Feral #3

Torment

Rate this book
He sacrificed everything for me.
The beast who took me against my will and tied my soul to his so tightly I can no longer breathe without him.
He sacrificed his freedom. His life.
For me.
They say love will make you do anything, give anything.
But what’s between him and I - it isn’t love. It’s a bond.
And my destruction.

Torment is the third book in Nora Ash’s suspense-filled Omegaverse serial, Feral.
Please note: This series gets dark, and it gets dirty. If you don’t enjoy your romance scorching and your alphas rough & dominant, give this book a pass.

I am Nora Ash, and I write a plethora of different romance books. Some of them are really dirty, some of them are only kinda-dirty, some are paranormal, some are contemporary… Basically, I have a rampant imagination and no way of controlling it, except from just writing down whichever idea pops into my head at the time.

The one thing my books always have in common, though? A great story and a guaranteed HEA.
If you’re ever in doubt about what you’re about to read, have a look at my book page. It has a flame rating for each series, so you know what you’re getting yourself into!

I’m originally from the cold North (AKA Scandinavia) but these days I live in rainy England with my amazing fiancé and our two pesty cats. When I’m not writing, I’m probably reading, watching Real Housewives of Wherever (reality tv it’s my shameful addiction) or hiking in whatever bit of woodland I can find.

Three fun facts about me

I once ran away with a traveling circus
I’m bilingual. Almost-kinda trilingual, but my Spanish is terri-bad these days.
I’m a decent rider (English style only, though)

And they lived happily ever after…

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 👨🏻👱🏻‍♀️🧔🏻👱🏼‍♂️

The heroine: Lillian - unwilling but now bonded mate to #351, she was used, tortured and nearly raped while stuck in the research facility in captivity.

The Hero(es): Zach (a.k.a. 351) - he is a Navy Seal and an Alpha that was on death row for killing his superior in the military under suspicious circumstances. He refused to submit while in captivity until he made Lillian his mate, when they used her against him.

The Story: Zach was able to stage an escape from the research facility and he got Lillian out, but was shot in the process. Since then he has been tortured and drugged to a feral state where he barely understood language and was more animal than man.

The narrators were the same as in the second book, Despair. I liked the voices. The male had a deep voice that was perfect for Zach and the female sounded intelligent, yet had a softer voice which made it believable that she was a scientific researcher and submissive.

In this book Lillian was free but Zach was being tortured more than ever before. Lillian finds her way to the Alpha that Zach told her to go to for help. I don’t want to give up the story, but I enjoyed it and there was no cliffhanger on this one.

2 stars for 2 reasons:

The number one being that there was no logical reason to split this up into 3 smaller parts. It would have already been a short read if it was all together, but to break it down even further is kindof insulting. Add on the fact that the first installment in this "series" was released in April, so there was also a ton of waiting time between books.

Reason #2: there was an extremely disgusting rape scene. It happens to the villain as the heroines form of revenge, but it felt very distasteful and it made me nauseous. It was gory and detailed and made me question why I was even reading it. All of that effort could have been spent on more scenes with the hero and heroine, as they didnt get much to begin with. Someone was constantly being beaten up or raped or murdered that the couple barely had any time to be together happily.

What started out as a sexy, albeit non-safe, paranormal read turned into a poorly constructed jumble of "action stuff."

I decided to finish this series after so much time and I'm glad. I was spoiled back then with these feral alphas that don't ask permission for a kiss unlike the new books coming out from some of these authors. It's a fast read and it has a lot of action but it also has a lot of bond angst and omega dynamic torment.

Talk about a well-deserved HEA. The author put me through torment throughout this series. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it got worse. I love how unpredictable this series has been.

I almost dropped a star, because I felt so demoralized by what the Alpha in this series had to go through....it was emotional torture. While I loved the camaraderie among his friends, and how dedicated the heroine was to helping her mate...I really wanted the Alpha to somehow take charge of the situation himself and be in control of getting revenge. The circumstances he was up against were so daunting he needed the help of his friends and mate though.

If you don't mind an Omegaverse serial this is a good series. 4 stars overall, with book 1 being my favorite.

3rd and last book was the worse, it should’ve been the best out of the series, but I found it underwhelming. This book was longer than the last 2 at 170 pages.

Spoiler

In book 2, she escapes, but the H was shot and was left behind…Cliffy..

