A Gally se le complica un poco su nueva vida cuando descubre que Ido es un cazarrecompensas (de alguna manera tiene que pagarse los repuestos) y decide serlo ella también. Aunque sea amnésica mantiene intactos sus reflejos y memoria muscular, siendo una gran luchadora. Al tiempo que hace amigos y enemigos, que querrán llevarla a la ciudad del cielo o descuartizarla según el caso, Gally va descubriendo cómo funciona el mundo y cuál será su lugar en ese… o en otro.

That last page is one of the happiest pieces of art i have seen <3
Instead of rewarding Alita for beating Zapan, they execute her for using a gun.
But the Tiphareans save her, and she becomes their angel of death, tasked with bringing to justice the renegade Tipharean doctor Desty nova.
Some of the action panels were not clear as usual, but much less than before i think.
The cute pet turns out to be a spy machine for the Tiphareans.
She takes on a gang that works for Desty nova, and she gets a new friend for some reason, i forgot both the gang's name and her new friends name.
Anyway a fun volume now only 3 left to the end.

"Angel of Death" takes place some time after Alita's revival, as she's on a mission as Zalem's agent. It introduces some new characters, which didn't seem much interesting to me. The story has a 'Western' vibe to it, and shows the readers what lies outside in the wild world.

Continued solid effort, though this was a little bit stranger as compared to the previous issues but that is understandable as even Alita's life changed in this issue so yeah this time around the most of the entire book is set out of scrap yard after all there's no one there for Alita. Now the action is set outside scrapyard and mostly in a desert and a city to boot in desert with skyscrapers was it maybe Dubai? Who knows fun fast and with a unkillable human protagonist who reminds me of Ryu or someone from Street Fighter series of video games. So while the previous issue were high Fours, this is still four but a little on the lower side. Now on to the next one after all I plan on finishing all the issues before going to watch the movie.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

Alita sells her soul to Salem turning herself into the Dark Angel of Death and filling the emptiness left ito her heart with action and violence.
The new storyline starting in this 6th volume is essentially a funny homage/parody of Bronson & Hara famous 80s manga/anime Fist of the North Star (北斗の拳 Hokuto no Ken), sadly

The one where Alita goes crazy.
I know there's been a bit of a timeskip since the last volume, and I know that she always enjoyed battle to some extent at least, but it's still pretty crazy and unsettling to see her grinning like a maniac as she dices up her enemies. It feels like we could've used to see some transition points in between, make it less abrupt.
On the other hand, it's nice to get to see the outside world a bit at long last. And a train journey. I like trains.

Some change of direction plotwise. Not illogical and somewhat needed anyway so I guess it’s all good. Change of scenery too. If you thought the Scrapyard was bad, well, guess again.
Don’t expect more than pure no-brainer violent action but with this kind of expectations your wishes are going to be fulfilled a thousanfold.

Continuing my Alita binge from Comixology. Following her battle with Zapan, Alita is given an offer she can't refuse from a Zalem official - become their agent on the ground. She agrees, mostly for the chance to find Doc Ido, and so the storyline for the first time takes us outside of the Factory and into the desert wastelands, where bandits have been disrupting the supply lines that bring materials to the Factory, and thus the sky-city of Zalem.
Alita makes new friends among a band of mercenaries hired to protect the nuclear-powered train heading to a remote outpost. The train is, of course, ambushed and Alita & co. fight a series of bloody battles against cyborg mercenaries. She also acquires a new love interest, in the form of a hunky but dim-witted warrior who has mastered a cyborg-fighting martial art that makes him able to fight cyborgs despite being pure organic.
Well, he can fight other cyborgs. Alita still kicks his ass, 'natch. This seems to endear them to one another.
This arc seems to be leading us to a new big bad, a cyborg-centaur revolutionary named Den, who wants to bring down Zalem. I will be interested to see where this leads, because from what we've seen so far of Zalem, and how it treats grounddwellers, I am rooting for Den.

Maybe I'm weird, but I do not like the direction Alita's style and story has taken since the previous books. What I appreciate is that I can see how famous anime TV shows from the 90s started to impact the author's drawing style by now. That is certainly interesting and it was nice to examine that (although the sudden changes in style are sometimes pretty inconsistent).
However, I did not like the same course of change for the story. Figure Five is more anime-like. The plot-twist are simpler, the story itself is very straightforward. In fact, it focuses on the action so much, that pages reserved just for explanation are needed. What's more, character motives are unclear and weird. There's a scene when a person kills all people around themselves just to get the opportunity to kill Alita... which they actually had nonetheless.
Simultaneously, the change to Alita's character itself is weird. I understand there's a lot of time between Volume 5 and 6. But still, Alita became a blood-hazed killer with only little interest in actual life. She's been through a lot so it actually makes sense. But... the author does not give you any clues about her psychological struggle. In fact, you only see how Alita recovers. And that's... well, to me it's not very satisfying.
But what bothers me the most is the absence of the villain. Volume 5 presents Desty Nova. It is almost like a prelude to what is actually going on about Salem, berserker, Alita, Ido and Nova. But then, the story focuses on Mad-Max-postapocalyptic-desert people and their unreasonably long fight with an unimportant enemy (Alita). And when Nova finally returns to the scene... it's out of nowhere. It's like going from point A to point omega and then to point C. Which is a shame because the beginning of this one seemed really promising.

