Darcy Ward has sold her soul to the devil. Okay, not quite the devil, but she did agree to work with Agent Arrogant and Annoying—aka Special Agent Alastair Burke of the FBI’s Art Crime Team to lay a trap for infamous black-market antiquities ring, Silk Road.

Darcy loves shoes, computers, caffeine, and working at her family business, Treasure Hunter Security. The only thing missing is her dream of a once-in-a-lifetime love, like her parents share, and a man who’ll put her first. She’s not so crazy about Silk Road trying to kill her family and friends, nor is she fond of an order-giving FBI agent and his distracting cologne. Using a trio of cursed diamonds as bait, she’s working hard to set a trap for Silk Road in the Dashwood Museum, but as the black-market thieves escalate their attempts to stop Darcy, she finds herself swept into Alastair’s strong, protective arms.

Alastair Burke is driven by vengeance. He’s dedicated his life to taking down Silk Road and its mysterious leader, the Collector, and now he finally has his chance. He can’t allow anything to distract him—especially not a sassy, smart woman who tests every bit of his control. But as the opening gala of the cursed diamonds exhibit approaches, the thieves target him and Darcy with a series of deadly attacks…and Alastair realizes he’ll do anything to keep her safe.

With the FBI and the former SEALs of Treasure Hunter Security at their backs, Darcy and Alastair are caught up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, and their fierce attraction. But with lives on the line, Alastair will find himself caught between his desire for revenge and keeping the woman he’s falling for alive.

If you’ve followed this series then you will have been waiting anxiously for Darcy ( computer geek extraordinaire) and Burke ( agent arrogant and annoying) to finally stop fighting those crazy feelings between them. Honestly attraction is far too tame a word for these two and finally working on a case together you just know that whatever has previously simmered between them is about to hit boiling point ! So add in those who work for the nefarious Silk Road constantly coming at the couple in order to steal priceless diamonds that might hold mysterious powers and you just know this book is going to be a full on adrenaline filled ride that never runs out of steam !
This was a fun read that truly entertained this reader from beginning to end. It was simply fabulous reading about the couples stiff relationship as it changed when they worked together. I won’t lie Agent Burke does keep trying to keep control of everything but Darcy never dissapoints as she’s resourceful and a worthy heroine. Plus we get to see out favourite Treasure Hunters make an appearance and for those who are enjoying the authors new series about Team 52 well there’s even a sneaky glimpse of them.
This has been a series full of excitement and imagination but alas with this book I feel the journey of Treasure Hunter Security is pretty much told but with a lot more to come from Team 52 I wouldn’t be surprised to see them pop up again soon. For now though it’s all about the happy ending that this couple and indeed all our favourite security team have with a sweet and funny epilogue that leaves this reader smiling.
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Darcy and Burke have been dancing around one another FOREVER and it's been patently obvious to everyone but them that their sniping and poking at one another is their version of foreplay because OMG, THESE TWO. Burke is just about the only man who can rile Darcy up and Darcy absolutely drives Burke to distraction in every way.

It's wonderfully hilarious to watch.

The good news is things come to a head when the two of them are targeted by Silk Road. Darcy isn't about to let HER special agent man get taken out by the criminal organization and Burke isn't willing to let anyone else he cares about die at their hands. So they fight and kiss and work on bringing the bad guys down and get a few answers in the process. No wait. More than a few. They get answers. It's great!

A solid ending to the series, we get plenty of face time from the couples who have come before, some thrilling heroics by everyone of consequence, and a pretty satisfying wrap up on the fate of Silk Road. *thumbs up*

The simmering tension between Special Agent Arrogant and Annoying (Alastair Burke) and Darcy Ward stretching over the the whole Treasure Hunter Security series, left as the last novella, finally, finally comes to fruition in ‘Undetected’, where it all gets wrapped up in a mere hundred-ish pages. The bad guys go down, in a spectacular, Bruce-Willis-action-movie kind of way (this isn’t to say suspension of disbelief isn’t clearly needed in some scenes), and Darcy and Burke still manage get the hots on after getting bloodied and bruised in the process.

