Among a band of brothers, nothing is so despised as a spy. Ruadri Skaraven lives two lives. In one he serves as the healer of his clan, trusted like no other with their well-being. But in the other he serves the enigmatic druids because, secretly, he is also druid-kind. Though he's lived with the shame for years, it is only when another healer sees into his heart that his two lives collide. Emeline McAra doesn't know who she is anymore. Though at first she tenderly nursed her fellow captives, a new violent anger grows deep in her soul. Nor can escape her overwhelming desire for the clan's enormous shaman. It baffles her because the one thing she has always known is that no man would ever truly want her. But while the two healers struggle to find their way, the McAra clan lays claim to her and Ruadri's chieftain must turn her over or risk war.

Hazel and her husband stopped being separate people years ago. They live their happy life in the always crowded, mostly sunny, and sometimes sweltering city of LA. Though they haven’t managed it yet, plans are afoot to add a kitty to the household, thereby giving the allergist fits.

Hazel has been writing full-time for several years, with some traditionally published work in other genres. But it’s her indie-published romance that fuels the creative fire. It turns out writing isn’t a job, it’s an obsession.

When you can pry Hazel’s fingers from the laptop, you’ll find her: on the elliptical watching a documentary, indulging her audiobook habit, or spending quality time with Candy Crush. Although she’s vegan, she’s a disaster in the kitchen. Luckily, potato chips and pinot noir come ready-made.

This is a book is part of a continuing series. To get a full idea of the place and characters you must read the full series. I loved this time travel novel because it is more realistic than Others I have read. Emeline was an over weight nurse in the 21st century who had no true friends or family. She was alone and managing her life while helpful and quiet as well as polite to a fault. She is pulled back in time where she is kidnapped with other time travelers and bruitalized. They all were. Ruadri Sharaven is a Shaman and part druid. He and the band of men who died and were brought back to life as immortals, found the four women and saved them. This is Emeline and Ruadri's story.
It is an interesting idea for a story. It felt real in my mind and I enjoyed reading about their life in the past.

This series is pretty interesting. It mixes time travel with medieval Scottish Highlanders who are really from the first century, good druids, a pair of crazy druids, an evil druidess, a bitter druid and creepy creatures who kind of look like humans but are really ancient totems made from sacred oaks who are now alive. There's really not a moment of boredom in this book.

Ruadri is the shaman for the Scaraven clan, immortal Highlanders who were bred as warrior slaves but who are now free. His clan doesn't know that he is actually half druid. While his clan trained together to fight as children, he was separated and taught druid ways and how to fight. He was trained by a cruel druid named Galan who told him he had to spy on his clan or he would kill them with poison. Ruadri later learned Galan was his sire and hated Ruadri because his wife died during childbirth.

Emeline has endured a living nightmare. She was abducted from present day Scotland where she is a nurse by a creepy tree person, dragged beneath the earth and then whirled into medieval Scotland. There, she learned that the tree creatures were doing the bidding of two psychotic druids. She and four other women were beaten, starved and kept in a freezing barn for weeks until they were rescued by the Scaraven.

Emeline has always been a heavyset woman and suffers low esteem from it. She is also having dark thoughts like she is possessed so when Ruadri shows interest in her, she rebuffs him.

Just as I was getting into this series, I learned that the next book is not out yet. I'll have to wait a little while for it.

(Immortal Highlander, Clan Skaraven Book 3): A Scottish Time Travel Romance

Ruadri Skaraven has led two lives for far too long. In one he serves as healer and Shaman to his clan and in the other he serves the druids becuase he harbours a great secret and that is he is also druid kind. Even though he has lived with this shame for a very long time, it is only when another healer sees into his heart that his two lives end up colliding.

Emeline McAra really doesn't know who she is anymore. At first she tenderly nursed her fellow captives, but now a new violent anger seems to be consuming her whole body from the inside out. Nor can she escape her overwhelming desire for the clans Shaman. This baffles her becuase the one thing she does know is that no man would ever want her.

But while the two healers struggle to find their way growing closer and closer, the Mc Ara Clan lay claim to her as their kin and Ruadri's cheiftan must turn her over to them or risk war.