This is a good entry point if you don't want to start from the beginning. Most of the characters in it are new. Alita is executed for using a handgun to defeat Zapan in the previous volume, and only a stop order from Tiphares prevents it, after she is already so badly damaged that her teeth are nowhere near her face. She is then told she must agree with orders from Tiphares or her brain will die in less than two hours. She is trying to get back to Ido, now working as an assistant to Desty Nova after the latter revived him as a cyborg, and Desty Nova is the one they want Alita to hunt down. Tiphares is not prepared for Alita's attachment to the surface world, which Tiphares treats as worthless even though it is the source of all their necessities.
I don't know why Alita looks black on the cover. Her skin is unshaded in the interior. Race is a complicated and bizarre issue in manga, and that cover makes it more so. Esdoc and Shumira appear to be black, and that's a bit insulting to black people.
This book is very different from the others in that we go out to the country beyond the Scrapyard, on a train, in the desert, and finally to a city. The conflicts continue to be more complex than just the frequency and graphic nature of the fight scenes.
The volume is a change of pace, and Alita's morals and philosophy shine through, though her fear of evil eye butterflies transferred from the author (who states this in a footnote) makes for a somewhat ludicrous plot twist.

The beginning of this installment in the series was so dark and promised so much as Alita is forced to make a deal with the people who live in the floating city above the scrapyard so she can see Ido again and avenge the people who brought about his death. It made for the kid of sequel from the previous installment that made me excited to continue reading. But then new characters were introduced that had nothing to do with that story line, and were added for the sake that Alita could feel connected to someone while she went on her search and give the readers the action that they had come to expect from this series. It will still fun, but it seemed more like a reboot of the story from this part instead of a continuation of the story I had been following. The drawings are still amazing and I still flip through the story wondering what will happen next, but I hope Yukito Kishiro can bring this storyline together with the previous to make this a more comprehensive story that what it is turning into.

It's not like I was expecting Shakespeare, but this story is kinda disappointing me. As a work of the 90's, I can see why people loved it. The visuals are unlike what many had probably seen at the time and the violence is at an ultra level. But I was just expecting more narrative filling out of this episodic manga classic.

