The Chicago Poems

Rate this book
Chicago is the subject of these poems that have been praised by Studs Terkel and Fredrick Buechner. These poems are written by a poet who is intimately familiar with Chicago all his life. Vivid imagery and some photos bring the reader into the urban story that is Chicago.

Short book of poetry about Chicago. I’ve owned this for about five years now (no clue where I thrifted it), and finally got around to reading it after it sat patiently on my shelf all this time. A lot of the poems were kind of forgettable minus, “Of All the Many Reasons Children Don’t Live in Cities.” That poem was my favorite! The line “Fingers that suckle in mouths move little money” absolutely went hard and stayed with me long after I finished.
