The Devil's Dires #6

Savage Security

There’s no escaping a Dire Wolf on the hunt...

Dire Wolf Deus likes his quiet, regimented life. He might live in the big city, but interacting with humans isn’t his favorite thing, so he spends most of his time behind the screens of the computers and tech gadgets he loves. At least, when he’s not handling research and missions for Luc, the Dire Pack Alpha.

Zoe follows two rules in life—never trust a pack wolf, and take what you can get. She spends her days living the high life in New York City, but at night, this little wolf becomes a cat. Cat burglar, that is. Her services are for hire, but her heart isn’t. Period.

One soldier living a life behind the screen, one woman hiding from the shadows of her past, and a chance encounter that takes them across the country and beyond. In the world of the Dire Wolves, the man behind the control panel is considered an asset. But when a mission requires a personal touch, Deus will have to leave the security of his world to travel to another, more dangerous one…and not just because he’s met the woman the fates think is perfect for him.

One soldier, one fight…one chance at forever.

A storyteller from the time she could talk, USA Today bestselling author Ellis Leigh grew up among family legends of hauntings, psychics, and love spanning decades. Those stories didn’t always have the happiest of endings, so they inspired her to write about real life, real love, and the difficulties therein. From farmers to werewolves, store clerks to witches—if there’s love to be found, she’ll write about it. Ellis lives in the Chicago area with her husband, daughters, and a German Shepherd that refuses to leave her side.

Alaska and Beautiful better know as Deus and Zoe just not to each other...yet!
The computer tech information guy from the Dire Wolf Pack meets his mate and convinces her to go on his dig up info mission in Alaska.
So that means a little danger alot of sex and plenty of secrets and trust issues to keep you spinning.
I really enjoyed this story. It had the right amount of emotional drama and baggage to drag you into the characters and want to uncover the secrets to find out the reasons why too.
If you haven’t read any of theses series I would suggest it. They are a great paranormal romance/drama read with plenty of action and sometimes mystery.

Was received as an ARC from the author. I really appreciate being giving this opportunity to read and review and look forward to the next book. I know Luc’s is going to keep me turning pages too!

BRACE YOURSELF & HANG ON, CAUSE THIS ONE'S A DOOZY!!!
Title: Savage Security - A Dire Wolves Mission
Series: The Devil's Dires
Author: Ellis Leigh
Designation: Book 6 of Series, Full-Length, Standalone, No Cliffhanger
My Rating: FIVE SINFULLY SEXY STARS*****
Oh my! We have a riveting new mission and another swoony new hero! Ellis Leigh totally rocked my world - AGAIN with the sixth riveting release in The Devil's Dires, and folks, Leigh kicked up the heat to a fiery blaze in Savage Security! Somebody call 911 because geek boy Deus was hot, hot, hot! OMG, who knew our boy Deus had such a dirty, sweet-talking mouth, but more about that later! lol... I've been a diehard fan since Leigh began her writing career almost five years ago and her passionate, all-consuming prose still takes my breath away. For anyone familiar with Leigh's work, you may be asking yourself: Why does The Devil's Dires sound familiar? Well, there's actually a very good reason. The Dire Wolves were first introduced as secondary characters in Leigh's Feral Breed Motorcycle Club Series, so we've known of the existence of this small select group of wolf shifters for quite some time; we just didn't know a whole lot about them other than they acted as the Cleaners for the Blasius 'Blaze' Zenne, president of the NALB (North American Lycan Brotherhood). While the Feral Breed MC members act as the enforcers or police for the NALB, the Cleaners are an elite strategic group created by Blaze as a cover for the seven-member pack of Dire Wolves, a dangerous breed long thought to be extinct. And folks, these wolf shifters are tougher than tough, badder than bad, meaner than mean, and better than the best. They live hard and fight harder. But after a lonely millennia of existence, none of these wolf shifters have ever found their mates - until now.