Δεν έχω αυταπάτες με το Battle Angel Alita. Είναι σκληρό, βίαιο, σου δίνει γροθιές στο στομάχι με τον mangaka να μη πιστεύει πως οι βασικοί ήρωες πρέπει να απολαμβάνουν μιας κάποιας συγγραφικής προστασίας. Δεν περιμένω στο τέλος το φινάλε των παραμυθιών. Τα δεδομένα αυτά όμως δεν με έχουν κάνει να μετανιώσω που το ξεκίνησα αφού
α) έτσι γνώρισα το είδος του manga,
β) συνειδητοποίησα τη δύσκολη δουλειά των mangaka και
γ) μετά από πολύ καιρό έπιασα τον εαυτό μου να ενδιαφέρεται για μια δυστοπική ιστορία.
Με αυτές λοιπόν τις σκέψεις έπιασα στα χέρια μου τον έκτο τόμο που από το εξώφυλλο κιόλας μου δημιούργησε άγχος για αυτά που έκρυβε στις σελίδες του. Πώς να μη νιώσω έτσι όταν ο τίτλος είναι Angel of Death;;; Δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που ο Kishiro αποκαλεί την πρωταγωνίστρια του άγγελο συνοδεύοντας τη λέξη με κάποια άλλη που:
α) έχει αρνητικό περιεχόμενο
β) προβληματίζει.
Στον τρίτο τόμο την είχε αποκαλέσει Killing Angel, στον τέταρτο Angel of Victory ενώ στον πέμπτο Angel of Redemption. Τίτλοι που της ταίριαζαν απόλυτα. Όσο κι αν του αρέσει να μοιράζει εγκεφαλικά προσφέρει στο κοινό του μια ιστορία που δικαιολογεί τους τίτλους. Δεν κοροϊδεύει και δεν παραπλανά. Στον έκτο όμως τόμο γίνεται ακόμα πιο σκληρός αφού τη συνδέει άμεσα με τον θάνατο. Δεν αφήνει κανένα περιθώριο ελπίδας στον αναγνώστη πως η βία και οι θάνατοι θα μειωθούν. Το αντίθετο. Αποκαλώντας την Αλίτα «Άγγελο θανάτου» με τον τρόπο του προειδοποιεί το κοινό πως εδώ αναλαμβάνει το ρόλο αυτού που έρχεται για να πάρει τη ζωή. Είχα υποσχεθεί να αφήσω την ιστορία να με οδηγήσει εκεί που θέλει αλλά όσο κι αν το προσπάθησα δεν απέφυγα το σχηματισμό δύο ερωτήσεων στο μυαλό μου:
1. Οι άγγελοι είναι υπηρέτες του Θεού και αγγελιοφόροι των επιθυμιών του. Αυτός ο άγγελος που όποιον συναντά θα είναι για να του πάρει τη ζωή έχει κάποιον τέτοιο Θεό τον οποίο υπηρετεί και ποιος είναι αυτός;;
2. Ο άγγελος θανάτου θα παίρνει τη ζωή των κακών στη δυστοπία ή κανείς δεν είναι ασφαλής μαζί του και όλοι απλώς παρακαλούν να μη γίνουν στόχος του;;
Δεν επέτρεψα στον εαυτό μου να το σκεφτεί περισσότερο. Ενημερώθηκα πως ο τόμος αποτελείται από έξι κεφάλαια πήρα μια βαθιά αναπνοή και τον ξεκίνησα.
Από τα έξι αυτά κεφάλαια τρία μου άρεσαν. Τα υπόλοιπα τα βρήκα αδιάφορα. Δεν είναι κακογραμμένα απλώς η ιστορία τους δεν με τράβηξε. Για αυτό και έδωσα τρία αστέρια στον τόμο. Αν πρέπει να κάνω ένα γενικό σχόλιο θα πω πως αυτό που ουσιαστικά επιχειρεί να κάνει ο Kishiro εδώ είναι μια επανεκκίνηση της ιστορίας. Τοποθετεί την Αλίτα σε παρόμοια θέση με αυτή στον πρώτο τόμο αλλάζοντας όμως τις συνθήκες γύρω της. Η ιστορία γίνεται ακόμα πιο βίαιη και σκληρή ενώ η Αλίτα εμφανίζει ένα νέο πρόσωπο. Ως αναγνώστης προσπαθείς να την καταλάβεις ελπίζοντας η παλιά Αλίτα να μην έχει χαθεί εντελώς.
Πιο αναλυτικά τώρα τα κεφάλαια του έκτου τόμου είναι:
1. Beyond the yellow door. Journey 1. Judgment Day (⅘): Η Αλίτα μετά τη σύγκρουση με τον Zapan καταδικάζεται σε θάνατο. Το ευχαριστώ της κοινωνίας αυτής που της ζήτησε να θυσιαστεί για χάρη της είναι ο θάνατος. Και ενώ είμαστε ένα βήμα πριν την εκτέλεση φως λάμπει στο τούνελ στο οποίο βρίσκεται. Ένα φως όμως που δεν είναι αυτό της σωτηρίας. Προέρχεται από την ουτοπία του Tiphares. Αυτός που επικοινωνεί μαζί της της βάζει ένα δίλημμα:
α. Εκτέλεση της ποινής και άρα θάνατος ή
β. Αναίρεση της ποινής και ζωή μέσα όμως σε ένα χρυσό κλουβί.
Αν η Αλίτα επιλέξει τη ζωή θα πρέπει να δουλέψει ως πράκτορας του Tiphares. Θα τους ακούει στο αυτί της μέρα νύχτα και θα κάνει ότι τις λένε. Θα είναι το εργαλείο τους. Πρώτη της αποστολή;; Η σύλληψη και η παράδοση ενός επιστήμονα που δραπέτευσε. Το όνομα αυτού;; Destiny Nova! Όνομα που φέρνει στη μνήμη της ένα αγαπημένο πρόσωπο με την ανάμνηση του να οδηγεί τα βήματα της προς την κίτρινη πόρτα και την επιλογή απάντησης στο δίλημμα που της τέθηκε.
Επιτέλους η ουτοπία μπαίνει πιο ενεργά στην ιστορία! Είναι όμως ουτοπία;; Πολύ λίγα πράγματα ξέρουμε για αυτή. Είναι μια πόλη που στέκεται στον αέρα πάνω από τη Scrapyard. Ελέγχει και παρακολουθεί τα όσα γίνονται στο έδαφος και είναι αυτή που διοικεί. Δεν επιτρέπει σε κανέναν πολίτη να ανέβει σε αυτή φτάνουν όμως στο έδαφος πολίτες που ζουν εκεί. Μέχρι τώρα ο Kishiro δεν μας είχε μεταφέρει στην ουράνια πολιτεία. Είναι η πρώτη φορά που μας δείχνει ένα μέρος της! Μεταφερόμαστε στα γραφεία μιας υπηρεσίας και ερχόμαστε σε επαφή με έναν κάτοικο η δουλειά του οποίου θυμίζει τον Μεγάλο Αδερφό. Αυτό το μάτι που βλέπει τα πάντα. Ο οποίος και αμέσως κάνει εμφανής τις προθέσεις του. Το φανταζόμουν ότι η ουτοπία στηρίζεται στη δυστυχία της δυστοπίας του εδάφους την οποία και θέλει να αυξάνει μέρα τη μέρα. Δεν είμαι καθόλου αισιόδοξη για τις προθέσεις της από την άλλη όμως δεν μπορώ να μη δεχτώ πως κυνηγά και θέλει να εξολοθρεύσει κάποιον που είναι δημόσιος κίνδυνος. Το κεφάλαιο αυτό αύξησε το ενδιαφέρον μου για την ουτοπία. Θέλω να μάθω περισσότερα! Πώς δημιουργήθηκε; Πώς φτάσαμε να υπάρχει μια ουράνια πολιτεία;; Υπάρχουν και άλλες τέτοιες πολιτείες; Πόσο μεγάλο ρόλο έχει παίξει στη μετατροπή του Nova σε δημόσιο κίνδυνο;; Τί συνέβη και αυτός δραπέτευσε;
