The obsession stated when she was in high school from a stalker who took it upon themselves to protect this girl… and that meant setting fires or killing anyone they perceived were not good for her.

Changing her identity and moving away from Mobile, for 3 yrs she’s relatively had peace - until the trend starts escalating again. And now it’s escalated to the point of white hot fire - threatening her and everyone and everything she cares about. Will this nightmare ever end?

This book was so good I read it in one day! I couldn't put it down! It was very suspenseful and I had to know the ending - the "who done it?" - so I just kept reading! I think stalkers are one of the most creepy things there are and when you throw in arson, murder and new identities, you really have your hands full! That's all in this new book by Margaret Daley. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat if you're like me. Serena (her changed name) has already moved to a new town to escape a stalker and thinks everything in her past is behind her. She meets her new neighbor, Quinn, who is a firefighter and his big dog, Brutus, who is an arson dog. They both hit it off and seem to be headed towards an early, easy friendship. Suddenly, things begin to happen that lead Serena to think her stalker has found her again. How did he find her? Fires! Arson! Murder! Who is her stalker??!! She doesn't want anyone close to her to be hurt anymore! Quinn wants to stop whoever is doing this!

It's a great read and I highly recommend it! The characters are great and very believable! You'll be rooting for them to find the stalker soon and save the town! I luckily received this book from the author to read but was not required to leave a review. These opinions and thoughts are my own.

Summary: My least favorite Daley read yet. Nothing was hashed out very well, and the whole thing was a pretty big disappointment. Lots of problems with character development and general mystery story basics.

In Detail: Contains spoilers. I will hide them, but you won't really understand what I'm saying unless you read them. Please note that very few things in here may be wrong, but the majority of this should be very right, as I fact checked and I'm planning to read the book a second time to make sure.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Serena, Quinn,

- FIRST PROBLEM: The Murderer/Stalker
At the end of the book, we learn that the stalker and murderer is

I have several problems with this guy. The first being, how could the readers have known (or even guessed or considered) that he was the stalker, when we didn't even know until the middle-end of the story? Not only that, but we didn't meet [him] until close to the middle-end of the story as well, and we only met him once . I'm not joking! One flashback to a time when the female MC heard him and her stepdad arguing, and then we meet him .

And I'll note that Serena also met up with one other random guy (why? It had no play in the story, and honestly it just got me confused). Very easily could we have seen the stalker more, just walking down the street, heading into his house, saying hi to Serena or when Serena and Quinn are on dates.

My last problem with this guy is pretty much one big spoiler, so I'm not going to weed through it and pull out sections. Just gonna hide it all.

- Second Problem: The Romance/Dating Aspect
Serena moves into her house. Quinn lives next door. 10 days later she loves him. Uh, no . I'm as much a fan as anyone else as cute little stories that mean nothing where the MCs fall in love within a day or two. But there's so much more to this story! I read love-in-a-day fluff because it's fluff, not because I want a great mystery.

Yes, they go out on a couple dates, but when he decides Let's also note that the stalker only killed her boyfriends a couple weeks to a month after she'd been dating them. We also really don't see any dating. And then after like 12 days of knowing each other he kisses her. Please.

- THIRD PROBLEM: Serena
Not many problems with this character in and of herself. Except that she admits she sent an innocent guy to prison thinking he was her stalker, and at the end it isn't resolved??? Okay, so when she was assaulted in her home by her stalker, she saw some traits that looked like a guy she knew named Brett Parker. So by the end we know there's an innocent dude in prison, and he's been there for 3 years. And the book just ends, without mention of Brett being released, her apologizing, anything!

- FOURTH PROBLEM: Quinn
Quinn's past is a bit more problematic for me. He had a girlfriend named Carol, and also a close friend named Sam. He mentions that both he and Carol had agreed to save themselves for marriage. And then he tells Serena that one day Carol wanted to get married immediately, because she was pregnant. He, of course, breaks it off since the kid isn't his. Well, Sam marries her and turns out the kid is Sam's. Quinn leaves the city to get away from them, and has just recently come back. Like, as in within days of Serena's arrival. And now Quinn has trust problems.