Book 3.
the H didn’t die. She goes back to save him with his Seal buddies to find him even more broken and feral, but they do escape safely this time. Then they spend most of the book on the run, and then decide to go back for revenge. Lots die, then hea etc…. It was a boring conclusion to an unnecessary trilogy.

This entire story is only 400 pages long. It could’ve been told in 1 book.
The series could’ve been better with more details!
There was no world building or character development in this series, and the ending was too abrupt. This author truly doesn’t bother explaining anything in her story, like what’s knotting during sex, what’s it doing…since I am new to the omega verse genre I found some of the plot confusing.

Nope! The final installment of Feral isn't any better. It's even worse.

There's a lot of nonsensical killings, unnecessary sacrifices, and making Zach (Subject 351) so broken with the drugs that he's mentally beyond repair is the weirdest plot twist...
So, we get a HEA of some sorts, and Zach loves his Lillian very much but their way to get there is very strange. Definitely not my kind of read :(

I can't fathom how a book with such a nice cover (it's the reason I started reading Feral in the first place!) could turn out such a miss for me... :(
Getting back to MM. At least I know what to expect with "my" men ;)

3 stars for this installment

4.25 stars for the series overall!!!

Unfortunately, the last book in the installment was the worst, as I've seen some other people say too. Was the series still worth reading?

IDK why, but I just really enjoyed this series as a whole. It truly did scratch an itch I didn't even know I had been trying to reach.

The spice throughout it was incredibly well written and even though very few words were exchanged between the H and h ( I actually would have enjoyed more ), you could still feel their connection and it was fire!

So why wasn't this last one that particularly great? Well, I had to suspend my belief in science and reality to accept most of the major plot points used to wrap things up and that just wasn't very satisfying.

I love it when all the pieces finally come together at the end of the story! Especially when the stakes are high and a successful HEA seems nearly impossible. Which is how this author had this story set up. Unfortunately, when you have your story set up like this and don't have a mind boggling resolution that makes your reader go, "OMG, that's perfect! I would have never thought of that, but it makes so much sense!" then you have a reader left questioning the logistics of your entire story, not just the ending. All of a sudden, the puzzle pieces seem like they were forced to fit and the overall picture you've created is a mess. The importance of having a believable solution is incredibly high.

One thing that this story could have utilized that it didn't, is that it was set in the Omegaverse....soooooo essentially it didn't have to be limited by the same rules that our universe is. However, the author would have had to craft these new rules and interweave them throughout her story to make them concrete within this reality. It's incredibly difficult, but I've seen it done and I've seen it done beautifully in some other novels that are crafted within their own universe as well. It just requires a ton of imagination and a lot of effort-- that most authors aren't so willing to do these days. And you can tell this author wasn't interested in that either. This author tried to utilize the use of a "vaccine" at one point and the way it was used was just thrown into the story all willy nilly with the expectation that most readers would just brush past it and accept it. BUT it would not have worked. They wouldn't have even been able to craft a vaccine with the materials they had at the time. Not to mention, given the very nature of how vaccines work, it wouldn't have worked in this instance. So this was definitely a bummer. Also, they wouldn't have been able to delete all the records belonging to a highly classified government facility, nor would they have been able to barge in there, get to Zach ( who is basically inhuman at this point ), let him and Lillian have a bow-chicka-wow-wow moment so she can try to remind him of who he is to her, and still make it back up to the previous floor without being intercepted. It's just not going to happen.

Then I also want to touch base on the fact that the story starts out with Lillian showing up at Jerome's house wearing the same clothes she was wearing when she escaped and we're told this is a week later. A week!

How did she get there? She had no money, no means of transportation, no connections...yet she showed up on his doorstep, knowing exactly how to get to this person with this name she only heard once. Yet another thing the reader is just expected to passively accept.

Anyway, I devoured this trilogy at an insatiable pace, so that should speak for itself. I work a full time job, mother two teenagers, and still somehow managed to make it through all three installments between yesterday and before I took my oldest to school this morning.

It just hit the right spot.

Would recommend to anyone that enjoys Omegaverse that is also tolerant of dark themes such as noncon, dubcon, physical violence, captivity etc.

HEA guaranteed even if it was achieved by a stretch of the imagination.

I will never buy from this author again but not because the story wasn’t good.

I don’t like being ripped off and I don’t like false advertising. I bought this book thinking it was the third book in a series. It wasn’t. It was part three of one story. It is being sold in parts at an over priced rate. Buyer Beware!!

