Max and Mandy are stranded miles from camp. Their vehicle has been burned, along with most of their gear. The road ahead means danger and the unknown.
Dan and Olivia are holed up in a suburban home. She's gravely injured, and Dan waits anxiously for the soldiers to return. Will he alone be able to defend the house?
Georgia and the rest realize that Max and Mandy might not be returning. After the last attack, they know they have to step up their defenses. But will they be enough to keep them alive?
Defending Camp is book 7 of The EMP, a post-apocalyptic survival thriller series. It deals with real people fighting for their survival every inch of the way.
Still loving this series. Continues to focus on Mandy, Max, his brother John, Cynthia, Georgia, her two kids James and Sadie. Max has been talking to a boy Dan and wants to attempt a rescue. He and Mandy head out and chaos ensues. Those left at camp in the forest are attacked several times by hordes of crazy people. The young boy Dan attempts to make it to Max on his own. He is captured by the militia but escapes with help of another prisoner Olivia. They meet Rob who helps them get to Max's camp. Max and Mandy had just returned home in a failed attempt to rescue Dan and the group is fighting for their lives against the horde. Dan and co jump in to help and Rob sacrifices himself for the group. We also so glimpse into individuals in the militia - Art, Janet, but their stories don't end well. the above is a review of both 6 and 7 combined.

The last book was just one fight after the other that I skimmed through. The last fight with the mob went on and on...And on. And Max is still limping. AND WHAT CAUSED THE EMP? What if Kor and Sarge? Good grief...what kind of ending was that? I read 7 books for this? CLOVERFIELD!!!! WRITE ANOTHER BOOK TO EXPLAIN WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON. I KNOW I SHOULD BEWARE OF GETTING WHAT I ASK FOR. Just saying...
Book 7 "Getting Home" of the post-apocalyptic EMP survival thriller THE EMP series continues the story of family and friends, adding new characters, troubles, and losses to survive one more day just to be able to live. I hope you enjoy this book and this series as much as I am.
Wow, the brutality that comes from the fear for survival can be plain evil, mindless, and sickening. A mindless mob with no rationality of what they were doing brought them to their death. I almost thought I was reading about zombies. I think its hard for me to imagine anyone wondering through the country for miles in a mindless state with nothing but anger and killing on their mind. It was like they were possessed or brainwashed. At what point do humans realize they have to rebuild for the good? The story is good and the reality of it actually happening in the real world is frightening. Every page was thrilling, yet shockingly horrifying.
I look forward to reading the next book to see how Dan and Olivia fit in to the group. Max and Mandy may even start making babies.
I believe this is the last book, just not sure. Continuing story , with characters we've come to admire. This book continues story of Max & Mandy, his brother John, sharp-tongue-Cynthia, Georgia and her two kids, and also introduces a few new Survivalist/ good guys into the story. Several "mindless / violent" mob scenes in this one, and those were pretty rough (for me)., but I read 'em. However, the title doesn't really describe this last book -- there was no "Getting Home..." I actually think there will be another book, and would read it. Would say that readers would appreciate a little more "hope" and seeing Max, Mandy and crew find a "home," finally.
RW. had. penned the seventh novel in the SYFY. series EM P -7. The group managed to fight they numerous attacks until one man informs them that the mob is coming. They arrive and each member is armed to the teeth. The fight begins and they are joined by two more and successfully fight off a dangerous mob of starving men and women who are angry and taking it out on everyone they encounter. This is an excellent read for the closing novel in a series for the genre.....DEHS
Book seven is short like the others in this series but still keeping a good level of story telling. New characters are introduced as supporting cast to the main characters at the book started with however the pace of the storytelling in the flow of excitement keeps the story reading with high anticipation. The series is fun, kind of scary, kind of spooky but overall very entertaining! At the time of reading this there's only eight books in the series but I'm hoping it continues as so far each book has been enjoyable.
Ok, here's the deal. How come these people haven't gathered up water to wash up with or to go to the creek and wash out their clothes? Still no military or government? Come on now. Surely, there are groups that have come together to survive by building a community. I mean, I can't believe that everybody just has decided to wander around killing everyone they come in contact with. Also, where has this group gotten these weapons and all of this ammunition from? The story is a good idea, but it's like some details are left out.
I was quite disappointed with this volume and am hoping that the characters are not going to be allowed to end with so many unresolved issues. I guess I was hoping they'd actually "get home" and perhaps start a thriving community at the old farmhouse or at the Kentucky property they found the deed to in an earlier volume. Please don't let this be the end for our intrepid band of survivors.
This is a very good story. The entire series is excellent. The only reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is because all of the books -- but most especially this one -- are filled with so many errors that they distract from the story. The hundreds (yes, HUNDREDS!) of errors include misspelled words, misused words, missing words, plot errors, grammatical errors, and more. What a shame!
It’s hard to imagine life breaking down to basic necessities. And it’s also very difficult to imagine people killing other people and not feeling any remorse or after thoughts. The book was very interesting but somewhat scary to read given that it actually could happen in our automated society
I keep wondering, what happened to Olivia?? She was in the backseat during the big fight, unharmed. I am sure she didn't get injured. She didn't leave. But now I have not seen her mentioned again. Possibly I was so tired I missed it while reading. Maybe she is in the next book.
It is another gripping chapter where some live while others die. Good mix of action & players with an ending that calls out for new group dynamics in the next chapter.
This is another good one by a very talented wordcrafter. Excellent characters, excellent dramatic action, except for some reflection and introspection bogdowns, the action moves right along keeping my interest. I highly recommend this one to you.
I have just finished this book after reading the series over the past week.Good flowing series focusing on the characters and not getting bogged down on overly macro descriptive chapters to do with EMP’s etc. Hopefuly this will not be the end in the series. Looking forward to reading his new seres
The book was action packed with almost no down time to it. I wish there had been a little more detail about the characters lives and relationships with each other but it was a good fast read. Very enjoyable!
This has been one helluva ride for Max and his crew. Sheer grit and determination will set the strong apart from the weak. If, you like realistic action and characters. Sink your meat hooks into these books. You will not be disappointed.
I have just completed 5 books in this series. As I finished one, I would order the next because I needed to find out how Max fared. I liked all the characters! They were all believable and I felt like I was part of them. Well done Ryan!!!!
Mobs, militia in the towns and cities. Hordes of frustrated angry people in mobs fighting for food, fighting each other. Those in the camp fighting the hordes charging at them angrily fighting because they don’t know and they are starving. Read on.
I keep reading this series and so far it's been good. The bouncing between different people and their perspectives gets a little much, especially when some of them are only there for 1 chapter. But I'm enjoying it and would recommend.
I've been glued to this series, one book after the other as they are so good! Each book leaves you wondering how much more these poor people will have to handle.
I like the overall story, but they always seem to put themselves in a bad position with their decisions. Max prepares, but only do much, not all the way.
Near impossible rescues and escapes but the heroes stick together and maybe things are beginning to calm down, from starvation and violence of nothing else.
Filled with graphic violence. One character seemed non-essential to the story and just a filler. In one way it tied loose ends together, but gave no hint of a future except for one male and female.