Although definitely not a standalone, ‘Undetected’ works well because of the build-up over the last few books, with the overarching narrative and characters already in place to launch this last instalment off from the get-go. In essence, the story’s loads of fun and full of non-stop action and as anxious as I was to see how Darcy/Burke’s story would play out, I was pretty chuffed with how things went down with them—the push-pull from the both of them coming across as foreplay, the explosive sexy times—though I was pretty outraged at the somewhat rushed ending, but only because I wanted more of them.

Undetected (Treasure Hunter Security, #8) series has it all. Action, suspense, mystery, danger, romance are just some of what to expect when diving into one of Anna's books. The treasure hunters are called upon when protection is needed and ancient artifacts are sort after but they go into alpha mode when trying to protect. But let's not forget the sexy, alpha men and women who protect and find their someone else even though they are players beforehand. It's just as good the second time as the first time I read it.

Wow what a finish to the Treasure Hunter Security series

One thing you can always count on Anna Hackett to wrap up a series with a bang. Especially since Darcy Ward and FBI Alastair Burke have been smouldering on summer since book one.
This one has the Three most valuable and of course cursed diamonds: The Regent, D'Sancy and the Black Orlov each have a story behind their beauty along with their curse. Do I think Silk Road will try to steal them from the museum, yep, are they wanting one or all for their power of course.

Will we finally find out who the leader of Silk Road is? But you'll be surprised for sure. Can Darcy and Agent Arrogant and Annoying finally get their HEA? Of course.
Fantastic book and highly recommend this exciting adventure series.

UPDATE: I have always enjoyed escapism Action and Adventures movies and stories, ever since my first wonderment with Golden Age swashbuckling Errol Flynn movies. Similarly, Anna Hackett’s novels allow the reader a brief escape into another place, another world filled with crazy adventures. The Treasure Hunter Security series checks all the boxes for me - Action, Adventure, Romance, an overall light tone (think Indiana Jones or Cussler’s NUMA adventures), a snarky dialogue, capable and intelligent female characters, male characters trained to kick a$$ yet flexible enough to appreciate complex women concluding with HEAs and the villains reaping “their just reward.” Yay.

UNDETECTED was a reread for me but my first time with audio as I purchased and listened to the audio version read by Stella Bloom. I very much enjoyed a few days with the adventures of the Treasure Hunter Securities Inc team. :D

ORIGINAL POST:
UNDETECTED is bk#8 and the final book in Anna Hackett’s Treasure Hunter Security series. The series moves quickly with plenty of action and adventure. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone title, however an overall story arc connecting the books is present and characters from the other books are interwoven. Yet IMO, neither of these factors prevents the pleasure of reading a single book (in or out of order), if desired. Fascinating stories will simply be missed. In UNDETECTED Anna does a good job of tying off lose ends, returning all the characters from the previous books, and introducing the main character in the 1st book of the next series - MISSION - HER PROTECTION, TEAM 52.

Darcy Ward/FMC is a technology and computer genius. She and her 2 brothers co-own a security company connected to the antiquities trade and it’s her pleasure to provide timely transport and supplies, immediate extraction, send in additional back-up support, dig into personal backgrounds of suspicious characters and whatever else it takes to keep her brothers and their staff safe on the job in the field, globally.

Agent Alistair Burke/MMC is an antiquities expert working in the Art Crimes Unit for the FBI. His job is to gather information, stop antiquity thefts and apprehend the thieves. When he fails to prevent the theft, he focuses on locating and catching the perpetrators, then retrieving the artifacts after the fact. In the last number of years, Agent Burke efforts and Darcy’s work with her brothers have overlapped on several occasions. A certain gang of antiquity thieves with connections in high places has been focusing on the jobs Darcy’s brothers have taken and innocent people have died. Pooling both the strengths of the FBI and Darcy’s insider knowledge has protected TREASURE HUNTERS SECURITY staff so far. But it has been too close. So now both Darcy and Agent Burke want to shut the group down. From Darcy’s point of view a compromise must be made; she and Agent Burke will have to work together.

