what the fudge (spoilers)

Overall, I like the storyline and world building that this book has. Now that’s pretty much the only positive thing I had to say about this series so far oh and Arielle she’s adorable. But nothing makes any goddamn sense how is it that Celestia is sleeping for 70% of the book. And we only see the one scene with Sia fighting with the reaper and then we never hear from her again. All of her relationships she takes three steps forward and -10 steps backwards. As soon as we answer one question, there’s all of a sudden 1000 more questions that need to be answered. Her dad is a complete asshole who doesn’t give a damn about her and that makes zero fucking sense to me. Her mom abandoned her for 20 years and shows up being some alpha leader and is shocked when Celestia has no idea what she does or who she’s working for? Then has the nerve to say of course I know about unicorn shifters. I knew many before I gave birth to one and then I continued to research after I had you. Damn well knowing her daughter has NO IDEA about her powers, her race, what her purpose in the world is and she’s been ignoring her when she has all this information. The plot line skips and jumps around and I get some details aren’t important but like there’s just so many unanswered questions and plot holes like what is going on. It was a struggle for me to finish this book I didn’t want to, but I was already committed so I did. I have no idea if I’ll be reading the last book. I’m honestly so goddamn irritated, I haven’t been this irritated over a book in I don’t know how long! Like I don’t write reviews I literally never have written this lengthy of a review before in my life but this book is so frustrating. Like so bad, but had mythological characters that I was interested so I kept reading. It did accomplish pissing me off so bad I was forced to write this goddamn essay. I’m just like what?????? I just need to talk to the author at this point I just can’t.

This second instalment in the Unicorn Blessed Chronicles picks up, right where book 1 left us hanging. Celestia and her guys have now arrived at the real Aslan Academy. For me this revelation was mind blowing, as I hadn't even considered the fact that the school they went to was fake. Well I guess fake isn't really the right word. It's like a pre-school, a place created to test aspiring young hunters and huntresses even more, before they gain access to the revered school. This plot twist was maybe too big, because for me it completely overshadowed the next one; the headmaster is Celestia's father, who she thought to be a gatekeeper. Though, this is clearly a big surprised, it was overshadowed by the extremes they go to to test their students.

It should be cause for celebration that Celestia and her harem of 6 hot guys have all been accepted to the real Aslan Academy, the happiness is somewhat paused when Celestia shows concerning symptoms after being attacked by Darkness. While test results doesn't show anything out of the ordinary, her dreams and constant need to sleep beg to differ. The problem is that Celestia can't remember her dreams when she finally wakes up, so the guys are not sure what to do. When one of her men manages to get some answers from her, he only shares it with 3 others. And just like that Team Misfits gets divided. Adding to this, that Celestia only seem to focus on a few of her guys, I'm surprised tension isn't growing more than it is. Because when 3 of the guys are deliberately left out, I expected them to fight for their place.

At Aslan Academy Team Misfits has to go through 5 trials. These trials are meant to test them all, in various different scenarios. Normally, anyone from a team will only have to go through 2 trials, so when Celestia is chosen for all 5 it looks even more like someone is targeting her. When Sia stops showing up, Arielle is hurt and her dad doesn't seem to care, Celestia is left feeling confused, alone, hurt and just over all worn out. As a Unicorn she needs to have a purpose in order to feel happy, so when she's left feeling like she has none, the Forsaken starts to look more appealing. But even though Celestia can't always see it, she's far from alone. Her harem (Finn, Hunter, Orion, Theo, Caio & Cairus), Arielle and Magnor are doing their best to help keep her in the Light. Now all she needs to do, is survive the last trial and return to her men.

Arille, Celestia's Harpy-Phoenix hybrid familiar, is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters. Whether she's in one of her hybrid forms, or in human form she is fiesty, stubborn, loving, have a mind of her own and she'd walk (or maybe fly is more accurate) through fire for Celestia. So when Yumo started giving more meaning to her BRU-REE sounds, I was thrilled. If it wasn't because I'm starting to feel like the harem relationship seems forced and insincere, I would have rated this book at 5. I'll be the first one to admit I'm still on a unicorn high (seriously, best shifter animal ever) but it's costing 1 star, that the relationships are starting to seem like a one way thing.

