Ryland was perfectly happy with his head buried in the sand.
Ryland was convinced that there had to be something better than racing toward adulthood. He just wasn’t sure what it was. Between the decisions about college majors and careers, and never-ending responsibilities, all he wanted to do was let it all go and just unwind. Unfortunately, everyone else’s idea of fun was more stressful than relaxing.
Holden never expected to find the sub of his dreams at the grocery store.
Overhearing the voice on the next aisle talking about how much fun baby biscuits and kiddie snacks were was the last thing Holden expected to happen at the grocery store. But it was music to his ears. Except, the sexy voice didn’t seem to understand what his preferences might actually mean.
As Ryland discovers that growing older doesn’t have to mean growing up, Holden wants to be the Daddy who gets to show him how perfect being little can be.
65K Words Story Contains: M/m Sexual Content, BDSM elements, Spankings, Age Play, Mild ABDL
Yeah, I adored this, but it's to be expected since this is my favorite subgenre of the kink/BDSM world. However, DO NOT read this book if you aren't interested in age gaps, age play, daddy kink, daddy/little play, age regression play, and ADBL. You've been warned!!
I fully, 100% expect people to not get this book and not like it. Kink is a strange thing, and what turns some people's crank doesn't turn others on or doesn't work for them. In the world of BDSM, I'm not into lots of things, mainly rope work, impact play, master/slave kink, or anything else that most people think of when they think of BDSM. Daddy kink is a totally different beast.
I think what would surprise most readers is that the actual explicit sex content is fairly low. I mean, there is a lot of on-page sex, but most of the "kinky" content is lifestyle kinds of things, like coloring with crayons and giving up control. I'm into power exchange relationships with my reading (no, not my real life!), and so this kind of dynamic works for me.
I thought that the daddy/boy dynamic was just so fluffy and adorable. I love a squishy, affectionate daddy character, and this is exactly what I got here.
The book is very low angst. There is no drama, no conflict. It's just an exploration of a relationship and getting to know what kinds of kink works for these characters. It was sweet.
This book kept me reading until late in the night, and it made me smile my face off. No, this won't work for many, many readers (read my content warnings!!!), but for those of us who like this kind of thing, it is a sweet, easy read that will fit what you are looking for.
I can't think of anything more off-putting than an adult wearing a diaper and sucking a bottle for fun. I'm trying not to judge, but the whole Daddy/little dynamic just doesn't work for me at all.
Thankfully, Ryland was not little during sex, but it still crossed a line for me.
I don't think this is a bad story, a little boring maybe, but there were no egregious editing issues and I liked Ryland's friend Finn.
The rating is more me than anything else. If you like age play stories, give this one a go.
I'm glad this book popped up on my Kindle Unlimited search for more M/M books. I liked the dynamic between these characters and I found Holden to be an incredibly sweet guy Daddy. I just wish we got to see more of that and more of him and Ryland together. I felt like too much of the book, especially the beginning, was nothing but Ryland being convinced to give the DD/lb thing a try and talking to his friend Finn about his wants. It was like everything was talked about more than actually happening.
I thought the change from the unsure Ryland to the more confident boy we saw at the end was kind of sudden, but I did like those parts a lot more and the heat level definitely went way up at the end. I'll definitely be reading more of this author and I'm excited to see what else will come from this series.
First I just want to say this book was good. I wish Ryland and his Daddy the best. But I think I need a beak from M.A.Innes. All of her book are very much the same. There is a lot of inner dialogue. Which is fine if I'm reading a mystery book. But can be very boring in a love story. (not always). Then you can't forget the nosy BFF. Finn would ask so many personal questions that Ryland had to answer.
Another thing that got on my nerves was how many time they need to talk about need to talk. This book was only 200 pg.TALKING was said 23 times . I stared skipping paragraphs. Overall I like the book but I didn't love it.
I’ve read several M.A. Innes age play books. And while I love the comfort parts, they do always bore me a bit.
Ryland is a 21 year old guy who’s doing some grocery shopping with his best friend. When he tells his best friend that he doesn’t get why grown-ups are no longer allowed to use all the fun kid/baby stuff, someone in the next aisle overhears them talking.