Η Αλίτα τώρα είναι αυτή που ξέρουμε. Περήφανη, γενναία, δυναμική και εγωίστρια. Αν και εγκλωβισμένη σε αδιέξοδο δε χάνει το θάρρος της. Προτιμά το θάνατο από τη σκλαβιά. Ο αντίπαλος της όμως δεν είναι εύκολος. Με τη μέθοδο του συναισθηματικού εκβιασμού κάνει το δίλημμα μονόδρομο και πατά το κουμπί της επανεκκίνησης. Όπως στον πρώτο τόμο ο Ido βρήκε την Αλίτα διαλυμένη, την πήρε σπίτι του και της έδωσε νέο σώμα και σκοπό έτσι και τώρα στον έκτο τόμο η διαλυμένη Αλίτα βρίσκει πάλι κάποιον να της δώσει νέο σώμα και σκοπό. Μόνο που αυτή τη φορά ο σωτήρας της δε τη βλέπει ως κόρη αλλά σαν μαριονέτα που μπορεί να της κινεί όπως θέλει τα νήματα. Δεν είμαι φαν της επανεκκίνησης αυτής αλλά αν έτσι δούμε ξανά μια συνάντηση ανάμεσα στον Ido και την Αλίτα τότε αξίζει τον κόπο.
2.Angel of Death. Journey 2. Descent (2/5): Και ενώ η ιστορία ξεκίνησε φανταστικά το δεύτερο κεφάλαιο με γείωσε. Ο Kishiro προχωρά σε χρονικό άλμα μεταφέροντας μας αρκετά χρόνια μετά τη συμφωνία Alita - Tiphares. Το ενδιαφέρον κομμάτι εδώ είναι οι πληροφορίες που μας δίνονται για τη Scrapyard. Είναι ουσιαστικά κάτι σαν Μου άρεσε που έμαθα νέες πληροφορίες για το περιβάλλον αλλά η χαρά τελείωσε εκεί. Στις επόμενες σελίδες εμφανίζονται παλιά - Mr. Vector- και νέα πρόσωπα - Figure Four, Yolg, Knucklehead - καθώς και μια καινούρια ιστορία που αφορά μια οργάνωση ληστών με την επωνυμία Barjack που επιτίθεται στα τρένα. Αρχηγός της είναι κάποιος με την ονομασία Den. Απογοητεύθηκα λίγο. Εγώ περίμενα να δω την εκπαίδευση της Αλίτα ως πράκτορα και πώς ακριβώς θα βρει τον Nova για να μεταφερθώ αρκετά χρόνια στο μέλλον με τον Kishiro να μου διηγείται μια ιστορία για κάποιους ληστές! Τα πράγματα καλυτέρεψαν λίγο
α. με την εμφάνιση της Αλίτα. Είναι πιο σέξι με το νέο αυτό σώμα αλλά δεν είναι η Αλίτα του Ido. Μια παγοκολόνα πιο θερμή είναι.
β. με τον εύθυμο χαρακτήρα του Figure Four
γ. με την σκηνή Αλίτα- Figure Four αφού έχουν χημεία. Τον προτιμώ από τον Hugo. Εκείνος ήταν ένα ονειροπόλο παιδί. Αυτός είναι άντρας, προσγειωμένος στην πραγματικότητα.
Από εκεί και πέρα το κεφάλαιο δεν με γοήτευσε. Η βία που υπάρχει προς το τέλος με σκηνές αρκετά σοκαριστικές -έχει μια μανία ο Kishiro να βάζει τους χαρακτήρες του να κόβουν κεφάλια- με τρόμαξε όχι όμως στο βαθμό που το είχε κάνει στον πέμπτο τόμο. Δυστυχώς έχω αρχίσει να τη συνηθίζω. Και αυτό είναι θλιβερό. Η βία δεν πρέπει να αντιμετωπίζεται ως κάτι φυσιολογικό ούτε καν σε ένα τόσο σκληρό περιβάλλον σαν αυτό της Αλίτα.
3.Nuclear Winds. Journey 3. Pride (2,5/5): Καλύτερο κεφάλαιο από το προηγούμενο χωρίς όμως να με κάνει να ενδιαφερθώ ουσιαστικά για την ιστορία. Η Αλίτα μπλέκεται σε μάχη με την οργάνωση Barjack και με τον υπολοχαγό Knucklehead. Όσο δε μου αρέσει η όλη ιστορία με τους ληστές τόσο κρατιέμαι από την ιστορία Αλίτα – Figure Four. Η σχέση βέβαια εξελίσσεται πολύ γρήγορα και περνάμε από τους τσακωμούς, στο ενδιαφέρον και ��την αγάπη μέσα σε λίγες σκηνές. Είναι κάτι που ο Kishiro το έχει ξανακάνει αλλά συνεχίζει να με ενοχλεί. Παρόλα αυτά ο Figure Four ως ανεξάρτητος χαρακτήρας μου αρέσει και χαίρομαι που εμφανίστηκε αφού κάνει την Αλίτα να αντιδράσει και καταφέρνει να φέρει έστω και για λίγο στην επιφάνεια την παλιά Αλίτα. Αυτή που νοιάζεται, αυτή που πιστεύει στους ανθρώπους, αυτή που ενδιαφέρεται, αυτή που επαναστατεί. Όχι μια μηχανή θανάτου. Στο κεφάλαιο αυτό μαθαίνουμε το όνομα της φωνής στο αυτί της Αλίτα, το που δουλεύει καθώς και
4.Hell Beast. Journey 4. Dog Eat Dog (3/5): Η βία, οι μάχες, οι σκοτωμοί, το όλο σκηνικό με τους ληστές και την Αλίτα με άφησαν αδιάφορη. Δε με ενδιαφέρει η βεντέτα του Knucklehead. Ας εμφανίσουν τουλάχιστον τον αρχηγό της οργάνωσης για να προχωρήσει η ιστορία. Γιατί μέχρι τώρα είναι λες και είμαστε σε στάσιμα νερά. Αυτό που όμως κρατώ είναι η εξερεύνηση του ερωτήματος: Τί είναι ελευθερία;;
Τρεις χαρακτήρες δίνουν τη δική τους εκδοχή.
5.The plains of betrayal. Journey 5. Cowardice (3,5): Επιτέλους δίνονται πληροφορίες για τη βασική ιστορία!
