From International Bestseller Michelle Heard, comes a new, sexy novel in the Enemies To Lover series.
MARCUS
I’m good at deceiving people. Too good. I let people think I’m a bastard. Then Willow walks into my life, and no matter how hard I try to scare her off, she keeps coming back. But, everyone has their limit, and I’m afraid Willow has reached hers. Why is it when you think you don't want someone they become the most important person in your life… but am I too late to show her how much I love her?
WILLOW
I tried so hard to fight for us. But some things can’t be saved. They say if you really love someone you have to set them free. If the person comes back, they’re meant to be yours. The only problem with that theory is even though he came back, he always left again. How much heartache can one heart take? How much rejection can one person take? The man I love more than life itself has broken me. That’s why I have to leave.
This is book #4 in the Enemies To Lovers Series. Each book in the series is about a different couple. To get the full experience of their friendship, I'd recommend that you start with Heartless.
RUTHLESS: is the fourth novel within the ‘Enemies to Lovers’ series by Michelle Horst.
In the PROLOGUE: We see a father become unhinged through the struggles of losing his job do the unthinkable that makes ten year old Marcus the soul survivor, because fortunately the bullet missed Marcus’s heart by mere centimetres, any closer and he would be six feet under with the rest of his family.
Jason and Marcus have been best friends back to when they both were in diapers and they have been best friends ever since.
During one of their famous parties Marcus didn’t expect to feel an instant attraction towards Willow Evie's friend. Saving her twice from other guys advances has him reeling and confused because like the rest of the screw crew he’s also is sworn off relationships. But for Marcus it runs deeper, he’s afraid he’s got the same dark demon running in his veins like his father, he doesn’t allow attachments, he doesn’t allow girls to get close to him. Everyone thinks he’s a ruthless bastard but that’s just all a front.
The day I started the #screwcrew list, we were all drunk and picking around. Now I look at the list, and I see the names of woman I can’t hurt. Woman I won’t fall in love with, get married to and have children with. Women I won’t kill.
Being labeled the son of a killer keeps everyone at a safe distance, a heartbreaker, handsome, attractive and a bad boy are all personas he hides behind.
Until Willow
She’s the type of girl men got to war for, the kind of girl you would fall in love with, marry, have children to, the forever kind of girl.
She gets under his skin like no other, the push and pull tango they play pulls at your heartstrings like no other characters before them.
This author has such an uncanny knack with pulling us readers into the palm of her hands as we soak up her written words, I loved the banter between these two characters, the too and fro these two went through broke my heart even though their love shone through in the background it just wasn't their time, their timing was always off, until the universe lined up and they got their second chance to prove to the other that true love conquers all. Can not wait to read the next book within this series.
I freaking knew this book was going to make me cry!!! Thank you Michelle :-) Marcus's story, Oh my word, I absolutely loved every freaking minute of this book.
Marcus and Willow met when they were young and Willow was determined to be Marcus's friend, whether he wanted to be her friend or not. And that friendship just grew. But nothing else happened between them. Marcus didn't want to let anyone in, he was scared of being anything 'more' to someone. So when he learned about his illness it just became worse, he pushed Willow away so many times that I seriously think she is the strongest person ever, because she wouldn't walk away from him. But how much more can she take, will her feelings for him be enough to make her hold on or will she eventually walk away after too many rejections.
Crying, emotional, misunderstandings, and so much fear of rejection and heartache and man still I wanted more. This series is just freaking amazing, I can't wait for Rhett's book!!!
I love Michelle Horst's novels as they always give you the feels, are filled to the brim with pulsing sexual chemistry and a storyline that just won't quit. We have been waiting patiently for Marcus Reed and Willow Brook's story and boy was it worth the wait!
From the getgo I knew that Marcus' story would be a tough one from the pieces we have seen from earlier books. I had a feeling he would gut me and honestly he did that and more. The back and forth push and pull between him and Willow was painful to watch. You felt every emotion off the page and the deep emotions between them were so raw and intense. But their connection was unbelievable. Their chemistry and love came right off the pages. I was captivated by this story and can't get enough of this author's words. Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
Another great addition to the series. I was looking forward to Marcus's story, my heart broke for him in previous books when he goes through his illnesses.
