Do You Do Extras?

Rate this book
Grantley James is Hollywood’s newest action hero. He’s got the looks, the body but can barely crack a smile.

Phoebe Drinkwater is an Extra on Grantley’s new film. She’s happy and fun loving but will never be as beautiful as her parents’ imaginary youngest daughter, Melania.

How will Hollywood's newest sex symbol take it, when Phoebe literally bumps into him and tells him he has a fat head? Now's your chance to find out, but remember, whatever happens on set, stays on set.

At the centre of this beautiful romance are moments that will make you laugh out loud, and those which will pull at your emotions, but all in all you’ll get a stonking good read.

I live in Cheshire with my husband, two dogs and mum in law and write romantic humour and contemporary romance. My first two books, Guess Who I Pulled Last Night? and No Bra Required both stayed at number 1 on the Amazon Humour list for 3 & 4 weeks respectively. My ambitions of becoming a writer started at the age of 10 when I started writing poetry at school, and was given the honour of reading one out to the rest of my year group (an horrific experience that I will never forget). Thankfully I have a wide variety of strange and wonderful people in my life, otherwise I'd be stuck on what to write about! I am currently talking to family and friends, finding out their innermost secrets in readiness for my next book.

My books are romances that come with a little more than vanilla sexy times, sometimes a few tears, lots of hot men and feisty women, but ultimately they'll make you smile.

Romantic comedy that’s laugh out loud funny. Phoebe is an extra. Her latest role has three lines which is major for a girl like her. The problem is the new leading man doesn’t take any crap and Phoebe is good at getting under his skin.

Grantley is a brooding male who doesn’t mingle with extras. Phoebe catches more than his attention and one way or any other she’s going to pay.

Available on kindle unlimited. Fun, cheeky and ticks all the right boxes.

I’ve read a few Nikki Ashton books, and I find myself falling ever deeper in love with her work with each new book I read. I’ve read a few of her romantic comedies before, but my last few reads have been her contemporary romance books. Now that we’re back to her romantic comedies, I can admit to having forgotten just how hilarious her stories are.

From the very first page Do You Do Extras? had me chuckling away. It was a case of late night laughter, with each new page bringing me something more to laugh about. Honestly, I cannot remember the last time I chuckled so hard at a book. There really were so many things throughout this one that left me giggling, so many things I want to mention, but it would be nothing more than the tip of the iceberg in explaining all the goodness in store once you dive into this story. Honestly, the humour in this one is spot on.

Fear not, it’s more than a book filled with chuckles. We get plenty of entertainment in various comical forms, but we also get plenty of enjoyment in other ways, too. There is a fabulous romance to watch bloom. There are wonderful characters to watch develop. There is plenty of drama to keep you entertained. There are so many things in this one that you’ll find the book near impossible to put down. If you do manage to put the book down, you’ll find your mind constantly drifting towards it – then, the moment you pick it up again, you will be lost to all that is happening.

I could sit and list many things about this book that I loved, there are many things I could forewarn you of, but I have no wish to lessen your enjoyment of any element of the story. Thus, I will give just one thing – the kids. I’ve mentioned in another review that Nikki Ashton does children really well, but with this one… Oh wow. The children in this one were one of my favourite aspects of the story, and you’re in for a real treat with them.

Honestly, I loved so much about this story. I was addicted from the first to the last page, and I cannot wait to read more of the An American in the UK series. I cannot help but hope we get some spin-off stories, too. There were many characters in this story I adored, and I want to find out more about how each story plays out in the future. The snippets of information at the end failed to satisfy me – I want entire books for so many of the characters.

Without a doubt, this is another winner from Nikki Ashton. If you want a romantic comedy that will leave you laughing out loud, holding your stomach and crossing your legs, then Do You Do Extras? is the read for you.

it started out pretty good. i was into it and I was having a great time, but after the 50% mark it just missed the mark for me ig. Some funny bits were forced and cringey. Others were a bit ridiculous and idk I got bored.

I think i lost interest when we had that sexual tension built up to end up not having any sex scenes. Seriously we got NOTHING. I was disappointed. It was skipped like I was reading a YA novel :(

The epilogue was sweet though, but yeah. I expected more.

4.5 my pretty girl stars.

Do You Do Extras is a page turner from start to finish.

I loved the dynamics of Grantley and Phoebe, the chemistry, the humor and the swoon worthy moments.
Do You Do Extras is a laugh out loud Rom Com with loveable characters.