6. Raimaker. Journry 6. Freedom Road (3,5/5): Επιτέλους λήγει το όλο θέμα με τη βεντέτα του Knucklehead. Και πολύ κράτησε! Από εκεί και πέρα το κεφάλαιο αυτό σε σύγκριση με τα άλλα είναι πιο ανάλαφρο και ελπιδοφόρο. Θεωρώ σωστή την κίνηση αυτή αφού ως αναγνώστες μετά από τόση βία, αίμα και θάνατο είχαμε ανάγκη από λίγη μαγεία. Ή ένα θαύμα όπως το αποκαλούν στο Tiphares. Γιατί ακόμα και στις δυστοπίες υπάρχουν στιγμές ξεκούρασης, χαράς και έρωτα όπου τα πιο απίθανα πράγματα μπορεί να συμβούν. Το θαύμα βέβαια για μένα δε ήταν η
Το Battle Angel Alita, Volume 06: Angel Of Death είναι ένας μέτριος τόμος. Δεν είναι κακός και δεν είναι τόσο βαρετός όσο ο τρίτος. Η ιστορία του Motorball συνεχίζει να κρατά την πρώτη θέση όσον αφορά την υπόθεση εκείνη που λιγότερο μου άρεσε αλλά σε απόσταση αναπνοής την ακολουθεί πλέον η βεντέτα του Knucklehead. Ευτυχώς στα κεφάλαια που εξελίσσεται υπάρχουν κάποιες άλλες σκηνές που με βοήθησαν να τα ολοκληρώσω. Το πιο σημαντικό θέμα που διατρέχει όλες τις σελίδες, ο Kishiro εξερευνά και που αξίζει να σταθεί ο αναγνώστης είναι αυτό της ελευθερίας. Τί είναι; Πώς προσδιορίζεται;; Και πώς η ιστορία του κάθε χαρακτήρα επηρεάζει τον τρόπο που την αντιμετωπίζει;; Είχε μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον η εξερεύνηση αυτή. Ο Kishiro κάνει πολύ καλή δουλειά στον προβληματισμό του κοινού πάνω στη σημασία εννοιών και σε ηθικά ζητήματα. Ανυπομονώ για τη συνέχεια.
α) έτσι γνώρισα το είδος του manga,
β) συνειδητοποίησα τη δύσκολη δουλειά των mangaka και
γ) μετά από πολύ καιρό έπιασα τον εαυτό μου να ενδιαφέρεται για μια δυστοπική ιστορία.
Με αυτές λοιπόν τις σκέψεις έπιασα στα χέρια μου τον έκτο τόμο που από το εξώφυλλο κιόλας μου δημιούργησε άγχος για αυτά που έκρυβε στις σελίδες του. Πώς να μη νιώσω έτσι όταν ο τίτλος είναι Angel of Death;;; Δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που ο Kishiro αποκαλεί την πρωταγωνίστρια του άγγελο συνοδεύοντας τη λέξη με κάποια άλλη που:
α) έχει αρνητικό περιεχόμενο
β) προβληματίζει.
Στον τρίτο τόμο την είχε αποκαλέσει Killing Angel, στον τέταρτο Angel of Victory ενώ στον πέμπτο Angel of Redemption. Τίτλοι που της ταίριαζαν απόλυτα. Όσο κι αν του αρέσει να μοιράζει εγκεφαλικά προσφέρει στο κοινό του μια ιστορία που δικαιολογεί τους τίτλους. Δεν κοροϊδεύει και δεν παραπλανά. Στον έκτο όμως τόμο γίνεται ακόμα πιο σκληρός αφού τη συνδέει άμεσα με τον θάνατο. Δεν αφήνει κανένα περιθώριο ελπίδας στον αναγνώστη πως η βία και οι θάνατοι θα μειωθούν. Το αντίθετο. Αποκαλώντας την Αλίτα «Άγγελο θανάτου» με τον τρόπο του προειδοποιεί το κοινό πως εδώ αναλαμβάνει το ρόλο αυτού που έρχεται για να πάρει τη ζωή. Είχα υποσχεθεί να αφήσω την ιστορία να με οδηγήσει εκεί που θέλει αλλά όσο κι αν το προσπάθησα δεν απέφυγα το σχηματισμό δύο ερωτήσεων στο μυαλό μου:
1. Οι άγγελοι είναι υπηρέτες του Θεού και αγγελιοφόροι των επιθυμιών του. Αυτός ο άγγελος που όποιον συναντά θα είναι για να του πάρει τη ζωή έχει κάποιον τέτοιο Θεό τον οποίο υπηρετεί και ποιος είναι αυτός;;
2. Ο άγγελος θανάτου θα παίρνει τη ζωή των κακών στη δυστοπία ή κανείς δεν είναι ασφαλής μαζί του και όλοι απλώς παρακαλούν να μη γίνουν στόχος του;;
Δεν επέτρεψα στον εαυτό μου να το σκεφτεί περισσότερο. Ενημερώθηκα πως ο τόμος αποτελείται από έξι κεφάλαια πήρα μια βαθιά αναπνοή και τον ξεκίνησα.
Από τα έξι αυτά κεφάλαια τρία μου άρεσαν. Τα υπόλοιπα τα βρήκα αδιάφορα. Δεν είναι κακογραμμένα απλώς η ιστορία τους δεν με τράβηξε. Για αυτό και έδωσα τρία αστέρια στον τόμο. Αν πρέπει να κάνω ένα γενικό σχόλιο θα πω πως αυτό που ουσιαστικά επιχειρεί να κάνει ο Kishiro εδώ είναι μια επανεκκίνηση της ιστορίας. Τοποθετεί την Αλίτα σε παρόμοια θέση με αυτή στον πρώτο τόμο αλλάζοντας όμως τις συνθήκες γύρω της. Η ιστορία γίνεται ακόμα πιο βίαιη και σκληρή ενώ η Αλίτα εμφανίζει ένα νέο πρόσωπο. Ως αναγνώστης προσπαθείς να την καταλάβεις ελπίζοντας η παλιά Αλίτα να μην έχει χαθεί εντελώς.
Πιο αναλυτικά τώρα τα κεφάλαια του έκτου τόμου είναι:
1. Beyond the yellow door. Journey 1. Judgment Day (⅘): Η Αλίτα μετά τη σύγκρουση με τον Zapan καταδικάζεται σε θάνατο. Το ευχαριστώ της κοινωνίας αυτής που της ζήτησε να θυσιαστεί για χάρη της είναι ο θάνατος. Και ενώ είμαστε ένα βήμα πριν την εκτέλεση φως λάμπει στο τούνελ στο οποίο βρίσκεται. Ένα φως όμως που δεν είναι αυτό της σωτηρίας. Προέρχεται από την ουτοπία του Tiphares. Αυτός που επικοινωνεί μαζί της της βάζει ένα δίλημμα:
α. Εκτέλεση της ποινής και άρα θάνατος ή
β. Αναίρεση της ποινής και ζωή μέσα όμως σε ένα χρυσό κλουβί.
