Their toxic grandma

The pushy ex-girlfriend

A mysterious woman that cannot be found

. . . and their totally hilarious story about love, astrology, cheating and one tiny box placed under a coconut tree.

Peter is a highly intelligent man who knows his priorities and has plans for everything. Or how his sister Barbara would put it "a nerdy skeptical control freak with android tendencies". When his girlfriend leaves him accusing him of being too stiff and dull, Peter accepts Barbara`s challenge - to be guided for 30 days by her astrologer`s "cosmic wisdom". Determined to prove each other wrong, no matter how crazy the things will get, they discover that not everything is what it seems, including themselves and their close ones.

I loved it! It's modern, fun, naughty, poignant, and a magnificent snapshot of real life. It's zany, fast-paced yet gentle and emotional when it's needed. Absolutely fantastic!

Simply a must-read. This book is really hard to put down. Both charming and hilarious, smart and hysterical, this story is amazing.

It was a really refreshing change to read a story in this genre with this sort of main characters. If it's funny it doesn't mean it should be too naive and this is probably the main reason why I liked it so much. All the characters are so real and believable, they really dragged me into the story ad got under my skin. And still, this is a truly very funny light-read.

All the characters are smart, with their own weaknesses of course, but intelligent people who are trying to do their best. And I like when the main heroine is not some foolish weak woman, depending on someone's mercy. Barbara may be stubborn, but she is really smart, honest, creative and strong, and above all very charming. I loved her way of loving her close ones. Not on some corny or superficial way, she showed she is really there when they needed her. She is just the type I would love to have as a friend. Humorous, direct, but loyal and delightful.

As for Peter, he reminds me of someone I know very well. And this is exactly how that someone would react if I would put him in the same situation. 🙂 Grandmother Marie is a star. She is certainly not the mellow grandma from children's picture books and that makes her irresistible. That woman is funny as hell. Their mom so believably represents how all mothers are functioning, they may be sometimes annoying to the children with their good intentions, but behind it, there is always pure love.

It made me laugh, it made me wonder, it made me dream. This story is a really wonderful read.

This was something refreshingly different to my usual read. I quite enjoyed it. The characters were fun to get to know and the storyline was unusual but very well written. Would recommend.

Behind the Stars is profound, and beautiful read, a kind of thrilling adventure and the unlikeliest of romantic stories. Book is absolutely hilarious and I strongly recommend it for reading.

This novel is absolutely hilarious! Possibly one of the funniest books I've ever read.
All characters are colorful, interesting and so charming. I loved how every one of them had those tiny flaws and weaknesses that we all have.
And I'm still not sure who's my favorite, the cheeky Barbara, confused and out-of-his-mind Peter or their grandma – that woman is simply hysterical.

The twist – I wouldn't expect that in million years, brilliant!

Ich liebe diese Art von Humor. Schräge, aber herzensgute Menschen, die unverstellt sind, hat man heutzutage selten.
Wem der Film "Vincent will Meer" gefiel, wird dieses Buch mögen.

Finally, some written words that immerse you in real life but lift you up 5 feet above the ground! I simply loved it from the first page. Witty, funny, inspiring and above all - spiritrising. A good read, indeed!

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a really good laugh. I'm usually not the one for romance books but how it involved a geeky character I've decided to give it a try. Speaking as a man to other men, this is actually not a romance book - it's pure comedy! With the romantic end. And I was actually surprised that I enjoyed immensely from the first page to the last. I honestly can't remember last time when a book made me actually laugh out loud so many times.

The story and its characters are honestly well-written and truly believable. Peter is still my favorite character, someone with who I could actually relate to, but I must admit that the whole family is a blast. Granna Marie is pure gold. Not sure if I would want her to be my grandma but as a character she is hilarious. I liked the whole cycle between Peter and Esther because this is how the things are actually going in the real life. Must say that the twist was so unexpected that I started to laugh at myself because I was so sure I could guess it.

The book is fast-paced, really funny, surprisingly good, its characters are great, and I just have to give it five stars.

DNF. I seriously have no idea how this is so highly ranked. I only made it to chapter 6 and couldn’t waste another moment of my time.

The POV skips every other sentence, but yet all in the 3rd person. The scenes skip all around but no breaks.

Definite no.