Holden is Ryland’s neighbor and he can’t believe it when he hears Ryland and his friend talk. The boy couldn’t be more perfect for him. So he walks up to the boys and tells them there are websites for kid’s stuff for adults.
Ryland doesn’t know what to think when he hears what his hot neighbor has to say about grown-ups acting like kids. And when his best friend Finn explains more when they get home, he’s not sure what to think. It’s okay to want to watch cartoons? To want to not have any responsibilities? To basically act like a kid?
When Ryland’s parents are on holiday for the summer, Holden thinks it is time he and Ryland get to know each other better….
What I like about age play books is the caring one partner does for the other. The way the boy can just let go and not think for a while.
Ryland was a sweet guy who just wanted someone to take care of him. And Holden was glad to do that for him. I really liked these guys and their dynamic.
But…. I still got a little bored halfway through. I have this almost with all M.A. Innes’ books and I don’t even know why that is. The writing is pretty decent and everything is explained in a way that’s engaging and keeps me interested.
A beautifully written tale about a young man who doesn't understand why he's unfulfilled by relationships and sex in general.
Sexy, dommy, daddy, older next door neighbour looking to make a connection.
Then the two men meet (though a totally adorable encounter).
M.A. Innes does an amazing job building up to their age-play D/s relationship. Heck, once they do get together that's amazing too... Honestly (IMHO) this might be her best age-play story I've read.
No rating. This is not a kink that I understand. I did love Finn. I can’t wait to read his book next.
reread 4/15/2020 after months of reading books with age play, I can now say this book is cute. Finn and Ryland’s relationship is still my favorite part (Finn is full of awesome).
Sorry, age play, as it seems, is not something that I'm interested in reading. I was really excited to find out if I enjoy it or not and, sadly, the answer is no. This is 'it's me, not the book' case as it was just the topic that didn't interest me.
So disappointed! Really got into the story and then it just crashed and burned. DNF @ 85%. Didn't buy the drastic, 180 degree character flips and jarring relationship change.
Ryland, a 21-year-old man who while doing some grocery shopping with his best friend, when they realize that someone in the next aisle has overheard them talking. That someone is Holden, a college professor and Ryland’s neighbor who can’t believe it when he hears what Ryland, and his friend are talking about. He knows that Ryland is the "boy' he was hoeing for and couldn’t be more perfect for him. He confronts the boys and tells them there are websites for adults that provide "things" for adult kid play. Rylands fiend explains it to him, but Ryland doesn't quite know what to think about it all...except it appeals to him on some level. Ryland knows if he and Ryland are going to get to know one another more, he is going to have to try to get the "boy" out of his closeted comfort zone. Ryland is a sweet guy who just wanted but didn't know he wanted or needed, someone to take care of him. And Holden was glad to do that for him. I really liked these two characters and their dynamic, but I became a little bored about halfway through with the waiting for Ryland to get with the program. I know Holden didn't want to scare Reyland, but this guy is 21 years old and can't possibly be all that "innocent" with today's access to the internet and the interest he has had in the BDSM lifestyle. The writing is decent, and everything is explained in a way that’s engaging and keeps the reader and the story interesting. So 4 stars for a good story by a wonderfully talented author.
You know all of the things that make age play so fun to read? Like a sweet little, caring Daddy, and hot, hot sex? This book has them all.
I loved following Ryland as he discovered the lifestyle that he was meant to live. Ryland's energy and innocence paired with Holden's patience and love made this a pair I really loved reading about... and, of course, the chemistry with these two is off the charts!
This was a sweet story. I struggle sometimes with how little this author writes her characters, but this one seemed to have a better balance for me.
Ryland was pretty clueless at the beginning of the story, but between his best friend Finn and Holden, he opened up pretty quick. It is very apparent that Holden and Ryland are perfect for one another.
I do wish that we would've had more in the future with these two in the epilogue.
Okay, I don't even like age-play books and this was SERIOUSLY hot. To the author's credit, it's not super explicit. What makes is so steamy is the anticipation. The author does a delicious job stringing her readers along until we're as sexually frustrated as her characters. Well done!