READER CAUTIONS -
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used.
VIOLENCE - PG-13. Similar to Indiana Jones.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. About at 50% mark, an attraction which has been brewing through the last 3 or more books bubbles to the surface. Detailed on-scene intimacy occurs a number of times between the 2 main characters. Therefore, I do not recommend UNDETECTED to YA readers, and those who prefer Clean fiction would be advised to look elsewhere.

CAPTIVATING - ACTION - DANGER & FIERY PASSIONATE ROMANCE

UNDETECTED - IS MOLTEN-HOT. When you wait for a story so long you don't want to be let down. Undetected far surpassed my expectations. From the start of this fast-paced intriguing read there is gripping suspense, spine-chilling action, life-threatening moments, sharp-witted banter, heart-tugging moments, fabulous vivid scene descriptions, and fiery passionate romance.

Darcy and Alastair have been battling wits for years. Special Agent Alasitair Burke is hot, powerful, a workaholic, needs to be in control, loves to give orders and his life-long mission is to end Silk Road. Darcy is a beauty, an electronic genius, loves her job at Treasure Hunter Security and her sassy mouth has a habit of stopping the anoying Alasitair in his tracks. Together they face quite a few harrowing dangers until they get their most deserved happily ever after.

UNPUTDOWNABLE FANTASTIC well-written read by a truly gifted author. Fabulous cast of engaging characters. Alistair's backstory is heart-tugging and gives insight to his drive to demolish Silk Road. Loved the chemistry between Darcy and Alistair; a perfect match. If you enjoy fast-paced action romances this is a great addition to a library. Finding this to be a most awesome read {of my own volition without any stipluations, I reviewed an advanced copy.} Without hesitations, I recommend this read.

A fitting end to Treasure Hunter Security! This book features less archaeology than the other books. Darcy and Burke are pretty excellent together. Who says a computer nerd can't love her heels? (I mean, I'm a computer nerd who doesn't, but I appreciate those who do). The action, pacing, and love scenes are very well put together, making this book a page-turner.
The series ends with pretty much all the loose ends tied up. Don't read it first!

We’ve seen glimpses of Darcy and Agent Arrogant and Annoying, a/k/a Special Agent Alastair Burke. They both have reasons for wanting bring Silk Road down. This book is full of sexual tension, romance, suspense, and action. And it was a fitting end to the Treasure Hunter Security series.

Darcy and Agent Arrogant and Annoying/Special Agent Alastair Burke

Agent Burke has set up the perfect lure to catch Silk Road, the notorious ring of jewel thieves. He's brought in Treasure Hunter Security, THS, to oversee the Security and Darcy is their Tech Guru. She has had to work closely with Burke, whom she calls Agent Arrogant and Annoying.

Seeing these two work, fight and dance around each other is so fun.

This is the finish to the Treasure Hunter Security Series. All the stories, characters and locations have been fabulous! I'll miss the Ward Family and all their HEAs.

The explosive end of an era.

I simply love the THS series and am sad to see it end, but WOW, what an ending! Sparks, danger, and true love abound in this action-filled story, with plenty of cameos from all of the couples from previous books. This is a total must-read for all Anna Hackett fans!!!

Originally published at Reading Reality

Darcy Ward thinks of Alastair Burke as Agent AA – otherwise called Agent Arrogant and Annoying – with all the words capitalized. But as devoted readers of the Treasure Hunter Security series are well aware, those AA letters could also refer to the power in Darcy’s battery-operated-boyfriend, because whether she wants to admit it or not – and she definitely doesn’t – Burke gets her all hot and bothered. And not nearly enough of either the hot or the bothered has to do with the way he goes out of his way to piss her off at every turn.

