JUST MY TYPE is the second novel from Hannah Doyle, author of the laugh-out-loud hit rom-com THE YEAR OF SAYING YES, perfect for fans of Love Island, What Fresh Hell by Lucy Vine and Anna Bell.

Meet Jasmine.
- The quirky/cool photographer to a superstar blogger
- She's going on a date with a SUPER hot guy on the London Eye tonight
- Best friend Mila is her wifey for life
- This millennial is #LivingHerBestLife

But fast-forward a few hours, and the reality isn't quite so picture perfect. Jasmine hates her stuck-up blogger boss. She can barely afford rent in her stupid London flat. Her best friend seems to have all her sh*t together. Oh, and that date she was so excited about? She got dumped. On the London Eye. In the middle of a thunderstorm. With a bunch of tourists watching...

Best friend Mila decides that Jasmine needs a new 'type on paper', because Jasmine's current criteria is so off that her dating history is one long line-up of fools. So Mila challenges Jasmine to look once, if not twice, at the guys who wouldn't normally fit her 'type'. With nothing to lose, Jasmine accepts. Maybe, just maybe, she'll surprise herself.

This delightful story was JUST MY TYPE of romcom! A likable relatable female protagonist, strong friendships, and lots of laughs! Jasmine has not had the best of luck with men, her most recent “boyfriend“ dumped her on the London Eye. Her BFF Mila is convinced that Jasmine’s type is probably not the best type for her, and encourages her to go out on seven dates with men that aren’t her type. What follows is not only seven humorous dates with seven unique and interesting men. But also jasmine’s discovery of her own inner strength.

Jasmine was a great character and I enjoyed every minute I spent with her. Mila was a great BFF and I loved the girls friendship as well as their friendship with Brian. This is a storyline I am certain everyone has read before, but I thought it was done in a unique refreshing way. Jasmine worked for a famous blogger who traveled and that gave her the opportunity to meet men in all different parts of Europe. Most of the men she went out on dates with weren’t complete douches. All the dates were amusing, some of them I probably would’ve had fun on myself, and all of them made me laugh. As predictable as I thought this book might be, it did not go the way I thought it was going to. Jasmine had a major falling out with her father years ago and when I found the reason for that out, I was floored. She definitely had a huge reason to harbor a grudge, and I’m not sure if I would have been able to ever forgive that. I thought I was sure I knew who her future love interest would be, and I was happily Wrong.

This really was not a book about finding the right man it was more about learning to love yourself. And that was so refreshing and appreciated by me! Well done Hannah Doyle! As much as I love romcoms sometimes I think the focus is too much on a female only being happy if she finds the “right” guy, and I don’t think that is true. I think we create our own happiness and in this book that really was pointed out.🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Simply put this was a well told hilarious romcom with fantastic characters! If you like romcoms this is a can’t miss!

You might be looking at the blurb and thinking that this is just another one of those always funny rom coms where the main character goes on a series of unfortunate dates with completely ridiculous situations where you end up rolling you eyes and being thankful you aren't on Tinder yourself!

Well if you were thinking that - then stop as this is so much more original than that, and the dates involved well I loved every single one of those men! It is though still really funny, but it is so much more than that.

For most of the book I was wondering just what was so awful that Jasmine couldn't speak or think about her dad. I had jumped to what I thought was a logical conclusion to be relieved that I was very wrong, and very surprised.

It's a story where Mila, Jasmine's best friend insists that Jasmine go on seven dates all with men who don't fit her normal dating "type on paper", convinced that is where she is going wrong. Watching Jasmine not only date outside her comfort zone, but also gain confidence, and start making the most of her working life too is really encouraging to see.

I loved that due to her being a photographer to a superstar blogger, she was getting to visit assorted countries, but the travel lover in me would have loved to spend more time in each destination, but the quick glimpses were definitely good and gave a good feel for each country.

The men she dates, well you may not come across all of them yourselves, but they didn't feel too stereotypical either, but just really great blokes with some incredibly interesting ideas for their dates.

This is the second book I've read of Hannah Doyle's and just like The Year of Saying Yes, I could barely put it down and was enjoying every last word of it.

I found it the perfect book to read in my garden at the start of the Easter heatwave! I can't wait to see what this talented author writes next.

