Marrying a Billionaire

Rate this book
Librarian's Note: This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B07DNQ7M4T

Lillian Brunette is desperate for a job. Six months pregnant and recently divorced, she needs health insurance and an income if she’s ever going to be able to take care of herself and the baby—if what happened to her first pregnancy happens again. So when her best friend tells her that the billionaire bachelor is looking for an assistant, she jumps at the opportunity to interview.

Reed Williamson is trying to get over his broken heart. When he finds out that his fiancée ended up pregnant with his half-brother’s baby, he’s written off all relationships. Which he was doing a good job at until he finds out that in order to inherit his family’s investment company, he has to be married. Out of desperation, Reed’s mom puts in a call to an elite matchmaking agency to find him a contract wife. At least with that, there’s no chance of falling in love.

After an episode of mistaken identity, Lillian finds herself contractually obligated to marry Reed. Which is the ideal relationship for her. Faking a marriage seems easy, until she finds out that Reed is kind and incredibly handsome. And just might be what she wants in a family. If only he could accept the secret she's so desperate to hide.

Ok, all you lovers of stories about marriages of convenience here is a super cute and fun read for you to try. I was hooked from the very beginning with this one. Lillian and Reed were fun characters. Reed was amazing and such a great person. His willingness to give and help others, his selflessness was such a great trait for the author to add to him.

Lillian is recently divorce and pregnant. Her ex-husband didn't want anything to do with the baby. Lillian needs a job desperately and is trying her best. When her best friend sends her to a job interview and a major mix up happens (quite funny how the author wrote it in, I really liked it, it didn't seem too contrived and fake but believable), Lillian is contracted to marry billionaire Reed Williamson.

When they discover the mix up and the lack of ability to get out of the contract, they both agree to jump in and make the best of the situation...except for the fact that Reed has no idea that Lillian is pregnant.

Oh, so many cute scenes in this book. I loved all their scenes together and their budding friendship and sparks of something more developing. I loved having it alternate between their perspectives and seeing both sides of the relationship developing.

Cute story and one I want to dive back into and reread again.

Content: Clean. If I remember right there were a couple mild innuendos but nothing graphic. No sex scenes.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Annoying

This book got two stars because I finished it.
That was the only reason.

The main characters were too annoyingly saccharine and if she blushed one more time I was going to vomit. Also every chapter just seemed to have a different setting with the exact same scenes playing over and over. He wants her. She wants him. But they can't put their hearts out there to get broken. Same scene, different setting. Bleck!

2 stars, Only because I read it till the end. I must be really bored!

Fake marriages are one of my favorite types of stories and I adored this one! Lillian thinks she's going in to apply for a personal assistant and ends up signing a marriage contract. My biggest problem with this book is that Reed demands a promise from Lillian, and promises the same thing in return, but he immediately forgets that vow. His actions are in direct opposition of that pledge, which left me feeling confused.

All that aside, both characters have endured some pretty devastating heartbreak and I enjoyed watching them stumble their way through this contract, especially as they each find hope. Healing takes time and often requires the help of someone else. There are such fun moments in this Cinderella-type story--helicopter rides, private beaches, shopping sprees, and of course, an undeniable chemistry. Wow--I really did love that connection they shared. But what really hooked my heart was the ending and seeing what love really involves.

This is my second book by this author and I'll be back for more because these are fun, enjoyable diversions, which is what I love in my "escape books."

Content: mild romance (implications of previous affairs and some innuendo, kissing)

*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own and were not compensated for in any way.*

I loved Reed and Lillian's personalities. Their past hurts and insecurities combined with their desire and hope for a bright future made this a believable story.
** Spoiler alert. At the end I was feeling frustrated with how far Lillian was willing to push him away however, and how quickly things got cleared up with her ex-husband.
The feelings of being unlovable seemed so realistic it was like we were right there in the room. I enjoyed that this book isn't as passionate and amourous as the previous two in the series. On a steaminess level I would rate it a mild PG-13.

Marrying a Billionaire

These sappy novels are so unrealistic! Who even gets to meet a Billionaire much less a handsome , young, single, looking for a wife. And YOU are exactly right! Ha-ha!

As the third novella of the “A Fake Marriage Series,” this is the best of the three. It is obviously a work of fiction. I can visualize no way that this story could ever happen in real life, but it was an entertaining diversion that kept me involved from beginning to end. Although this is a clean, sweet romance, it has no significant Christian element.