These men are so close-knit and Marcus has already been a big part of each one of their story's in previous books especially Jaxson who is his best friend.
This is book four and finally, we get to hear Marcus's thoughts and follow his journey to love.
Marcus frustrated me and I sympathized with Willow repeatedly over the years.
Willow and Marcus meet in their teens become friends and through a tragedy in Marcus's past he always keeps her in the friend zone and never fully giving Willow his heart and showing his true feelings. Marcus lives in fear that those he loves will be ripped away from him.
Ruthless begins in the teen years then goes onto the years following college, then later to Marcus discovering his illness. Three times Willow is rejected and she still comes back for more heartache and clings to hope.
You definitely need to read previous books in this series, I felt the story jumped a few times and if you didn't know what was between the lines or what had happened through previous books before especially with Marcus's illness and how he met certain characters in this series you could get lost.
I would have liked more of a hea especially with all the uncertainty leading up to Willow and Marcus finally getting together.
I am looking forward to Rhett and Evie's story and I hope there is more depth and less frustration with the characters in Shameless.
Oh boy!!! I was so looking forward to reading this book because MARCUS BABY I WOULD HAVE NOT KNOWN WHAT TO DO IF YOU JUST DIED LIKE OMG. but this story was about Marcus and willow and their tragic relationship. I expected angst. I expected emotion. But I didn't get it and I got very little build up to their relationship. I was disappointed. But to be fair, Marcus and willows relationship bled through from book 2-4 so you can already see it a bit more clearly. I just wish Michelle gave me more of what willow fighting for marcus to play up angst.
As always, another great addition to the “Enemies to Lovers” series by Michelle Horst-Heard. This is Marcus’s story and I have been waiting eagerly for his story. I have to say, fabulous doesn’t began to sum up this book. This is Marcus’s journey to finding his future, to finding his love and to finding his happiness. We got to see him in previous books and let me say, this book really shows the reader who Marcus really is, his hopes and dreams, his wants and needs. The beginning of this book sets the stage for how the rest of the book sets up and plays out. Marcus and Willow have a bittersweet romance that has its highs and lows. There are twists and turns in their path to romance that kept me hooked from start to end. Their chemistry is electric--- I loved Willow and her sassy attitude. She completed Marcus in ways that were made clear in this read. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Heard because she writes stories that have such an emotional range to them along with the passionate heat for a perfect story.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Enemies to Lovers is pretty much my favourite trope, however, I should have read the three book that came before this one to have a clue as to what the and who the hell all the people were in the second part of this book! I just read the blurb and dove in... SMH.
So ya... the deal here is you get exactly what the blurb offers. Friends to Lovers. But in this case it was more like strangers to friends. Then friends to lovers. And this story takes place over a long ass period of time. But the payout was sweet.
After all the Hero made the heroine go through, I was so happy when she finally decided to leave!! YES! but I am not happy with how when 6 years have elapsed, she finds herself where she is. Even after college. I don't want spoil anything but there was too much evasiveness about her education. The hero saves her from the streets so she can get an education, but we never know what the hell she was studying. It seemed to make the whole point of the book mute. It was completely overlooked and I wasn't impressed with that. We never hear of her having any interests of passion about anything!! Plus there were so many secondary characters that I was not familiar with that it alienated me and made me sort of lose interest in those parts of the story. This was my fault of course, but nonetheless...
I have fell in love with the Screw Crew from the beginning and through out the books where Marcus was sick broke my heart each and every time I read them. I'm so glad all worked out for him and Willow got her "pretty boy". Their was just as beautiful as the others and I so enjoyed it. Michelle has done it again with another hit..
I would give more than 5* if I could. I can't get enough of this series. I love the way the story is written. That I really could feel the emotions of Marcus and Willow and the added characters. I didn't know how certain areas of the interlaced series would carry over but surprisingly it flowed. I do recommend reading the prior stories to get the best read of this story.