Having said that, this one complete story was interesting. It was mildly repetitive in that it kept going around in circles of the same scenarios. Also, the author kept using weird wording like “crackling” with pleasure, or “crackling” with frustration, or “crackling” with stress. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard of anyone “crackling” with any sensation or feeling. It was weird and used a lot.

I would have liked this book had it been sold as one complete book. It wasn’t. Every time it got good it finished. The sex was dragged out way too much and I’m not talking about the forced consent. That didn’t bother me. What did bother me was the pain involved. Yet it was repeatedly described as a climax full of pain but enjoyable. Yeah right. Smh.

This book is left on a cliffhanger for a side character which I hope is Jerome, but I don’t really know. I highly doubt I’ll even look into that spinoff story because this author sells her stories in a serial/chopped up way. Enjoy if all these issues are your thing. Or you like paying too much for things.

Death by sodomy is a new one 💀 lmao

Ok so this trilogy was a quick ride that kept my attention like glue.

I don’t care for the FMC (someone tell me why and who let her order ex-SEALs around) and the MMC was whatever but the smut was nice.

I thought it was interesting how knotting was described as a not pleasurable thing for the recipient and I thoroughly disliked how often this woman’s pussy was described as “gaping” every time they fucked.

But considering how I binged all three books in succession? I will definitely be reading the other books from this author lol.

Heroine becomes an asshole who saves her own skin and lets other women get brutally sexually assaulted in her place... which is what sparked her break out in the first place... but nah, let another girl worry about it.

That’s gross and disgusting of a heroine. Her alpha has more humanity than she does at that point.

And now that it’s the end of the series, it’s clear the purpose of the trilogy was a money ploy because the books are all so short and ended abruptly. This should’ve been in one volume. Really sucks because I think the erotica’s quite good, and the plot had potential.

This book was DARK AF. Beyond dark. It had the whole captivity experimentation thing going on, on top of some true horrors between the MCs and side characters.
I enjoyed most of this series, which was basically one book split into 3 parts. There was a lot of chemistry between characters and a true moral crisis.
I felt like the description of book 1 wasn’t true to the story, but I enjoyed it anyway.
The ending of this book was a bit over the top for my tastes. It felt ugly in a way I wasn’t so ok with. However, I did like how things ended up solely between the MCs.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: SA, forced medical experimentation, captivity, dubcon/noncon from drugging, torture, murder, gore, forced exhibitionism and voyeurism

Wow! Nora Ash! OMEGAVERSE!

WARNING - This book/series contains situations and events that some readers will find extremely confronting. If you're sensitive to Total Power Exchange, explicit sex scenes and gory, violent fight scenes (explicitly detailed) then this series is NOT for you.

This is book three and the final journey for our Alpha/Omega couple Subject 351/Zach and Lillian.
If you love these two as much as I did in the prior two books of this series, you won't be disappointed by this conclusion. This is fast paced & full of new characters that flesh out our Alpha's back story. He's really a good guy wrongly convicted. (I knew that!) We also have a few of the original characters that we just love to hate. They suffer a fitting end I'm pleased say.
Read books one and two so this can tie (pardon the pun) things up nicely for you.
As happy an ending as one could hope for an unlikely Hero.

I rate the entire series 5 stars!

Loved this story. The conclusion was satisfying. I read a review that kind of spoiled the ending, yet I was still unprepared. Glad the doctors for their just deserts. I felt so awful for Zach. And the women who were forced mates, so sad. I wish we knew more about the other women. But I am satisfied at the ending. I guess it was impractical to hope for a full recovery, when what he had was a miracle in itself. Wondering if there is a spin-off with Jerome.

Quick read, it seems the author split up one book into 3 and charges full ebook price for each..
Good story not sure it’s worth $10 to read though..especially with the spelling grammar errors.

After escaping the lab thanks to Zach (351), her mate, Lillian Goes to his old squad to help break him out. She would give anything to save her mate. Only when they get to him it's been weeks and he is completely feral. The drugs the scientist have given him may not be able to be reversed. Not to mention after they free him they now are on the run from the government that wants it's property back.
This book was a big F fest. The best part the ending. The way they payback the scientists was only fitting. And Lillian and Zach get a HEA. Over all not bad listening to to get through the work day.

I voluntarily read this ARC novella in exchange for an honest review.