Another incredible book by Hazel Hunter. Her time travel series is so perfect and I myself can't seem to get enough of this particular series. I have come to really enjoy most characters and dislike others which I believe makes a book just right. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

The story is beautifully written; the descriptions are stunning, and the analogies are exquisite. The writing is tangible; your senses awaken as though you're in the very center of every event, experiencing them alongside the characters. The premises of time-travel is realistically done, you want to experience the enchanting world Hazel Hunter has produced. It's evident she thoroughly researched the periods, and the ancient Scottish vocabulary employed is impeccable. Her incredible imagination, brilliant world-building, and powerful words will captivate you from start to end.

The storyline is riveting, alluring, and utterly engaging, loaded with adventure, suspense, treachery, intrigue, and romance with heartwrenching moments. Just when you think you've figured out how the story will play out, once again, a curveball is thrown, redirecting and obliterating all your assumptions. Honestly, the best way to go into the series is not to read any of the blurbs, it so much more fun that way, you never know the direction the plot will take. Put your faith in the author and enjoy the ride; you won't be disappointed.

The main characters in this installment, Emiline, the nurse, and Ruadri, the Shaman, are genuine, with depth and vulnerabilities. Their love is destined, and their devotion and passion for one another will t-melt your hearts. As for their story, it's compelling, the connection is palpable with charged chemistry.

The series is written so that each installment is interwoven, and the plots proceed to the ultimate conclusion. It's marvelous because it immerses the leader/listeners, enabling them to build a solid connection with the protagonists. The ending is perfectly done and emotional, leaving you feeling satisfied. The twist in at very end has me wanting to jump into the next book. I'm completely addicted to this series.

William Macleod's performance is brilliant. He channels the characters, applying distinct tones for the various personality, bringing them to life. With his delectable Scottish brogue, he sweeps you off your feet, further immersing you into the story. I can't wait to hear the rest of the series!

The combination of a phenomenal plot, incredible characters, and outstanding narration makes Immortal Highlander, Clan Skaraven series standout in the genre. I highly recommend the series.

I was pleased to rate this book a 5! Once again, Hazel does an amazing amount of research on the duids of medieval and first century Scotland and the northern islands. She gives us more new words to add to our repetitoire of ancient vocabulary and her own mystical language that blend seamlessly. Hazel sets the scenes for us to bring the story alive.

Thinking back upon this book, I believe it is the best one yet in this series. The next one will be hard to top it. Our main characters Ruadri and Emeline are both healers with added mystical skills. They are a good match for each other. Each feels unworthy of love and acceptance. Emeline McAra because she was always overweight and scorned by her peers. Ruadri feels like a traitor to his beloved Skaravens. He is half druid and his father blamed him for the death of his mother with his birth. During those times, more than 10% of the women died during childbirth. Galan and the druids train him in the druid ways and charge him with spying on his brother Skaravens. Emeline has the gift of empathy and more. She was a trained nurse in modern times and so their skills are complimentary. Ruadri saw her in a vision and when he sees her in his medieval world, he knos that she is his. As her mind is increasingly affected by the psychotic druids who captured her and 4 other modern women, Ruadri attempts to heal her by taking her through time via the sacred oak grove back to her modern time.
Instead they wind up back in the first century, when he and his Skaraven brothers were not immortal. Although she is now healed, they must figure out what his goddess meant for them to do in this past.
They eventually figure out their true mission, but with tragic results. Bhaltair Flen, despised by the Skaravens for his past treatment of the Skaravens tells the Skaraven chieftain about who Ruadri really is. Ruadri confesses to his tribe his many years of spying an treachery and expects to be executed.
This story is filled with magic and the mystical, love and passion, cruelty war. There is never a moment's gap in the action that moves the story forward. Another fabulous tale by a masterful story-teller, Hazel Hunter.
I received this book as an ARC. The choice to read/review this book was left to my discretion. What a pleasure to share some of the highlights of this magnificent tale.

Death defying

If you like time travel, immortal Highlanders, druid magic, intrigue, betrayals, strong characters and ingenious plots, you should give this series a try. But you definitely need to start with book one.
Something is wrong with Emeline, one of the women from the future. She has moments of strong anger and times where she wants to kill. She even tries to kill her friend Rowan.
Ruadri is the tribe shaman. He feels ashamed of things he has hidden from his tribe of his past including the fact that he is half druid. He had a vision of Emeline when he first awoke in the fourteenth century. So even though he believes that Emeline could be his mate/wife, he doesn't think he deserves her.
He decides that he must send her back to her time in order to heal her both physically and mentally. But the sacred Grove sends them both back in time to the first century instead of the twenty-first. They must discover what they need to do in that time because the Grove will not allow them to return until it is finished.
There is betrayal among the druids. The McAra tribe plays a big part in this book. The fairhearm play a part in the fourteenth and first century.