So good to finally read Marcus and Willow’s story and their journey to love! It was a quick read and I felt like it was all over the place and a bit rushed but I enjoyed it just like I’ve always enjoyed the Screw Crew.
Ruthless by Michelle Heard is the fourth book in the Enemies to Lovers Series. While Ruthless can be read as a standalone, for better understanding I recommend to read the books in order. The previous books are: Heartless, Carter and Della´s story; Reckless, Logan and Mia´s story; and Careless, Jaxson and Leigh´s story. Ruthless picks up where Careless was left off. Marcus Reed, one of the infamous sc..w crew is very ggod at deceiving people. He scares off everyone ´til Willow walks into his life. ´til this point his only confident was Jaxson and only because they grew up together and Jaxson knows about his rough and traumatic past. Willow Brooks tried to fight for them, but now she´s at her end too. Marcus is deadly ill and pushes her away again and again. Marcus and Willow have this crazy chemistry, you can feel their emotions in the words. And I was greatly entertained reading how Willow weasels her way into Marcus´ cold stony heart. The writing is excellent and I love the story and the characters. I can´t wait to get my hands on book 5; Shameless, Rhett and Evie´s story. Ruthless gets 4,5 stars.
This is book four and Willow and Marcus are thrust into centre stage....the strength of this series lies in the bonds of friendship between the Screw Crew and their significant others...whilst each book is standalone, in truth, to appreciate the character and story development all the books need to be read in order..
The prologue to this story is shocking and the emotional fall out resonates throughout the book.... the two protagonists have plenty of ups and downs; at times I wanted to knock their heads together...it is so obvious they are right for each other but misunderstandings and a degree of stubbornness keeps pulling them apart...
This is a short read and at times I felt it was a bit rushed; but the story of Willow and Marcus is a bittersweet romance that has plenty of humour and some hot and steamy ‘bow-chika-wow-wow’ making it a compelling and captivating read...I received an advanced copy of this novella from the author
Ruthless (Enemies to Lovers, Book 4) by Michelle Horst (Heard)
☆☆☆5 stars☆☆☆
This is a bittersweet struggle of love, stubbornness, and truth between Marcus and Willow. They're the perfect match, if only they'd see it and embrace it.
Marcus is fighting his feelings for Willow, due to his past and current dilemma. He thinks he's doing right by pushing her away, yet all he's doing is causing agony and a broken heart, for the both of them.
Willow has been by Marcus's side, as a friend, and wants more. Has always wanted more, but she feels he doesn't want the same.
With the help and a little nudge from their friends, can they see what everyone else sees? That they belong together! Beautiful and swoony, this series grips you and doesn't let go! I continue to fall deeper in love with every single character.
First, I wasn't sure how Michelle will put Marcus and Willow story after the pieces shown through previous books. I was worried a bit. But I shouldn't have. Everything just clicked. Second, I'm out of words to describe Marcus and Willow journey. It's full of assumption, misunderstanding, lots of fear... They made me cry, pissed me off... Well, they made me emotional and it was a bit of a mess. But from that mess came something so beautiful, that my cracked heart become whole again.
This is the fourth book in the series. Marcus and Willow did not have an easy relationship but their love was strong enough to pull them through. I loved reading about previous and future couples. This book and this series is a must read.
This is the 4th book in this awesome series. We get to see more of Marcus and I love it. He is such a strong man with a big heart after all he's been through. Willow is patient and loving. Such a great enemies to lovers book. I laughed, I cried. I could not stop reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I could cry. I loved Marcus story so far from the previous books because his was the most authentic and touching one. But maybe this was exactly the reason why I had such high expectations of this book and why it turned out to be slightly disappointing. Not because it was bad though but because everything built up to this point and his book was just not what I hoped it would be.
The book was as well written as the previous ones and the story showed parts of why Marcus became the person he is now. It gave insight in his thoughts and which part Willow played in his life. The thing is, we got to know so much about Marcus already and lived with him through such a tough part in his life in Careless that his book now seemed like a simplified version of his life. You definitely have to have read the previous books because the most important turn in his life was not explained in this book but just left out completely. So if you don't at least read Book #3 before this one you will be confused as to what happened at the turning point. Actually, Marcus story begins already in Book #2.