Aside from a quick trip outside the Academy grounds with the twins, she seals herself off with one at a time. And unfortunately it's not everyone that gets their turn. In this book Celestia is afraid of not being enough for all 6 hunks. Instead of talking to her men, she seals herself off with one at a time. I don't know whether this is down to Yumo having a hard time squeezing time in for all 6, whilst keeping the plot going, or if it's something else. But Celestia's 1:1 time with 3 of them takes up an awful lot of time, where the others are just kind of forgotten about. On top of that they don't really do anything together (and no, I don't just mean sexy times), which makes it look more like a polyamorous relationship, than a harem.

OMG I loved the first book and book two is just as perhaps even more awesome! After the final test in book one Celestia and her team of mistfits made it into the real academy, however, it’s is so much harder than any of them expected

We get to see Celestias relationships with the guys deepen and grow, we learn more about them and there are so many twists and turns and danger excitement action steam and some beautifully sweet and tender Romance, this is a spellbinding read and I loved it!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Book two in the Unicorn Blessed Chronicles. Okay so I fell in love with Celestia and all of her men in book one so I was dying to get my hands on this one. I was not disappointed. We pick up right where book one ended with them all at New Aslan with her dad as head master. As they are settling in Celestia starts getting weaker and weaker no matter what they do. Add on the training, the stress, and some strange events to make one amazing book that I could not put down. I love the twists and turns this takes while dealing with personal issues, emotional stuff, and so much more. I think I am in love with Unicorns and Alicorns for life! If you are a fan of paranormal reverse harem novels that include Unicorns then you so have to try this book/series. I obviously loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

I’m sorry but there isn’t going to be any spoilers given away for this book except one and that is there is a cliffhanger at the end of this story!
Anyway I do not have the right words to describe this book except to say it’s absolutely amazing!! The goosebumps that I got off and on while reading this story and all the emotions I had is hard to explain.
I thought Celestia 1 was awesome but Celestia 2 is even better! Basically each book I read just keeps getting more awesome than the one before it!
Yumoyori Wilson is a amazing mad story weaving genius! She is definitely in my favorite authors list!
So if you are looking for my advice on this book well it would be get this book but if you haven’t read Celestia 1 then I highly recommend you start there because otherwise you’ll get really confused as to who is who and what is what!
So yes I most definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for a fantastic story to crawl into and get totally lost within its pages!

Review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a honest review
After that first book Celestia 2, was going to be an intriguing book. As Wilson know for leaving readers hanging for something more. She can’t seem to help drop bombshells that you want to know answers to. It signature of her’s that I have come to love. Much of this book was on very different level then I expected given the ending of book one . There was so much intrigue and secrecy that I was hoping whether we going to get answers.
As I thought she couldn't suprise anymore and then she did. SIGH, why can't just them HEA like I imagined in my head.
Celestia 2 was always going to be special since she stole my heart. Plus this time thing did heat up figuratively and literally despite all the secrecy..
I can’t wait for the future stories set in this world. As I totally want more of the side characters I have come to love. Wilson easily could write another ten books set in this world and I would never get enough. Celestia 2 is the sequel you have been waiting for.

This was a good read but slow to start. Thankfully the pace picked up about a third of the way through and then it was excellent. You never know where this story is going. Looking forward to the next book.

Wow

I wasn’t sure about this book when I read in the summary that the fmc was trying to be turned to embrace the forsaken and the guys had to help her stay on the path of light. I don’t like a lot a books that deal with mental health of waging the war of good or dark. I’m more into reading a badass fmc that knows what action means. There’s a ton of back and forth in this book, but when they go through the trials it’s quick and keeps the book moving. I really disliked that she forgave her father so quickly, but he turned out like he did when she was back living with Magnor. I really hope to hear more groveling to her in the future. None of her parents have been parents to her, why would they start now. The fmc needs to keep her walls up. The only ppl she can truly count on are the guys, her sassy familiar and Magnor. I can’t Wait for the next book to come out. I need to know what comes back.

This has got to be one of my favourite book series of all time, and I can't wait for the next installment.
This book as every magical and mystical land animal that I loved as a child, and makes you want to believe all over again.
I love that this is light verses dark, though I have a feeling is not as simple as that. I can't wait to find out what happens next, I have a feeling it is going to be mind blowing

Full of Glitter and Kicking @$$!!!