My favourite moments were when the twin boys found Aunt Phoebe's vibrator and fought over it because they thought it was a sword and when Brantley was given the name Dick because they had heard Phoebe call him that, so many moments that even now thinking back over the journey of Phoebe and Brantleys first run in and instant love hate relationship I can't help but chuckle.

Phoebe is a young British woman doing extras in films and tv to help support her sister who is a single mum with her two boys and Brantley is the famous American film star she managed to rub up the wrong way causing sparks between them which eventually burn into more.

I loved it, loved the British humour, the backstorys of both character's and how the plot flowed to the heartwarming hea that gave me all those fuzzy feelings.
Another entertaining read by Nikki Ashton.

No cheating. Told in first person dual pov. A light and entertaining read with a few minor detailed hot moments. Leads to hea.

Grantley James is Hollywood’s newest action hero. He’s got the looks, the body and can barely crack a smile, mainly because he has the mother from hell.

Phoebe Drinkwater is an Extra on Grantley’s new film. She’s happy and fun loving but will never be as beautiful as her parents’ imaginary youngest daughter, Melania.

Whoever could imagine they’d ever be friends, never mind more – certainly not Grantley James, but he just can’t get the girl who’s a pain in his perfect bum, off his mind.

Add a foul mouthed agent, an embarrassing incident with a glow in the dark vibrator and an estranged father and you’ve got Do You Do Extras?

This is the new romantic comedy from Nikki Ashton author of the acclaimed No Bra Required and Roman’s Having Sex Again.

At the centre of this beautiful romance are moments that will make you laugh out loud, and those which will pull at your emotions, but all in all you’ll get a stonking good read.

I absolutely loved this fantastic comedy filled romance. I cried laughing and cried a few sad tears too. This is the kind of romance that doesn't need the sex rammed down your throat, the fade to black and suggestion of it was more than enough to show you just what was happening. A lot of surprises occur in this book and some are more than shocking.

The book revolved around Grantley and Phoebe a Hollywood actor and an extra but it was so much more than that. They had a lot of issues to go through both personally and professionally but they were supported by a fantastic array of characters in Barney, Marcia and Beth and her boys Mack and Callum. They made this books so much more than just a basic romance for me.

This book taught me a few lessons too. Never say anything in front of children no matter how mad you are and always put things away or you could end up with a "Dick" and a "Play Sword" that will make you blush. I laughed hard at the banter, the back and forth one liners between all the characters, especially the no holds barred word vomit way Phoebe sometimes communicated.  But I loved the no filter ways that made Marcia who she was.

This books for me was a complete all rounder and was a complete joy to read. I highly recommend this great feel good book. Definitely one of my favourites of the year so far.

I was very kindly provided with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have given it 5 stars.

Well it's been a while since I picked up one of Nikki Ashton's books and now I am left wondering why that is? I had forgotten how incredibly funny she is! Do You Do Extras had me laughing along with the antics of Phoebe and Hollywood favourite Grantley from the very first page.

Do You Do Extras was absolutely hilarious, filled with lots of laugh out loud moments from characters that really complimented each other. This is definitely one of my favourite reads this year.

I loved this fun and sexy read from a very talented author and I will definitely be reading more from her!!!

A very fun sexy romantic read that will leave you wanting more. I really loved Grantley and Phoebe and the banter between them. I think this book really had it all and I was actually sad to see the story end 'cuz I had so much fun reading it and I also liked how we got a bit of an inside how being an extra on set worked. I really hope we get Beth's story next :-)

Grantley is an up and coming movie star who's in Manchester to shoot his new movie and while he is a grumpy person, he has a heart of gold that he doesn't let a lot of people see. When he bumps into Phoebe on set, they don't really get along and they got off on the wrong foot. But Phoebe doesn't want to lose her job of being an extra on set and tries to stay out of his way. But Grantley seems to be taken with her in a way he didn't see coming and the more time they spend together, they see more of each other's side that also seems to be a breathe of fresh air for both of them. Will they find a way to break some of their walls down? And will Grantley see that there's more than fame?...