Αν η Αλίτα επιλέξει τη ζωή θα πρέπει να δουλέψει ως πράκτορας του Tiphares. Θα τους ακούει στο αυτί της μέρα νύχτα και θα κάνει ότι τις λένε. Θα είναι το εργαλείο τους. Πρώτη της αποστολή;; Η σύλληψη και η παράδοση ενός επιστήμονα που δραπέτευσε. Το όνομα αυτού;; Destiny Nova! Όνομα που φέρνει στη μνήμη της ένα αγαπημένο πρόσωπο με την ανάμνηση του να οδηγεί τα βήματα της προς την κίτρινη πόρτα και την επιλογή απάντησης στο δίλημμα που της τέθηκε.
Επιτέλους η ουτοπία μπαίνει πιο ενεργά στην ιστορία! Είναι όμως ουτοπία;; Πολύ λίγα πράγματα ξέρουμε για αυτή. Είναι μια πόλη που στέκεται στον αέρα πάνω από τη Scrapyard. Ελέγχει και παρακολουθεί τα όσα γίνονται στο έδαφος και είναι αυτή που διοικεί. Δεν επιτρέπει σε κανέναν πολίτη να ανέβει σε αυτή φτάνουν όμως στο έδαφος πολίτες που ζουν εκεί. Μέχρι τώρα ο Kishiro δεν μας είχε μεταφέρει στην ουράνια πολιτεία. Είναι η πρώτη φορά που μας δείχνει ένα μέρος της! Μεταφερόμαστε στα γραφεία μιας υπηρεσίας και ερχόμαστε σε επαφή με έναν κάτοικο η δουλειά του οποίου θυμίζει τον Μεγάλο Αδερφό. Αυτό το μάτι που βλέπει τα πάντα. Ο οποίος και αμέσως κάνει εμφανής τις προθέσεις του. Το φανταζόμουν ότι η ουτοπία στηρίζεται στη δυστυχία της δυστοπίας του εδάφους την οποία και θέλει να αυξάνει μέρα τη μέρα. Δεν είμαι καθόλου αισιόδοξη για τις προθέσεις της από την άλλη όμως δεν μπορώ να μη δεχτώ πως κυνηγά και θέλει να εξολοθρεύσει κάποιον που είναι δημόσιος κίνδυνος. Το κεφάλαιο αυτό αύξησε το ενδιαφέρον μου για την ουτοπία. Θέλω να μάθω περισσότερα! Πώς δημιουργήθηκε; Πώς φτάσαμε να υπάρχει μια ουράνια πολιτεία;; Υπάρχουν και άλλες τέτοιες πολιτείες; Πόσο μεγάλο ρόλο έχει παίξει στη μετατροπή του Nova σε δημόσιο κίνδυνο;; Τί συνέβη και αυτός δραπέτευσε;
Η Αλίτα τώρα είναι αυτή που ξέρουμε. Περήφανη, γενναία, δυναμική και εγωίστρια. Αν και εγκλωβισμένη σε αδιέξοδο δε χάνει το θάρρος της. Προτιμά το θάνατο από τη σκλαβιά. Ο αντίπαλος της όμως δεν είναι εύκολος. Με τη μέθοδο του συναισθηματικού εκβιασμού κάνει το δίλημμα μονόδρομο και πατά το κουμπί της επανεκκίνησης. Όπως στον πρώτο τόμο ο Ido βρήκε την Αλίτα διαλυμένη, την πήρε σπίτι του και της έδωσε νέο σώμα και σκοπό έτσι και τώρα στον έκτο τόμο η διαλυμένη Αλίτα βρίσκει πάλι κάποιον να της δώσει νέο σώμα και σκοπό. Μόνο που αυτή τη φορά ο σωτήρας της δε τη βλέπει ως κόρη αλλά σαν μαριονέτα που μπορεί να της κινεί όπως θέλει τα νήματα. Δεν είμαι φαν της επανεκκίνησης αυτής αλλά αν έτσι δούμε ξανά μια συνάντηση ανάμεσα στον Ido και την Αλίτα τότε αξίζει τον κόπο.
2.Angel of Death. Journey 2. Descent (2/5): Και ενώ η ιστορία ξεκίνησε φανταστικά το δεύτερο κεφάλαιο με γείωσε. Ο Kishiro προχωρά σε χρονικό άλμα μεταφέροντας μας αρκετά χρόνια μετά τη συμφωνία Alita - Tiphares. Το ενδιαφέρον κομμάτι εδώ είναι οι πληροφορίες που μας δίνονται για τη Scrapyard. Είναι ουσιαστικά κάτι σαν Μου άρεσε που έμαθα νέες πληροφορίες για το περιβάλλον αλλά η χαρά τελείωσε εκεί. Στις επόμενες σελίδες εμφανίζονται παλιά - Mr. Vector- και νέα πρόσωπα - Figure Four, Yolg, Knucklehead - καθώς και μια καινούρια ιστορία που αφορά μια οργάνωση ληστών με την επωνυμία Barjack που επιτίθεται στα τρένα. Αρχηγός της είναι κάποιος με την ονομασία Den. Απογοητεύθηκα λίγο. Εγώ περίμενα να δω την εκπαίδευση της Αλίτα ως πράκτορα και πώς ακριβώς θα βρει τον Nova για να μεταφερθώ αρκετά χρόνια στο μέλλον με τον Kishiro να μου διηγείται μια ιστορία για κάποιους ληστές! Τα πράγματα καλυτέρεψαν λίγο
α. με την εμφάνιση της Αλίτα. Είναι πιο σέξι με το νέο αυτό σώμα αλλά δεν είναι η Αλίτα του Ido. Μια παγοκολόνα πιο θερμή είναι.
β. με τον εύθυμο χαρακτήρα του Figure Four
γ. με την σκηνή Αλίτα- Figure Four αφού έχουν χημεία. Τον προτιμώ από τον Hugo. Εκείνος ήταν ένα ονειροπόλο παιδί. Αυτός είναι άντρας, προσγειωμένος στην πραγματικότητα.
Από εκεί και πέρα το κεφάλαιο δεν με γοήτευσε. Η βία που υπάρχει προς το τέλος με σκηνές αρκετά σοκαριστικές -έχει μια μανία ο Kishiro να βάζει τους χαρακτήρες του να κόβουν κεφάλια- με τρόμαξε όχι όμως στο βαθμό που το είχε κάνει στον πέμπτο τόμο. Alita enters the world of Mad Max, where dudes in battle cars zoom around and kill each other, and Alita falls in love with an all-flesh dunderhead named Figure Four. Lots of flash and boom, but often nonsensical, especially towards the end when Figure Four survives a building toppling on him and there are multiple betrayals and the commie Mad Max car bandits all get blown up incredibly easily. I like the screwhead brigade. For some reason Alita looked extra sexy to me in this volume, for what that’s worth. Maybe I’m just feeling lonely XD

