I'd been his punching bag for too long. Being abused and isolated was my norm. I wouldn't have this life for my daughter. She deserved better. I deserved better. That's when we ran. Ran for our lives. Ran to find happy and a new normal. We didn't have much but we had each other, and I thought that was everything we would ever need. What I didn't expect was to find him. But it didn't matter. Because I wasn't worthy. Not of him...
Nicole Hart is a contemporary romance author with a new love for psychological thriller and mystery. She is a lover of words and storytelling. When she's not writing, she loves spending time with her husband and two kids. She's from the one red light town of Boyd, Texas and enjoys life on her old country road. She survives on coffee, sarcasm and old country music.
This was so beautifully written. It was sweet and clean and you didn’t even miss the sexy times because you were so wrapped up In their story. I loved Ryan. She was so strong and fearless. She was a survivor who deserved so much! And Joshua was swoon worthy. Strong, determined, sweet, and so darn loving! I loved the meaning this story conveyed. It was really good
* if faith books aren’t your thing you may wanna pass ...but your missing out*
I went into reading IN HIS EYES completely blind as to what the book was about, except for reading the blurb. From the prologue I was sure it was going to be a very difficult subject. I found this to be a different book from the other books I have previously read by Nicole Hart. I found this book to be very inspirational, and I enjoyed the strength of the characters and how faith and hope is the theme through out.
Ryan had known since she was a little girl that she wanted to be a mother. It was something that she had felt deeply about for as long as she remembered. She also knew that she would be a good mother when the time came. She had so much love to give.
Then the time did come and she was expecting a baby. She was hoping that this would be the thing that would change her husband Aaron. Maybe he would show the baby love and control his hot temper. You can't continue to get drunk and take it out on everyone around you when you had a child. But when the baby girl did arrive things were not okay. Plans had to change. Ryan had no choice, but to leave with Gracie. She vowed that Aaron had hit her for the last time.
Ryan had to draw on all the strength she had to take the baby from every bit of stability she had and run. She had no doubt that one of these days Aaron's abuse would escalate, turning his abuse on Gracie. And if Ryan ended up in the hospital or dead, who would protect her baby then. It took all her courage but she did it. Found a safe place in a shelter in Texas named Safe Haven. She found she had people to help her. Made friends, and found comfort in a church. Found her faith and trust in Jesus. Best of all she met the Pastor Andrews adopted son Joshua. A man too good to be true!
“Guide my steps, Lord. Show me that I am a survivor. Release me from the guilt and shame I carry. Comfort me when I feel alone. Give me strength when I feel weak. Heal me so I can live my best life. Use me to help others. Amen.”
Such a great story, I went into it blind which I’m glad I did. A heart wrenching tale of finding your strength when you have no other choice if you want to keep yourself and your daughter safe. Starting to heal and finding your value when everyone can see it but you. Finding your soul mate that treats you and your daughter like his most precious gift. This one has all the feels and definitely worth the read. Nicole hits it out of the park with this one.
I thought the violence and abuse of her life was protrayed lighter than some other books I've read but it doesn't mean that you don't understand that physical abuse was actually half of the damage. The mental tear down affected Ryan (not fond of boys names for girls, lol) much worse. Her body healed but her self esteem and nightmares continue.
She was invited to church by a lovely caring lady where she is intoduced to Joshua.
I like how he is determined to get Ryan's attention even though she runs every time he gets near. He has to work hard. He makes her feel worth it once he gets to date her. His background helps us understand how God placed them together.
It's a great story with hope for those who need to get away from the bad relationships of abuse. God is so good.
I love when I go into a book completely blind, it helps keep my expectations high. My expectations were definitely met, just like they are with all of Nicole's books. Personally I'm not religious so when I started getting into this book I wasn't sure how I was going to like it, but I actually really enjoyed this read. It gives you a different perspective into people's lives and definitely makes you think. Thank you Nicole for this book, I love your writing ♡
All I can say is what an amazing book! This book is well written. It keeps you hooked from the first page. Ryan is an amazing, strong, loving and caring woman. I am happy that Joshua wore her down to give him a chance. True love always finds a way. This is the first book I have read by this Author. This author is now on my list of books to be watching for to read more of. I as a reader can tell that this book was written with her heart and soul on every page. It isn't every day you find a book like this. Give this book a read. I know I am glad that I did!
