Dragon Origins #2

Dionna's Mage

Rate this book
Five sexy soldiers — a Warrior, a Frost Mage, a Tinker, a Ranger, and a Shadow — fight alongside Dionna in this Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance.

Dionna’s finally getting the hang of being in an elite Dragon Quint. So why did the Archon have to go and foul it up?

After their victory at the Academy, the Ninety-First Quintelaide returns home as heroes. Dionna’s name is on everyone’s lips: the girl who killed a Silithik Queen. And their discovery of the hive portals — and the tunnels that made them possible — has allowed the Archenon to squash any other sneak attacks.

But their troubles are only beginning. The Silithik are tearing through Archenon territory in the north-west, and the eastern front is beginning to falter. When it comes time to finally receive their marching orders, the Ninety-First is champing at the bit to learn where they’ll be deployed.

Instead, they learn the Archon has other plans for them.

As they struggle with their new mission, Dionna needs to find out what’s tormenting Arthur — because something is clearly eating away at the Frost Mage. Can she discover what it is in time to stop him, or will she — and the rest of the Ninety-First Quintelaide — discover the truth too late?

DRAGON ORIGINS is the new Reverse Harem Dragon Shifter Romance series from Ruby Ryan. It has heart-stopping medieval warfare, an exciting and unique magic system, and all the steamy romance you’ve come to expect from a Reverse Harem. With five dashing men to choose from — the mighty Warrior Jaxon, the thoughtful Frost Mage Arthur, the precise Ranger Harry, the easy-to-smile Tinker Maze, and the sly and cunning Shadow Ryon — who will win Dionna's heart?

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Book two in the Dragons Origins series and things are really getting good now. After the events of book one the guys have mostly accepted that they have to bind with Dionna in order to not go crazy. Things are not that simple though as they fight to get to bonding ceremony, survive politics, and much more before they can finally become a true team again. Even that cannot solve all their problems as those in charge play their mind games and send them on suicide missions. The personal growth amongst the characters in the middle of all of this was great as they start to draw closer to one another. I can't wait until she works things out with all of them as I fell like this group is really going to be able to accomplish some awesome things in future installments. I highly recommend it to those that like lots of fighting in between the interactions and steamy things. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.

I am really enjoying this series!!! The Gryphon twist was a surprise but at the same time expected. I mean she's an "average" girl and both books go on and on about her being average and nothing special (it's sort of annoying in a way because the model used in the cover art is beautiful so it seems in a way similar to BBW books that go on and on about how lovely their curves are, I'm fat-ish no way around it but they drone on and on so much about it that it becomes like nails on a chalk board). But the average thing is the main reason why I won't give the first two books 5 stars, if the next books tone that down (specially her own mental monologue) then they will for sure get the 5 stars (well unless the writer all of a sudden changes her writing and stuff).

Great follow up to a great series..

This series really is action packed and fascinating! The author describes the scenes, people, places, etc in great detail so you really get an idea of it all in your head.

A couple little things is some basic editing was over looked and the author describes this as a steamy reverse harem romance and I don't think 1 sex scene equals steamy. Otherwise, great book and series that I look forward to continuing to read.

This is a continuation of Dionna’s wonderful story! And it keeps getting better! Dionna was a talented fire-wielding sorcerous “pyromancer”. The other five professions invoked straightforward skills with little extra thought required in battle. But her skillset was the most complicated. A pyromancer had various decisions to make and a toolset of specific skills to evoke which would affect the survival or destruction of his or her team. The ceasefire with the enemy Silithik was not expected to last, and at graduation, Dionna was given one of the pyromancer positions in an elite Dragon Quintelaide unit, assigned to one of the elite fighting units, but well aware that she was not necessarily ready for this.

On their way to the capitol to complete the Quintelaide bonding ceremony and get their orders, they ran into part of the Silithik army that had just surfaced. Now riding at top speed through the forest, pursued by the Silithik, Dionna was unable to trace at this speed with the runetablet. Fortunately, Arthur somehow managed to form a blue frostspike and hurl it toward the enemy, freezing them as it shattered and spread its power out. But the others still behind crashed over top of the frozen creatures and relentlessly continued following them. Dionna wanted to turn and do battle with the army right there, but racing to defend the capitol was their top priority. It still felt like running away to her. She was frustrated at not being able to help, but runetracing required precise fingertips accurately moving along the carved runes at the correct pace or it would fail – and being calm was a definite requirement which was kind of hard to do while racing through the woods! It started to look as if they would be surrounded and cut off soon.