I love all of Nora Ash's novels. I definitely liked the fact that this was longer than the 1st two installments but in doing so, I felt it lost some of its eroticism. Perhaps since the h and H were trapped together in the 1st two, of course there were more opportunities for the brutal sexuality that took place and the struggle within the heroine to make sense of her feelings for her alpha. However, in a sense because that struggle and tension between Lillian and her Alpha were now gone and exchanged for more of a suspense aspect of the plot where other characters were introduced, it detracted from their love story a bit, but in a minor way.

*Spoilers ahead*

I think I hoped that Barnes would recover more of himself and not be so permanently damaged that the characters could fully reconnect on more equal footing rather than her try to calm him and try to help him return to his less feral self. Also, that Lillian still had to be assured that the man she fell in love with *wasn't* a "bad man" still rankled -- she still felt the mating bond was more instinctual and real and it had to take a secondary character to tell her that what she was feeling wasn't just about the mark. I also found it a bit odd that Lillian bit Barnes towards the end of the novella and he wasn't turned on by it. Perhaps it's because he didn't fully understand what was going on with her quite yet due to the damage done by SilverCorp. Usually any bite from an Omega turns on an Alpha... ;)

The hottest scene for me in the book was the final scene where she's attempting to fix her nest and the sexual aggression in him is rolling off in waves. :)) There's that darkly sexual element I wished there was a bit more of... but at the same time I did appreciate the depth of the story, the sacrifices made, the clear loyalty and love Barnes' brothers had for him, and the potential of a new chapter.

5 Stars for this outstanding conclusion to the Feral Series!

This book held me emotionally captive from start to finish! I really had no clue where the author was going to take us with the final instalment of the Feral Serial. This book could be read in one sitting. It’s a dark twisty read that left me gutted and satisfied at the same time!

No spoilers or details from me on this one. It is a book best experienced one page at a time.

Honestly? The first book was the best.

The author ruined the ending of this book. Hands down. 100%. This was garbage. It got worse with each subsequent book (more like novellas since in total, this series was maybe 400 pages).

Nothing was explained the way it should have been, everything was left vague, this weird "Omegaverse" was left completely ambiguous, the biological instincts were baffling and written as if I should have already known what "knotting" and "nesting" were. I had no idea about the setting. At all. The worldbuilding was honestly shit. There's no explanation as to how the characters were human and yet they had "feral" and "alpha" base sides to them, as if the author wanted them to be werewolves but without the shifting aspect and the concept that women can be "alphas" too and that not all relationships are heterosexual in nature. This rubbed me all wrong, people. As if this was a simple and archaic society, but set in modern times (I think???) and shoved all concepts of LGBTQ+ out the story. Then the term "intergalactic" was used in the first story and like...wtf? Why was this used? Why were they wannabe werewolves? Why did 351 choose to become a part of this research study? Who was in charge of SilverCorp? Why was it so easy to break into a top-secret facility not once, not twice, but 3 freaking times? Where was the money coming from? How did our heroine get to Georgia with no money and dressed like she was coming from a horror movie set up? Why did the author involve the heroine's back story with an abusive stepfather and then put her into a forced mate relationship and not resolve this issue? It all just made NO. SENSE. I WAS CONFUSED THE ENTIRE. TIME. I had hoped that in this book, I would have been given more detail into this world and have my questions answered, but alas, I am entirely disappointed.

The sex in this book and the first two stories seemed like another form of forced consent, and while I am not uncomfortable with reading this type of thing, the pain part and the continued forced sex, didn't sit right with me. It made me feel disgusted with the hero, and it made me despise the heroine because of her continued submission and eventual giving in to the hero with the justification being "he saved me from being raped by 5 Psychopaths and just because he was a good person, I'm going to give him my vagina whenever he wants no matter if I want it or not." She submitted despite her independence (there were several instances of men mocking women's independence in this book and it made me feel disturbed every time, as if all an independent and strong woman with freedom of choice needed was a big alpha male to break her and bend her into a more desirable person...uh..no. I like my dom/sub play, but no. No way). Her submission, which was both forced and eventually, aggravatingly, given willingly, was overall, extremely irritating.

And again with the instalust and instalove and instamate trope. Can't we just have one conversation between the hero and the heroine before they immediately fall in love/lust with each other?! It's all I'm asking.

I had hoped that this book would have been similar to Hold by Claire Kent, but it was so much worse. It wasn't even close.