Growing up with two ex-Navy SEAL brothers (brother Declan’s story is in Undiscovered and brother Callum’s in Uncharted) Darcy would either come to really, really detest Alpha males, or want one of her very own. She only thinks she detests the idea, as she discovers that Burke pushes all of her buttons, both the angry and the erotic.

What she really wants is a relationship just like the ones that her brothers have found, and the one that her parents have. The romance between archaeologist Oliver Ward and treasure hunter Persephone Blake is in The Emerald Tear, part of the Unidentified duology. They have the kind of romance that makes readers swoon, even if those same readers can also see that they are so absorbed in each other (still!) that their now-adult children would both envy them and feel a bit left out of their attention to each other.

While it isn’t necessary to have read the entire series to enjoy Undetected, it probably is. Yes, I contradicted myself. This author makes me do that – and tie myself up in knots waiting for her next book.

Undetected is the culmination of the entire Treasure Hunter Security series. Darcy and Burke’s relationship has been simmering since they first met, and by this eighth book in the series, it’s finally boiling over. At the same time, the scenario for the entire adventure from beginning to end was unknowingly kicked off by Oliver and Persephone in The Emerald Tear. So in addition to the smoking hot romance between Darcy and Burke, the adventure part of this action-adventure romance is payback for everything that has happened in the intervening decades as well as all the previous books in the series.

That’s a lot of plot threads to tie off. The book works a whole lot better if the reader has knowledge of those plot threads getting tied on in the first place. And this series is terrific. If you like action adventure mixed with romance and haven’t read THS, and/or if you have fond memories of the movie Romancing the Stone, this series is a real treat from beginning to end.

Escape Rating A-: But speaking of ends, Undetected is definitely it. In some ways, it reminds me a bit of Imperator, the highly anticipated final book in Hackett’s Galactic Gladiators series, in that the relationship in the book has been anticipated from early in the series, and the way that it brings the series as a whole to a successful conclusion.

As much as I loved the way that Undetected brings the entire series to an epic conclusion, it’s the romance between Darcy and Burke that really makes this story work.

By this point in the series, we know Darcy pretty well. She is the co-owner of THS with her brothers, and is also their resident computer hacker/genius extraordinaire. She has an important part to play in all of their “encounters” with the Silk Road gang. But laying this particular trap for the criminals has Darcy front and center. Not that they won’t need a whole lot of serious muscle to take down these bastards, but if the setup isn’t absolutely air-tight, said bastards will get away yet again.

It’s Darcy’s job to make sure the set-up is properly set-up from every conceivable angle. It’s Special Agent Alastair Burke’s job to make sure that Darcy is protected so that she can do that job.

But being constantly in Darcy’s orbit breaks Burke out of his self-imposed laser focus on taking down Silk Road. The more time they spend together, and admittedly the more times that Silk Road targets her, the more he is forced to realize just what she means to him. The humanization of the nearly robotic agent we first met is what makes this romance sing. Or gives it its zing. Or both.

For fans of the THS series, Undetected is a treat from beginning to end. And if you haven’t yet begun the series, start with Undiscovered and enjoy the ride!

UNDETECTED was a bittersweet read because I've been waiting for Darcy and Burke's story for a long time but it's also the last one in the TREASURE HUNTER SECURITY series. Anna Hackett does not disappoint and we get another action packed, super sexy suspense romance. From the first time Darcy and Burke crossed paths there has been a delicious tension between them and as much as Darcy likes to call Burke "Agent Arrogant and Annoying" she also can't help but be attracted to him. I liked that even when Darcy gave in to her attraction she still doesn't take any crap from Burke and she has no problem speaking her mind and disagreeing with him.

We've only had small glimpses of Burke throughout the series and he's mostly been presented as stuffy and stoic and married to his job of taking down Silk Road. Now we get to see more of his personality and find out about his past. Burke's mother was killed by Silk Road and he's dedicated himself to stopping them but it's also made his life fairly lonely. Burke doesn't want to fall for Darcy because he knows how much it hurts to lose someone; loving makes you vulnerable, but he's also determined to protect her. While he's used to being in charge there's no doubt that Burke respects Darcy's skills and her intelligence and he relies on her to pull her own weight in their fight. I also loved that Burke might wear stuffy suits all day but when those come off he was this wonderful, dirty talking alphaman. Talk about setting my Kindle on fire!