I found this book to be very emotional and spiritual. I am not a religious person at all and I had a bit of a hard time connecting with that portion of the book. Ryan is such a strong female, it was refreshing.
Over all I loved the book it was new and out of the box.
A heartbreakingly beautiful story about finding strength in yourself, learning to trust again and moving on. This book has a heavily religious theme to it, which isn’t normally my type of read at all; but this story flowed really well, and I finished it in one sitting. My first read by Nicole Hart, I’m excited to try more.
So I finished ln his eyes by Nicole Hart and I really enjoyed it very much. There so much that you could take from this book about self-healing about seeking peace and knowing your self worth, that you are good enough for someone .I loved how the author incorperated going to church and finding god in beautiful ways , how he can be your savior in many ways .
I went into this book not really knowing what it was about. I love the author so I just one clicked. It did not disappoint. Its a story about a woman (Ryan) who takes her baby daughter (Gracie) and flees an abusive relationship. It is told from her point of view and you get to see her fears, her lack of confidence in herself, her doubts, and her questions of her self worth. This is such a great story that talks about a lot of things people don't talk about or think about when it comes to abusive relationships. Things are not alway happy ever after because of the trauma suffered. This book shows that and tells the tale of a strong woman & mother who overcomes those self doubts and finds true love. On the other side there is Joshua the strong man that embraces all of Ryan and her daughter and helps them through some tough times in their lives. I absolutely love the community of characters that come together in this book to help out. Shows what true community is all about.
Ryan wanted a better life for herself and for her sweet daughter. Though she was afraid, she knew getting out was her only option but she never dreamed her path would lead her to Him.
Joshua knew one day he would find his happiness. He believed it would come to him when the timing was right.
I can't say enough about this book. It's a sweet romance and when the a-ha hit me it was like a ton of bricks. The author spins the tale of a desperate woman and it's a wonderful ride. This story is definitely a page turner.
I immediately felt in touch with the heroine and her turmoil and torment as the words were so descriptive. The hero is one in a million and couldn't have been created more perfectly.
I have read many of this author's works and loved them all. I would highly recommend this book
This is my 8th book of Nicole’s ... it’s different from anything I’ve read of hers. This wasn’t an easy read for me. It wrecked me in the best of ways. The issues aren’t easy to read, I can’t even begin to imagine writing about them. I think any woman who has been beat down in a relationship, whether it be physically, emotionally, or mentally can relate to this book. I know I did. It’s always an emotional roller coaster to read a book dealing with abuse, but those are the BEST ones. The ones that leave a mark on your heart forever. Everyone deserves to be loved and valued ... it just takes the right person to do it. It takes strength to overcome the fear. It takes courage to see yourself and love yourself through His Eyes.... I love that she learns to have faith in God and know that he can get her through anything. I love how patient Joshua is with Ryan ... I love how he loves Gracie ...
I really enjoyed this book. The journey Ryan went through in this book both physically and spiritually was very well written. Ryan left her abusive husband to make a better life for her and her daughter. She worked hard to start over from nothing. She makes some loving friends along the way who encourage her to come on her spiritually journey. While working on her spiritual and physical needs she meets Joshua, she doesn’t want to give the poor man the time of day because she’s afraid. Thankfully he’s persistent and not without some helpers. The one line that is a huge takeaway from this book that anyone can incorporate into their daily lives is this: You are worthy. I hope you give this book a chance!
Ryan has a lot to overcome. On the run with her baby girl, she is just trying to start over and protect her little girl. She doesn't expect to stumble upon some of the best people she'll ever encounter, let alone a man who she is completely drawn to for some unknown reason. Joshua has a past of his own, but by the grace of God, he is stronger and a better man because of it.