There were so many unanswered questions and ties left loose and details left vague, that it just made reading this book tedious and a chore.

Would I reread this book? No.
Would I recommend this book? No.
Was I entertained? Sure, but only the first book and the majority of the second book caught my attention, but this book and the ending just made the whole thing not worth my time.

Such a disappointment, my goodreads fiends.

DELICIOUSLY DARK!!!
Title: Torment
Series: Feral
Author: Nora Ash
Designation: Third and Final Book of the Feral Trilogy, Novella(Approximately 120 pages), *NOT a Standalone, NO Cliffhanger #omegaversefiction #hotalphas #erotic #romance #explicitsex #graphicviolence
My Rating: Five Sinfully Sexy Stars*****
*This book is not recommended as a standalone by this reviewer. This is the third and final installment of the Feral Series Trilogy. Books of the series should be read sequentially: Obsession(Book 1), Despair(Book 2), and Despair(Book3).
Wow! I loved, loved, loved Torment! I'll be the first to admit that Omegaverse Fiction is one of my favorite guilty pleasures, and no one does it better than Nora Ash! Without a doubt, Ash pens the most deliciously naughty Omegaverse Fiction EVER, but she truly outdid herself with Torment, the third and final installment of her deliciously dark Feral Trilogy. After the events of Books 1 and 2, I had no idea what to expect, but Ash totally blew me away. She grabbed me in the first chapter and kept me on the edge of my seat with a death-grip on my ereader while my heart fluttered wildly in my chest! Heavens to Betsy, by the time I got to the last page, I was sweating bullets and struggling for my next breath - AGAIN! And I LOVED every single second! No one writes dark, erotic Omegaverse romance quite like Nora Ash. I've been a fan for years and race to purchase every new release and Ash didn't disappoint in Torment. But be forewarned, Omegaverse Fiction is not for the meek of heart! For folks unfamiliar with the term, Omegaverse is a subgenre of fan fiction in which canine-type characteristics are given to human characters, including alpha/beta/omega designations, strong themes of dominance, submission, possession, and usually contains knotting, marking, & biting during sex. Typically, it also includes the strong use of 'soul mates' with the concept of sex or mating as a biological imperative for both males and females. It varies greatly with each author, but I've always found Ash's work in this particular fandom to be fascinating as well as titillating. I guess you can tell I really like Ash's work; now let me tell you why!

Torment is a dark, gritty, graphic, intense, imaginative, riveting, seductive, fast-paced, well-crafted, easy-to-follow erotic romance with strong Omegaverse elements. The narrative is beautifully written with multiple perspectives but the primary points of view are from the two protagonists, bioanalyst and research scientist Lillian Dorne, and Alpha Test Subject 351 aka former Navy Seal Zach Barnes. The dialogue is smart, snappy, gritty, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. But the piece de resistance of every Ash story is her cast of always compelling characters. One of the things I love most about Ash's writing is her ability to create harsh, gruff, growly, possessive, and unapologetically bad to the bone heroes/antiheroes, blessed (or cursed, depending on your perception) with an overabundance of attitude, testosterone, and alpha pheromones, yet still somehow make them sexy, engaging, irresistible, and endearing. Ash's Omegaverse stories are very much character driven, as is most Omegaverse Fiction, meaning the characters are the primary component or what I like to call 'the driving force' of the story. And folks, this may be erotic romance that curls your toes, but it's not fluff. Ash always balances her steamy storylines with lots of action, danger, drama, angst, suspense, conflict, and enough plot twists to keep you guessing. And at the heart of every single book, you'll always find a heartwarming love story, which brings me to the lovely, hardworking research scientist and bioanalyst Lillian Dorne and former Navy Seal Zach Barnes known as Test Subject 351. I was immediately drawn into the story by these two intriguing characters. It's sometimes difficult to get a good grasp on the relationship between characters when the story is divided into multiple books, but the strong connection between kindhearted Lillian and the imprisoned feral test subject alpha was quite obvious from the very the very beginning. The intelligent, ambitious, yet somewhat naive Lillian had no idea what she was getting into when she accepted a position at SilverCorps working for Dr. Simon Axwell, her longtime mentor and idol, as a bioanalyst on a government-sanctioned biodefense project. Dr. Axell not only a respected, world-renowned scientist but also an alpha who'd conquered his primitive urges for the good of mankind - or so she thought. Unfortunately, Lillian was soon to receive a rude awakening about the not so good Dr. Axell and SilverCorp. Sigh... I just love when an unlikely heroine finds her courage and decides to fight for what's right. A very meek Lillian found her voice and once she did, she roared like a lioness to champion the long-suffering hero. In the first two books, we didn't know much about Zach but in the third book, we finally discovered his backstory. But actions always speak louder than words and his proved him to be brave, loyal, caring, protective, and willing to do absolutely anything to protect his new mate Lillian, long before the facts leading to his incarceration were revealed. I loved Lillian and Zach, and their story will capture your heart! I sniffled, sobbed, fumed, and shook my fists in anger throughout the entire book but by the end, I was happy, satisfied and well entertained.