Celestia believes she is the only Unicorn shifter left because edge has her to meet another and people have no idea what they are capable of.
Now that she and her guys at Aslan Academy it just gets more complicated with the Forsaken! And not to mention an Ancient Fairytale Prophecy could be the key to figuring out exactly who the mystery man of dark intent in her dreams is and what he wants with her!
This is one wild ride you don't want to miss!!! And with that ending you will begging for more!!!
I know I am!!!❤😍❤

I NEED book three!

I need to know what happens next, I love this series, I mean I love everything Avery writes, but with this series, I love all the mythical shifters that are in it. The story has gripped me from the start, this book answers a lot of questions from the first book, but leaves new questions, I can’t wait to learn more about Alpha Pure and Celestia’s mum, and what the heck is up with her dad
Looking forward to the next book

Disjointed

I had my reservations after the 1st book but it was interesting enough if a little infantile. The writing is even more flat and disjointed. The characters again act like immature teenagers instead of adults, and omg all the crying. I don't think I've read a chapter where someone wasn't crying. No one trusts anyone with truths, important things happen and they decide not to tell others even though it needed. It's like 12 year old wrote it. And it falls into the trope of all girls are petty and bad and only 1 in a bunch is ever good and is usually one that is not a threat to her. It doesn't make sense for all the bad students to have been cut in the beginning of the book and then all girls are somehow shallow, plastic and bad. All in all, the story made very little sense and the characters were immature children. I'm going to stop the series as I don't think It will be getting better.

Who the heck forgives a parent for abandoning them for a job with a half conversation. You gave your character an abusive background and just washed it all away with a “sorry” on what planet would that ever happen. The characters act and sound like 14-16 year olds, no maturity to the characters. Even the adult characters act like immature children. The first book the characters had massive flaws but the world building was intriguing enough to give the second book a shot and boy do I regret that decision. I had a full on argument with my tablet at the 15% mark screaming who would accept that excuse and the book got me so worked up I had to quit. I don’t leave bad reviews for most book and I’ve read some bombs, unless you really rub me wrong, congrats!!!

It's... Not great

I read a lot. A lot. I've read some incredibly silly but yet still fun reads that you know make little sense and you don't expect them to. I've read incredibly well built fantasy/paranormal. This book, this series... It didn't meet any levels of what you'd expect in a book. I don't expect a book to win a Pulitzer but in the same sense it should at least make sense. I read the first book, didn't review because I honestly wanted to give it a chance. I scanned through a good portion of the first book but this one... I just couldn't do it. I DNF at 19%. This book needs some alpha readers/ editing where someone asks hard questions. There's SO many plot holes. Set up- yes. This series has a lot of potential but execution no. Spoilers below.

The FMC instantly forgives her father for abandonment. They spent like 2 decades, not completely sure on full amount of time, apart and she instantly forgives him and tells him she likes hamburgers. Her mother also abandoned her but yes that's cool. Apparently the council called her parents to serve and they left her. No surrogate. No guardian of any type. Just a child, under the age of 10, I wanna say 5 or 6 and just left her. Her mentor, doesn't take her in until she almost commits permanent self harm but that means she's "ready" for the training he'd provide. Keep in mind this mentor is her father's friend.

I find it hard to believe that her parents never got to visit. Not once. And she's this rare type of shifter. They provided her no protection?

One of her new classmates/ potential love interest spent most of his life living in the woods. Alone. From early childhood. Somehow has the skill, knowledge etc to an invite to this exclusive school. Yea no. Makes no sense.

How the fmc applied to the school like oops I guess I did that. Checks the mail, didn't notice the GOLD invite? She claims it's all junk mail but she's this awesomely talented person?

The magic words. No. I love that the author tried to create a language but....

The names of the characters are childish. If this were a whimsical style read... Sure. But this has the markers of being a more serious read and I can't get past the names.

They get to school and are now, immediately one step below elites? Oh and the FMC is so weak she keeps sleeping. All the time.

There's just too many inconsistencies. Too many plot holes. I want so badly to finish because I believe the story has promise but until this book has some work, it's just not worth the time.

