Dane Donovan is in Paris, but he is not starting over. Neither is he looking back. He’s picking up where he left off and now, more than ever, is determined to get it right. Four years ago she was a mistake, so running into Zera at the place where they first met now, cannot be good. Unfortunately for Dane, walking away may not be an option this time around.
To bring her cousin home, Zera Kennedy would give up everything she worked for…including the first man to capture her heart. But now that the kidnapper’s trail has gone cold, Zera is not sure she’ll be able to achieve her goal, and until she does, returning to her home in Kenya is not an option. Neither is staying away from Dane Donovan once he walks back into her life.
But the moment they both let down their guard and believe in the love that gives them a new look on life, fear invades their tender reunion and threatens every kiss, every moan, every…breath they take.
AC Arthur has worked as a paralegal in every field of law since high school, but her first love is and will always be writing romance. She’s written and won awards for her acclaimed Donovans and Shadow Shifters contemporary and paranormal romance series. Under her pen name, Lacey Baker, she created the quaint small town of Sweetland and wrote the novelization for the Original Hallmark Channel Movie, A Gingerbread Romance.
After years of hosting reader appreciation events, AC created the One Love Reunion, an event designed to bring readers and authors together to celebrate their love of books.
AC resides in Maryland with her family, where she’s currently working on her next book…or watching Criminal Minds.
AC Arthur has done it again. She brought the love story one always expect with a suspenseful storyline that just won’t quit. This story kept me on the edge of my seat til the very end. I can’t wait to see what going to happen next in the #DonovanDynasty series. Brava Ms. Arthur on a job well done!
This is the first book of the Donovan Dynasty series. The suspenseful tone of the book is set when Dane Donovan and Zera Kennedy encounter each other in the first scene at the very place where they met four years prior. The Author has written the beginning to have the reader thinking “what the heck is going on?” Just keep reading and find out. The reader immediately knows there is history between these two. We can’t wait to peel back the layers to find out what it is.
The majority of the book takes place in Paris, which is fitting as one of the most beautiful and romantic cities. The physical scenes are written in a way that goes along with the same suspenseful theme. Despite how strong these two characters are, the Author forces them to be vulnerable.
This book is socially conscious as well and highlights a serious issue related to kidnapping of African girls. This topic is not discussed enough and I appreciate this being a major topic.
The Author stayed true to the suspenseful theme until the final pages. For those who have read books in the Donovan series, there are plenty of updates and memorable secondary characters. Overall, this is a strong start to the Donovan dynasty series and I will be looking out for the next one.
I am so conflicted. I was excited about this book and I bought the audiobook. Between the description and two of my favorite narrators. What could be better?
Well, I started this book on at least 3 different occasions. It did not hold my interest at all. I found myself switching to the ebook, thinking maybe I was zoning out because I was listening instead of reading. I found myself skimming through the ebook because I couldn't get into Zara and Dane. I felt no connection, no chemistry, nothing intriguing or engaging.
The situation with Emmett came as no great surprise. The "surprise" at the end was no surprise.
The only thing I could think (and I could be wrong) was that since this was my first Donovan family book, I wasn't in tune. Maybe I needed to start at the beginning of the Donovan family series to appreciate the characters. I have a couple of the other Donovan Dynasty books, but I am hesitant to read them for fear of being disappointed. I think I will revisit this series at a later date.
I am rating this at 2.5 stars. I was disappointed, but feel like I should have enjoyed this book. Not logical. I just hate to give it only 2 stars. I encourage you to read the text with an open mind and form your own opinion. Don't simply take my word for it - take a chance and draw your own conclusions.

Four years ago she was a mistake, so running into Zera at the place where they first met now, cannot be good. Unfortunately for Dane, walking away may not be an option this time around. To bring her cousin Hairi home, Zera Kennedy would give up everything she worked for in the FBI, hence the 4-year leave…and including the first man to capture her heart. But now that the kidnapper’s trail has gone cold, Zera is not sure she’ll be able to achieve her goal, and until she does, returning to her home in Kenya is not an option. really need to have read the previous novels to understand what’s constantly referenced in this book; doesn't make much sense as a read-alone

There are layers to DANE. A.C. Arthur brought us what we have come to expect, suspense, drama, family commitment, empowerment, with a wealth of emotions.
