Quotes: "Tip #298: Preventing COVID-19, Norovirus and Zika. Practice good hygiene everywhere you go. Wash your hands frequently and use the hand sanitizers that the ship provides to avoid picking up anything off of railings, doors, chairs and tabletops. COVID has drastically changed how the cruise lines feed and entertain their patrons. Constant sanitizing greatly decreases your chances of catching any contagious virus. Also, when you head into ports of call, plan on taking a few personal hygiene items with you, such as a small bottle of hand sanitizer, protective masks, toilet paper, small hand towel or some wet naps."
"Tip #70: Best Days to Fly? Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be the cheapest days to actually fly. Fridays and Saturdays are often more expensive. Most cruise vacationers fly in a few hours to a day before their departure. We’ve found that by flying in mid-week what we save on airfare pays for an extra night’s stay at a hotel or AirBnB. That extra vacation time spent unwinding before our cruise makes our entire vacation that much more relaxing and memorable, wouldn’t you agree?"

My thoughts: 🔖Page 20 of 111 Ch. 4 Finding Your Cruise - This book is pretty much FAQ under various subject chapters. It's easy to read and very informative so far. 🔖32 Ch. 6 Packing Your Bags - The last chapter was very helpful. I'm adding many of these tips to my plans. Only stopping because it's too late to read.
This book is written in a Q&A format but instead of long questions, it's short tips with short paragraph explanations. Some are written as tips, "Verify Who Your Neighbors Are," and others are written as questions, "Sensitive to Motion Sickness." Of all of the books I've read so far, this is the one that I'm not only going to revisit next year, but it made my packing list and will be my go-to on board.
Recommend to others: Yes! This has been the most helpful cruise travel guidebook I've read to date. Cruisers should absolutely read it.
I've read a ton of cruise tips/tricks/hacks books in preparation for my upcoming cruise of Italy and The Greek Isles. This book had similar information but was laid out so much better! It's a great resource!
Some good information for 1st time cruisers, some bad (such as a suggestion how to smuggle drugs and alcohol on board). This book is very focused on Caribbean/Mexico cruises, as it is frequently mentioned that so many places will take "greenbacks" in place of local currency. There are repeated "hacks" and a few outdated recommendations. One such recommendation is to bring travelers checks -many people don't even know what they are these days.
I rate this book 3.5 stars. Easy read, straightforward bite-sized tips. Great for people interested in cruising and those wanting to hear about other cruisers experiences. The information could have been better organized and presented into categories such as TIPS: before, during and after within each chapter. Author shares a blurb at the beginning of the chapter and then lists the tips in each of the 19 chapters. Formatting the layout of the text does not meet traditional publication standards. I found that without the flush-right column, the jagged edge throughout the entire read made for a big distraction for me. Otherwise, good content is chunked into bite-sized and informative pieces for those who may be new to cruising.
So very informative! Enjoyed reading the info and learned some things. Can never overlook safety and best practices when traveling . Enjoy your next adventure! Dianne