Celestia Rainbow, the only unicorn shifter on record and Team Misfit have ended up at the true Aslan Academy, School for Hunters and Huntresses run by Headmaster Orlando Rainbow, Celestia's father. They are all a bit shell-shocked and worse for wear after the Forsaken attack at the other Aslan Academy. Celestia's test results show her to not be tainted but something is definitely not quite right with her. Her sleep is interrupted by dreams of a dark man and claims that she is to be his Queen of Darkness helping to completely destroy the universe. She has no memories when she wakens but the dreams are taking effect, making her weaker. Her guys are each searching for ways to help protect her and keep her safe. Time is not on their side. Even though they are battered and bruised Team Misfit must prove that they belong at Aslan Academy. They must submit to five trials, challenges that could strengthen them or break them, possibly even kill them. Whether it's to test her guys as she is their biggest weakness or there's a more devious intent once again it appears Celestia is being targeted. Feeling alone, hurt, confused, and worn down Celestia is more vulnerable to the Darkness than before but Finn, Hunter, Orion, Theo, Caio, and Cairus, as well as Arielle, Sia, Magnor and a few new allies inside and outside the Academy, are determined to keep her in the Light.

Book 2 of the Unicorn Blessed Chronicles continues the entertaining story of Celestia and her men. Everything is heightened this time around. The trials are deadlier. The bonds between Celestia and her guys are deepening, strengthening, getting hotter. The Darkness is closing in. The characters are becoming more real, each gaining more background history, each revealing their inner struggles. It makes most so much more beloved. This is not the case for Orlando Rainbow. His neglect and disinterest in his only daughter are infuriating. I would like to send him out alone to battle a dozen Rhinroy! Magnor won another piece of my heart as Celestia's true father.

This book continues the themes of bullying, uniqueness, pain, and loneliness, finding one's place, surviving, thriving, and loving. Happiness looks different for everyone and strength comes in many forms. This series is a great reminder of just how special and sparkly each one of us naturally is. It ends with a major twist. Not everything is as it seems, again! It just keeps getting better, making me want more and more.

Grr

How can you go from a 5 star first book to this? I am SO disappointed! I really liked the first book, but this book has our MC regressing instead of improving. First off, I feel like Celestia and her guys spent half of this book sleeping. Seriously, every other chapter they were napping or it was night and they were sleeping. We're to believe these are all powerful beings, but that every time they use magic they're down for hours, if not days? I started losing interest as we kept hearing about one or another of them sleeping. The next truly bothersome event is Celestia kissing and embracing the villain. We are supposed to believe she's too weak to even try to fight with anything other than whiney words? Please! Absolutely ridiculous since we know she's trained to fight the forgotten. The last scene with the villain, Odion, just made me lose any respect for Celestia that I had left. Who cares if he looks like Orion? She allows him to kiss her AGAIN, and we're supposed to believe she's just too shocked, or attracted, or whatever it is she's supposedly feeling? I don't know about you, but I would not allow anyone to kiss me, regardless of their looks, especially not when I know my boyfriend/mate is right there watching! No, it can't be excused away because she already did almost exactly the same thing before. Either Celestia is a complete imbecile or she doesn't care enough about her mates to bring forward her physical strength and defend her body against an aggressor. It made me angry. I defended her (mentally) the first time it happened. But a second time is indefensible in my opinion. The guy is a villain. Celestia knows the story about him. For her to even think that maybe he's not so bad is showing she's emotionally weak. I feel sorry for her guys that love her so much when she is so weak that she will allow anyone to grab her, kiss her, and embrace her as soon as she is emotionally tried.
After this book I'm debating whether I want to read on or not. I'll give it one more book. If Celestia keeps acting stupid and weak, or continues to be a traitor to her guys, then I'll call it quits. Seriously disappointing! Grrr

There has never been a more colorful, more animated read than any of Yumo's work. And Celestia's Book 2 is not an exception. Just look at her book covers-what you all see is what you get. Now, one might presume that since it looks playful, that the general atmosphere of the book is like a world ripped out of from an anime series, that this series is light and fluff. That's another perplexing thought because the truth is this author's works are well-known for the diversity, the complicated themes and tear-jerking issues.