Ruadri (Immortal Highlander, Clan Skaraven Book 3): A Scottish Time Travel Romance by Hazel Hunter is Time Travel, Immortal, Historical Romance. Ruadri is a Shaman healer but he's also half druid and he's forced to spy for them for centuries but he wouldn't ever put his Clan in any danger. Emeline is a nurse in her time, she not very confident when it comes to her looks and worth. She's an empath and happens to be related to the McAra clan and Brennus, the clan leader has to return her to her clan or war might break out. She could feel someone else taking control of her mind and wanting to hurt everyone around her she knew it won't be long before she'll lose her mind forever. Ruadri wouldn't let this happen and he'll go to great lengths to do so and to keep her safe. Another great addition to the series. Well written, great storyline and plot with amazing characters, action, adventure, passion, and romance. I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest opinion.

Though I found myself confused through forty percent of this story, I was able the parts I understood. Unlike the other Pritani, shaman Ruadri is a one-half druid, one-half Pritani. A small fact of which the others are unaware. Given Brennus' feeling toward Bhaltair Flen and all things druid, Ruadri has kept his secret for thousands of years while being tasked with reporting on his brethren.

Ruadri is already feeling pretty low when Emeline McAra is rescued by the war master along with the other women, Rowan and Perin Thomas, and brought to the Skaraven stronghold. From the beginning, Emeline, who can sense emotions, appears to have great disdain for Ruadri while he only has eyes for her. When Emeline falls sick, despite her bitterness toward Ruadri, the shaman is forced to extreme measures to help her after she tries to kill Rowan Thomas (although most probably want to kill Rowan).

Ruadri and Emeline leave the fourteenth century and travel back in time to when Ruadri was mortal while on the hunt for the mad druids, Hendry and Murdina. It is also where Ruadri will confront his sire, Galan, who abused him after his mother died giving birth to him. Galan blames Ruadri for Fiana's death during childbirth. Ru and Emeline eventually come together while trying to prevent a slaughter of the druids in their time.

Brennus and the clan are away on business with the McAra clan when they learn of Emeline and the missing shaman. Will clan Skaraven arrive in time to save the pair, or will Ru and Emeline be lost in the past? This story will keep you reading well into the night.

This story will have you totally focused on the nurse Emeline McAra who fell through time, not once, but twice! only to come face-to-face with an immortal highlander by the name of Ruadri Skaraven. He is a Shaman with a very special skill set that he calls upon when time and destiny place him and the woman he is focused on, in peril.

This fast-paced romantic drama is filled with unexpected events that kept me flipping pages late into the night. What can I say, I needed an exhale and could not stop until the very end! Thankfully it is a stand alone story which is also a part of a series featuring a number of Skaravens...and I love them all!

Another five star story by the author who never disappoints this reader. Now I am anxiously awaiting to see who the next Hunky Skraven Highlander will be.

Imaginative fantasy series

Ruadri is book 3 in a time travel series set in Scotland. Beginning with Brennus and Caderyn, books 1 and 2, five 21st century women with druid ancestry are abducted and ripped back into the 14th century by an evil couple and their very unusual evil immortal army. The heroes of the books are a clan of 100 highly trained immortal warriors of the Skaraven clan.
I highly recommend all 3 books. A fourth is also due soon.
Like the first two, Ruadri is a wonderful mix of action, mystery, sexy romance, and emotional themes that are still relevant today. Two lonely, tortured souls find redemption and love against dangerous and long odds.

This is the most troubling of the stories. While the others are more of a standard good-guy vs bad guys story line, this one reveals the true twisted nature of many of the characters.

While there is some magic in evidence, the author has taken the time to give us the back stories of abandonment, torture and evil that contributed to some of the characters' personalities. The main character is conflicted and sometimes unable to act. He is paired with a lady love of sympathetic and nurturing nature, which is, of course, exactly what he needs. O, to be an omnipotent author!

If you like your stories dark, this one is for you.