First issue I have with this: at the end of the book, it says that Quinn forgave them. Did he tell them that? Did he not tell them? Did Sam and Carol ever apologize?

Second issue: I didn't see a single time when Quinn was with Serena that he had any trust problems with her. Um, hello, where did those go? Just because a gorgeous woman falls in love with you within days doesn't mean all your problems disappear!

Third issue: Whatever happened to Carol saving herself for marriage? Yes I understand it happens that people want to and get too caught up, but where the heck did Sam come from? I would've liked a little more depth into Quinn's past.

- END
Pretty sure that's about it. I may end up editing this later to remove incorrect details or add new things I've found, but if I do, I'll make sure to mark that's it's edited out/in. The summary is at the top. I hope this helps, and I'll try to respond to anybody who replies to this comment! Hopefully this criticism is constructive and helpful to all who read it.

Great Dane meets mini poodle and fluff happens! Brutus is a hardworking arson dog who lets firefighter Quinn hang out with him during their off hours. Suzie's a pint-sized diva and a part-time comfort dog who knows just how to soothe Serena's frazzled nerves. It might be love at first sight for these wonder dogs but their humans are a little harder to train. :-)

There's a deliciously stalkerish vibe to this edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense. Daley knows how to draw out the tension, creating the right balance of chills and thrills sure to keep an avid armchair sleuth turning pages (or in my case, rabidly listening.) Love the way the romance merges with the suspense (and I'm not just talking about the dogs here!) And the bad guy is pure evil (shivers running over my goosebumps!)

This is the second book in Daley's Everyday Heroes series and I love that each book features a canine (or two.) It can easily be read as a standalone. I'm thrilled that this indie pubbed series is available in both paperback and audible formats as well as the usual ebook edition. I listened to the audible version narrated by Kim Niemi who did a great job of bringing this story to life.

A quick read with a solid message of forgiveness. I hope no one will have hard feelings toward me but I am not a dog-lover, except in stories. I enjoy reading about dogs and their attachment to their owners, as well as the close bond that the owners have for them. The dogs in this story are as different as night and day, but both play a vital role. Serena has a miniature poodle and Quinn has a Great Dane. It only takes a day for the two dogs to bond and bring the owners together into a friendly relationship. The school teacher and the firefighter have people in the past that they need to forgive. In her case, she does not know who that person is since her stalker has never been identified. The firefighter knows exactly who he needs to forgive but has struggled with it for years. So these are the main characters but someone else is lurking in the dark and creating a lot of havoc. Can the firefighter figure out who the arsonist is and rescue the teacher before it is too late? Or will he need to be rescued? Things may get complicated before they get better. For some exciting action, romance, and suspense, with a valuable life lesson, I urge you to read this book. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Obsessed is the second book from Margaret Daley's Everyday Heroes series. I believe it is my new favorite by her to date. I loved Serena and Quinn right from the start. They had a lot of chemistry when they were together thanks to Brutus and Susie. There is danger and suspense that kept me interested all the way through. I was surprised with the twists and turns that I could not have predicted.
I give Obsessed five plus stars.
Highly recommended.
I received this book from the authro, but was not required to write a review.
This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Author Margaret Daley has done it again! She has written another sit-on-the-edge of your seat suspense with that just right splash of romance! The story was entertaining with the addition of Susie, the miniature poodle, and Brutus, the Great Dane! Quite the adorable pair but it turns out theirs isn’t the only romance. Serena Remington has changed her identity and moved to a new location hoping she has left her stalker behind, but has she? Firefighter, Quinn Taylor, has returned to his hometown to be closer to help his Granny. Now next-door neighbors, Serena and Quinn strike up a friendship thanks to their two pets. I love books with animals, and this one especially as I have a poodle. I could so relate to Susie’s antics. Things get perilous for Serena and Quinn and the ending is quite a surprise. Be warned that this is a page-turner and hard to put down!