Burke and Darcy were an excellent pair and it was great to see all the previous TREASURE HUNTER SECURITY couples one more time. There was one small bad guy encounter at the very end that was kind of silly and totally unnecessary but other than that, this was a fun read and a satisfying ending to the series.

After fangirling over Darcy and Agent Burke (whoops, I mean Agent Arrogant and Annoying) for the past seven books, I was really, really looking forward to reading about them. I did enjoy the romance bit, but otherwise the story was quite...disappointing. It was simply too much.

Like seriously, either Darcy or Alistair (or both of them at the same time) was attacked, knocked out cold, held hostage, threatened, etc...in practically every chapter (minus the three chapters of tangoing in the sheets, but seriously guys, ain't nobody got time for that). It got so ridiculous that I was really starting to question just how "badass" and competent the good guys are supposed to be, if their security detail is that shitty.

Of course, everything worked out perfectly in the end, with a somewhat anticlimactic non-showdown that just felt...meh. Still love Darcy and Alistair to bits, but sadly they couldn't save the book's idiotic logic holes.

3 stars.

And now for the grand finale!

------------------

SERIES REVIEW
*disclaimer: these are all my personal opinions about the series as a whole* I'll try to keep it spoiler-free. And sorry for the giant wall of text.

WRITING 3 STARS
Definitely readable for good afternoon entertainment. Like a popcorn & chips kind of movie, just sit back and enjoy the show. I did notice, though, that the writing style was quite simplistic, with short, choppy sentences, and a tendency for repetition and lots of telling. Also, as much as I dislike internal monologues, here I really wanted to see more of it! Internal thoughts could have added more depth to the characters, especially the ones with dark pasts.

PLOT 3 STARS
The overarching plot was tied well with each individual story. I liked the author's creativity with the different settings. BUT the plot was also extremely formulaic, to the point where I already knew that Chapters 11 and 12 were gonna be the "obligatory sex scene" chapters. And yep, I was spot-on 90% of the time. Also, the deus ex machinas were getting more and more ridiculous (still shaking my head over the giant lemurs), but thankfully with the appearance of Team 52, it dialed back a bit. Still, the fast pace and action were good, overall, with some moments of great tension.

CHARACTERS 2 STARS
I'll be honest. The characters in general were pretty meh and two-dimensional. The majority of the heroines were interchangeable, with the exceptions being Darcy, Morgan, and Sloan (yup, the badass gals). Same deal with the heroes. Even worse in the last book, when they were all present in the same room...everyone sounded like blobs.

It wasn't much of a problem for the most part, since the books were mainly plot-driven, but this became a disadvantage for characters like Ronin. He had so much potential--his "dark" past in the CIA was never explored, only mentioned in snippets. I felt his character got cheated of potential growth and development.

The villains were totally lame. Silk Road's efforts at sabotaging the heroes' missions were incredibly laughable most of the time (but when they did get the upper hand, the heroes were the ones who looked stupid, so I guess idiocy is a two-way street). Also, so many mook deaths. Made worse by the fact that all the villains were so cookie-cutter, I really couldn't give a fig about any of them. They just existed to be killed and conquered.

ROMANCE 3 STARS
The romance, on a whole, was "insta," which worked in some books, but in others, it really detracted from the storyline and definitely showed the characters poorly, highlighting their flatness and cookie-cutter roles.

Best Couple
Declan & Layne (Book 1)
Well, it certainly helped that they were the first couple I read about, so their romance plotline was the most original. The chemistry felt natural and the buildup to romance was the least insta out of all the couples featured in the series (minus Darcy and Alistair).