After a failed attempt to rescue one of the imprisoned test subjects, Lillian has become a prisoner herself. She's no longer a research bioanalyst, nor a savior, but a victim of the same heinous experiment as Test Subject 351. Her actions have cost her everything she's worked for, and her worst nightmare has become reality. The thing she vowed would never happen, has happened. She's been claimed by an Alpha, but not just any Alpha... she's been claimed against her will by Test Subject 351. And it seems the malevolent Dr. Axell, the man in charge of the project, has big plans for Lillian. Sadly, the tables have turned. Test Subject 351/Zach Barnes must now find a way to protect and save his new mate Lillian, but at what cost? Will Lillian and Zach find a way to escape and expose the truth of the heartbreaking atrocities perpetrated by the immoral Dr. Axell and SilverCorps? Or will their attempt cost them everything - including their lives? Oh my, the wait is over! We discover the fate of Lillian and Zach, and all our questions are answered in Despair!

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers. It does include violence and explicit sex, some with dubious consent. If you've never read Omegaverse fan fiction, don't knock it till you've tried it! If you enjoy paranormal/fantasy/science fiction romance with elements of BDSM, you'll probably love this story, but these Alphas are not shifters, they're human with an overabundance of testosterone and alpha pheromones. And be forewarned, it's dark, dirty, and hot, hot, hot! The first two books were intense but this installment is the conclusion of Zach and Lillian's story, and Ash really pulled out all the stops with this one. It's darker, more intense, and emotional - ON STEROIDS, and definitely not for the meek of heart. I found myself gasping for breath and screaming, "Nooooo, don't do that!" through the entire story! I really thought I was going to have a heart attack before I could get to the end. And I definitely advise against reading in polite company, it might be a little uncomfortable. Lol... Will I read this author again? OMG! Yes! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

A little disappointing. I did not enjoy all the deaths. I would've preferred more time between the two characters. To be honest- my least favorite in this series. It was missing the 'taken against her will' that I thoroughly enjoy in Nora Ash's books. Fast read and still good. But not on the same calibre as her other books I feel. I will still continue to read her books (if I like the description). Like I said- it's subjective- just my opinion.

Third book in an intense series. And I warn again that some extreme situations happen and may not be okay for sensitive readers. This one is definitely got a lot more twists at throughout. And the end will definitely not be what you expect. The mate bond between the two is intense and what they are willing to do for each other.

********SPOILERS BELOW********

Notable Scenes & Quotes:

Lillian has shown up to his brother in arms house Jerome for help like Zach told her to and she’s been clawing at her bond

Wait Zach is actually dead?! Jerome has to claim her since she lost her bond and will die without it?!

At least Jerome is the nice guy and helping her which is why Zach chose him but still

WAIT HES NOT DEAD HOLY FUCK!!!!!!

Makes me so sad she doesn’t think he would have claimed her if he was in his right mind but from reading his POV you know it’s real

She can feel all the pain he’s going through and that it’s so bad she wants him to die and find peace even if it kills her too

Rescue mission reveals more alphas have mates now and they’re doing the tests to the women like they did on Lillian 🥺

He’s been kept in a dark room covered in so many injuries he can barely see in full light

They’ve trained him that feeling anything other than anger and terror is punished with pain until he’s wishing for death

Holy shit, they upped his dose from .6 to 12 daily, which is why he has little to no humanity left, but she believes he has some still because he kissed her

The fact that his entire team was willing to lose their lives to extract him from the silver corp facility, and that Jerome keeps saying any of us would give our lives for him like he did for us makes me think their dishonorable discharge was bullshit

Wow, the only reason Zach was tried as a war criminal and shot his captain was because he and his squad were refusing to take out an orphanage with a bunch of kids and his captain didn’t care even shooting one of the kids so he killed him and told the rest to never tell anyone about what actually happened so they wouldn’t get screwed by the government as well to hide the truth