It has been a while since I have read a book that made me cry with laughter so I am so glad that I read this book! I think it’s probably one of the funniest books that I have read. I was completely hooked from the very beginning and I definitely could not put it down. I haven’t read anything by this author before but I absolutely will be hunting down more of her writing. Her writing style was so engaging – I loved every second of every word in this book.
I instantly loved Phoebe; she was just one of those characters you can’t help but love. She had this naivety to her and she couldn’t always help what came out of her mouth at times! She certainly made me laugh. There are some really, really funny parts to this book - parts that I think were even funnier because I wasn’t expecting them. Grantley was just HOT!!!!!! Totally swoon-worthy!
I honestly cannot recommend this book enough – if you are looking for a rom com for a summer read then you should absolutely one click this book today!!

Laughing my butt off!!!! Do You Do Extra's? by Nikki Ashton had me in tears I was laughing so hard at some parts, I even woke the hubby up a time or two. In this romantic comedy you not only get a romance with a few laughs, you get the total package with amazing characters, drama and even few tears that were not only from laughing.

Sexy actor Grantley meets an extra in his movie, Pheobe who from the very first moment they met she was a pain in his behind. Pheobe never thought herself the pretty one and she is clumsy and not the greatest with words but somehow she is on Grantley's mind...A LOT!! The banter between these two is hilarious and there are many moments where you say "oh this is not good" in a "I know this is gonna come back to bite you in the behind funny." With supporting characters like Barney, Marcia and Beth, this book is a definite hit.

So, if your a reader that likes romantic comedies, with a great story line and an easy fast paced read, then this book is for you. Well done Nikki!!!

Grantley is a Hollywood movie star who is in England filming his latest movie. Phoebe is an extra on the set who has good intentions but is a little clumsy. Grantley is less than impressed when she crashes into him, so she decides her best course of action is to stay out of the way as she needs this job to help out her sister and her twin nephews.

Grantley is not sure why he can’t stop thinking about her and what starts out as friends evolves into more. They are opposites as she is outgoing and sassy while he presents a gruff exterior but is there a happy ever after for two people who live on different continents?

Humorous banter, heartwarming emotion, romance and a little drama is all wrapped up in one package. The secondary characters are great, and the twin boys are scene stealers who will have you laughing out loud. This is my first book by this author, but I will definitely be checking out her other books. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

This is so much more than a rom-com, and although I absolutely loved the whole thing, the last 50% really had me turning the pages super quickly. In fact, I’ve spent all day long lost in the world of Grantley (purr) and Phoebe.

There are some hilarious scenes in this—The flashing sword scene, anyone? Hahaha—but there are some highly emotive, powerful scenes too. I can’t give too much away, but there’s a reunion that takes place that had my heart in a vice the whole way through. The pace of the story, the twists, the emotion, the lighthearted moments, the sex and steam, and that butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling we all crave to read were all there in abundance throughout the telling of this story.

Written in both Brit English and American English meant this dual POV story was told in the best way possible.

I’m ashamed to say this is my first Nikki Ashton story, but I can assure you it will not be my last. Hilarious and moving, this novel had everything I need to enjoy a journey, and I only wished I’d managed to get to it a hell of a lot sooner. More, please.

Five stars.

This book tells the story of Grantley and Phoebe's meeting and developing relationship. There was a great amount of laugh out loud moments and that made the book supremely interesting for me. I loved that Phoebe's character was such a sweetheart, but I also liked that she had her flaws. I loved the relationship between her, her sister, and her adorable nephews.

I have mixed emotions about Grantley's character. My initial opinion of him versus how he was after a few chapters were complete opposites and that didn't sit well with me. It seemed like his character was made a jerk just for token purposes as opposed to it just being his character. Outside of that, I liked his protectiveness and how he handled himself with the other characters,

Everything with Grantley and his parents . . . absolute chaos. That really blew my mind.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and would definitely read more from this author.

Do You Do Extras? is a bit of a slow burn romance. In fact, it takes Grantley and Phoebe a while to warm up to each other as they butt heads both on and off the movie set. I love that this pair finds friendship before moving into romance. Even as friends, they have good chemistry, the banter between them is witty and often downright hilarious. They do see their fair share of angst, but it's tempered with the sweet, a bit of sexy, and a lot of funny. Oh, and a set of adorable five-year old twins! Those little guys add a layer to the story that had me laughing out loud and oohing and aahing every time they made an appearance. In fact, this one is loaded with great characters. Love them or hate them, and we get some of each, they're all interesting and it all just works. All in all, this one is a great mix of romance, family drama, and fun.