Honorable Mention(s)
Alistair & Darcy (Book 8); Diego & Sloan (Book 7)
Mostly because I'm biased and a fangirl of Darcy and Agent Burke, but they did have great chemistry and UST throughout the series, which definitely helped. It just sucks that their storyline was absurd and dumb. Diego and Sloan, on the other hand, were kind of insta, but I really enjoyed their banter and their badass fights against the enemy. Power couple, whoo! (Wish their story was longer, though.)

Worst Couple (imo)
Callum & Dani (Book 2); Logan & Sydney (Book 3); Ronin & Peri (Book 6)
Sorry, but these couples were the most forgettable to me. Even worse, I started getting Dani and Sydney mixed up, and clearly it isn't my brain. Logan I just never really liked. Not much to say about Cal except that I don't remember enough about him to make a comment. As for Ronin and Peri, they were a serious missed opportunity. Peri was bland and her need to "save" Ronin and show him how to live again seemed so superficial, and Ronin's nonexistent character development made it all the worse.

Dishonorable Mention(s)
Oliver & Penelope (Book 7)
I just couldn't get over the squickiness reading about the parents getting it on. Also, they were the most insta out of everybody.

SAFETY
Totally safe reads, romance-wise. No OW/OM drama, no cheating, none of the guys were really manwhores (THANK YOU!), little to no mention of past relationships; does mention birth control & safe sex practice.

Non-romance safety: Plenty of action violence, but it's non-detailed and non-graphic, except for mentions of blood. Lots of mooks died (and nobody cared). Brief mentions of torture, murder, deaths of family and friends, but all non-detailed and non-graphic.

OVERALL RATING 2.75 STARS

Er...that's kind of low. But anyway, I do think the series has its highlights and awesome moments. It was a fun read, if a bit predictable. But predictable can be good, no?

OMG The end of the world is nigh! Okay, slight exaggeration but I'm already feeling the gaping wound left by the end of the THS series.

Darcy and Alastair's story has finally arrived and it is AWESOME! With more Silk Road baddies to face, including the eponymous "Collector", Darcy and the THS team, and of course the FBI's finest have their work cut out for them.

I loved getting some screen time with my favourite couples from THS and the epilogue at the end...well heartstrings were tugged and tears were almost upon me cos I loves me a happy ending!

I don't want to give away too much but lets just say that all that annoyance and arrogance that Alastair generates in Darcy? Well they have a superb way of getting rid of it. He smiles people - a really SMILE, there is even a LAUGH! And under that suit, well you'll have to find out for yourself but there is lots and lots of dirty talk!

A good end to this series, but I think Darcy and Alastair's relationship was slightly overshadowed by the need to wrap up the Silk Road plot and the introduction of characters from the spin-off series. Still, I'm glad to own all of these and will likely re-read them multiple times!

This is an extremely intriguing book and certainly holds the reader’s interest from start to finish. The different aspects that encompass the story only add to the overall enjoyment of it, as do the various twists and turns. It is time to put an end to Silk Road once and for all and, in collaboration with Darcy, Alastair has the perfect plan. Whether they will really be able to draw out the mysterious Collector remains to be seen. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Early that morning, Silk Road had targeted Darcy’s friends, then set their sights on Darcy and Alastair. Darcy may not know how to fly a damaged plane, but she is a genius with all things electronic and saves the day. As a teenager, Darcy remembers, in excruciating detail, how it felt to be shy and boring; her family were a tough act to follow, but she has learned how to embrace herself. Darcy has a few weaknesses, but is looking for a man to sweep her off her feet; someone who will put her first. Darcy has seen Alastair’s single-minded focus about taking down Silk Road. She has never met a more intense, driven man. He was far too controlled to fall in love and he wasn’t the kind of man who would make a woman the center of his world. From a young boy, Alastair’s only focus has been on avenging his mother’s murder; Silk Road had hurt her, stole her life and destroyed his and he is determined to get justice. Since joining the FBI, Alastair has let nothing and no one derail his mission; he didn’t have time for relationships or distractions. Alastair liked order and control in his life. The more the two work together, the more Darcy tests Alastair’s traits. Preparations were being made for three cursed diamonds to be exhibited at the Dashwood Museum; the hope is that they would lure out Silk Road and its mysterious leader, the Collector. Countless measures are taken to ensure the diamonds are well protected. Alastair knew Darcy would be the perfect person for this job; smart, clever and no pushover. Alastair had handpicked the best agents, as well as bringing in Treasure Hunter Security. But Silk Road will not be deterred; not only do they infiltrate the opening night, but cause maximum carnage in the process, eventually escaping with the diamonds. No one is aware that this has been Alastair’s intention all along; he wanted Silk Road to steal them and then to take them to the Collector. But suddenly Darcy’s life is more important than Alastair’s mission; she is more than a distraction, she is beginning to take over his life. The two are surprised by the identity of the Collector, but will lust and greed contribute to the Collector’s downfall; is the diamond really cursed or could it be a piece of ancient technology? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