I liked his story but there wasn't much that I didn't already know which made the story almost seem like a short recap of his life.
I didn't like the constant back and forth with him and Willow but that was to be expected because their ping pong relationship was known from the previous books. What bothered me most about it though was how Willow did not seem that affected by everything. She wasn't as upset or confused or heartbroken as I'd hoped or thought she would be. This all played into how I felt this book was not as special and not as emotionally gripping as I'd expected. Which does not mean that it was a bad read. Not at all. I still enjoyed it.
Again, we got some information about Rhett and I just hope that his book will have a lot more to tell.

Ruthless is an amazing addition to this series and I absolutely devour each book.
This is Marcus and Willow’s story. We meet them originally when they are still in their teens.
Marcus is a heartbreaking character after dealing with so much loss on his life his walls are pretty much impenetrable, even though he thinks of the screw crew as his family the only person he really lets get close to him is Jaxon, that is until he meets Willow. From the second their eyes meet she’s under his skin so he does what he needs to and rejects her time and time again. He fears letting her in and having her ripped away so puts her firmly in the friend zone. Finally realising he needs her to be his he decides to make a move only to make an assumption that could cost him his future happiness.
Willow has never wanted to be Marcus’s friend there was something that drew her to him from that very first meeting but his walls are so high that she will take what she can get. He pushes her away thinking he’s protecting her until she can’t handle the heartbreak anymore she cuts all ties with him. But can she really walk away when she learns of Marcus’s illness or is she just destined for more heartbreak if she lets him back in her life clinging to the hope that one day he will return her love?
It’s a bitter sweet story of two characters that once they love it’s with their whole heart and soul. These two are a perfect match for each other. I love how you see the previous books characters are always part of the story and they are a real family. Cannot wait for the final book. Highly recommend you read all the previous books before reading this one.
Another amazing book in this series! Marcus and Willow's story is full of emotion. Marcus has had so much pain and tragedy in his life, he is afraid to let anyone in because he doesn't want to lose them. He knows he doesn't deserve Willow, but he is drawn to her like a magnet. Willow also feels the pull towards Marcus, but doesn't understand why he pushes her away. Can he convince her of his true feelings before it's too late?

“People think I’m a ruthless bastard, but it’s all an act.”
Ruthless by Michelle Horst (Heard) is by far my favorite Screw Crew novel. Not only is it powerful, but it’s written differently than the others. It’s more based on friendship than lust, trusting and letting people into your heart than intimacy. I have always wanted to know more about Marcus and I am thrilled that his story has finally arrived!
“Loving Willow is both the easiest thing I’ve ever done. It’s easy being myself with her, but the hard part is knowing it will end one day.”
Michelle you made me cry just within the prologue! Marcus’s story is one full of emotion, heartbreak, heart-mending and love! His & Willow’s story will capture you from the moment they meet back in college and grip you through the trials and tribulations they encounter. If you have been a Screw Crew reader and fanatic from the beginning, then you have met Willow already. You already know of Marcus’s tribulations, but their story takes you back from the very beginning. You see the build-up from friendship to mistakes/breakups and the circle that goes round and round. The question you keep asking; can Willow’s heart keep coming back for more heartbreak?
“I’ll always be in trouble when it comes to Marcus because there is no way that I’ll ever be able to resist him. I’ll keep coming back because he is the only man I want.”
Michelle writes with passion and emotion. Her words are written with feelings that fly off the pages and embed within your soul. These books are ones to be devoured. The Screw Crew series will hold a special place in my heart, on my shelf, especially Marcus’s!
“It’s funny how loving someone can hurt so much. I think it’s the hope you have that things might change someday. You hope they’ll love you and every day it doesn’t happen it becomes a suffocating pain that eats away at your heart.”
There are so many words running through my head to describe this book and the ones before, but the point is… READ THIS BOOK! It’s a MUST READ! A Gazillion Stars!