I personally applaud Yumo for addressing bullying almost to each and every one of her works. Bullying is dispiriting. And it's making my heart warm how rewarding her reads are. How the ostracized and the helpless people are eventually creating amazing lives. How they finally belong to people with same morals and values in life.

The second theme I want to acknowledge are Celestia's parents. Esp Mr. Rainbow-Headmaster whatever tf he is. I don't really get how people create lives they won't want to personally be part of. I just...I'd rather people admit they don't want children for themselves THAN create little ones they won't even take care of or take responsibility of. In my opinion-and excuse my french-they should have a specific place in hell. Wasting lives and letting these children fend for themselves. Istg. I don't care if the dad's busy supposedly making the betterment for everyone else or how the mom has this noble job whatsoever. I don't care. Your sperm, your egg, your child-your responsibility. And maybe because I am not a parent myself so what do I know but to hell with people like them.

Magnor, I freaking respect and love you. Period.

Celestia, she's had enough. I hope she gets what she deserve the next.

The guys. They might have saved Celestia from depression but the girl has equally done the same for them. I'm glad they all have each other.

Yumo is seriously amazing. She need fails to wow me with her books. This time wasn’t different.
Since arriving at the real hunter training center (which she just found out her dad runs) she has been having nightmares. She doesn’t remember them but her guys have noticed her calling for help in her sleep. As soon as she wakes up from one, one of the guys asks her about it and all she can remember is a man with white eyes telling her she’s going to be his queen and singing. It reminds Orion of a story he heard when he was a child about a woman falling in love with two men but ends up marrying the one made of light. Since the other one is made of darkness he can’t get to his love in the light so he goes to her in her dreams. He ends up tormenting her in her dreams until she gives in. That’s all that’s pretty much known about the tale. Durning this time Celestia and her men also have 5 trials they have to complete in order to not fail. The trails are either done in pairs or groups. If the pair that completes the task fail the trail then the whole team fails. Of course Team misfits are grouped together but Celestia is chosen for every trail with one of her guys as a partner. Most other trainees only have to do a max of two trails. When she asks her dad about this he blows her off. She also tells him she doesn’t feel right since coming to the school and her still blows her off. Yes, her dad is a jerk. During the final trail her and Orion are paired together and that’s all I’m going to tell you because I don’t want to give away anything big that happens and boy does it get good.

Once again a great book by Ms Wilson which really gross the readers attention from the start and holds it all the way through!! This book starts off where book 1 finishes and I just love Celestia and how much more confident she is in this book, it is great to see her being herself instead of hiding who and what she is! The relationships developing between her and the 6 guys is advancing and I enjoy how it is developing at different stages depending on the guy and that they are not all at the same stage! It is great to read Celestia, Finn and Theo developed to such a level and they really commit in this book!! However I do want more between Celestia the twins and Hunter but I am sure we have more of that to come! The twins have to be my favourite...they are not shy to display their feelings and they always make Celestia feel better. Not only are the MC great in this book their is skid some fantastic character development for the supporting characters and we really get to see more of a background to Celestia’s parents but there are still so many questions by the end of this book! The only real negative I have is that I still have do many questions and some of the explanations are vague! Another highly recommended RH Novel that is exciting, action packed, sweet and captivating!! Can’t wait to read book 3!!

This series is such a guilty pleasure of mine. I read book 1 PURELY because of how bright the cover was and I LOVED the story so much and I just finished book 2 last night.

Book 2 picks up right after the cliffhanger we were left with. (Minor spoilers from now)

The group of Misfits learning to become Hunters and Huntresses in the new surprise academy and they have become MUCH closer, from instant besties, found family to.... a why choose situation 👀

Now I don't read a great deal of why choose, but since this is quite YA feeling, and the spice is *almost* closed door I will admit it felt a little... well. Found family and Why Choose is a delicate puzzle to put together 😆 ANYWAY, if I let that go a bit, I still really enjoyed the new academy setting with the trials, the mystery on whether Celestia has become tainted after the forsaken attacks and the revelations with BOTH of her parents. Now that we know there are more unicorn shifters around - I can't wait to read more in book 3 once it releases.