Ryland is sweet, a college student on break, with a BFF who prods him to experience all he desires, especially during the break while his (controlling) parents are away on vacation. So he does. He catches the attention of his neighbor Holden Reed by placing his teddy bear in his window. There's more to the dance of attraction but it ultimately works and Ryland and Mr. Reed, aka Sir or Daddy, start slowly and build a beautiful relationship.
Ryland is known as Riley when he is a Little and he falls into the role as if natural and comforting and was meant to be. All of which is true. And Holden gets his heart's desire, a handsome and sweet young man who gives his control to his Daddy, knowing he'll be cared for and loved.
Really a lovely story with great characters but I wanted more. Hopefully these two will make an appearance in the next book in the series, which I'll be reading right away.
Oh lord, no!! I’m sure this is a sweet book ... but it just wasn’t for me :-/!! This read more like a manual on “how to be a daddy’s boy” than anything else and with the super sloooooow pace, after 40% of this snooze fest, I just couldn’t be bothered to read anymore and definitely wasn’t interested enough to find out if the pace shifts!! Nope!! DNF!!
Perfect Daddies roam the grocery stores, spotting perfect boys in the baby aisle. Easy read that passed the time. Not terrible, just pretty forgettable with flat characters.
I absolutely love every book I've read from this author...She just keeps out-doing herself...Holden and Ryland were just amazing together...But the way Finn, Ryland's friend helped him to see what he wanted, pushed him just enough......Holden is the perfect Daddy for Riley.....The way he takes care of him, not pushing him too fast....I really really want more of these two x
Re-read 1/18/21: I'd completely forgotten about the restaurant scene. So hot!
Re-read 10/22-23/2019: Riley is the best boy, so good for his Daddy!
I adore the relationship between best friends Ryland and Finn -- can we have a Finn book PLEASE?! -- and this relationship makes a beautiful path to Ryland and Holden's exploration. I love Ryland opening up to who he wants to be and Holden's easy validation of all aspects of Riley, Ryland, and Boy. So beautiful!
WOW! This is yet another fantastically written story that, even though it's meant to be "taboo", doesn't feel that way when reading it. I seriously don't know how M.A Innes does it but, whenever I read a taboo story they've written, it never feels as though I'm reading something taboo. This one is an Age play taboo read about Holden & Ryland. Ryland at first is pretty much asexual, his past experiences have left him.......Not unhappy but more........At a loss. His best friend, Finn, who he shares literally EVERYTHING with thinks it's because he has to have a connection with his bed partner but when an off the cuff remark by his new neighbour in the local supermarket sends him in a spin, Finn realises that maybe it's not just a connection he needs..... Holden has never shied away from letting people know his kink of enjoying being a Daddy/Dom, and isn't about to now. What starts as a game of "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" (No, it's not a sexual showing either!), he soon realises that his neighbour may not be as shy and reserved as he first thought.......That all he needs is to realise that not everyone is close-minded when it comes to living/wanting an alternative lifestyle. They are both surprised at how unexpectedly their lives change once they realise how well they fit together, and when they do "fit together" OH BOY!!! Do things get hot and steamy!! This is definitely not a book to read in public, unless that's what you're into......... Absolutely FANTASTIC read and I seriously hope Finn gets his own book too!!!!
Okay I bought this to give Daddy/little a try. Not sure it's for me. (not kink-shaming) but I kept thinking "I think Ryland needs therapy, not a daddy to deal with his parents' issues". LOL Basically Ryland is incredibly ... I don't know, not innocent because his friend Finn makes sure he understands EVERYTHING but he just wants to live in a bubble where he doesn't know about anything that makes him uncomfortable. When his sexy older next-door neighbor thinks Ryland might be a little, Finn practically chucks them together and it works from there, with much hesitancy and nerves.
I liked Holden (Daddy), I LURVED Finn, Ryland kind of annoyed me. Maybe because I don't like kids much? LOL Not sure. I don't get the appeal. I get wanting to escape everyday stress, I get wanting to be a caretaker, but this kind of takes it to a whole other level with diapers and the like. So while I didn't dislike it, I'm pretty sure it's not a kink for me.
