Even shorter than the rest and only the build-up for the next one, this book was just not engaging. The entire story can be said with a few words: this is going to be so difficult - suddenly it's easy because ✨️ magic✨️ - oh no everything looks so bad - the end.
At this point it lost me so much so that I probably won't read the next one.
Let's start with a few general gripes. At 90 pages (though, the book ended at 83% and the rest was advertisement, so it's really much less than that), this is a novella, at best, and at worst, a short story. Also, despite the inclusion of fantasy creatures and being set in a high fantasy world, there's really very little fantasy-ish elements in this. It's basically 80% romance and 20% making plans and waiting for several battles to begin. That's it.
This book was noticeably not edited. To the point where it really distracted from the story and made it hard to read. There were obvious homophone mistakes (hear vs. here), wrong words that don't make sense, omitted words, and at one point, Eostre is called Easter. So many simple mistakes that the author could have (should have?) picked up with self-editing. So that was rather disappointing.
The biggest gripe I have about the plot is that, basically, nothing happens. There's a lot of build-up and preparation, but other than that, it's pretty much slice-of-life scenes through this whole thing. There's a pretty heavy reliance on romance and the hint of a budding romance, which I have no interest in either romance, so that didn't really hold my attention.
I also felt the characters were pretty unbearable in this. Pretty much all of them. Aros is pining over Amalia, Kylan is spouting cheesy romantic lines and so in love, and Amalia is completely smitten. Amalia is also missing some major parts of a character arc. In this, for some reason, now she's so self-assured and confident in her role and her magic (neither of which I fully understand still) that she gets insulted that people aren't taking her seriously because she's been through things, okay? Enough where she feels like her experience is on par with these middle-aged, war-beaten dragons. Which is just ... no.
While the first two books did a pretty good job of holding my attention, this one really just lost it. I think the author is planning to release another book soon, but I don't think I'll be continuing on with the series.
Fire and Fury is the third book in the Empire of Dragons series. This should not be read as a standalone as it builds on the story from the previous books and ends in a cliffhanger. There is violence and some sexual scenes. This story is about a queen who didn't know what she was until recently and her attempts to return back to their homeland. While the story in this book was okay, it didn't have the WOW factor that either of the previous books did.
Fire and Fury..... The furious are about to unleash their fire This was a short book but a great read none the less. Amalia and Kylan are back with their Dragon Clans and on their way to reclaim their land. But nothing is that easy. The Brotherhood will not be stopped and a clash is inevitable. I was hooked as I read, desperate to know the outcome. But it ended on a cliff-hanger and I really want to read book 4. This is my honest review of the ARC I received.
Sad to say that not much happens in this book and it really needed an editor to clean it up. Kylan and Amalia go to Wregard and proclaim her as the Queen who will lead them back to their homeland, Kjos. Meanwhile, Aros and his brothers head to the citadel to convince their king that they must make allies of their enemies. They then plan to continue long to Skal, the land of magic. Neither one will have an easy path to their goal.
It was a good continuation of the story ,but a lack of good editing and a rushed story that just stopped cold at the end. That I was able to read the 3 books in the series in one day shows how each book got progressively shorter. The three books combined would make one fantastic book. It would be nice to have a little more back story on the different groups of characters. Wolves, dragons, fairies, etc. I hope the next book will be longer with more substance.
I was highly anticipating this sequel and was left wanting more by the end. Not much really happened but it set up the storyline for the next book. I can’t wait to see what happens next and where the characters go from here. I’m anxious for the epic battle to reclaim their lost homeland.
This third installment to the series was still an enjoyable read. It was much shorter than the previous two though. The author should've labeled this as a novella instead of a novel. There was very little happening with the storyline and characters as it was so short. It was good to see the storyline progress though from the first book.
Cant wait to read the next book. There is romance in this book and a lot of passion. This is a very slow burn but it works for this as most of the book is action filled.
Wow what another great fantasy story by this amazing author. The Mage and her dragon have to destroy the Shadow Master. This won’t be an easy task. A fast paced story that has you hooked until the end. Can’t wait to read more.
MARCH TO JUSTICE. I liked the way Amalia stood tall and showcased her emerging talents with confidence under the scrutiny of nonbelievers. This story reels you in as this third installment continues the tale of right over wrong. Looking forward to the next book and rooting for the good guys!
Book 3 was a fun read and had errors throughout. The plot and characters have grown well and was exciting to read. The series seems rushed but was well done overall.
I think there's a lot of potential but I feel like the world building in this series is very lacking which can make it hard to follow as things come up as and when it's convenient for the story.