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 -

🦄 Academy setting
🦄 Trials
🦄 Unicorns and all kinds of shifters
🦄 Why choose
🦄 Found family
🦄 Easy to read world building
🦄 Upper YA? (If feels YA, but does have some slight spice, so not sure where that fits)

Celestia and all her unicorn glory are back.

Now attending the real Aslan Academy (called new Aslan) with her hot boyfriends she makes an effort to get to know each of her guys better. Mating bonds are created, darkness are closing in and parental problems are just some of the things we encounter in this book.

I liked this book better than the first one BUT Celestia is still to unsure of herself even though she have all these guys doing their best to get her to basically stop nagging (that´s what it feels like she´s doing). It feels really similar to other work by the author.

New characters are introduced that seems like they are fun and loving. I like that she spend time with the guys and that it´s not just action and explaining of things etc.

So yeah it´s similar to other work but the author but if you like these kind of books than this is gold, the MC is insecure, again if you like that kind of book then this is still golden. It´s a lot of laugh out loud moments and I have to say that I loved the ending.

In this book Celestia and Team Misfit have made it into the real Aslan Academy which is under the watchful eye of her father, Orlando Rainbow.

We get to see the depth of the relationships blossoming between Celestia and her guys.
Watch it grow into something meaningful.

Things are definitely a lot harder this go around.
Though Team Misfit had already proven themselves while attending the fake academy, they must compete in the Five Trials.
They must overcome hardships they never thought they would face before, some may even get them killed.

I love how this series deals with everyday issues we all face at some point in society.
Bullying.
Loneliness.
Pain.
Happiness.
It lets us know we are not alone in these feelings and how we can always reach out for help, to lean on others for support.

Everybody is their own unicorn.
You just have to be willing to let all that glitter shine.

I highly recommend this series.
It just gets better and better with each book.

Right in the feels

I thought the first book was amazing and didn't think it could be topped but it this one was even better! It will hit you right in the feels and take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, cried, swooned, cheered, and cried some more. Ms. Wilson has an incredible talent for creating unique but relatable characters and you can't help loving and rooting for them. Although this series is lots of fun and lighthearted most of the time, there is a powerful underlying message about the importance of self worth. Everyone has felt alone, discouraged, or hopeless at some point which is why I think Celestia and her guys are so relatable. They have all suffered from some kind of tragedy or hardship and dealt with feelings of worthlessness. I'm anxiously awaiting book 3 to see Team Misfit kick some butt and banish their demons!

Celestia is a freakin adorable character. Seriously, she is crazy entertaining and I love that she is the epitome of an epic unicorn. All glitter and rainbows and freakin kicka** goodness. Seriously, I just love her. I really liked seeing her relationships build between all of the guys and seeing how they are all helping one another get through a dark past.

There were parts I super irritated about. As in, why is she so dang passive about contacting her parents? She was essentially abandoned by them and just…..ugh. So aggravating. I want to smack her dad upside the head (yes, I know he’s not real). Magnor is a dang hero though.

Sigh. I need to go immediately cuddle up in a unicorn onesie now until the third installment is released!

Go Team Misfits!

No words

I have no words to describe how much this book effected me. Tears, laughter, steamy sexy times, more tears. So much happened in the span of this this book. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series. Oh man, I haven't cried like that while reading a book in quite a while. I think I love Celestia as much as Yumo's other female lead characters. But she's definitely going on me a bit more than Mako, whom is my current spirit animal. Yumo has the best characters, especially her female leads. They all have such heart, heartbreaking struggles that they've had to and are currently going through as well as silly and humorous playful sides. Yumoyori Wilson is a fantastic writer and I love her stories.

I enjoyed reading this. It was nice to see Celestia spend more time with the guys beside Orion and i liked all the twist and turns. I was also glad she told her father off. Her father seems like an asshole at this point. And talking about parents, I don’t get Celestia’s mother. I just have so many question about her mother and hope those will be answered in the next book.

The characters still act younger than their age but it wasn’t as bad as in the first book. Also Celestia personality is inconsistent. One moment she’s acting like a virgin bride and the next moment she’s acting like a sex vixen. I just found it a bit confusing.

Overall I enjoyed the book and only had a few issues with it.