This is a story of acceptance, struggle, healing, and learning to overcome the fear of not trusting or loving. So inspiring, my heart overflowed with love for these characters! My soul traveled the journey with Ryan and her little girl. I loved every exquisite word! 5 stars! An absolute MUST READ!!
I am always excited to read Nicole Hart’s newest releases. I have yet to find one of her works that I didn’t love, and In His Eyes was no exception! The story immediately pulled me in and I couldn’t put the book down. While it is completely different than any of her previous works, I was just as invested. I loved the theme of overcoming your past and finding your worth. Definitely a must read! I can’t wait to see what Nicole publishes next!
Wow! Imagine reading a book - that you went in mostly blind- and feeling as if the Author has been seeing parts of your life and writing them into a perfectly heartwrenching HEA. That's how I felt after reading In His Eyes. Reading Ryan's story had me thinking about my family. The courageous and brave women. The uplifting and peaceful feeling God can bring. The friends and family who are there to love and support you. The men who are there to show you just how worthy you are. An amazing story that needs to be read and cherished. I highly recommend you pick this one up.
This was a very emotionally, spiritual read. It was full of love and forgiveness, religious beliefs, and some drama. Joshua and Ryan meet during a time when Ryan is definitely not ready. She needs guidance and the ability to feel safe, but she needs that from herself. Joshua had so much patience and love. I loved this book and the story. It was a great, quick read.
What a beautiful, heart clenching read. The heartwrenching life that Ryan has faced would not be an uncommon one unfortunately. To see her break free, overcome and find happiness was what we would hope for all survivors of abuse. Joshua had a heart of gold, his soft gentle nature is one we would love to see in all men. There story is so sweet and I couldn't put it down.
I read - a lot. In His Eyes is different from anything I've read recently. It's honest, it's real and it's not afraid to go to a place most books I read don't (this may be my fault because I tend to not read "sweet romance").
From the first page to the last, this story held my attention. It tells a story of many, many women in relationship.
If you identify with the story, please remember:
"...you can't change the past. But you can change the future."
I don’t even know where to start with this review. The first few chapters were so raw and accurate when it comes to abuse. Ryan’s journey is so many of us. I had to keep going to make sure she got the ending her and her baby deserved. I wish I could properly express what this book made me feel. It was well written and made me love Nicole a little harder.
This story gave me chills, literally!!! It was so inspiring and real. I've never read a book that moved me like this one did. I've enjoyed all of this author's books but this one is definitely at the top of my list now!
I can't even explain how much everyone needs this book in their life. It's just phenomenal!!!
I don’t even have the adequate words to explain what this book meant to me. While this isn’t like anything Nicole Hart has ever published, it definitely stands on its own in a whole new way. She has a knack for taking a tough subject and making it uplifting by the end. Truly a wonderful book!
In His Eyes was an emotional and beautiful read. Ryan and her baby Gracie go on the run to escape and end up finding some amazing people. The struggle of Ryan healing and to feel like she was worth something made me sad for her. I loved Ryan, Gracie and of course Joshua! Ryan's friends were pretty great too! This was a great read!
A well written story about Ryan finding her self worth while healing. Finding her strength through survivors and a newly found faith, overcoming your past and finding true love. A new to me author and I look forward to reading her other books.
I love all of Nicole's books, but this one is my favorite to date! This is a story about how a woman decides to make a better life for her & her daughter. It was fantastically written to show how an abused woman is so broken and feels as if she is not worthy and her road to finding true love. I am forever Ryan, Gracie & Joshua fans!!!
True to herself, Nicole Hart writes a story full of emotions. The biggest emotion is hope. Hope of something better, something bigger, something life chancing. Hope to main character to find her place in the world. The story could be from real life, like it was experienced and turned to story from diary. The story kept in its hold from start to finish and left peaceful and hopeful feeling. I recommend!!!
I knew from the moment I read the blurb that I wanted to read this book. This book deals with something that every woman has gone through in life and it sheds a light on what a person would do for the sake of their child. This casebook should areas by everyone.
