Behind these bricks, life comes at you fast. And whether you’re here by choice or circumstance, there are lessons to be learned as well as taught. Nobody knows The Bricks better than the women who live between them. These are their stories of lessons, blessings, love, and loss, brought to you brick by brick. The choice to look back in order to move forward was the easiest choice I’d ever made. I’d spent my whole life not truly knowing myself, and my parents assumed that their love and protection would heal that wound. Unfortunately, all they did was cover it up, and one could only pretend to be whole for so long, before seeking actual wholeness took over their focus. And that’s how I landed in the Rose Palms, Apt. #A1. It was where my story had started, and where I’d finally know what it meant to be whole. Oh, I’m Freddie, by the way. Watch your step and have a seat. And don’t mind the drumming from next door.
Sabrina B. Scales is a national best-selling author of vibrant and passionate romance whose unique style of writing highlights real stories about real people falling in real love, and can be attributed to her humble upbringing in a small town in Southeast Texas, where happy endings were usually the result of hard work.
While I loved this series, Apt. A1 didn't really resonate with me like the other books. The author gave us 41 pages of unnecessary backstory on Freddie and Roman. These characters didn't need a backstory because, it wasn't prevalent to the present. I find it interesting that Freddie and Roman got a backstory but, Tasia didn't. This kind of azz backwards writing really annoys me. You would think the way book three ended, Freddie and Keshia's relationship would've been a major part of the storyline but, it wasn't. It was barely a blip in the book. If you blinked, you missed that conversation between Freddie and Keshia because, that's the only time her adoption came up. And, how did Freddie even find out Keshia was her mama?!!! The author never gave an explanation on that. At the end of book three, Freddie was clueless. Keisha was the only one who figured it out. Now, all of a sudden, she had an epiphany and just guessed Keshia was her biological mama?!!! Come on man! Can we please get some common sense writing?!!! The author also never explained why Roman refused to call Freddie by her name. When your man will call you everything but your given name, an explanation needs to be had and, once again, the author missed the mark on that. And the math on Keshia's age didn't add up. Keshia was 36 and Freddie was 26. That would mean Keshia gave birth when she was 10 and that's not correct. Keshia had Freddie when she was 13 so, she should've been 39. Is it just that y'all think we don't pay attention to what y'all write?!!! A lot of things about this book frustrated me but, I really did like Freddie and Roman as a couple. They were the youngsters of The Bricks. Although they were in their mid 20s, they’d already gone through a lot but, that didn't stop them from grinding and chasing their dreams. The Bricks series was a great series. What I really like about all of the books is that, the issues each character went through was not only realistic but, relatable as well. Aside from issues I had with some of the books, I would still recommend this series.
Freddie and Roman's story bought everything full circle! Loved both Mamas, Pops, daddies, sisters and little brother! This is not the usual family story but it's fun and full of love flowing from The Bricks and beyond!
The Rose Palms just happen to be the home of some of my favorite people. This author appeals to me because she’s writing about real people overcoming real issues but doing it with grace and integrity. It’s good to see characters that have been dealt a tough hand making the most of it and thriving.
Freddie and Roman are the youngsters of the bricks. They’re in their mid twenties and they’ve already seen a lot in life, but they’re grinding and chasing dreams. They cross paths and life becomes interesting for them! Speed bumps and sharp turns are inevitable in their journey, but they try to navigate the road to their best abilities. It’s a short story but we see them mature and grow, and you can’t help but to fall in love with them!
Do yourself a favor and visit the tenants of Rose Palms if you haven’t already. You won’t be disappointed!
Ever read a book and kept going one more chapter, one more chapter then I’m going to sleep it’s late I’m exhausted and I’ve got a long day tomorrow... just one more chapter?
Well I picked up Freddie and couldn’t put her down until I was done. Freddie and Roman find themselves falling inlove in a situationship though both agree to be more the more is never defined and that is always a problem, especially for them coming from where their from. I loved them as individuals and adore them as a couple. Would love a bricks “where are they now” series in the future *hint hint wink nudge*
I love Ms Scales writing style it draws you in and her characters live in your mind for weeks to come and Freddie is no exception.
The fourth book in The Bricks series is about Freddie. In book 3, we found out that she is Keshia's first born daughter. Here, we see the internal struggle of an adult child dealing with a blended family, while being in a situationship. I have to admit that I loved how the mothers came together for the sake of their daughter.
Roman is Freddie's next door neighbor and friend with benefits. Will his baby mama drama result in him losing a good thing?
This was another page-turner from @authorsabrinabscales. The characters were developed and the plot was engaging. I loved everything about this book, and my favorite character is Freddie's father. He just seemed so down to earth. I highly recommend that you check out this series, and hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
I never want these books to end. I thought Keshia and Desmond were my favorite until this book. Maybe Freddie’s connection to Keshia helped a bit but I just loved her strength. She didn’t allow all the bad she lived through to make her a victim. She had a spirit of gratefulness that was very evident. Roman was just a good dude. Was he perfect? No, but he really was a genuinely good guy who also had wounds that needed to heal. This story is one of two wounded but healing souls finding each other and growing together through love.
SelbS knew exactly what she was doing when she penned this story. Freddie and Roman had a relationship of convenience. They satisfied each others craving until Freddie needed more. Say my name Roman! That was powerful. You'll need to read this one. You met Freddie and Roman last Christmas, this was their story...