Oh, what’s that on the floor you ask? Just my darn heart laying amongst the scattered Kleenex. It’s ok I’m sure I won’t need it ever again. Now excuse me while I clean up this mess.
Marcus has lost his whole family to an act of senseless violence. He tries to move on with his life while living with his best friend Jaxon. Marcus has a list of girls him and the guys have screwed. One night at a party while he is trying to find a girl to add to the list he meets Willow. These two embark on a life long mess of a friendship that turns to love.
Willow knows Marcus is bad news yet she sees something in him. She sets out to be his friend and as this goes her feelings get involved. Even when her life was in disarray even when Marcus assumed the worst and pushed her away she still held a torch for him.
Ruthless takes us on a journey. This book gives us Marcus and Willows story from the first meeting to the final earth shattering kiss. Seriously their first kiss even I saw fireworks and possibly needed a drink after.
You get to see just how awesome a guy he is. The poetic words that finally leave his sexy mouth made me swoon. I loved Willow and her tenacity. She wasn’t a quitter when it came to Marcus yet she lived her life. Also we get to see the sexy Miss Sebastian. Ruthless has been to date my favorite story and I thought Jaxon owned my soul. It’s heart wrenching and sexy. This is a series everyone needs to read.

warning... this is one review for all five books! Can’t separate them!!!
5+ STARS OF AWESOMENESS
First of all, I loved everything about this whole series.
Marcus’ book is the 4th in the series... The journey of these 5 brothers/best friends is nothing short of heartless, reckless, careless, ruthless, shameless emotions but so full of ABSOLUTE LOVE. Every single book tells stories of how mistakes turns into lessons of how to find happiness and forevers. MH is an absolute beast with her writing. This is definitely one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE READS. It’s the only series that at the end, I couldn’t pick a favourite.. every single book was written with so much love that I cannot pick a favourite. The way each book was written gave light to how truly amazing each of the characters were without outshining the other.
Loved loved loved this book and the other 4. BUY THIS SERIES. It’s worthy enough for your reader soul!!!
Ps: I know there were some some things that others may not have enjoyed, but if you take the time to read it and enjoy it, you’ll see the progress of each characters and how Hell rained down on them before they all started shaping up. Cmon, we all tend to steer the right way when we see the consequences of our mistakes play in front of our eyes. Really, I think the guys redeemed themselves. Some relationships other than between the MC’s were some of my favourites. I didn’t read this as an arc. Literally just binge-read this to enjoy my time and so I guess I wasn’t feeling too critical. But in all honesty, I read this because of the whole family dynamic it has going on in this series. The way these guys built their family when things went south in each of their lives... that’s what I appreciate and love. I mean we’re all different. Some may not like these but I hope you give it a chance to read without judgement. It’s awesome!

Second Chances...in this case,.. maybe just a few...
Loving this series from Michelle Horst & seeing the Screw Crew squirm with their feelings while they fall hard for their women.
Book 4 These books are intertwined with each other, so best to read in order.
This is Marcus and Willows story. Since they met in college, Willow has been in love with Marcus & vice versa. But Marcus is petrified of his feelings for Willow. Since his Father shot him & killed his Mother and Sister he's scared to let people in cause he wouldn't cope when they finally leave him. Jaxson his best friend is the only one who knows him inside out. So he keeps Willow at arms length. And in the friend category. This seems to work until for awhile they go their separate ways after college, with the odd birthday/Christmas messages. Until a few years later they meet up again. Clear the air & start afresh. Until Marcus finds out he's sick & pushes Willow away.. again.. Such an emotional rollercoaster. Loving that Miss Sebastian is back. Totally loving her & her "bedazzling style", everyone should have a Miss Sebastian in their lives. Can Willow and Marcus make it, before it's too late?
So far all the books in this series i have loved but i felt that this was the most anticipated book out of all of them. Marcus’s book was the one that needed to read and it didn’t disappoint loved every part of it.
Not only did we find out about Marcus’s past but i did love how we went to the beginning of why Marcus was the way he was. We found out what happened in his past and how he became friends with Willow.
