This was actually a pleasant surprise. I hadn't read a shifter story in a while and this has been sitting on my kindle.
-hot bear shifter - had been a manwhore but was never with others after meeting the heroine, even during their separation
-average heroine
-no cheating
-no ow/om drama whatsoever
-heroine pushes hero away (I wanted him to put up more of a fight)
-no epilogue - major letdown I would have given it a higher rating if it hadn't ended so abruptly
*book 1 in this series so I'm hoping we hear more about this couple

I know this is just book one, but I honestly don't know how feel about this series so far. RANCHER BEAR'S BABY was simple, sweet, and easy--something I usually don't enjoy although I didn't mind it here. However, for the first time in a Candace Ayers series, I kind of hate the other bear shifters. They were absolute pricks, especially to Elizabeth, and I don't know if I want to cheer for their HEAs just yet.

Plot: Elizabeth followed her boyfriend from DC to Montana, but now that she's moved here with him, she found him cheating on her. Left in the parking lot of the rodeo at night, she's wondering exactly how to get home when Alex stumbles upon her. He invites her to stay with him, and one thing leads to another...
But Elizabeth needs to get back to DC. Alex knows she's his mate but he lets her go anyways. She doesn't stay gone long, though, and when she comes back, she's not alone.
Commentary: I like this author, and I thought this story was sweet; I wish it had been longer. I would have liked more background about Alex's family or the town or Sam (how was he still there just working on the ranch?). What I did like is that Elizabeth didn't believe Alex's brother, not even for a second. She worried about finding him cheating, but that was her insecurity. She trusted Alex to be straight with her, so much so that she was unflappable even when he shifted.

I made a movement to step backwards and the bear grunted at me. It reached its paw out at me and I had a vision of it hurting my baby. I snapped and reached out and slapped its paw away. “You’re not killing me. Not today. I have a baby in here and I will fistfight a bear to keep him safe if I have to.” It backed up a step and then Alex appeared in its spot, naked and grinning. “You’d fistfight a bear for our cub?”

This story is a short one. Takes no time to read it. The book does contain other stories if you choose to read them.
Rancher Bear's Baby though was good but short. I was a little confused as to the timeline though. I can't figure out if Elizabeth is three or five months pregnant. She returns back to Wyoming after being gone 5 months but she is 3 months pregnant.
There were some typos as well. I have already purchased the rest of the series so I will give them a try to see if this author is one that I would like to follow or not. The idea behind this story is good. It just needs work to polish it up.

Enjoyable Read
I enjoyed this story and the leads. There was a bit of plot, but I would have liked a bit more at the end to see how she fit in with his family and the town. I recommend it for a short, steamy read with a HEA.

I love a fast paced supernatural story but kinda cranky it ended where it did . I wish it showed a little of their future together.

Avendo prima letto per sbaglio il libro dedicato al fratello di Alex, Matt, avevo già avuto modo di vedere la famigliola al completo e felice ma leggendo la loro storia ho potuto scoprire come tutto è iniziato e sopratutto, come il povero Matt sia finito ubriaco perso in una grotta per mesi XD La sinossi praticamente riassume tutta la storia, fondata sul più vecchio dei cliché, però ammetto che mi è piaciuta perché nella sua brevità e prevedibilità l'ho trovata comunque ben narrata e in generale Elizabeth è un personaggio decisamente più coerente e maturo di Leila XD