His poor hands are so fucked from literally ripping apart the barbed wire to save her that he’s got stiff barley functioning tendons

I’m glad he can tell she’s his mate and is tentatively trusting her

The creek moment of joy and playfulness

He’s slowly remembering more things and recognizes his name tracing the way her mouth moves when saying his name AND HE SPOKE HIS NAME OMG THANK GOD😭

“He didn’t always understand his female, and this whole laughing while crying thing was a new development”-Zach

Damn that side road can ambush Zach IS a super soldier jumping over the entire van tearing the men apart not even needing weapons sheeeeesh

I’m super confused by why tf they would go back to silver corp and why the marines would agree to it there’s got to be some sort of attack planned

They do have a plan BUT THEY CAUGHT THE FUCKING NAVY SEAL ALPHAS TOO NO FUCK😭

They way they can feel each-others emotions through the bond

This doctor is sick. He’s already shot the seals up with the feral stuff and is going to release them on Lillian 😭

THANK GOD THAT WAS PART OF THE PLAN jesus

Oh shit their revenge is nasty epic the docs got what they deserved

They wipe the history of what’s happened there and had to kill all the mates, the woman ask for death

Jerome sacrifices himself after the gate guard recognizes Lillian so that they can finally escape for good

6 months later Zach still has issues with complex sentences but is doing better

They got a cabin in Canada and the guys tease Zach because they can tell Lillian is nesting

LMFAO at Lillian being snappy being in heat and him knowing exactly what she needs

This review is for the trilogy as a whole (I'll be addressing all books, SPOILERS BELOW) :

Personally it's my belief that the three books should have been a single book. Why? because currently they each read like disjointed, half baked stories that end on cliffhangers when they could have been one cohesive novel. While some parts were strong (like the smut) other parts felt more like a trauma bond more than a romance.

Moving on from that.. THIS BOOK NEEDED TRIGGER WARNINGS. This book includes graphic rape scenes as well as abuse and torture. I wasn't expecting that at first and it threw me for a loop since I was anticipating more of a dark romance.

Now for the story, we follow omega lab worker Lillian, a naive and annoyingly idealistic heroine and dogooder. She's there to aid but finds out she's really fascinating the rape and torture of other inmates. After she tries to bust out the alpha experiment 351 and fails, she chooses to stay on as a lab rab and omega mate for the doctor's sick breeding program.

THOUGHTS:

- Lillian annoyed me. Honestly I rolled my eyes any time she was monologuing repetitively to herself and how she handles certain situations. She believes everything she is told and does not question obvious abuse. She feels a bit bad about working with enslaved prisoners but gets over that real quick. When she sees a woman brutally raped her reaction is trying try to help by giving her cloth and then being all "they signed up for this so if they're ok it's fine" and like never thinks about it again. GIRL WHAT?? U just saw a horrible thing and your first instinct was not to run and never look back?? dumb. Then when she's caught, she basically has the chance to go to prison or stay in a test subject and she begs to stay ... knowing what the women there are going through. seriously?? Then all of a sudden she goes all cold hearted and uses another woman's desperation to find 531?? I really did not see her devotion to a guy who treated her badly.

- then we have the romance. I wanted to love 531 / Zach but he kind of comes across as a hollow shell .... like I get it he is drugged up but he barely seems to care about or love Lillian or even think about her aside from in base sexual terms. it was kind of a downer because I wanted to see them bond and a love story to grow ... but all we get is him basically being an animal and slave to his instincts. I get it, she's his mate... but I don't feel any connection aside from that.

- While some of the smut was hot in theory .... he raped her. MULTIPLE times. BIG ICK. SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE IMO. their first few times are NOT consensual and cause her immense pain. look I love crazy smut but REALLY? having a woman be taken against her will screaming in pain, raw from overuse and dealing with an alpha with a dick the size of a Pringles can???? HECKIN' YIKES. not hot.

- Then we have the end of the books and without spoiling too much there's a load of new characters introduced, a bunch of deaths and 531 is WORSE off than he started so the whole thing feels like depression city with a side of Stockholm.

- having the female lead decide to give up the use of her body and embrace being raped because "he needed it" made me roll my eyes so hard.

