Tantalus #6

Final Contact

Rate this book
Kyllan, the Tribunal Elder, is not happy with the idea of taking the mother ship to Earth to save the remaining Sirens that have asked for help. There is no help for it. He has given his word to the Siren Queen and she will hold him to it. First, they must make a few stops along to way, to right some wrongs.

Kyllan couldn't have foreseen the trouble a simple trip that should have only taken a couple days to make could cause, but then again the people on Earth had never been easy to deal with. What makes it more complicated is that there is an Earth Warship on its way to Mars and perhaps even to Tantalus.

Word has spread amongst those that are being persecuted on Earth and they are reaching out to Kyllan for help in their most desperate hours. The gifted, like Adele, are being exterminated and, those that are not are being used in brutal, inhumane fashions. He is tempted to turn his back and walk away, leaving them to their plight, but cannot find it in his heart to say no. This triggers a private war between the members of his crew along with their allies on Earth, and a crime lord on Earth. It is time for the Tribunes Waterford and Vasalon to shine, which they do in stellar fashion. The Tantalarians are not alone in their fight though, for neither the Sirens nor those on Earth that are being saved intend to be left out of the game.

Will they manage to win the battle waging on the surface of Earth? And will they get back to Tantalus in time to protect their own planet?

Final Contact by M.A. Abraham is the 6th and final book in her Tantalus series. We have been leading up to this book for awhile, and Abraham does a wonderful job with this fantastic conclusion. As you already know from previous books, this Sci-Fi series revolves around three species (Tantalarian, Humans, and Sirens) working together on the planet, Tantalus.

Kyllan, is the Tribunal Elder, and he is in deep preparation with other Tribunes (Vasalon and Waterford) to begin the rescue trip to save humans and sirens, as well as watching for the oncoming dangerous Mercenary ship coming from Mars.

What was at first a simple trip to pick up the remaining Sirens on Mars to bring to the live on Tantalus, becomes a larger rescue attempt. Kyllan and his team plan to head for Earth to rescue not only some more Sirens, and many gifted humans, who are being terminated or tortured. One of those psychic humans is Errol, who is willing to give up his own life to save his human cohorts, and he will go a long way to help Kyllan & Vasalon to stop the evil man behind the destruction and the murder or many humans.

What follows is an excellent, enthralling, exciting story line that will lead us to the conclusion of this series. If you have not read this series, to tell too much more, would be spoilers. Final Contact was non-stop adventure from start to finish, and it was fun to watch how well the Tantalarians handle the dangerous people on Earth, as well as those on the ships coming to Mars or Tantalus. You really need to read this series to understand many of the characters, and the evil trying to uproot Tantalus.

M.A. Abraham did a fabulous job with this conclusion, which was very satisfying. Again, if you have not read this series, I do suggest you start with the first book to be able to understand this world. Final Contact was a great finish to this series, and I am happy to say there will be a spinoff in the future.

This is the 6th and final book of the Tantalus Series.
There is so much going on with the Tantalarians. The Elder Kyllan is on the mother ship rescuing the last of the Sirens on Mars and bringing them to Tantalus. Then he is on his way to Earth to save the Sirens there and also the human psychics who have helped the Sirens over the years and wouldn't be safe anymore. They will even bring some dolphins to Tantalus. In the meantime, they are keeping an eye on the two mercenary ships who want the riches from Tantalus.
This is an exciting, edge of your seat story written only the way this author can - she truly has an exceptional writing gift. There is plenty of action, suspense, drama, with a brilliant fist pumping ending. A must read and I highly recommend it and the whole series. Advise you start with the first book The First Contact.

We have so much going on in this story, but I promise you it is a wild ride. I sat on the edge of my seat for most of it. Kyllan (my BBF from the series ;) ) leading the united Tantalarian population in the rescue mission, and I couldn't be happier with the ending.
Thank you for an awesome series, I am sorry to see it end and I hope there will be more news of Tantalus in the future.

AUDIOBOOK edition

Mr. Callanan outdid the previous books in the series, I didn't think it possible. I didn't hear his voice, I heard the many characters, with their quirks and various accents, quite a few in this books, I 'saw' the story unfold. Made me wonder if there was another person in the booth with him, the female voices were really good. Mr. Callanan, I would listen to anything you narrated. - 5 stars

This is the eighth book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I sad we’re at the end of this series. I’ve really enjoyed it. The books in this series are all uncomplicated, at times predictable and at others a new twist gets tossed in, and some things happen too conveniently, yet I love them all.
This book starts as the Tantalarians leave the traitors on Mars and the Earthships have left Earth also on their way to Mars. The a Tantalarians are not returning home right away. They are headed to Earth to rescue some Sirens. In the process they hear from and learn of many others that also want to leave Earth. This mission is becoming complicated and the risk of exposure to the evil humans
is increasing. Then they have to make it home before the Earthship decides to venture toward Tantalus. Is this all too much?

This is the eleventh book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Brian Callanan ). He has done a great job with all the books in this series. His male and female character voices are well done and individualized. His voice is pleasant. He performs rather than reads the books.

There are no explicit sex scenes, but there are a few mild ones. There is not any excessive violence. There is the very occasional swearing.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Final Contact is the sixth and the last book in the Tantalus series. This was a thrilling and exciting conclusion; I'm sad to see it end. The series is a fantastic sci-fi romance with the perfect balance of romance, drama, suspense, action and, even humor.

Once again, I found myself enthralled by M. A. Abraham's exceptional writing, excellent plot, and intriguing characters. I'm glad that Callanan narrated the entire series. He is incredibly talented and a true voice actor. He can emulate various voices, personality quirks, and accents.

I highly recommend listing to Final Contact and the complete Tantalus series.

I have gone through this entire series and this book did not disappoint. As title states this is the final contact that the Tantalus people will have with Earth. This story had so many different perspectives and a lot going on that if you have not read a story from M.A. Abraham before you will be completely lost. When I first started this series I felt that way only because there are lots of people that play a part in the overall scheme of the series.

When this book first opens the Tribunal Elder, Kyllan, is trying to bring home the sirens that are located on Earth. He thinks that this is going to be a two-day pick up and will make his way back home. Little does he know that know, that was not the case. There are many people that are persecuted on Earth and also there are Tantalrins that are located on Earth that was exiled.

The deeper the story goes the more and more we realize that everything that the Tantalrins have dealt with since the beginning of this series all goes to one person. He is the cause of everything that has happened to them as well as the Mars exploration.

There is a lot of fighting, reunions, etc happening within this story. I love the reunions that Kyllan had as well as a more in-depth look into the Great Phoenix.

There are a lot of questions that have not been answered and I'm assuming that we have to come to our own conclusions but for me I want a straightforward answer. I do know this is the end of the series however I do hope that there is a spin-off so we get more inside of the phoenixes and why there are so many populating the planet. That was never answered and I am itching to figure out what is truly happening. There are also many characters that were introduced within the story and I want to know more about them. I want them to have their happily ever after and I want to know how they will survive on Tantalus.

I enjoy the narration of Brian Callanan. I am glad that he continued with the voices that I have come to associate with each character and I am looking forward to him narrating other series. He is a narrator that I will actively search for.

A very enjoyable story...

As with all the other books in this series, this was a great story. It’s greatness, however, was someone diminished by editing that was either very poor or not done at all. I’ve flagged a few problems (can be viewed on Goodreads.com), but a large percentage I didn’t mark as words missing or what might just be odd phrasing that left me too confused and frustrated to bother.

Saying all this, I really do enjoy these stories and will continue to read and purchase the books in the newly-announced spin-off series.

I hope you enjoy these books as much as I have.