One might ask, is this the same Alita that I've been reading for the past 5 volumes? It's relatively new, and weird and it gets going at the same time. I'm in this rush to read volume 7 in wanting to know what the hell is really going on now.

A new Alita volume brings more action, more character development, a new ally (lover?). The ideas and story and artwork in this series have been excellent from the start and get better with each book. Another great entry. Love this material.

Si bien esta serie me ha sorprendido por la versatilidad del maestro Kishiro y el cambio de géneros de la historia de volumen a volumen; este, el 6to volumen, no me sorprendió tanto.
Tras los eventos del volumen anterior, la situación general de Gally cambia nuevamente. Con una nueva misión y un objetivo, Gally se pierde completamente para sumirse en la oscuridad y sed de sangre de la cual hemos visto algunos chispazos en los volúmenes anteriores. Si bien ya hemos visto peleas tipo shonen, peleas tipo deportes, un poco de historia de amor, etc. Ahora tenemos un acercamiento al combate más táctico, con Gally mostrando más habilidades y artilugios que no habíamos presenciado antes.
Se introducen nuevos personajes de soporte que me gustaron y nuevamente presenciamos algunos giros en la trama.
Lo que más me decepcionó del volumen es que seguimos sin tener respuestas. Ambas interrogantes que más nos han preocupado (el pasado de Gally y la relación de Zalem con el mundo que plantean) siguen sin responderse. Aunque la situación de Gally cambia y aparenta a alinearse un poco a estas interrogantes, me gustaría que la historia se moviera un poco más rápido.
El arte sigue siendo impresionante y los giros de la trama son bastante buenos, algunos personajes que ya conocíamos resurgen y aunque los percibíamos como buenos o malos, probablemente tras este volumen, nuestra opinión sobre ellos cambie un poco.
Este volumen se siente más como transitorio entre lo anterior y el nuevo arco, y aunque eso es algo que no había visto en este manga, es un recurso muy utilizado por los mangakas de manera general.
Me sigue entusiasmando lo que se aproxima para Gally.