Absolutely unbelievably sexy and stimulating. Ryland and his Daddy are so perfect it's captivating. Bumping into a new neighbor at the grocery store while he overheard a very interesting conversation with your best friend seems like the best fate has to offer. M.A. Innes has done it again just in awe, really.
I just loved Finn and Beckett’s story. They were so sweet together and their chemistry was off the charts for me. Inwas pulled in from the start and didn’t want to set it down. I loved how Finn pursued Beckett and how he took his time to get his attention and take care of him from afar. I appreciated the time and care that Finn took in learning how to be the best Dom for Beckett that he could be. I found that care very sexy.
I also liked seeing other characters from previous stories, especially the glimpses of Kevin and Jeremy. I hope we see more of these characters crossing over, with perhaps a play date in there sometime!
Once again this author shows us she’s the Queen of Swinky.
At first I thought the beginning was awkward, then I realized it was Ryland being awkward, not the author! Absolutely loved Ryland discovering age play, and Holden is his perfect Daddy. And I am so curious about Ryland’s friend Finn. That should be another fantastic read.
There are things I have come to expect from a M.A. Innes novel: something taboo presented in the most beautiful way, a love story that grows and really shows the connection the two characters have, and a fabulous best friend that leaves you waiting for their story. This book delivered in every way and I loved it! While there are the elements I “expect” for here, they are again delivered in a fresh way that presents a whole new dynamic to explore. I loved Ryland and his self discovery. His relationship with Finn was so unique and I cannot wait to see more of that! And the relationship that grows between Holden and Ryland is so genuine it is impossible not to enjoy every moment they spend together. Highly recommend.
I have to say Ryland has become one of the most loved characters for. He is such a sweetheart. Even though he is nervous and scared, he still goes for what he thinks he may want; a Daddy. Of course he needed a niche from Finn. This book was such a great read. One thing it did do was leave me wanting more. I would like to know how Ryland and Holden are doing but more importantly, what's up with Finn? I'm thinking he might have learned some things about himself while helping out Ryland. Also, Jonathan has me intrigued as well. As is the case with this author, I'm a greedy reader who will always want more. Sorry but not really. :-)
Here’s the thing, I keep reading age play books even though I tend to not like them. I did like that this wasn’t your typical complete brat and daddy dom, but it still just isn’t my thing. Even with that, I liked the first probably half of the book where Ryland was figuring himself out because I enjoy self discovery books, but at some point my interest and attention just fizzled out.
The best so far of the four abdl-themed books I've read! Writing ok, the characters seemed solid and the story har flow - but as far as the kink went, naah. Hot and squirrely absolutely, but not erotica.
Ryland and Holden are neighbours. Holden overhears a conversation at the grocery store between Ryland and his friend Finn, and his curiosity is piqued.. I liked the way the relationship between Holden and Ryland begins. The window game was a cute way for them to interact & begin to push themselves without pushing too far.. Both men are hopeful and excited to see where it will lead. Ryland wants what he is pretty sure Holden can give him but is too shy to ask for it. He's scared of the reaction and possible rejection he may face from Holden if he puts himself out there and admits what he really wants. "I had a feeling it didn't matter what he needed, I'd go to just about any lengths to give it to him."
The innocence of Ryland was endearing. It was adorable watching him take the initiative. He's trying so hard to ask for what he wants, not hiding from Sir. "Sometimes I think you like driving me crazy as much as Finn does." "Oh, Ryland, I plan on driving you even more crazy than he does, and in much better ways."
"Being little was fabulous. I had a Daddy to take care of me, he cuddled me and let me play, and I got bubbles in the bathtub. Why weren't more people into this?"
Holden is a great Daddy, nurturing and attentive to Ryan in all the right ways. Helping him to realise it's ok to want what they both crave. "Sweet boy, you never have to thank me for taking care of you or giving you what you need."
I loved the way their relationship grows and strengthens. Both men becoming more confident with each other and their happiness. "Ryland was so sweet and loving, it would be impossible not to feel strongly about him."
I adored everything about Holden and Ryland and their book.
I look forward to Finn's book. Please M.A. Innes.. please tell me we get Finn's story!!