Without giving key elements away, I will say Zera was the best fit for DANE. Suri definitely deserves a story. The Donovan's of the UK are just as intriguing and loyal as those in the states.
Zera as a person is bad to the bone and savvy. You appreciate here resolve to do what's right. It's important to go beyond the surface.
Dane after accepting that no one chooses their families and this new adventure would lead to a world of acceptance would be exactly what he needs to open his heart to love.
You'll like the story from a layered perspective. As it brings in modern day truths regarding sex trafficking and how it's a global problem. You'll see how betrayal plays a role in decisions and how terror rules the day. Yet the love or road to love between Dane and Zera is not compromised.
I love me some Dane. However, Trent will always be my favorite. I was hoping he and His partner would show up to help Dane out. Zera was a different character i didn't identify with her. I liked her but I could not connect with her. I gave 5 stars because I enjoyed all the relatives coming together. Plus I didn't know much about the other cousins. I was so glad to see Linc included. Also, I love the writing of Ms. Arthur. Cannot wait for the next one in series hope it is Cade. I hope more of the original Donovans are included because we as readers identified with them and learned to love them because they were always in each others stories. In order for us to get to love Dane the same way, we need to see more interaction with The family. Sometimes during this story, the emotional feelings felt forced not genuine. Well that's just my opinion. Keep writing.
I thought I reviewed this book previously yet this section stood blank. I am glad that the mental illness that plagued Dane's mother and sister did not affect him. I believe his forgiving spirit had much to do with Dane not falling victim to his mother's brand of crazy. Unrequited love took a real deadly, deceptive and revengeful turn with our hero's mother. One of the things I was gratified by was that once it was proven just which Donovan was Dane's dad he stepped up to the plate and in the end forged a close bond with his son. Our heroine totally captured my heart despite her less than honest interaction with our hero I found myself rooting for her. I was glad her work against the human traffickers of young women all over the world paid off. I was too proud of her surprise at the end. Another great story Ms Arthur, another great story indeed.
The first book in the Donovan Dynasty comes out the gate running. Dane Donovan has found his place with the Donovans and is now overseas to form a new business venture with his UK Donovan cousins. Little does he realize a trip to the museum will have him see a beautiful blast from his past, Zera. Dane is surprised that he sees Zera in the same place they initially met and he realizes the spark is still there. The two embark on a journey with secrets that will place them in danger. Zera is determine to bring her cousin home but also wants to explore her feelings for Dane.
I enjoyed reading Dane's story and finally seeing he found his family and eventually reunited with a past love. He has been through a lot and needed to find a connection and sense of belonging with the Donovans. Good to see introduction of the UK Donovans. Can't wait for the next installment.
Zera and Dane’s love story is laced with a little mystery and a lot of suspense. Throughout the story you find yourself asking, “Who is Zera?” and “Will they find Hiari?”
Dane discovering the inevitable ties of family and learning to let go of the past so he can live now. Zera fighting to keep a promise to family. And as they navigate their individual journey m, they reacquaint and rekindle a love they’ve denied.
A wonderfully crafted story of love, family, purpose, and destiny. Well developed characters that speak to the heart. I found myself praying to very page, that the reunification would be realized. A storyline with a plot that is intriguing. The writing style is flowing and engaging. Overall, the book was a winner.
This is the first installment of the new series of the Donovan Dynasty. I really enjoyed Dane story and it met all of my expectations and then some. This was the perfect woman for such emotional detached lead.
If you enjoy reading a well developed story line, characters that are multidimensional, while two people are falling in love then this should be your next book.
I have read all of the the Donovan stories and I am very excited for this new Dynasty... I hope Cade is next 😘
This book was not about Dane. I couldn't finish it. Omg!!!! Painfully hard to read. Who cares about Zero's cousin. I got sick of how rich they were. I wanted to read about Dane!!! Not Zero. First time reading this author's book. Will not recommend. BORING!!!. When Danes cousin had on yellow shoes, red high waist skirt , white puff sleeves, yellow shoes, first thing comes to mind is CLOWN!!!! Lol. Zero was an A$$. I gave two stars because I felt generous.