Best AB workout I've had all year
This is one romantic comedy you won't want to miss

Phoebe is a blast! Witty, not afraid to speak her mind and has an uninhibited zest for life.
Grantley is a no-nonsense (egotistical) actor on his way to the top. He doesn't have time for socialization. He definitely doesn't have the patience or time for bumbling extras- until said bumbling extra calls him out.
Let the sparks fly!
The supporting cast flawlessly weaves their humor and sarcasm into the storyline adding just the right amount of magic to bring all the laughter, romance and a small touch of angst together crafting a must read rom-com.
This is a sweet and slow build romantic comedy that kept me in stitches from the first collision to the last
I adore the twins!

I enjoyed reading this one. There were some great moments in this one. Moments where I died laughing other moments were it pulled at the heart strings. A well written book with a great story line and great characters. Phoebe is an extra on a movie set she accidentally runs into the star and little does she know that run in will change her life. I love her character. Strong and there for everyone in her life. Great chemistry between her and Grantley. You can easily see that these two are going to be good together. Love reading how these two finally realize what is in front of them. Absolutely love the dance screen with Grantley and the boys. Great overall story line. Well written and enjoyable. Highly recommend.

This book will have you giggling at times. The chemistry between Grantley and Phoebe is off the charts. He is a Hollywood Actor and she is an Extra. There is so much more to this story then just and actor and an extra fall in love. They both have some personal and professional issues that have to be dealt with.
This is a great comedy book but you may shed a tear or two of sadness for some of the shit that goes down. There was one moment that I was laughing and thought oh that would be so embarrassing. This book is a feel good story though at times you might want to punch one or three of the characters in the story. There was a couple I hated with a passion and would have loved to see them beat up or killed off either one!

When you read an author from their first book onwards you see them improve and grow, the earlier work is a great read and enjoyable but as their confidence in themselves improves the stories get better and better. That is exactly what has happened with Nikki Ashton - a fabulous book great characters and the humour we all know and love Nikki for.

OMG!!! This book!!! This is not just any old RomCom, this is absolutely swoonworthy romance, with some hilariously funny moments thrown in for good measure. It had me hooked (and literally crying with laughter) from the first page - who am I kidding, it was the very opening line!!
Phoebe is a film and tv extra who seems to have a knack for finding herself in awkward and embarassingly funny situations. Hot and brooding Grantley James is a Hollywood action hero with a hidden past and a nightmare mother. They quite literally bump into each other on the set of his new blockbuster movie and sparks fly. What follows next is a story that will have you totally falling in love with Grantley and laughing your arse off at the same time (tissues and TENA ladies come to mind!!). Also I feel I need to give a shout out to Phoebes sister Beth and her twin boys, they were absolute stars in this book.
This book is absolutely fantastic and will stay with me for a long time. Pink glitter sword -just saying - you'll know what I mean when you read it. Five awesome stars (it deserves way more) - you seriously need this on your TBR right now!!!

Hilarious, romantic comedy set in jolly old England

Grantley James is a gorgeous, 30-something, American movie star whose wildly popular action-flick series is filming its fourth installment in Manchester, England.

Phoebe Drinkwater is a twenty-six-year-old, English actress who has made a successful career working as an extra on movies filmed in the Manchester area. She lives with her divorced, older sister, Beth, and her six-year-old, twin nephews, Callum and Mack. “Auntie Peepee” helps her sister with childcare, and the two siblings share expenses. In the process, their already strong love for each other has grown into an extremely tight, family bond.

When Phoebe gets a job on Grantley’s film, her initial encounter with the spoiled, cranky star is anything but friendly. She accidentally bangs into him while talking on her cell phone, and Grantley’s first words to her are, “Could you watch where you’re going instead of looking at your damn cell?” From that unpromising start rolls out a barrage of clever zingers and counter-zingers between them, which creates the most hilarious Meet Cute I’ve read in years. And every subsequent comic scene with these two feisty protagonists is equally full of fire and fun.

Phoebe is a strong, compassionate and loyal heroine, and Grantley is a terrific version of the classic, sexy, alpha-male hero, so treasured by romance fans. Phoebe’s precocious, little nephews contribute greatly to the general, comic mayhem. And Grantley’s African-American bodyguard, driver, and best friend, Barney, and his foul-mouthed agent, Marcia Silva, with her “thirty smokes a day growl,” add tremendously to the joyful absurdity as well.