Obsessed ( Everyday Heroes-Book 2 )
By; Margaret Daley
Obsessed is book two by Margaret Daley in Everyday Heroes series. Margaret Daley has penned a wonderful , exciting, suspense romance that will have you trying to read faster to see what is going to happens next. She captured me at the start and I was not disappointed. This is an easy, fast read , and well written story. A Message of forgiveness in Obsessed. There is a stalker, suspense, arson, murder, and romance that will have you on the edge of your seat . I loved the two dogs in this story . They are very different from each other. I caught myself laughing at them all through the story. Serena is a school teacher and Quinn is a handsome firefighter trained with expertise in Arson with his dog who is also trained to help him. This is a fast paced exciting story and I did not want to put it down.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I love books with a hero & his dog.... Serena has had a stalker for years. She was forced to move and take on a new identity three years ago with her small Poodle, Susie.
Serena met her new neighbor when his huge dog dug a hole under her fence.
Quinn just recently moved back to his hometown, continuing his career as a firefighter /Arson investigator. He and his Great Dane, Brutus, are both arson investigators/detectives.

Susie and Brutus, the dogs are truly an odd pair, very determined to stay together.. even tho both have been taken care of so they can't breed....
When house fires start again and Serena’s friends are missing or show up dead, she fears her stalker has found her. Can Quinn and Brutus keep her safe? Will they trust God to show who the stalker has always been? This story is filled with suspense, romance and dogs - Truly a wonderful quick read...

Two sweet romances - one with firefighter Quinn & teacher Serena & the other with Great Dane Brutus & poodle Sally. A story with a lot of tension as having a stalker Serena can’t name or stop leaves her very afraid & vulnerable. Margaret Daley always draws you in to her characters & her story & leaves you with a book you just can’t put down!

A book honoring our firemen!

Another great story by one of my favorite authors. The hero in this story is a fireman and he specializes in arson....his special dog is also trained to aid in the findings of a fire, especially ones started by an arsonist. The story escalates when his neighbor who has a stalker is in trouble....a great read.

A clean romantic suspense with a stalker, fires, and so much more. I enjoyed the fast paced story of how 2 neighbors came together, fell in love, and faced a stalker's murderous attempts. Interesting few facts on how a specially trained service dog can sniff out arsonists, igniting devices, etc. I highly recommend this book with its HEA.

Terrific !

This unbelievably imaginative drama and suspense surrounding a sweet romance between two people who find themselves attracted to one another and in circumstances where their lives are in danger by a stalker was definitely exciting. I loved every minute of this amazing story that keeps unraveling with mystery and suspense.

Serena ran away from a stalker who has now found her. Quinn is an arson investigator (which is repeatedly mentioned) who moved in nextdoor to Serena. Their dogs become friends and Quinn helps protect Serena from her stalker.

I read this to give Daley another chance to see if the characters were deeper. They weren't. The story was interesting but didn't have enough character development.

Great story; excellent writing; and, terrific mystery! If you enjoy suspense, stalker events, and, sweet romance, this book is for you. Firefighters, Arson Specialist and a nice teacher who loves her students, are at the heart of this story. I also loved Susie and Brutus. Thanks for a wonderful read. I liked the fact it is a shorter book that I could finish in an afternoon.

I hated that there was so much religious stuff in this story- it’s not listed in the synopsis. I felt like every few pages, there’d be a prayer, oh lord, say grace, amen, god this or that. Nothing wrong with this, just warn a person. I wouldn’t have picked this up.
Then the romance itself it meh- basically instalove They’re about 28 and 30 years old, not teenagers.

Although the genre is Romantic Suspense, I didn't think it was intense or highly dramatic. It was light entertainment for me. I enjoyed the fact that the everyday hero was a firefighter (because my husband and my sons are volunteer firefighters and everyday heroes, to me).

I preferred this one to the first one.
The mystery was quite good and confusing, I was sure I had the bad guy half way through the book, I was wrong.
A really funny part of this book was when Serena explained her plan, I found it a little out of character but still hilarious.

DNF

Lots of back and forth with H/h and unidentified stalker. Short story but laborious listen. I finally looked at the Goodreads reviews that contained spoilers and was glad I did. It was easy to return as a DNF. 50% was all I was willing to give to this audiobook.
