know that he and Ivy are together but we don’t really get to see them being a couple. We hear about it through Ivy but I think I would have liked to get a little more chemistry between them before he disappeared off, just so that the tension would have been top notch.

I’m looking forward to my next Amanda Cowen book and I have noticed that this is the first book in a Wyatt series so I’m looking forward to seeing what follows this one.

This is the first book in of the brand new Wyatt series. Loved this book. I was hooked from the start to the end and never wanted to put it down. This is a great twist on a classic love triangle that will keep you wanting more.

First to set the tone is to introduce everyone. You have Ivy and Eddie Bishop who are brother and sister. Then you have Rhys Wyatt, Eddie's best friend, and Blaine, Rhys's brother. Everyone has grown up around each other with the age difference not too far apart. Ivy and Blaine became really good friends and she has had a crush on Rhys since forever.

Ivy has only had eyes for Rhys, but when one night leaves her picking up the pieces of her heart she has to wonder if she will ever find someone who will love her for who she is and will she be able to put Rhys out of her thoughts for good.

Three years goes by and a lot has changed. Rhys has turned into a huge party animal and was sent back home to clean up his act. Blaine and Ivy are a couple and Ivy's feelings for Rhys are long gone. Ivy is back at her summer job at the Wyatt family's resort and is staying at their ranch house, as per her boyfriend Blaine's request without the knowledge that Rhys is there too.

I can't wait for book 2.

All Ivy Bishop ever dreamed of was Rhys Wyatt. From a very young age she knew her heart belonged to him. The only problem was that he was the unattainable man whore.

Rhys Wyatt loves the ladies or so he portrays. No commitments just a steady stream of nameless faceless girls to distract him from the truth.

I wanted to love this story but I fear I received a very unedited copy. The grammatical errors were too vast and had me losing focus. I believe that with a good edit I could really love this story and the characters.

Book one of the brand new Wyatt series, Tainted by Amanda Cowen brings big time drama to a small town setting. Two brothers and a girl stuck in the middle with the past and present colliding, leaving everyone more emotional and confused than ever before. No one could have guessed how one typical summer away from school would somehow change the lives of so many people.

First to set the tone is to introduce everyone. You have Ivy and Eddie Bishop who are brother and sister. Then you have Rhys Wyatt, Eddie's best friend, and Blaine, Rhys's brother. Everyone has grown up around each other with the age difference not too far apart and as for families go, everyone got along real well. Ivy and Blaine became really good friends and since forever, Ivy has had a crush on Rhys. With college looming around the corner taking Rhys out of state, Ivy finally decides to make her move, only to be quickly rejected.

Three years goes by and a lot has changed. Rhys has turned into a huge party animal and was sent back home to clean up his act. Blaine and Ivy have been a couple(don't know when that started) and Ivy's feelings for Rhys are long gone. Ivy is back at her summer job at the Wyatt family's resort and is staying at their ranch house, per Blaine's request, without the knowledge Rhys is there too. Now making money isn't the only thing Ivy has to worry about when buried feelings slowly rise back up to the surface for a certain older brother.

I know Tainted is about a love triangle but I honestly didn't see why Blaine and Ivy were together. He is gone right away so you don't see the two hanging out, so based off their conversations and Ivy's inner thoughts, I wasn't feeling the love. I think the rejection from Rhys is what pulled these two together which does not make a good relationship foundation. And for someone so sweet, Blaine could be very controlling and manipulative. Not in a mean way but more of laying on the guilt to get what he wanted and I didn't like that at all.

Tainted was a pretty quick paced storyline and easy to read and stay engaged in. I like that the drama wasn't over the top and written in a way that was relatable. I also enjoyed the shift from being all about the boys to Ivy wanting to find her own path in life. For the most part I found her quite naive so it was great to see that change. I do like that Amanda Cowen is writing a series for these characters because there is plenty left in the air for everyone else. For this being my first of her work, Tainted was a great introduction and has given me a new author to be on the lookout for.