Series Premise:
The Dires are all handsome, sexy wolf-shifters, but unlike other wolves, the Dire Wolves are a breed among themselves, one shrouded in mystery and now almost extinct with only a small group of seven known to still exist. And all seven of their pack make up an elite team of soldiers, trackers, and hackers who are by far the biggest, baddest, and toughest of any species known to man or wolf. They are better than the best, called upon when the talent and skill of the Feral Breed's finest fall short to successfully accomplish the mission. The Dire Wolves submit to no one yet choose to work for Blasius 'Blaze' Zenne, President of the North American Lycan Brotherhood, the ruling power over all shifters in the country. Their breed owes their loyalty only to each other, but these Dires do hold in high regard one man outside their seven-man pack, and that man is Blasius Zenne. They are loyal to Blaze, not the NALB. They answer only to him when he calls, not because they have to, but because they respect him, choose to bend to his authority and obey his orders. Their duties fall under the purview of Blaze's Cleaners, a unit used to solve certain problems when unparalleled skill and lethal action are required. As the series progresses, we get to know all seven Dire Wolves with each book featuring primarily one member of the team as he embarks on a perilous mission, made even more complicated when he meets his fated mate, the one woman the universe created just for him. Each of these highly principled wolf shifters must face their destinies while their hearts battle between duty to their new found mates, and duty to their mission, as well as to their breed. One Brotherhood... One mission... One man... One mate... One fate... So buckle up, my lovelies, it's a wild ride!

As always when talking about books and authors I enjoy, I digress so let's talk about Savage Security. The story is exciting, imaginative, compelling, fast paced, action packed, suspenseful, sexy, romantic and exceptionally well crafted and edited. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with clearly discernible perspectives from the two protagonists, geek-boy Dire Wolf Asmodeus aka Deus, and beautiful, feisty cat burglar and Omega she-wolf Zophiel aka Zoe. The dialogue is smart, raw, intense, seductive, well executed and flows effortlessly. I love the premise for this series as well as the extraordinary world Leigh has created, but it's the magnificent cast of engaging characters who literally explode from the pages, demand my undivided attention, capture my imagination, and completely steal my heart. And once again, Leigh has outdone herself with our two main characters. As somewhat of a tech geek myself, I've been fascinated with computer nerd, hacker extraordinaire, and security expert Deus since he was first introduced early in the series and have waited with bated breath for his story. And Leigh didn't disappoint! Deus made me swoon with his dirty talk and Zoe is my hero, or I should say heroine. She was not only feisty, fiery, sassy, strong, and independent, but also very intelligent. Smart trumps beauty any day, in my humble opinion, although she was beautiful too! Deus and Zoe were perfect together and complemented each other brilliantly. I felt their connection during their first online interaction, which was before they even officially met, and it only got stronger as the story progressed. It's always hard to pick favorites with any of Leigh's books, but Savage Security is now tied with Savage Sacrifice as my favorite of the series. (Yeah, yeah, I know I say the same thing every time.) All the storylines in The Devil's Dires have been engaging, but once again Leigh totally gutted me with Savage Security. Leigh not only tugged at my heartstrings, she ripped my heart right out of my chest. I was immediately drawn into this story by Deus and Zoe and quickly became emotionally invested in the lives of these two remarkable characters. The banter between these two was beyond entertaining. I never knew what would fly out of their mouths, especially Deus with his filthy, sweet-talking words, but Zoe could hold her own, giving as good as she got. She definitely had Deus' number! There are so many elements that make Leigh's stories great, and she skillfully combines them all to craft a riveting paranormal tale filled to the brim with danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, angst, passion, and romance.