The author lost points with me by a glaring inconsistency relating to the location of the Williamson Estate on an island that can only be reached by helicopter or a thirty-minute boat ride. On short notice, Lillian asks Tamara to come to the mansion to be her bridesmaid and makes no mention that she will need to find a boat to take her to a private island. Additionally, large numbers of the press corps are somehow able to get from downtown New York City, through city traffic, and somehow get to the island in record time.

Then there is the crowning plot flaw. Great care was taken to ensure only an exclusive few people knew that the engagement and marriage between Reed and Lillian was part of a contract that included a financial settlement for Lillian. There was no way Lillian’s ex-husband, Joshua, could have known anything about that arrangement. Yet, Joshua cleverly uses the terms of a contract he knows nothing about to drive a wedge between Lillian and Reed. This plot blunder is over the top.

One of my pet peeves is when authors misuse the word “ground” when they mean something else. In this instance, she wrote, “She spat on the ground but then mopped it up.” The word “ground” means “the solid surface of the earth.” The action took place in an apartment on the 23rd floor so the surface should have been called the “floor.” I know. This pet peeve is very nitpicking. But I feel better now.

If the reader is looking for a quick and entertaining story to relax and enjoy, I recommend this story.

Fake NYC is too distracting for me

I’m stuck on the point that all that is not a realistic view of nyc. The story of love in a week to a billionaire is Fantasy. But that New York City in the story is too much fantasy for me. I know all those places and they are too far away for someone to get around that fast. The author must have looked on a map and said Brooklyn, Long Island and Manhattan are really close together. Therefore it’s reasonable for a child to break their arm in Long Island and go to New York Presbyterian the most well known hospital in the city. Nooooooo. Traffic is so bad that that trip takes 2-3 hours one way. And you pass a number of great hospital inching there in traffic. In NYC you can’t call someone and have the pick you up in 5 minutes. The elevators take that long and again traffic is heavy. The president of the USA with street closures can’t get around that fast. Plus hospitals workers can be fired for giving out patient information. That means no pension, income, federal trouble, and no job. So not worth a $1,000. And that hospital is so big you there is no way two people run into each other like that. Thousands of people work there, that hospital is bigger than many cities. Plus I’m still trying to figure out what island his grandfather owns that’s so close to the city.
Please be careful writing about places and being so far from reality in both story line and location. It’s distracting.

The very beginning and very end.. ✨️swoon✨️

I think, no, I know, my review would be a 4 star if there was not a miscommunication trope, rushed writing, and so much unbelievable stuff.

I know some women carry smaller, but come on.. You have to suspend your belief there for a second.

The plot was interesting to me, but it didn't drag me in like I hoped. It was an entertaining story, for sure. It was well written over all, and the author has *fantastic* ideas.

I really felt for the male protagonist, and my heart broke for him at times. I found myself frustrated with the female protagonist more than once. You're a grown woman. You need to have personal accountability and not lie. Again, though, suspend your belief kind of thing.

At the end of the day, I do recommend this. It was cute. 💓

Book 3 and the series is still going strong.

I really enjoyed the interactions and misunderstandings between the MC's from two different worlds. Lots of great secondary characters, plus a jerk ex-husband round out the story. Nice emotional tugs. My only skeptical sticking point was how far along the heroine was in her pregnancy and still being able to hide it, esp. with the outfits she wore. Not a deal breaker though.

As always, Ms. Meyer tells a well constructed tale with heart.

I keep hoping...I love the ideas of these stories, but they just fall short. This one was better, a lot better, but then it hit a weird place and just wasn’t quite right. It’s cute, just not great

Perfect little cutesy romance. I just wish it hadn't happened in what felt like a week (but it makes sense because it's a short book), but I still enjoyed it.

A fun third book in the Fake Marriage Series! This is a wonderful story about faith, trust, determination, and love. Plus do not forget the sweet romance. Lillian Brunette puts herself out there and gets a bit more than she bargained for. Reed Williamson is not ready for love but finds himself with no option but forced happiness.

I admire Lillian so much. Parents will do anything for their children, even if it means taking chances. She is strong and loveable. Reed is, at first, intimidating and bold, but is a huge softie at heart. You cannot help but love him.

I enjoyed all the twists and turns in this book. I love books where the characters learn to trust and this one is no exception. I look forward to reading more in this series.

*Please note I received a copy of this book. I was under no obligation to review and all opinions are my own.

I love fake romance stories! It is so fun reading about how their relationship evolves admist the struggles of the "arrangement." I really enjoyed this one. It pulled me in from the very beginning. Lillian and Reed are such sweet good people and they are great together. I'm sure you'll enjoy this sweet clean romance.