I absolutely adored the first half of the book, with its endless witty banter between Phoebe and Grantley during their enemy phase. I was constantly laughing out loud. Midway through the book, after the two protagonists have become friends, the emphasis of the story switches over to Grantley’s family melodrama. The story becomes a bit soap opera-ish at that point, which is not generally a flip in tone from light to dark in a romantic comedy that I’m a big fan of. However, Phoebe and Grantley are such sympathetic protagonists, they make even a slide into non-comic melodrama enjoyable.

The romance in this book is “slow burn,” with the first kiss not occurring until 40% of the book, and the first sex scene not until 67% of the book. I have no problem with slow burn. I actually like it. However, what did bother me a bit is that we are told they have sex, but we are shown nothing beyond a few initial kisses and a few references to outward physical signs of sexual excitement. I experienced this blanking out of sex scenes as a jarringly puritanical inconsistency because otherwise, throughout this book, Phoebe’s thoughts and conversations about sex are very blunt and free-spirited.

Avoiding even mildly graphic descriptions of sex is a standard way to handle sex in young adult (YA) romance novels if they are so-called, "sex positive" books. (Which basically means the teen heroine is presented by the author as being sexually active minus gratuitous, morality-play-style “slut-shaming” by other characters in a banal attempt to, presumably, make it clear to impressionable teen readers that premarital sex is a Very Bad Thing.) In contrast, the usual approach to sex in adult romance novels is either for the author to offer explicit sex scenes, or to include no premarital sex at all, and even if the characters are married before the end of the book, to keep the bedroom door firmly closed. Debbie Macomber’s romance novels and Hallmark movies are classic examples of this G-rated approach.

I admit freely that, as a jaded romance reader, I can easily become bored of clinically graphic descriptions in romance-novel sex scenes. But I definitely enjoy a romantic and passionate sex scene when it is very well done, and I thought these attractive, lovable protagonists deserved an openly passionate portrayal of their lovemaking. To me, putting it all offstage represents a missed opportunity.

In addition, this book is an odd amalgam of a G-rated avoidance of sex and a PG-13 use of a massive amount of cussing. Frankly, I have almost never read a romance novel with as much foul language, including frequent F-bombs, as this book contains. When authors go the G-rated route, they almost invariably eliminate foul language as well, because the vast majority of romance readers who don't like graphic sex also don't like swearing. So the question here might be: “Who is the intended audience for this book?”

I am not grading this book down for either its YA approach to sex or its profuse profanity, however, because few romance authors I read these days write sex scenes well, anyway, and in my opinion, the scenes that are the most chock-full of obscenity are actually among the most riotously funny in the book.

I rate this book as follows:

Heroine: 5 stars
Hero: 4 stars
Subcharacters: 5 stars
Romantic Comedy Plot: 5 stars
Family Melodrama Plot: 3 stars
Setting: 5 stars
Writing: 5 stars
Overall: 4.5 rounded to 5 stars

This was my first read by Nikki Ashton but having met her at previous signings and fallen in love with her covers, I was so excited to be given the opportunity to review her latest release!

Grantley and Phoebe undoubtedly had chemistry from the very beginning, and seeing that develop, right alongside hilarity round every corner, it just made for an incredible “easy” read with a dual perspective.

Alll the characters involved were so funny and none more so, than Phoebe’s sister. Spilling all her sisters antics with her new acting partner....and maybe more ;) let me say no more than “Peepee” to you all!

A HEA feel good of a book, with read side-splitting laughter along the way. My first book by Nikki, but certainly not my last!

In my humble opinion, Nikki Ashton is one of the best rom-com authors EVER! And she has certainly outdone herself with Grantley and Phoebe’s story.

Warning: sore sides, snorting, laughs of the LOL variety with accompanying tears are a serious side effect of reading this story. Yet, as loyal readers of Nikki’s can attest, there is always an emotional punch or two for good measure.

Seriously, I was belly-laughing from the beginning. Bottom burps will do that to a gal! *snorts*

There is a fairytale-esque quality to this book. I mean, who didn’t secretly harbour dreams of meeting a movie star and being swept of their feet? Pfft *waves hand*, I wasn’t asking you! *whistles*

Only Grantley and Phoebe’s first meeting doesn’t exactly herald the start of an epic romance *smirks*

Appearances can be deceiving, and there is most definitely more to our leading man, Mr James, than his action-hero persona. Not many people know the real Grantley (undoubtably single figures), and that’s just the way he likes it. Inside is someone that just wants to be loved, but it’s trusting someone enough to try. Could the infuriating, but no less captivating, Miss Drinkwater, be the one to settle his soul?