4.5 stars because Interesting and fun! (except for that weird scene with the post-Silk Road guy coming into THS which is chock-full of armed SEALs and assorted other badasses, INTRODUCES himself, states his intentions, etc... like some comic book villain... wth?)

I would've been fine with everybody in that room putting a bullet in him, just to stop the foolishness.

Other than that, it was a fun read. MCs only got kidnapped.. twice (once each?) ( I don't count the last one because it was a rushed recon and, oh well).. and the ending with Villain was a bit rammed-through (y'all went 8 books deep with Silk Road wreaking havoc ... and... that's it?) .. but other than that, it was enjoyable. Ms Hackett does a good job building the archeology tale (at least from this layperson's POV) and she writes an actual story, with the sexy bits coming in at the appropriate time(s). Hero is a bit dominant so if that's a trigger, pass on this one.
I did not read the entire series (started with #4 because Woman (almost) SEAL providing security - what's not to love? But during that #4 read I was intro'd to Darcy & Burke and I liked the spark in that brief encounter - glad I went ahead and read their story. Maybe a bit ahead of myself here (because Only Two Books) but it seems like Hackett is very comfortable writing strong women heroines as well as males (#4 has the Alpha male giving total props to the Alpha female, acknowledging her superior strengths. Where the hell is this unicorn? I. Want. Him. NOW!). She isn't perfect but Hackett writes her mistakes (both tactical and emotional) as being legit possible. As fantastic(fantasy) the Indiana Jones-type story is, it smacks of adults adulting. Loved the throwaway twist on the spy, too. The 'hissing snake' made me LOL! Liked the book. A lot.)

Which brings me back to #8, Undetected. Here the heroine has more cerebral than physical skills - but she's still a badass - and her wrangling of the uber-Alpha hero is badass, indeed, getting him to start to recognize her as a person, rather than always a problem to solve. Again, adults adulting.

I'm going to give Anna Hackett a break for awhile so I can conjugate some verbs, but I'll. Be. Back.

Unfortunately the last installment of this series

I was desperately waiting for Darcy and Burke’s story and at the same time I dreaded it, because it is the final book in the THS series.

This one is another action-romance with a hint of paranormal. We have Darcy who has to work with Burke and the book starts already with them together in an airplane. Really nice scene. The two are overcoming their opinion of the other in order to work together in setting a trap for Silk Road by using a cursed diamond and two other diamonds as bait.

Burke wants revenge on Silk Road and Darcy wants them out of the game to protect her family and their business.

Darcy likes to call Burke Agent Arrogant and Annoying, but we have already seen their attraction in previous books. And Burke is so set on bringing Silk Road down that he has no time for any kind of distraction and still he is drawn to the sexy smart sister of the Ward brothers.

The small things in this book make it so great. While both pretend not to be interested, Alastair knows Darcy well. He knows her coffee addiction and appreciates her clothing style. He is aware that she is not only a couture doll, but a smart independent woman. And Darcy knows that Alastair is a good agent and focused on his task.