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! I loved the world building and the strong, courageous, larger than life characters Leigh created for this series. It can be read as a standalone but be forewarned, it does have an underlying interconnected conflict with recurring characters throughout the series, so to avoid spoilers, I highly recommend reading the books sequentially. I was completely hooked in the first few pages and quickly found myself totally immersed in the lives of the characters. Leigh is a gifted storyteller and skilled wordsmith - a true master of her trade, always giving readers the perfect combination of danger, action, suspense, humor, romance, and sex. And, of course, leaves us gasping for our next breath and begging for more! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain naughty language and explicit sex scenes. As I said earlier, who knew Deus had such a smutty mouth, but he's a real charmer and I loved every single word! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I loved this story and the characters. I cried for them, empathized with them, laughed with them, cheered for them, shook my fists in anger as they fought their enemies.....and loved every single minute! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Long thought to be extinct, Deus and his six Dire Wolf brothers had learned to be invisible by hiding in plain sight. These seven Dire packmates kept their true identities secret by trusting only each other, except for one man outside their small pack, and that was Blasius Zenne, president of the NALB, the man who helped them maintain their cover. For millennia, they'd suffered a lonely existence, knowing they were the last of their kind, with no hope for family or happiness. But for some unknown reason, fate had finally decided to intervene in their lives. Five of his Dire brothers had recently found their true mates, and all have been Omegas, a variety of wolf thought to be a long-lost relative of the Dires and she-wolves they'd sworn to protect. Unfortunately, it had turned his five pack brothers into lovesick fools, which truth be told, he wouldn't mind becoming himself. Twelve hundred years was a long time to exist without a mate by your side, and he'd long ago given up hope of ever finding his. Even after his five brothers had unexpectedly found the other half of their soul, he'd assumed his mate would never appear. He and his Alpha Luc were destined to be the eternal bachelors of their pack and he was prepared to accept the life he had. But you know what they say - never say never. Fate is a fickle mistress indeed, one who occasionally enjoys having a little fun, and what better way than becoming the ultimate gamemaster, orchestrating a battle of wits between two lone wolves who love nothing more than playing games themselves and prefer the comforts of the always busy concrete jungle of New York City over the solitude of the quiet countryside any day. For a year, fate dangled her carrot in front of a careful Deus, but recently the temptation had proved too great. He could no longer resist the pull to the skilled and obviously intelligent online user calling himself Birdfoot. But Deus knew Birdfoot's secret - Birdfoot was not a him but actually a her, and Deus desperately wanted to meet this elusive female who could hold her own in a male-dominated online world, which came as quite a surprise since he never, ever dated. Little did he know that one short coffee date would change his life forever and result with him on a dangerous mission in Alaska with his little cat burglar - who, as fate would have it, is not a cat at all, but an Omega she-wolf who's also his mate. Oh dear! A lonely Dire Wolf who thought he'd never have a mate and preferred to live his life behind a computer screen, lost in the hustle and bustle of the big city... A woman haunted by horrific nightmares of her past who doesn't mind taking anything she wants, one desperately determined to hold onto her hard-won independence, no matter the cost, even if it means walking away from the mate she never wanted yet nonetheless desires... A vicious enemy from the past hell-bent on revenge... A dangerous date with destiny. One man...one mission...one fate... Things heat up in the wilds of Alaska between these two lonely souls, but did fate get it wrong this time? We'll see!

This is going to be short!

Deus, being the security, computer geek of the seven Dire Wolves, enjoys some online fun playing cyber games and participating in online forums. He particularly enjoys one other participant’s shenanigans. He’s also probably the only one who knows that online figure is a woman. Zoe. A nomad omega wolf shifter.

When Deus need to help Luc in Alaska doing some hands on info digging, he takes Zoe with him. But trouble ensues.

I loved the way some things, like their true identities, are kept secret. Their passion for each other while in their mated haze and trouble brewing in Alaska, makes for more fun and a lot more trust issues.

The story is dynamic, fun, sexy, mysterious, tense and very captivating. Add the Dire Wolf world into the mix and it’s a great read.

I loved Deus's story. It played out just the way it should for this strong wolf. I think Zoe was the perfect foil to him and as an Omega she fits in the pack with the other Dire's mates very well. She might have something to say about pack life, but she has no complaints when it comes to her mate. He is the one for her and she knows it even if she dosn't want to admit it.

Great story from a great story teller!

Out Of The Box!!!

Asmodeus "Deus", a Dire Wolf who liked his quiet life. He lived in the big city, but he wasn't a fan of interacting with the humans. He preferred to spend his time behind the computers' screens as well as the gadgets he loved building.

Like a game site he'd built where he interacted with many players, there was one who'd caught his attention....username was Birdfoot. Turned out it was a woman who made him want to know about her on a more personal level.