Then they burst from the trees and saw the capitol under attack ahead! Despite all they did to slow the Silithik army behind them, they just kept coming. Now was the time to make a stand. Dionna sat upright as she and Arthur detected runetracing ahead of them!! Another Quintelaide was in a tight circle ahead, fighting the Silithik. They joined in and defeated the remaining bugs, then prepared a joint fight against the army coming out of the forest.

There is a love story in this book that will melt the reader as Arthur and Dionna deal with insecurities and fears about what will be faced in the future. Arthur’s dreams have him on edge. Dionna’s lack of faith in the strength of her own talents have her distracted. Can these things be resolved and allow them to move forward? Can they defeat the Silithik warriors that so outnumber them in this battle? It appears Book 2 is strongly moving forward and that this series is well on its way to being another excellent one for the author. Don’t miss it – there is more action ahead!

I came across Dionna's Warrior, the first book of Ruby Ryan’s Dragon Origins on one of the freebie sites and, since it was free, figured “why not?” and tried it. Happy day for me as it was the perfect reverse harem romance and pulled me right in. The good news is that Dionna's Mage (Dragon Origins Book 2) is just as good. The bad news? It’s an addictive substance so be warned. Dionna and her yummy guys of the Ninety-First Quintelaide (Jaxon the warrior, Arthur the frost mage, Harry the ranger, Maxe the tinker and Ryon the shadow) are in for an interesting time and we readers get the benefit. Hot romance, action, adventure, medieval warfare, a really cool and imaginative magic system and superb world-building all wrapped up in a well written plot that does a great job of advancing what’s clearly going to be a great story arc. Yup, this book has it all. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is book 2 of the Dragon Origin’s and this story is getting better and better as it goes along, it’s a continuation of book 1. This is such a fast paced story with some hot sizzling scenes. The 91st are heroes but the Archon are setting them up for another mission which could possibly end in their deaths, that is what Arthur see’s in his visions the death of him and Dionna. Arthur is in love with her but he believes to save her life he has to push her away out of his life. There’s plenty of fighting in this story especially with the Silithik a creepy lot of bugs, there’s also a bit of loving but not too much that it overtake’s the story. A fantastic read and I can’t wait to see what Ruby Ryan brings out next, a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Dionna is on the verge of big things. Since saving the Academy from a queen of the Silithik, she has been asked to join a Dragon Quintelaide, a high ranking group of 5 others with their own specialties, hers being a Pyromancer, able to cast fire spells with the aid of her rune tablet. The problem? She is young, inexperienced and replacing a beloved, powerful Pyromancer.

She already has a relationship with the warrior, Jaxon, but will she earn the respect and trust of the others before it’s too late? Not only are they at war with the beetle-like Silithik, but forces from within the Capitol are at work to tear them apart before they even get their first assignment.

I loved this second book in the saga of Dionna and her Quintelaide. As the story continues, Dionna and her men continue to struggle with both internal and external pressures. While Dionna and the Quintelaide work to solidify their bond and become a cohesive team, they face politics, secrets, and uncertainty. I love the world the author has created with its magic and mythical creatures. I love the idea of a group of men and one woman all with different, specific, and vital skills that they must use together to succeed. The book has action, suspense, and mystery; and it kept me enthralled from start to finish. I am eager for more of the story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest, voluntary review.

I have been really enjoying this reverse harem. Dionna is really wanting to build relationships with her teammates and finds herself questioning who she wants as more than a friend. You really get to know more about Arthur in this second book in the series.

It is very well written with a great mix of adventure and romance. I like that the story is told from multiple characters points of view so you get a more intimate look at the characters. I am eager to read the next book.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

Dionna’s Mage: A Reverse Harem Romance by Ruby Ryan

I want to know what happens next… What more do you need to know from a review? Seriously, I enjoyed the convoluted story-line. There are twists and turns, mystery and adventure, along with wonderful characters and some emotional angst. A fantastic fantasy ready, with adult themes. No spoilers here, so read the blurb if you need to know more about the story-line. Another pat on the back for Ms Ryan.