Where to I begin with this book? Really this whole series? If you are looking for a beautiful story of two imperfect people growing into love and overcoming some deep stuff individually then this is the novel for you. This authors growth is AMAZING! The Bricks is definitely in my top 3 reads of all time! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Keshia was forced to give her child away at a young age after her innocence was taken away from here. Here she is reconnected to that child 26 years later. I loved reading about Keshia’s growth and learning about Freddie as a woman. Great job Sabrina. This was a great series.
Freddie and Roman may just be my favorite couple in this series! I wanted to see them win, individually and as a couple and I wasn't disappointed. I hope we get to revisit them in a future book....hint, hint. :-)
Book 1 Yaaaaassssss Anette school these youngsters💃🏾! I really thought I was gonna be disappointed in Camille's decision. I was reading just waiting for her to mess it up like so many others, but she finally got fed up with being the fool🙌🏾. I loved the realness of this storyline, everything about this book was relatable. But I can't be long with this review cause I need to go see what this man done did to Tasia's babies... Book 2 Look! I never had to experience nothing like Tasia and don't ever want to! But when I tell I felt every bit of pain that girl was going through...chileeee. And girl WTF did yo man do to them babies? Tasia will you ever heal enough to let us know? And girl stop giving that man a hard time and go ahead and let him love you through and past that pain. Book 3 Keshia 😟🙄🤨🤔🧐. Girl wth is you doing, you done gave me a headache. I gotta take a nap, I'll be back later😏 Ok, I see you, but Josh is acting like a lil bihh, TF is his problem? He's got a lot of nerve and in need of a serious reality check.🤬 😳 Oh shyt! I just knew I had Ms. Brooke's story all figured out. When I figured out the real story,, I was totally wrong🥴. These stories really have me intrigued and I have been loving every one of them! On to the last😢 Book 4 Oh God Freddie was getting on my last nerve. She should have been still living with her parents cause she was surely acting like a child with her over the top bratty azz ways🙄 3.5* Please, Please don't let 3.5* deter you from these books. I promise you will be missing out!My rating is for my reason and it was just a few things for me that kept it from being 5* What I love most is the way these books are so realistic. I love how this is author is gifted with her wording that you actually see the scenes play out. The comedy is thrown in at the most perfect moments...yeah this author has definitely gained a new follower!
As much as I loved the Bricks ladies, I didn't quite love Freddie. While her story was one I have much empathy for, I couldn't get past her continually trying to sabotage a very sound relationship. She obviously had some issues and instead of dealing with them head on, she let them fester into what she had with Roman.
Roman was a man just as lost as Freddie, yet for his own set of reasonings based on abandonment issues from his dead dad. I liked him, nonetheless, for pursuing his dreams and being honest with Freddie. As with most things, once you find a good thing, or make it concrete, drama comes lingering it's ugly head into the mix. The one night (condom free🤨) stand he had ended up with more than he bargained for, yet I'm glad he took on daddy duties like a father should. I'm glad he was honest with Freddie and wish she'd been in a better headspace to see that he was being real with her and needed her to help him get through this new journey, instead of being a bit irrational about it all and cutting him out of her life without having a grown-up conversation about things. Yet, with some time apart, they were able to come back to each other and hopefully stay that way. Love can truly make you do crazy things🤦🏾♀️.
I liked that Freddie was teaching and getting her Master's degree. That's no easy feat. I'm also glad she connected with Keshia, her birth mother, and siblings, while still keeping the relationship with her foster parents and foster sister. Lots of love all around.
This was a good story. I would like a follow up on all the Bricks ladies, now that I'm invested in their lives.
Noooo say it ain't so. I am at the end of The Bricks series and I am super sad about it. This is such an AMAXING series. Loved Freddie and Roman and their journey to happily ever after. Freddie meeting Keisha and all her siblings. Keisha and The Brooks joining together as parents for Freddie. This Bricks Camille, Tasia, Keisha, and Freddie was awesome seris from Sabrina B Scales
This review is for the entire Brick series. SB did a great job telling some really tough stories with honesty, humor and hope (not to mention sizzling sex scenes). Each story was a ride, with messy twists and turns and broken people trying to find their way. Loved the redemption, kindness and optimism that was woven throughout each story as well as the feeling of community. Excellent series and I’d highly recommend it!
I loved this series!!!!! Real and intense experiences that women live daily!!!!! Deep and thought provoking with traumatizing you. Each woman was resilient and showed growth and ownership of their lives. Developing a better future in spite of their past. This was an awesome experience!!!!!
As usual for these Bricks Books, I was a crying mess. Loved to see the personal growth of Freddie and Roman. I would love to see what happens to Jewel later in life. Overall great story of a realistic love.
I loved ❤ this book's storyline. I loved ❤ hot & steamy scenes. I loved ❤ Freddie's character. I was very happy 😊 for Freddie. I was very proud of Freddie. I loved ❤ Roman's character. I loved ❤ the family 👪 scenes. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Scales.
Freddie was definitely hot and cold with Roman so much that I thought they weren't going to make it! I think she had abandonment issues because of Keshia. I'm glad things turned out the way they did for her.
Please please do more of this series! I loved the idea of it and it leaves you wanting more! Like a sequel or a continuation of the younger kids. So sad it ended so soon!
Could give a better ending that included everybody. Shoot Ro and Freddie both had more going on with life. How she take being stepmom. Guess i just want more.
The Freddie story was not what I expected but it was still ok. I wasn’t 100% sold on Freddie and Roman. Glad keisha is able to spend time with all her children
This was an okay read for me. Interesting storyline with good character development but this has to be my least favorite out of the series. I still recommend it