I enjoyed this first installment of the Donovan Dynasty! The reconnect between Zera and Dane was uncanny. Meeting the same place and connecting in the same way that they did four years before showed that when something is to happen whether good or bad, it will, you just have to accept it and flow with it. Zera's determination to find her cousin and Dane's realization of his love for Zera helped this book to be emotional, sensual and somewhat funny at times. I enjoyed it!
At the age of 40 pulse, Dane Donovan is in a good place with, his life, his businesses accepting he is a part of the dynamic Donovan family. A ghost from the past reappears interrupting, causing chaos as beautiful as she is, will Dane wall away. As this drama unfolds, the twists, and secrets will keep you reading. Auntie Birdie will endear herself to you. I have been reading A C Arthur, since the early 2000's this is one of her best. Going to read Roak's story.
So happy Dane got a story! And it was a good one. We already know that A.C. Arthur can write a good story, but her romantic suspense skills are on point. While I had a fleeting thought that someone close to Zera may have been involved, I was completely surprised by who the 'bad guy's was. I was totally expecting the mob boss, and never saw the other guy coming. Well done!
Excited about this new squad of Donovans and their stories. I already know they're gonna be just as intriguing as the other crew.
Dane is the first book in the Donovan Dynasty series, however for those who have read the Donovan Family series, Dane is not a new character. This was a really good book. I liked how A.C. Arthur was able to tell his story without relying on previous story lines. There is a brief history of how he came to be where he is now, for new readers. But the story itself was fresh and new. Zera is a new character who has a very shady past. Her previous relationship with Dane has left impressions on both their lives and the secrets she is carrying definitely impacts their future.
This is a romantic suspense book at it best. The action and intrigue are non-stop and the twist towards the end had me clutching my pearls. I couldn't believe I hadn't figured it out, but that is just how good A.C. Arthur writes. Kudos for Dane.
This book was a great introduction into the next generation of Donovan's. The story was moving and told the truth about human trafficking. It was a great love story and the evil inside of people selling young women bought tears to my eyes. The love among this family was amazing including the two main characters.
This book is so good!! I am so glad that I read it and starting on the series. Love that Dane is finding his family and his girl is looking for her cousin. The book is so engaging you don’t want to put it down. The end has such a surprise for the reader and Dane girl. Have to go and head to the next book in the series.
I could relate to this book, because there is nothing like family love. The story is about girls being sold.. It makes me sad just to think about how a persons can be so heartless. We have to keep praying to GOD for people that are heartless and for the family that have to live with not knowing what happened to there family member.😭🙏🏾
I have always loved the Donovan series by AC Arthur and I’m loving the Dane story as well as the additional stories to follow!! I can’t wait.. this book is a must read
A Donovan Dynasty was a well written book that will capture your attention from beginning to end. I enjoyed reading about Dane and his true love Zera book and can't wait for the next book.
Great job as always, AC. Dane and Zera' s story was full of drama and suspense . Not your typical love story but will keep you wanting more. Looking forward to your next book.
Dane love story with Zera was so intense. If you are looking for love, passion with twist and turns then this is definitely the book for you. I'm so excited that Dane finally found happiness.
This was a wonderful read and a great start to a new spin off series. Dane’s mother and sister were the villains f the original series and this new start is a great way to show the new generation of Donovan’s.
I think I have read almost all the books by this author. This is a good one that added to the legacy of the Donavan series. Worth reading. I look forward to the next book.
The story was a good story, it wasn't great though. A lot of reminders of who the Donovans were. Too many in fact. It would've been nice to have some extra details on the couple. Build a more solid love connection. I liked them, I did not love this story.
Poor Zera put so much pressure on herself! I'm so glad her and Dane reconnected and they were there for each other! Love how the book ended! Waiting for the next Donovan book!
Wow I feel like I know him personally, I’ve been rooting for him since I found out that he really just wanted to know who his father was. He wasn’t on the same games as his mom and sister. I’m so happy for him. Great read.
Excellent read, I loved the storyline and characters. Dane and Zera are a great match. They have a lot of chemistry. I love the Donavan’s and look forward to the next book.
I love the Donovan family. Each story is just as intense and steamy as the others. This book spoke on a epidemic that is horrific and no longer a international threat. Human trafficking is real and law enforcement must do more to stop it.