A entertaining read with likable characters and a complex, fully developed world. This reverse harem story offers a unique blend of drama, romance, action, the mythical and the magical. This is the second book in this series and it continues the story from book one. It mainly focuses on Dionna and Arthur. I'm posting an honest, voluntary review.

The second book in the series. This one brings more of the frost mage and his relationship with Dionna. He has feelings for her and they are growing, but one reoccurring dream may ruin it all. Dionna’s character is also growing. She is realizing her role and what she is capable of. Lots of action fighting the bugs. And a few hot scenes.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

Story is packed with adventure. While it is is RH-themed, the plot is more dominant than the sex scenes. That’s not to say that it is not steamy. The sex scenes are detailed but not dirty. However, the book is event-driven and allows for character development. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

Nightmare or Prophesy?

This is the question that Arthur must answer.

With the Archon still playing his cruel game with their Quint, the six of them must pull together and solve the problems facing them.

I'm really loving all of the characters more and more as I continue to read. I wasn't sure how I would feel after reading the gryphon stories first, I hated the dragons. I cannot wait for the next book.

First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

This story is gr8. This is book 2 and it's a continuation from book 1. I guess it could be read as a standalone, but truthfully who would want to. In book 1, Dionna met the 91st Quintalade & this story was more to do with her connection to the warrior, Jax. This story is more of the war with the Silithik, bugs, and about her connection to the frost mage, Arthur. He’s kind of like “Mr. Spock” all logical and such, but he has a sweetness about him for Dionna. I really enjoyed this story very much and can't wait for the next. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.

A truly marvelous series!!

I fell in love with Dionna in “Dionna’s Warrior,” this love was firmly cemented in Dionna’s Mage; I’m impatiently waiting for Dionna’s Tinker. Dionna is impossible not to love! She has so much courage, bravery, hutzpah, and love in her that it leaps off the page! The world that Ryan has created is absolutely glorious and melds old world magical medievalry with heart pounding adventure mystery and action lore! Dionna’s Quint members are all wonderful in their uniqueness and character traits! Arthur is a contrast of wonderful proportions. The reserved, logic driven mage from the first novel comes alive in this installment (his book). We get to see the vulnerable and soft side of Arthur as he falls in love with (for who would not love her? 🙂) Dionna his new Pyromancer. Watching them dance around their attraction is thrilling, and heart wrenching. We watch Dionna struggle and grow with her insecurities and watch Arthur struggle with his growing attraction and love for Dionna while fighting his fear for a terrible future that has been revealed to him. My only small complaint....I missed Jaxon in this installment, lol, even though I knew this was Arthur’s turn, I still missed the strong gruff warrior! I cannot wait for Dionna’s story to continue in Dionna’s Tinker!

Dionna's Mage, the second book in this prequel series, to Gryphons vs Dragons series that tells the story how the feud came to be, picks up where Dionna ended. The attack on the Capital is repealed. The 91st, are heroes. Dionna and her Quint bond. The Archon malice has them confined to the Capital, where he uses them as scapegoats for failures in the war.
Dionna spends her time training, with Arthur's help. Arthur's feeling for Dionna grow, but he is haunted by a reoccurring dream. The stronger his feeling for her because, the clearer the dream, and he sees their death. Arthur pushed Dionna away.
Arthur and Doinna, both visit a fortune teller. Arthur's fears are confirmed, while Dionna's are laid to rest.
They are handed a mission with impossible odds, that is clearly designed to end in failure and their deaths. Arthur's has dreamed of and is determined to change it. He never saw the Gryphon.
Loved Dionna and Arthur. Fast paced and a little steamy. Looking forward to the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from Booksprout. Ruby Ryan's books are an automatic buy for me. I know I will get a great story that I will want to read again.

ACTION PACKED STORY AND SERIES
The Archon still has something against them and now wants to send them on a mission where they will certainly be slaughtered. The 91st Dragon Quintelaide has finely been bouned all together. There is Dionna the Pyromancer, Jaxon the warrior who is excellent with his sword, Maze is a tinker with all things mechanical, Harry is the Ranger and he can't miss with his bow & arrows, Ryon is the Shadow Warrior and he uses knives and then there Arthur who us the Frost Magi.. Such a great story and I really like this series. Can't wait to read the next one.