Zophiel "Zoe" always followed two rules...never trust a pack wolf and take what she could. She was living a double life, in the day she lived the high life in New York but at night she was a Cat burglar.

Deus discovered one of her heists and offered to do a job with her. She was wondering how he found her but she was also intrigued by him. They decided to meet in person and they both assumed the either was human. So when they finally met face-to-face, it was very interesting. She was an Omega wolf.

When his Alpha Luc asked him to get information on Anuktu, an isolated town in Alaska. Luc felt a pull to the pack there and he wanted to know why. Deus didn't find what he needed so he had to travel to Alaska and that made him feel like a fish out of water.

Zoe knew that there was more to Deus coming to Alaska then he'd let on. As a lone wolf she loved her independence and he knew it. She held back on moving foward with their mating in spite of them and their aninals wanted to be with each other.

What they found on their trip was a piece of Zoe's past. When she learned that her mate belonged to a pack and didn't tell her. She was devastated. Eventually Deus told her why her withheld that information from her. They put all their cards on the table.

There were still some trouble in Alaska, Luc's wolf was feeling uneasy. The search for the she-wolves intensified and still nothing. Deus and his Dire brothers prayed that their Alpha would found some peace soon.

Zoe finally got her mate and the pack she never knew she needed.

SAVAGE SECURITY is the sixth book in Ellis Leigh's DEVIL'S DIRES series. It was adventurous, enticing and oh so engrossing. I felt great to dive back into this series, to catch up old characters and meet new ones. Outstanding job by the author...Two thumbs up!

When love can help heal your past

I loved Deus and Zoe’s intense, swoony, emotional story. At its heart, this book is a story of standoffish and bruised but not broken people who find their way together. It’s a story about the power of choice. Zoe is an Omega who is a cat burglar and a loner. She mistrusts men and packs. Deus is a legendary Dire Wolf and is the tech and security expert for his pack. Zoe and Deus have interacted virtually for years but their first meeting makes them realize they are mates. But there is mistrust especially by Zoe. So much mistrust they do not even share their names. A trip to Alaska to investigate a pack begins the exciting, roller coaster dangerous ride of their HEA where they are trying to deal with the mating frenzy while trying to solve a mystery and fighting the bad guys. This book has a little bit of everything you’d expect from romantic suspense - sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous action, strong friendships, painful pasts, mystery, plot twists, uber protective men, imperfect characters, and even a few chuckles. The story was well written, the characters had depth and growth, and the storyline was engaging. I will definitely keep reading this series.

Sin, Sex and lust

I've waited awhile for Deus book and was not disappointed. Ellis wrote her butt off in this book. She enthralled me with Zoe as a hot, firey, sexy shewolf. And not only a Sherwood of course she had to be an Omega. What other wolf can be a Dire wolf's companion. She's stubborn and smart. I love how he lets her be in charge when the need calls for it. neither knew who each other were but we're drawn to each other before they even met up face to face. It's all fun a sex until someone threatens your mate. They met have started off just interested in each other but it all changes when they meet each other. Then they take a trip to Alaska to scope out information and to back up Luc, Deus alpha. This journey brings so many emotions that have your head spinning. The sex is off the chain. The list have you sweating and all is so full of sin in some of their works they do but hey everybody has to eat. You really want to get this book. If only to read Deus come for his mate and fight off a group of mufftard mangy wolves.

Deus is the Dire’s IT guy and hacker extraordinaire… he is on the dark web a lot and so is she… he steals money slowly and with intent, she sets up a heist then in a blink she is gone. He has been fascinated with her for over a year, but never met her.. he had created a game to entice her to play and she does!
He feels the need to make contact just when his boss tells him to get to Alaska to scope out an isolated pack… they meet in a coffee shop and she knows before he enters the shop that he is her mate, she runs into a bit of trouble, he offers her a trip out of city to Alaska, in his private jet!
She is scared of the mating bond giving him control over her.. but the local pack start threatening her.
So Deus asks her leave to ensure her safety… he sends her to Bez and Sariel
Deus tries to help Luc find the two women the pack are hiding, all the Dires are taking turns helping …
Deus and Zoe finally complete the bond but the problem in Alaska still stands.
This mating feels like it is secondary to the Alaskan problem.
It feels a bit forced..