Thank you to Netgalley and Headline for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

4.5 stars!
The additional half star is because I woke up thinking about the book

The book is a fantastic mix of self discovery, forgiving the past and finding romance in an unlikely place told in a hilarious manner. Jasmine is all heart, yet lacking self confidence or a belief in her abilities. She's knocked down by a terrible ex and her dating life is a misery. The book may start of as finding her type but it veers more into a journey of how Jasmine becomes confident and positive again after letting go of her negativity

And there in lies the minor problem with this book. The book spends an outrageously long time with the caricature of a character that is her boss, Violet. The chapters were funny but it comes at a cost of character development. It was painful to see her keep going back to Violet This also takes away the time the author could have spent on Jasmine and her dad and most importantly reduces the time with our charming leading man. He deserved atleast an extra chapter. Maybe the author wanted to maintain the intrigue till the end but about midway you start to get an inkling or who among the 7 dates she is going to end up with and that deserved a little more build up and execution

Mila, Ben and Holly (ugh) form the rest of their friendship gang and Mila was fun. The dates were not all disastrous and some of them were very interesting. A very good book and great follow up to 'The year of saying Yes'

I guess everybody has a type. You know the feeling when ‘he’ enters a room and your eyes and body betray you and your head is outnumbered even though a voice is yelling inside you to not go there again and have your heart broken.

Time for a u-turn, right? When you head off for pastures new, you realize that the world is at your feet. You only have to take the bull by the horns and take a leap.

This is a story about finding your way in life and standing up for yourself, about putting the past behind you and looking forward and about being on the right path to happiness and love.

The book put a smile on my face and made me see that sometimes you need to step away from what you thought was the right thing because you have been doing it for years already. Sometimes you have to believe more in yourself and just go for it.

A very enjoyable story. 4 stars.

Thank you, Hannah Doyle and Random Things Tours.

Jasmine is in a relationship and right now she's expecting that her boyfriend is going to propose on the next date. However, this date goes belly - up and unfortunately for our heroine, she finds herself single again. Jasmine's best friend Mila claims it's because she dates only "her type" guys, and maybe she should simply go for one that, on paper at least, is not her type at all? So she sets Jasmine on a 7 date challenge - dating out of her comfort zones and maybe, probably finding The One?

Jasmine's job was really interesting - she was a photographer to a superstar blogger so on one hand it was such a brilliant, glamorous job, visiting different countries and providing so many possibilities. On the other hand, she had a real boss from hell, guys, who was belittling her and expecting wonders or burdened Jasmine with tasks almost impossible to accomplish. I think the author has really well captured the feelings of Jasmine here, when she didn't know what to do, when she didn't pluck up the courage to take matters in her hands, and as much as I wanted her to tell her boss to go to hell, I also understood that she was scared, that she was afraid what the future is going to bring. It was nice to see Jasmine's journey here, the change in her, her growing in confidence, of course with some help here and there - but who helped her and why and how? *you must read for yourself* *wink*

This book, just like Hannah Doyle's debut novel, started very, very promising, then went a bit downhill and then came back to being hilarious and warm. By downhill I don't mean that it was flat or not hooking, because it was, I just had a feeling that the story lost its impact in the middle, that's all. I also had problems with the main character at the beginning, and I swear guys, I've already started to panic because, Hannah Doyle's book, right, and what is happening? I don't know, Jasmine was somehow too shallow, too obsessed with finding the right boyfriend, too focused on her "type" - probably this is why I had this feeling of her being too shallow. But then it changed, she changed, and I've finished this book feeling like Jasmine's best friend, so there.

There are so many different books with characters going on dates, and so it is a real trial for the author to write a unique, hilarious blind date that hasn't been written yet! "Just My Type" provides us with series of such (unfortunate) dates and ridiculous situations but they were much more original and better I could have expected, so hats off to Hannah Doyle for this! The guys were so different, and the dates were so different, and it wasn't too cheesy, too meh, too schmaltzy, no, the dates were so enjoyable, the guys hilarious and I enjoyed every single moment of them. But oh my, how glad am I that I don't have to go on dates anymore...

I had a feeling that the book is aimed rather at younger audience than yours truly writing this review but nevertheless I simply loved this story. It was my kind of humour and I liked how light - hearted and easy it was. Perhaps there weren't many life changing turns and twists but still, little things happened here and there that were surprising and often made me go "oh no!" There was actually much more to this story than meet the eye. I really, really like Hannah Doyle's writing style. It is light - hearted, chatty, flows effortlessly, and it's full of humour and great one - liners. The way she describes her characters and events allows you to immediately feel drawn in, to feel comfortable with the book and the storyline. Altogether, "Just My Type" was a funny, sharp and very up - to - date story about learning things about yourself, pushing your boundaries, about facing challenges and finding love where we don't expect to find it. Recommended!

I am a massive fangirl of Hannah Doyle and her on point, witty humour. So much so, that if she decided to hold auditions for her new BFF, I would be the annoying person RIGHT at the front, shaking my pom poms to get her attention. See – even ‘fangirl’ is too tame for this one!