Loved this one and it's packed with action western environment! This volume does such a good work at worldbuilding the outer lands of the citadel. I'd like to remark how well can Yukito move the story from one place to another in such few volumes and keep it interesting.
Fogya (is that hungarian?) is some really classy shonen protagonist who i surprisingly find funny and cool.
This volume goes around the classy freedom debate between what it means for the different characters and the actual violence here: Since i started reading this story I've always wondered if they'd ever mention all the senseless killing and Gally insentivity towards her actions (don't think that's the best way to avoid your issues girl)
Anyways,I'm enjoying the sense of increasing maturity on her and the plot not being as predictable as I'd expect from an old manga (this speaks really well of it) the Barjack's goal was not much of a surprise (i also predicted the spy lil guy! R.I.P)

This review covers Volumes 1 to 9.
I decided to dive into the manga after watching Alita: Battle Angel, as the movie’s premise showed a lot of promise. The manga is definitely action-packed, but the art style isn’t really my thing. I wanted to like it, but it feels unpolished, and the pacing and execution just didn’t work for me. I struggled to stay grounded in the story, and a lot of my questions went unanswered. We barely scratch the surface of the world and its characters, and some things just don’t make much sense.
Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be continuing with the series.

Interesting changes in both Alita and what we learn from the setting.

How far would you be willing to go for a person you love? What sacrifices would you be willing to make, and what bargains would you be willing to strike, just for the chance to see that person one more time? That's the theme at the heart of this volume, and man, does it hit hard. After losing damn near everything by the end of volume five, Alita receives word that Ido might still be alive. But whether it's true, or a cruel ploy intended to turn her combat skills into a tool for nefarious ends, it's the only hope she has to cling to. By the end of this volume, one could argue that hope is as terrible a thing, as it is wonderful.
Without spoiling anything, I'll say it's nice to finally see some of the world outside of the Scrapyard. And it's arguable whether things are better or worse, out in the badlands. The scope of the story is really starting to open up here, and I love it. And while there's one new character who rubs me the wrong way at times, I can see why Alita takes a liking to him; they balance one another out to some extent.
But yeah, in a nutshell, volume six has a ton of world-building, some startling character development, and some truly spectacular action sequences. There's not much to dislike, here.

On retrouve de nouveaux personnages dans ce sixième tome.
Je ne parlerai de Yorg, y a rien à en dire.
Quant à Fogia, la première fois que j’ai lu Gunnm, je l’ai détesté – pas autant que Yugo, mais pas loin. À l’éclairage de cette relecture, il passe bien, finalement. Par contre, je ne comprends toujours pas comment Gally a pu s’éprendre de lui.
Autant j’accepte sans problème le lien affectif qui la lie à Ido, même s’il est ambigu, mais ses histoires d’amour avec Fogia ou avec Yugo me passent au-dessus.Je n’ai aucun mal à admettre l’attirance qu’elle a pour eux, mais là, c’est bien plus. Elle tombe amoureuse dès la première rencontre ? Très superficiel tout ça. Et puis ça fait un peu peur aussi, genre légèrement psychopathe.
Ça peut s’expliquer parce qu’elle aurait été une guerrière de Mars, que ses interactions avec les gens ont été nulles jusqu’à ce qu’Ido la récupère. Bref, elle est immature émotionnellement parlant… Et ça se sent.

Это первый том боевого ангела, который меня не впечатлил, хотя визуальная компонента все так же хороша, история Алиты развивается в интересном направлении (ну, после спортивных игрищ мне почти все покажется интересным :D), появляются новые персонажи и сюжетные завихрения. Но при всем этом не оставляет ощущение, что движения нет совершенно, все 200 страниц герои топчутся на одном пятачке, стреляют, попадают в плен, спасаются, бегут и т.д. Будто вся книга – это прелюдия к основному действу (например, встрече с главным антагонистом). А если еще учесть, что боевого ангела практически превратили в оружие без права голоса, то становится совсем грустно.
Плюс показалось, что эмоции тут не на месте. Про Идо упоминается всего пару раз, и в обоих случаях Алита «внезапно» про него вспоминает, хотя раньше сложилось впечатление, что его поиск является ее основной целью. И еще романтическая линия, просто потому что вокруг больше не оказалось кандидатов :j

After what seemed like Alita's destruction in the last volume, she is rebuilt under the employ of scientists of Tiphares.
Basically, in order to be rebuilt, she had to accept being a bounty hunter of sorts for whatever the needs of Tiphares are. It's interesting because you can definitely tell Alita is different after She seems aimless and empty almost. She is definitely in a grieving period, even if she herself doesn't know it.
They assign her to protect a convey train, travelling outside of the scrapyard. This is the first time we have been outside of the city, and to see Yukito Kishiro expanding the world was very interesting. It definitely makes you want to know more about the overall world of Alita, and how it came to be. There are some new characters introduced, but for now they seem a bit one dimensional and almost like caricatures. However, there was some interesting character development towards the end of the volume, which makes me eager to see what vol 7 holds for Alita.
Recommended for fans of the series.