- maybe I'm just negative but having the whole thing ending on a "she takes care of him like a child" type note did not make the romance land. it just made me kinda depressed because she has to do this or she'll suffer because of the mate bond. ugh.

- lastly, rape as a punishment?? yeah I get it the guys were horrible creeps who deserve to die ... but the heroine inflicting rape on them as punishment didn't sit well with me. just cut their socks off and let them bleed out of something. there was no reason for her to do that IMO

2.5 Stars for this story. Hey, my review might sound familiar from book one and now two, want to know why? Because this book was just more of both, more brutal torture and SA. After helping his mate escape where he gets shot twice and can't escape with her, Zach is tortured so badly and pumped full of so many drugs that he becomes little more than a snarling beast who doesn't even recognize his mate or his ex army buddies when they break into the facility to rescue him. He is tortured so brutally that his whole body is covered in new scars and his mind is compltely fractured 💔 What a surprise when once again, Zach's mate is SA during their final plan to gain feedom and the scientists attempt to have her gang raped again and the author even says that SA is the scientist's weapon of choice, disgusting! There is SO much descriptive on page torture and SA in this story, I had to force myself to continue reading it and it gets old fast. There is so little story development outside of torture and SA and showing the worst of humanity. These books were violent and left me feeling dirty and not in a good way. This is also book three of three and that was done purely for greed, the books are so short that they could have easily been combined into one book. You will definitely need to read something light hearted after this. I don't mind darker reads but this one was gruesome for no reason and it NEVER let up. I kept reading out of morbid hope that the situation would get better for the main characters and they would get a HEA but they did not and I am pissed. After reading all that garbage, the story ends with Zach's mind still fractured to the point where he can barely express five words together verbally and complex thoughts and processes are too difficult for him. As for his mate, she finally goes into heat naturally and then the book ends after their four day sex marathon!!!! WTF, no epilogue of further progress for Zach, no seeing them as parents to some cute pups, what a waste of my time. I will not be reading anything else by this author. I do not recommend this book to anyone and I will not be reading it again.

FERAL-TORMENT - A FIERY PASSIONATE BOND THAT IS POWERFUL & UNCONDITIONAL. Once I began reading I didn't stop until I learned the conclusion of this deeply emotional story. Inside; camaraderie, humor, horrific danger, life-threatening issues, moments that tug your heart, dynamic vivid scene descriptions, Lillian learns Zach's untold secret, sensuous romance, and a most deserved happily ever after.

Lillian has escaped the villainous lab leaving behind Zach (aka #351) her alpha mate. Zach sent her to one of his friends for help. Being away from her mate causes excruciating pain and misery. Lillian is smart, resourceful and determined to free her mate for good. To get to their happy ending requires dangerous challenges and a bit of luck.

ENTHRALLING well-written page-turner. I felt empathy, sorrow, and happiness for the characters. Lillian is fearless, and Zach is definitely a worthy mate. True devotion shines in this story; loved Zach and Lillian together. The author does a fantastic job with the retribution scenes and the epilogue is phenomenal. Relishing this read {of my own volition without any stipulations, I reviewed an advanced copy.} Without any hesitation, I recommend this read.

WOW!!!

This was not what I was expecting from the final installment of the Feral series and I was very happy to be surprised. Approximately 130 pages, it is not a sweet, romantic read with hearts and flowers and if you looking for that, I recommend you steer clear because you won’t find that here - not for the sensitive reader. Also, this book is not a standalone and should be read as the finale to the series in order to be able to enjoy it at the fullest.

The title of this book is extremely relevant to its contents. There is suffering, pain and violence. Time for the “big girl panties” as it is undeniably tormenting. Did I enjoy it? Damn right I did!!

In the beginning of the book, things happen at a very quick pace. I would not say that it is rushed, but events do develop very quickly. However, it could also be the fact that I was so eager to finally get my hands on this book that I may have been reading a bit fast – so sue me, I was excited.

Lillian has escaped but Zach, aka 351, has been shot. She seeks help from the only person left she thinks might be able to assist her. But help her with what exactly, as she turns up at the door covered in dirt and blood, is the question. Her character grows and adjusts as Lillian becomes ruthless in her desire for retribution. I can’t say much more without spoiling the entire story but be ready for the unexpected and prepare to be shocked.

Last thoughts -- having read and loved previous books by this author, I found the contents slightly different to her usual style. That said, it is still, without a doubt, wonderfully wicked as the series comes to a dark and brilliantly brutal conclusion.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