Another fascinating storyline. When Nurse meets Healer, sparks fly. Emeline is an empath and has been traumatized by their capture by the ‘mad’ druids. Ruadri want to help her heal but events come to a head where she is thrown into an oubliette to protect others. How Ruadri and Emeline travel again through the portal, this time back in time, is such a powerful story, that I found it hard to put it down. The battle between good and evil can often be a difficult one to acknowledge. I was pleased with how Emeline tried her best to fight the feelings taking her over. I loved this book and look forward to the next book in this awesome series.

From the beginning I have been looking forward to Ruadri's story. I have been intrigued by this immortal warrior whose allegiance to his Skaraven Clan is firmly entrenched, while also bound to the druid. There are many layers and elements in this story, that make for a very good listening experience. Ruadri and Emeline are perfect for one another, both committed to caring for others, while both are in need of comfort and care themselves. The chemistry between the pair is tangible, brought to life by the melodic voice of the narrator. A well written story of two people who never expected to a find a love worth fighting for. I own both the ebook and audio of this story.

This has to be my favourite so far in the series. Each time I finish a book I think it can't get any better or keep renewing itself to stay fresh, and each time I've been proved wrong so far. I loved the complexities of the characters in this one. A lack of confidence and communication with a ton of hang ups on both sides almost proves fatal. The bad guys become more touching and had me feeling sorry for them. I had to read this one in one sitting. It's beautifully constructed and written.

These books just keep getting better

I've said it before in my review's that I've never been a time travel romance fan. I read the reviews and took a chance and I'm so happy I did. These books just build on themselves. Let's face it series usually aren't that great but these just get better and better. The plot thickens. Twists, turns. The story gets richer and so do the characters. Romance, steamy love scenes, action, adventure. And just when I think I've got it all figured out. Bam! Nope. I love that.

Ruadri lives a dual life with his loyalties strongly tested. In this installment we find out more about the reasons why. Then there is Emeline. Ruadri and Emeline are so perfect for each other. So far, they may be the best matched in my opinion. Each book in this series just keeps getting better and continues to suck me into the Highlands.

Emeline and Ruadri

Emeline McAra is a nurse who has never really fit in. She senses people's emotions. Ruadri is the Skaraven healer, but feels he is a traitor to the clan because he is half druid, and was forced by his father Galen to spy on the Skaravens. Emeline is kidnapped from her time to 14th century Scotland and is attracted to Ruadri, but resists him.

Excellent characterization and plotting.

As enchanting as ever!

Miss Hunter never stopped surprising readers with her power of imagination. I have been traveling through ancient Scotland via her amazing historical romances, following her American heroines to meet powerful Highlanders, mysterious druids and many types of enemies. Although I have just recovered from time=travel's jet-lag, I can't wait to read Miss Hunter's next novel!

A step back in time to a place where there are no frills and chills of the ordinary luxuries but the way of the land and hand made things. I love traveling with this band of Skaravan clansmen. Exhilarating and sentimental yet modern on its own right. Grab a copy and enjoy the adventure.

Forced to spy on his brotherhood Ruadri carries his feelings of guilt inside. Emaline empathy makes her life difficult & even more so after she goes back in time. This story focuses on Emaline & Ruadri's role in protecting their future & in their working together. The larger storyline moves forward as well with the druids & clan working together to thwart the unexpected evil revealed.

Great

This is about Ruadri and Emeline . He is the shaman for the clan and she is the nurse from the future. When Ruadri takes her to the portal to send her to her time in the future and to heal her, she grabs him and pulls them both back to the past where they have to save her ancestors.

Great read..
This one was great to follow along with but there’s too much going on for so much time to pass between the next one. Add on the fact the author will drop the entire story and move on to something else it would be better to wait until they’re all out before reading or not read at all. There’re too many others in the clans for only 3 or 4 to find their mates. What a waste.

Great read

Good story and plot. Love the characters and mystery to it.
Only slight annoyance when reading is there are quite a few italics words. Like the author is needing them to be read with emphasis. Can distract from the flow of the story quite a bit

Another great story ,

The storyline keeps getting better, I am totally engrossed. I hope it ends well, but on one hand I don't want it to end.
The only thing I don't care for is the gratuitous sex. We can get the idea without getting pornographic.

I felt like this book was setting up the one to come more than it was dealing with the Ruadri and Em. I liked it and the convoluted time thing was confusing. If Ruadri visited his father in the past, why did he hate him so much? But it was still fun.