Recognizing love the minute you see her
No courting, simply a first encounter and Alex knew the minute he saw Elizabeth that she was meant to be his. His mate for life. Elizabeth was drawn to this stranger, this cowboy. Furious after she found her boyfriend Sam, engaging in blatant oral copulation with a strange woman at the rodeo, she walked away realizing that he hadn’t been worth all the time and effort she’d put into their relationship. A bit late after she’d quit her job, given up her apartment, sold her car to help him pay for his new truck and moved across the country to be with him.
Meeting Alex, spending the night with him strangely unnerved her. She had just dumped Sam and now she felt this strong connection to this virtual stranger? So, she ran again, all the way back to D.C.
This novella was written well enough that it caught my attention and I found myself liking both Beth, a curvy dame with moxie, and Alex, a bear with heart and a love of his family’s ranch. I loved their spicy romance but wanted a little more storyline. Several things happened that simply stopped with no further explanation. They just triggered my curiosity and I felt some further explanation would have made me feel like I hadn’t missed out on something when the story ended. I have read one other book by Candace and loved it. I loved this one as well. Elizabeth has changed her whole life for her boyfriend. She quit her job and moved across the country with him. Then finds him cheating after only a few days. When a cowboy, Alex comes along and offers her a night of fun with no strings she accepts. Alex knows right away that Elizabeth is his mate. He fights the need to claim her during their night together. Elizabeth goes back home as she feels she has nothing in this new place. No one seems to like her there anyway. Going home doesn’t last long. She no longer feels like it is home anymore and can’t stop thinking about Alex. Then she gets a surprise. Looks like she is going to see Alex again. This book was a great quick read. Alex and Elizabeth have an instant connection. Elizabeth doesn’t quite understand why she feels so strongly for Alex so quickly. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Great job Candace.

This is where Alex finds her sitting on the kerb of the parking lot. He saw her earlier and recognised she was his mate. They have a one night stand even though he needs her to stay she doesn’t 3 months later she is back with a surprise for him and he has one for her as well.

I liked the premise of this book, it is a secret baby book. However, this isn't the type of book where it's kept secret that long which I liked.
Both characters were fun to read about and their chemistry was off the charts. I liked the banter these two also had.
I liked that they showed Alex as a man who likes the ladies until he met his mate. From here, you new he was going to be a committed man. My complaint about this was, I felt like he let her go too easily.
The reason I took a start away was I felt it ended too abruptly. I was invested in this couple and it just ended.

A quick read but still amazing. Very hot. Moving to a small town for you boyfriend only to catch him red handed cheating in you. Yeah, not a good feeling at all. But meeting Alex...that changes her life. AnD a one nigh stand leaves her with a souvenir. But alex has a secret. Hes a bear shifter...can she handle him amd learning shes his mate?!

Elizabeth left everything behind in DC to move with her boyfriend Sam to Wyoming. When she finds Sam doing the dirty with another woman, she finds herself with a cowboy she just saw at the rodeo. Alex spotted her at the rodeo and knows she is his mate, so when he finds her outside crying in the dark their HEA begins.

It has been a long time since I have read (listened) to a Shifter story. This very short story was okay. I would have enjoyed it much more if it was fleshed out a bit more and didn't end so abruptly. I was left wondering if the brothers tried anything more and Elizabeth's reaction to the differences in the pregnancy.

I quite enjoyed this feel good story with some fun characters. However the book didn't really contain any conflict drama or excitement everything really went too easily. A little added excitement of more than boy meets girl she gets pregnant and happy ever after definitely would have made this much better.

Wanted an Epilogue
I'm glad they found each other especially after Elizabeth caught Sam cheating. But it felt very rushed from Alex and Elizabeth having a ONS to her leaving and coming back 3 months later. He claims her right away with an I love you. Why couldn't there have been an Epilogue and we find out what happened with the ranch, the brother, and the baby being born?

The first story was good. Little did I know. It was followed by a bunch of short stories. They kinda go so far. They then want you To want to buy there books. To see the couples future in more book.

Seriously? 95 pages?!? The writing was good. I expected more. It left all these plot holes! So much potential, fell short. Literally. And the included free books were samples/ partial books. I would be really upset if I paid for this mess and it wasn’t included for free with kindle unlimited.

Fun short read
My only complaint is that I wish it was longer. I feel like I barely got to know the characters and then it was over. I really liked the characters and I hope they will show up on the next stories and I will find out more about this ranch.

Wonderful Love Story!
I love bear shifter stories, Alex and Elizabeth are an awesome couple. He had a responsibility to the Long ranch along with his three brothers. He met Elizabeth at the rodeo, crying after her ex had cheated on her. This book is worth the read!