I have read two other books by this author, so when I saw that she had another book releasing soon, I jumped at the chance to review it. If you are a sucker for a good love triangle than this book is definitely for you. The right boy, the bad boy, brothers, nonetheless and the one girl who can't decide if she should risk it all for the one who shattered her heart three years earlier.

Ivy Bishop has only had eyes for Rhys Wyatt, but when one night leaves her picking up the pieces of her heart she has to wonder if she will ever find someone who will love her for who she is and will she be able to put Rhys out of her thoughts for good. Dating his brother was never really part of the equation. But, Blaine makes her happy and takes good care of her. Leaving her alone for the summer was never his plan, but he feels that his and Ivy's relationship is strong enough to test the separation. To make matters worse his older brother has returned home and he and Ivy will be under the same roof. With Rhys and Ivy's history, this is a recipe for disaster. More like it adds fuel to the fire!

Rhys Wyatt is a man-whore, to put it mildly. He is all about the conquest, adding those notches to his bedpost. He doesn't care about the women he beds, his only concern is getting what he needs to scratch the itch. The guy is arrogant, self-centered and conceited. He only cares about his own feelings and not the wreckage he leaves as the women drop like used wet towels after a shower. As long as his needs are met, who cares. Finding out that he and Ivy will be under the same roof for the next few months only creates more tension once he gets a glimpse of the beautiful, sexy, woman that she has turned into. Now he has no choice but to keep his libido in check, something that is getting harder to do each day.

I really liked this story. I felt drawn into the story and could not put it down. The characters are engaging, frustrating and tolerable...lol You will see what I mean when you read it. Overall, I would recommend Tainted to anyone who doesn't mind a good love triangle. One can only hope that these brothers will make it out in one piece at the end. Grab your copy today!

I was extremely (and pleasantly) surprised, about half of this book is written in Rhys’ POV and the other is in Ivy’s. Usually we are given the women’s POV and left guessing what’s going on the head of the male character. This is the first book I've read by Amanda Cowen and she sure knows how to write a romance novel! I read this book in one night. I just couldn’t put it down. These characters were very thought out and had such unique personalities that you could read a monologue and know exactly who was speaking without having a name behind it.

I will be the first to admit the plot was a little obvious. Girl loves older brother’s best friend, best friend is a man whore, girl gets her heart broken, girl grows up and is dating someone else, best friend sees her and falls in love. It’s a very predictable story but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The plot was a little different in that Ivy was dating Rhys’ brother. That definitely added to the already difficult love triangle.

Ok, let me start by saying I had been in a relationship like Ivy and Blaine and while it can be romantic it’s also very toxic. Blaine was controlling and was very attached to Ivy. So much so he didn’t want her sleeping in the bunkhouse while he was away so he made her promise to sleep at the Wyatt house. I never liked Blaine and Ivy together but that’s probably I’m a sucker for the “other guy”. Rhys and Ivy’s relationship was always strong and complicated and I love how Cowen was able to pull everything together.

This book was incredibly easy to read and flowed perfectly. I wasn’t left guessing or wondering why a character acted the way they did. I never had to reread a sentence or paragraph because I thought I missed something. Cowen did an excellent job making a predictable story fun and exciting to read.

That ending!!! <3 <3 <3 I absolutely love how Cowen ended this book. I’m all about fairytale endings so I wanted the ending to go slightly different but I’m happy overall.

I wish we could hear more about Rhys and Ivy’s future but it sounds like the next books will follow other characters. Probably with Rhys and Ivy in the background. If you’re looking for a romance novel with a severe love triangle then this is the book for you.

This is a new author for me and I'm super excited because I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to dive into some of Amanda Cowen's other works ASAP! I may or may not already be reading one and have a few others on my TBR list already ;) One of the first things I discovered I loved about this story was the way she describes their gorgeous surroundings. The scene building? It made me long to visit Montana and Wyoming and explore all the seemingly untouched areas of our little part of the universe.

