This is one of my favorites. It's so sweet but also weirdly messed up! I just wish it was longer, and that James kept being a tad more messed up than he was by the end.
This story is about James and Cerys. James is a rich, handsome, silver fox businessman. He looks like perfect dating material on paper... but he has some major personality problems. He gets bored of his romantic conquests as soon as they have sex. However, he's learned a way around it. He's decided to make it into a game of stalking his next target, obsessing over them and learning everything that makes them tick, and then "becoming" that perfect prince charming for them, seducing them. After the women fall in love with him, he uses them up and moves on, fixating on his next target to prey on. His thought process was fascinating, and I loved seeing his weird, crazy animalistic and obsessive thoughts. James' next target for his game is our heroine's nasty (but typical blonde sexy bombshell) future stepmother. He's been fantasizing about her and has all these plans about how he's going to seduce her. And while he's acting like a total creep, he is horrified to find out that a little boy is laughing at him and watching him with amusement. When he decides to eliminate this person who has seen his creepy behavior, he's struck by lightning to see an adorable, young, quirky girl. This is Cerys, our heroine. Cerys warns James in a good natured way that the woman he's stalking "is kind of a psycho" despite how she looks, and calls him a stalker creep, going off on her merry way. James is immediately smitten, despite Cerys being the complete opposite of his usual "type" of woman. He forgets about his plans for the stepmother and follows Cerys, having no idea what it is he's feeling. And so begins the creepy stalker's romance with his sunshine.
I LOVED the way this couple met. The premise was AMAZING. The idea that you have this super hot, but incredibly broken man who likes making romance into a predator / prey game, then having him target the heroine's evil stepmom was great. And then having the heroine be this weird, adorable girl who is just on the sidelines laughing at this "hero" and giving him advice, while unknowingly making him fall head over heels over her. It was *chef's kiss*. I love that only Cerys saw him for exactly what he was, but had very little fear of him, despite James constantly trying to make her scared of him and trying to intimidate her (in his own sexy way). The fact that James was SO CONFUSED by her, but so attracted to her and was so angry with himself for it was hilarious. I do really wish that the author would've delayed their "courtship" more though. I think it would've been very entertaining to see James be in denial of his feelings and still try to seduce Cerys' evil stepmom, only to be completely obsessed with Cerys and have more moments of Cerys watching him fail at his plans and laughing. The premise was JUST SO GOOD and I wanted to see more moments like that. Oh well, you can't have everything!
The sex scenes were ridiculously hot, and they made a really cute couple together. I wasn't really fond of James' push / pull, although thankfully that drama didn't last very long. I would've preferred Cerys being more reluctant, and James being the one to pursue more relentlessly when he realized his feelings for her. He was still OTT stalker possessive though, which was nice.
Safety:
* Heroine is a sweet, adorable virgin who was never in a relationship.
* Hero is very much not a virgin. Has an entire "game" where he seduces and courts women, only to use them up and move on to stalking his next victim. Becomes completely dedicated to heroine after seeing her.
* No OM, no OW (hero originally was going to pursue heroine's stepmom, but that left his mind fast as soon as he saw heroine)
* No condoms or protection
* HEA with epilogue and heroine is heavily pregnant at the end.
