An excellent, concise reference guide for beginning or advanced anglers. However, those looking for in-depth information will need to look elsewhere.

Pros:
-I use this book mostly for species identification, a purpose in which it excels. The descriptions are detailed, and differences from similar species are clarified.
-Bait suggestions and habitat descriptions offer a good starting point for anglers.
-Both fresh and saltwater species in the same book.

Cons:
-I found the gear recommendations simplistic, and they used somewhat old-fashioned terminology.
-There is an occasional inaccurate/unhelpful illustration.
-The "fishing systems" information (I.e., drifting, trolling, still-fishing) is basically unnecessary.
-The title is deceptive; the book covers sport fish as well as bait fish and, well, trash fish.

At times I would prefer fewer species and more info on each, but there are other books for that purpose. This is a basic yet solid guide to most any fish that can be caught in Florida.