Phoebe loves her job as an extra. Acting is all she’s ever wanted to do. Unlike many of her fellow counterparts, she’s happy with her lot. She’s content to live with her sister and twin nephews going from job to job. Her world, however, is about to be turned upside down thanks to the one and only American movie star, Grantley James *snorts*

With a host of colourful secondary characters including Grantley’s foul-mouthed agent, Marcia, and Phoebe’s scene-stealing twin nephews, Do You Do Extras? is a treat from start to finish. I can honestly say I didn’t want it to end.

For me, there were two stand out scenes which still cause spontaneous bouts of laughter when I think of them.

“I think it’s a handle for close combat.”

One - I have two words for you: en garde! *sniggers*

*wipes tears*

Sorry, sorry! *waves hand* All will become clear once you’ve read it.

Second - AGT *cue belly-laughing*

No, no - I can’t say anymore. My lips are sealed.

Oh jeez, I’ve been rambling a bit, haven’t I? Okay, shutting up.

Oi! No need to be sarcy...

P.S. I wanna be Marcia when I grow up #lifegoals Hmm, some may say I’m already heading in that direction... you’ve been warned.

Everyone & I mean EVERYONE needs this book on their e~reader or their book shelf. I can’t say too much about this crazy love story, without physically spewing spoilers, so instead I’m going to try and just tell you why I fell so hopelessly in love with Grantley & Phoebe by 5% & why, hands down Nikki Ashton is easily in my Top 3 all time fav British Authors.

The writing from start to finish was so effortless. The prose was on point, fluid & made the whole crazy journey relatable, unbelievably funny & heartachingly sad in all the right places. Nikki delivers humour so damn well. You know you are lost to a book when you realise you have genuinely belly laughed well into the early hours of the morning, even needing to force your face into a pillow in a vain attempt to suffocate the squeals & snickering that you can’t even control. Yup this was me at 2am lol. But I’ll be damned if it stopped with peels of laughter, because no sooner as the giggles subsided I found myself wiping snot & drool on the corner of the quilt as my eyes leaked & my heart broke.. I was a wreck that couldn’t get enough.

Today.. I haven’t stopped grinning & laughing to myself today. I feel like this book came into my life, just when I needed something to laugh at without restraint. To be happy. To smile. To simply enjoy getting lost in a beautifully imperfect world belonging to someone else.

I have to give huge plaudits for the American / English banter which was so bloody hilarious, for the main characters who will eternally own a piece of my heart. And OMG why aren’t these my friends in real life! Not even kidding btw, and for the secondary characters, especially two little terrors who owned my soul, they all add even more colour &. more vibrancy if it was possible to an already magnificent story.

To finish, my life would be complete if some movie genie read this book & knew it needed to be on the big screen. Notting Hill, Four Weddings & A Funeral, Love Actually ~ This my friends in my humble opinion is just as special & would give all of these a damn good run for their box office money.

5 extra special stars! Absolutely loved this hilarious, sexy book!

"My problem was, Grantley had the power to ruin me. He had the power to melt the ice around my heart and leave me broken beyond repair."

Phoebe Drinkwater makes a living as an extra. She doesn't earn the big bucks but she's happy. She loves her sister and nephews and enjoys living with them. She's not really looking for commitment - just focused on earning money to help her divorcee sister out. She's thrilled to get a role in the next big action film and even has three lines of dialogue. What she's not so thrilled about is bumping into the lead actor by accident and putting up with his rudeness. So she gives back as good as she gets.

"I inhaled deeply and felt my heart miss a couple of beats. It had f*cking snuck up on me, so damn stealthily even I'd been surprised."

Grantley James is a Hollywood action hero but is known for being taciturn and broody. When he gets off on the wrong foot with an extra on set, he's flabbergasted by her mouthiness. So why can't he get her out of his head?

This was such a fabulous, funny story! I loved everything about it. Phoebe was a brilliant heroine - sassy, capable, down-to-earth, thoughtful, and protective. Grantley had a heart of gold under his boorishness. He was serious but had a fun-loving streak. I loved the dialogue and banter between them. I loved their chemistry. I adored that Grantley didn't give a fig what other people thought and how he very nicely pushed his presence and help onto Phoebe and her family. I loved Phoebe's relationship with her sister and nephews - their closeness and dynamic.

I've only read one previous novel by this author and I intend to read a whole lot more!
