Aperios

Rate this book
Zach Morris was just an ordinary man, living an ordinary life in the suburbs of Chicago…except for the fact that he could see monsters.

They don’t come to him in dreams or nightmares. They work in his office, they take tolls on the turnpike, they live next door. They are Mythiks. They’ve always been among us; elves, dwarves, hobbits and all the rest of the creatures from the fantasy novels and movies we thought were nothing more than the creations of our imaginations, but they’re as real as we are. Most of us can't see them, but there are some humans, known as the Aperios, who can pierce the Mythik's outer façade, and see them for what they really are. But being an Aperios is perilous, torn between humans who want to ferret out those living among us and the Mythiks who want to remain hidden. Zach Morris had a secret but now he’s running for his life as the world of the Mythiks collides with our own and the future of the human race hangs in the balance.

I live in the Pittsburgh area, enduring the seemingly endless winters, and the sometimes brutally hot summers.

If I'm not writing...which is almost never, I love hiking and movies.

Best Place to Read and Write: The Park

Favorite Movie: Avatar (When I saw that movie the first time, it lit something inside me and I came home and started seriously writing for the first time.)

Oh My God, hold onto your hats with this one because its going to take you on a wild ride! Aperios takes you into an entirely different world where creatures of legend and myth are very much real and, until recently, had been living side by side with humans for centuries. They had been there since the dawn of time. But humans, society in general, cannot handle what they don't truly comprehend. They fear the unknown. It creates a sort of anger, distrust, and ultimate sort of hate for being "other" than them, or what is perceived as "not natural". And because of that, they have forged a Body of Government to "deal" with these Mythiks. Zach is an Aperios. He can see what normal Humans can't. He can see the Mythiks. The BMA (the government body created to control the mythiks) wants him to work for them. So they devise a way that they believe will convince him. However, it only spurs his hatred and distrust of the BMA, and he goes on the run, leaving everything and everyone he knows behind. I seriously cannot wait for book 2! This book is so well written and has a powerful setting and tone to it. Anyone who reads this book will love it. This book will open your mind and make you think, not only about the story itself, but about the characters and how they're driven to act in their circumstances. It will make you ask questions like if this were me, what would I do? If this were my situation? Such an amazing book. I'll be waiting for the second book.