Dire wolf shifter Deus lives in the big city and behind the computer screen. High tech gadgets are is life. He is always keeping an eye on his dire brothers.

Zoe is an omega wolf shifter who works as a cat burglar and doesn't trust wolf packs. She has good reasons not to trust them.
Then she meets Deus sparks fly but he has a mission to go on and that might end them before they can even start.
I LOVE the dire wolves series! Great characters. Fantastic action. There is also drama, mystery, intrigue, betrayal, spice and so much more. This is one book you will not be able to put down I know I didn't want to. I can't wait for the next book.
Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

Deus and Zoe

I was waiting on this book! It did not disappoint! Deus is the computer geek of the pack. Zoe is a thief. The way they connect, interact and love is riveting. This book has it all. And it nicely sets up our last (at this time) book on our fearless leader, Luc. Can’t wait!!!

Great Series

I really liked the heroine, called Beautiful. She is not the typical super nice woman. She is strong, independent, and badass. Great character. This was a great love story, with some action. But I prefer stories with complete closure. Hopefully that will come in the next book, which of-course I will be reading.

Cat burglar meets computer hacker. Their connection is so strong it started from words on a screen, long before they ever met in person. Zoe has a few very strong fears, but Deus is just perfect in helping her get through them. I just love all the Dire Wolves and can't wait to see what's in store for Luc.

I have absolutely loved all of the Dire Wolf books and this was no exception! Both Deus and Zoe were forced out of their comfort-zones, in order to reach their HEA, but it was definitely worth the ride! Deus and Zoe were such a great couple and I really enjoyed their story. Can't wait for the next one! Highly Recommended!

Perfect

WOW that was a good book but then all the Dires tales are good. The author puts her heart and soul into these and you can tell. Our hero has been around through the rise and fall of civilizations and yet our heroine brings him to his knees, the best part is he wouldn't have it any other way. It was so good to be back in this world, well worth the wait.

North to Alaska !

“Beautiful” and Alaska’s storyline is one of my favorite Dire wolves reads so far ( though they are all fantastic). Zoe trusts no one and Deus is an enigma. The two of them together are perfect. The storyline rings true for their characters as well as the continuation of the Dire Wolves . I can’t wait for book 7 !

Deus has his perfect match in Zoe. The story swung into full gear right away. I liked that Deus was level headed with Zoe and knew to ask for assistance. I loved Zoe's sass, strength, and independence. I've waited a while for the next Dire Wolf in the series, and it was worth the wait!

So happy to be back in the Dire Wolves world. It's amazing how there characters are written that I never questions how perfect the mates are for one another. Although I was questioning Zoe since she didn't have an angel name, happy to be wrong. Loved every minute of it.

AUDIBLE REVIEW
Great narration but boy, I didn’t realise how much of this story was pure sex when reading this.
I had to speed up the audible as it was just constantly thought about, or acted on, and too much. Blamed on the mating haze but it dragged me away from the story which is a pity and I found the fact Deus was not doing his job properly, due to focusing on his mate, a big annoyance.
Even more obvious how silly and distrusting Deus is in not being honest with Zoe. He is the cause of all Zoe’s upset that happens.
BOOK REVIEW
A wonderfully entertaining read in which another Dire Wolf brother meets his perfect match.
Though not as full of action as we usually get and lacking time with the other Dire Wolves, this was still a really good read with a great build up to the next story.
Zoe has really had a rough start in life and is still having the odd flashback but this doesn’t stop her being a very strong and interesting person.
After starting out so well, Deus really makes a mess of things with Zoe by not opening up and being honest to her. Didn’t need to be all the facts and truth but Zoe needed something to hold onto and Deus did not provide it.
This story seemed a bit of a quick read or I just enjoyed it that much.
I cannot wait to read Luc’s book and find out about these poor women in Alaska and what is going on with the nurse pack.
This is my honest review of this book.