Marcus was such a complex character and for what he goes through even though he can be a prick you really love him anyway because you know there is a good guy underneath. The way he is so back and forth with Willow you can understand but you also want to shake him and get him to pull his head out of his butt.
Willow was such a good character she loved with her whole heart and really just cared for Marcus, but there is always a certain point you come too where you just have to say enough is enough and sometimes walk away. I loved how you always knew that Willow would always love Marcus but sometimes Love just isn’t enough.
Absolutely loved this story and so glad we got It, after the drama in the first books surrounding him it was finally awesome to read it.
Love this series and if you haven’t read it yet you need too and if your up to this book it’s a must read. You also can’t miss out on meeting miss Sebastian love this character.
A massive 5 Stars for this book and now i can’t wait for Rhett’s book another story that I’m anticipating.
I opened the prologue, and I just knew it would gut me. And it did. Poor Marcus. My heart broke for him. Marcus and Jaxson's relationship is what you dream of having with a best friend. Complete understanding, support, love and knowing what the other is thinking about or contemplating. Their friendship is so endearing. He always had the all the guys in his group but never really got close to them except Jaxson. Losing his family really did a number on him about losing people he loves, so for the longest time, he wouldn't let anyone get too close. Then Willow comes along. Gosh, I love these two so much! They are so perfect for each other, and when they finally got together, wow, the fireworks, the pent up sexual frustration. I couldn't believe it took them years! YEARS! This book in particular, I feel you need to read Careless to understand the timeline. Heck you need to read the whole series from the beginning! I love Marcus! He loves HARD when he does. My heart broke, then got puzzled back together. I am sad the series is coming to an end on the Screw Crew. I am looking so forward to Rhett's book. Loved it!!!!
Ruthless by Michelle Horst (Heard) is the fourth book in her Screw Crew series, but also the one I was most dreading. Willow and Marcus's story has torn at my heart strings since the first book in the series, although we are finally given the entire picture in this book.
Marcus’s story is one full of heart breaking sadness as well as over coming adversity. I wont go into detail, but if you don't know already do yourself a favor and read all the other books first! Willow is the only person, besides his best friend Jaxon that he is able to let see past the wall of pain he has built around his heart.
Willow sees Marcus for who he really is not just the cocked bastard everyone is used to. She tries desperately to get him to let her into his inner circle, but first trying to become his friend. However, eventually friendship just is not enough for her.
Michelle writes with passion and emotional story that jumps off the pages. I highly recommend this book and every other book in the series, but make sure you have tissues for this one. It is going to be a bumpy ride.
*** I received this ARC from the Author at no cost ***
Another amazing addition to one of my all time favorite series, Ruthless is Marcus and Willow’s story. I’ve been dying to read this since I first started this series. While every one of these books will hit you right in the feels Marcus’ story hits even harder. From the heartbreaking start to the soul deep absolute love between Marcus and Willow this book packs one heck of an emotional punch.
There’s so much to Marcus that we haven’t really gotten to see until now and let me tell you, he’s even more irresistible than I expected. He has so many layers to him hiding the genuinely kind man with a huge heart. Willow is the only person to fully see beyond his walls the way Jaxson does. Her love for him is so pure, utterly devoted to him she accepts Marcus any way he comes. These two have that once in a lifetime true love that you can’t help but cheer for as the fight through ups and downs.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get enough of all these characters. I adore every single one of them.
Total Swoon Worthy! I LOVE this series, these characters have me feeling all the feels. I couldn't wait to read Willow and Marcus's story, and I was surprised to see that their relationship was not what I thought it was. Which of course had me getting even more emotional. With each book that comes out I get more and more invested in these couples. Willow and Marcus are so amazing, the friendship and chemistry they have is perfect! The struggles that they go through just make their relationship even stronger. Their story is a great addition to the series, that you wont want to miss!
If you haven't started this series I highly recommend starting from Book One, and if you are already caught up, you wont be disappointed with this one! Now I need Rhett and Evie's book to come out! Am hoping we wont have to wait to long. The build up to their story is killing me!