‘Just My Type’ is full of one liners which will make you nod your head like a nodding dog. You’ll be agreeing to the types on paper, wanting to kick Jasmine’s boss into next week, and no doubt turning green with envy at places Jasmine has galavanted off to. Trust me, people keep asking me if I’m Hulk….

Now, the premise of this storyline is something I’ve read before, I’ve got to be honest. However, the way in which it all came together, including the empowering angle, made ‘Just My Type’ stand out from the rest. I was a bit worried that I was going to find the storyline a bit predictable, but thankfully that wasn’t the case at all. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to slap the boss round the face on several occasions, and I wished that Jasmine would tell her where to go – she was vile!! That was where the empowerment and looking at life with hope, really came into it’s own, and it became very clear as to why Jasmine didn’t go and flush her boss’s head down the toilet..

Hannah Doyle puts the power into GIRLPOWER tens times over, creating characters which are just like you and me, whilst also filling her readers with hope and the belief to succeed, even when they feel as though the world and its wife is on top of them.

‘Just My Type’ is a poignant read about thinking with your own heart instead of following the masses. It’s about learning how to trust your own instinct and to believe that you can achieve anything, just as long as you try.

Yet another laugh out loud, warm and highly relatable read from an author to watch!

Just My Type is a super-cute rom-com, full of laughs, hilarious moments and ridiculous situations. All in the best possible light, of course. I adored The Year of Saying Yes so there was no way I was going to miss out on reading the next book by Hannah Doyle!

This is a fun, easy to read while on holiday type book. It was a joy to read and one that I could not put down. We follow Jasmine, a fantastic photographer who is used by her boss for her skills and who constantly ends up on dates with the wrong men because they are her “type on paper”.

So she is set a challenge, seven dates with seven different men who are not her usually ‘type’.

And to be fair, the men she dated were not usually. All of them pleasant, but some of them did have an unusual take on what is considered a normal date… And their understanding of what was acceptable lead to some very funny moments.

Along the way, not only does Jasmine find out what her type really is, she also gains confidence in herself. Enough that she starts taking risks with her dreams, and those risks pay off in more that one way.

In the end, this is a journey, it is about growth, about taking risks. If you do not take a chance how do you know what you are missing out on. How do you know if you can achieve so much more? At the beginning Jasmine was limiting herself but throughout she starts to realise the only limitation is herself. Sometimes you just have to go for it.

3.5 stars! This book was fun! It was hilarious, Bridget Jones foible-esque, and completely relatable. Jasmine gets a hard heart to heart talk from her best friend Mila about her dating habits and promises to only go out with guys who aren't her type on paper. 7 dates with 7 guys who are not her usual MO. Jasmine is a photographer for a famous blogger/influencer and while her boss was a terror, I loved this aspect because Jasmine in just so incredibly down-to-earth and funny. I add this because due to her job, Jasmine gets to travel with her boss and a lot of her dates are abroad which added so much to this fun story. Dates in Italy, France, and Switzerland to name a few, they were short, funny, but not drawn out which I appreciated. More than the dates though, the story is about Jasmine taking charge of her life and potential. Reading about her photography and jobs was so interesting and I honestly didn't want to put the book down. All of the elements worked together to make a super fun, light-hearted book about knowing your worth and stepping outside your comfort zone. There was one added element of depth to Jasmine's story that I personally did not like but did add relevance to the story, would have preferred for it to be a little less dramatic maybe.

I read & enjoyed 'The Year Of Saying Yes', so was looking forward to this one. The story line is somewhat similar: instead of the main character's personal growth through one challenge each month for a year, Jasmine has 7 dates with guys who are not her type, because dating guys who ARE her type has not exactly been working.
Meanwhile she is also working as personal photographer and social media manager for a well-known blogger/influencer. Of course there are some laughs, some drama etc.

Something that annoyed me was that she kept arguing that finding another job would be difficult due to lack of qualifications. But she had years of actual working experience with Violet?

Another annoyance was the sloppy editing - my edition contained several errors.

This book would be best aimed at late teens/early twenties rather than women's fiction as advertised. The main character is shallow and .I didn't warm to her at all throughout the entire book. I really wanted to enjoy this book because the author has been praised so highly but I was left feeling very old (I am 28), very uninterested and very flat.

An fun and enjoyable romcom. If you liked the book ‘It started with a Tweet’ by Anna Bell, this is the book for you. At first I thought it was going to be predictable but little things happen throughout to keep it interesting. Will definitely read more by the author.