Rhys Wyatt is the right amount of charming and arrogant while his brother Blaine is sweet and devoted.

Rhys Wyatt. Ivy Bishop. Blaine Wyatt - while the story centers around these three, you'll also notice some very entertaining and semi swoon worthy secondary characters peeping in throughout the story. Tainted is listed as Wyatt #1, so I'm reeaalllyyy hoping that means we'll eventually see Wyatt #2 and it will have more of my favorite secondary characters taking the spot light!

I obviously don't want to say too much about the story, because duh, spoilers. But I do really want to say how much I enjoyed the story and the journey that Ivy took throughout it.

A lot of the time I struggle when a female lead doesn't really know herself; when she struggles with her individuality, doubts her self-worth and constantly battles the invisible force that seems to keep holding her back from achieving what SHE wants in life. Therefore I found myself cheering when Ivy realizes what she's been allowing to go on in her life and begins to change things for the better.

I had high hopes for this book. The blurb pulled me in as soon as I read it. I liked the whole concept but I kept having this feeling while reading that i need something more.

Don't get me wrong i liked this book. Rhys with his intense eyes and smoldering looks keeping his feelings for Ivy a secret for 4 years. I think my main problem with this story was Ivy.
I didn't like how she choose Blain because he was safe. Since when is love safe??? :P
But she redeemed herself with her departure for me. She and Rhys both need time to grow up and finally find a way back to each other.

Overall this story was an OK read. Not my favorite but definitely not my last because I see a lot of potential for me to start loving this author. So this time is a -4* for me.

What I liked the most about this book is that the author has kept the drama just right. For me, I realized that the story wasn't progressing as fast as I thought when I saw the page numbers. The author takes her time to build the characters, the scenes, and makes you feel involved.

I wouldn't call this a page turner, but it is definitely a story where you do want to know what happens next. So, like me, you may not be binge reading this one, but you are definitely going to be invested in the story. And I think that is commendable.

What didn't work for me was the laxed editing. Too many typos and grammar errors for my liking, which also were a reason why I progressed slowly (with respect to how much I read in one sitting) with this one.

Tainted by Amanda Cowen is book One in the Wyatt Series. This is the story of Rhys Wyatt and Ivy Bishop.
Ivy has always had a crush on Rhys but the one time she attempts to make a move it doesn't take him long to turn her away. That was a few years ago but now she is dating his younger brother Blaine who always seem to like her. When Blaine goes away for the summer it seems Rhys comes back into the picture for her.
This was a good love triangle story.

I didn’t agree with Ivy and her ideas most of the time, but that didn’t stop this from being a steamy NA read. The chemistry between Ivy and Rhys is palpable, and even though it’s wrong for them to be together, I couldn’t help but root for them. Perhaps I didn’t agree with the decisions and thoughts of the main characters most of the time, but this read certainly threw me back to being young (college-aged) and in love.

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the story! There were a couple times I was scratching my head or wanting to yell words of wisdom to Ivy, but in the end she made a smart decision. The characters are believable and for the most part you like most of them =P I finished this novel in two days, and it definitely makes me want to read more by this author!

Tainted
tells the story of Ivy and Rhys. Ivy’s been in love with Rhys for such a long time but because of certain events, ends up with his brother Blaine. Rhys is your typical arrogant yet handsome guy and even though he doesn’t let it show, he cares deeply for Ivy. They cannot be together and they don’t share their feelings with each other until Ivy and Rhys are staying at the same house without Blaine…

Tainted was such a fun idea, I mean, a love triangle with two brothers! It reminded me of The Vampire Diaries because Elena was together with Stefan but then decided she also liked Damon. Back to Tainted: I never really liked Blaine even though he was supposed to be the good brother. Rhys has always been my number one in Tainted!

I really liked how Tainted ended. It wasn’t your typical happily ever after and I think that it made the book even better than it already was. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more books written by Amanda Cowen!