The chemistry between them is off the charts.

While they are setting the trap, a lot of things go wrong and prove that Silk Road is not that easy to bring down. Burke has to protect Darcy and Darcy is Burke’s rescue as well.

Fast paced great action with a great final.

I liked that while they have the support of their teams they still act very independently and that they are doing a great job. We have good and well developed characters and a good final story.

I can absolutely recommend this book when you like action and strong characters.

It is not necessary to read the other THS books to get into that one, but it would be a loss to start with this one, because you would miss all previous encounters and the Silk Road story which developed in the other books.

Finally we get Darcy Ward and Special Agent Alistair Burke's, Agent Arrogant and Annoying, story. It's the perfect ending to the Treasure Hunters Security Series. All of the THS team and their significant others are part of the final mission to take down and dismantle Silk Road. This book goes from 0-60 in the first few pages and never slows down. Honestly, I couldn't read fast enough. Wowza, what a series finish! The epilogue to this book will make you smile.

Alistair and Darcy have been thorns in each others side for what seems like years. They snipe, argue, annoy and irritate each other any way they can. You know what they say though....there's a fine line between live and hate. Now he needs her and her brilliant computer skills to set up the ultimate sting; lure the Collector out with a trio of priceless diamonds, at least one of which is rumored to be cursed. Despite all their preparations and planning, Silk Road manages to stay one step ahead and continues to create havoc. Darcy is in the thick of it and just the mere thought of her being harmed nearly undoes Burke. Here's a newsflash, the same goes for Darcy about how she feels about him. When they finally act on their feelings it's nearly earth shattering. The Collector is finally revealed but taking them down is no easy feat but the ever mysterious Team 52 once again steps in to save the day.

Yahoo! Darcy and Alastair's story is finally here!!!
If you have been following the Treasure Hunter Security series by Anna Hackett, you have been waiting on pins and needles (and getting by on evil spoiler peeks) for Darcy and Alastair to get what's coming to them. Didn't quite see their adventure starting off with such a bang though.... In Undetected we see the battle against Silk Road continue. Darcy and "Agent Arrogant and Annoying" (her words) use a museum exhibit of 3 cursed diamonds to draw out the bad guys. Can they finally put an end to Silk Road forever? Things sizzle from there. Kidnapping, chlorine gas attack, rumors of weapons of alien origin, and deadly curses- to name a few things. Oh, and let's not forget the super hot, scorching sexual chemistry between our hero and heroine. I could tell the author really had a passion for this story-it translated absolutely clearly through her strong characters and well thought out plot. A very satisfying read with a great ending. I won't give any spoilers but let's say everybody gets their HEA. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this ARC book!
**Disclosure: I have to say this cover doesn't do Alastair justice. He is one super hottie in the book.**

I had chosen my favorite couples early in the series. Now, I changed my mind and discovered that Alister and Darcy are my new favorite couple. Alister is head of the FBI's Arts and Crime Unit, and Darcy is co-owner, tech guru, and make-it-happen genius of Treasure Hunter Security. Did I mention she is the sister of Callum and Declan Ward, two badass former Navy SEALS and co=owners of THS?!!! Both brothers are hugely protective of Darcy, especially when it comes to Alister. The sexual tension between Alister and Darcy has been brewing since the first book in the THS series. Their constant bickering was just a sign that something was brewing. I am so glad that Darcy had a chance to show her metal not just behind the computer but out in the field surrounded by danger. And Alister's backstory explained his drive for taking down Silk Road. However, his feelings for Darcy just amplified his reasons. The sexy scenes were perfect and just enough to make my pulse race. There is one scene where Alister is multitasking (you'll have to read the book to find out what I mean)! There are also some twists in the plot concerning Alister and his methods for trapping "The Collector" and the identity of the same. The final showdown traces back to the origins of a certain professor and his infamous or famous treasure hunter wife! Overall, I enjoyed "Undetected" and have pegged it as my favorite story out of the series. Well done, Mrs. Hackett!