This was a freebie in the Kindle a while back and so I downloaded it.
I have to say that the new front cover of this book is way prettier than the one that is here in Goodreads. I like the title work on the new cover.
That being said, this was an OK book. This is the first one that I read in this series so I don't know how much I've missed by not reading the others. But from what I've experienced, this story can stand alone on it's own.
In this story we meet Lillian who is a recent divorcee and is expecting a baby. She is looking for a job that can support her and her unborn child. Her friend Tamara suggests that she apply to be a personal assistant to a millionaire named Reed Williamson. When she gets to the interview, she is mistaken by Reed's mother for another person and she ended up signing a contract that was for a totally different "role" in Reed's life.
I have to say that the first part of the book was fun. I liked the mix-up plot. However, after that it became quiet predictable. There's a part that reminds me of "Pretty Woman" the movie where she was snubbed by the sales associate because she didn't look the part of a rich woman.
I also didn't quite care for how our two leads were reacting to each other. One moment they're falling in love, while the other moment they hurt each other with their words and actions because they don't want to fall in love. All the back and forth was quite boring and a little too immature in my eyes.
Overall this was an ok book. Predictable but it has some good parts.

Reed Williamson is in need of a wife, and quick. Lillian Brunette is in need of a job and insurance. When Lillian showed up at Reed's business, she was mistaken for the "contract wife" who had been hired to marry Reed to satisfy his grandfather's stipulation that he be married in order to inherit the family business. The more time that Reed and Lillian spent together, the more they learned to care about each other. Lillian was nothing like any of the girls Reed had dated before. She was like a breath of fresh air and Reed began to want more than just a contract wife that would end when he got what he wanted.

Lillian's ex-husband had divorced her after she had gotten pregnant on the heels of an earlier miscarriage. Reed's long-time girlfriend, Hannah, had slept with his cousin, Mason, and had gotten pregnant. He was not willing to put his hearten the line ever again to get it broken. This was just a means to an end. But, could it be more? Did he want more with Lillian?

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a sweet novella with a happy ending. I was given an arc copy of this book and I am happy to leave my review.

Romance with a contract

The premise of this book had me drooling- couldn’t wait to read it! I loved the idea of this couple’s relationship starting out under the guise of a fake marriage, especially with pregnancy thrown in the mix.

I really liked our hero Reed- handsome, kind and thoughtful, he was a great male protagonist. I had a harder time liking Lillian. She was quiet and sweet but kept pushing Reed away in hurtful ways- I kept wondering why he kept coming back to her for more.

There were definitely some sweet moments in this one. The timeline moved too fast for my taste though. The entire book takes place in about one week, and while I have read romantic plots with similar timelines, this one just didn’t have enough for me. I wish we could have seen them interact more, get to know each other better.

Still a clean romance, but just not enough to it to make the ending believable.

2.7 ~ 2.8⭐
Audiobook

What can I say, I enjoy it for the most part as a cute romance story.

But to be honest our FMC was such a doormat.... Too passive, I feel like she just let her life be dragged by everyone else.
Her "art" interest were so unimportant that I had forgotten she did poetry by the end of the book .....

Our MMC is kind of boring but a softy and boyfriend goals!! I feel like the problem of inheritance was solved so .... That was kind of disappointing.
Also I wanted drama with his "brother" but he was just mentioned for the plot.

Nevertheless I did enjoy the romance and cute moments they had together.

It was a short but cute story... There are still things that were rushed.

Lillian is pregnant and divorced, so she desperately needs a job. Her best friend, Tamara tells her about a personal assistant job for billionaire Reed Williamson. She gets to his office and is rushed through signing the contract before she realizes that she just agreed to be his wife. How is this going to play out, especially with her hiding her pregnancy? I really enjoyed this story and I think fate brought Reed and Lillian together. They think feelings will not come into play, but we know how the best laid plans turn out, lol. Grab your copy and get ready to fall for Reed, just like I did.

Super cute, sweet read about a billionaire who needs a wife if he wants to inherit the company. A common enough trope, usually with a side order of ultra Alpha male that usually turns me off. Not so with this book. Reed, the billionaire, is a genuine sweetheart who puts others first and is nursing a broken heart. I found him likable and worthy of "white knight" status. This, unfortunately, puts a heavy load on the heroine, Lillian because every time she pulls away from him I like her a little less. I cared for her, and understood her own troubles and heavy heart, but I liked her a little less than Reed. Still a thoroughly enjoyable summer read. I highly recommend it.

A Clean Contemporary Billionaire Romance

I really enjoyed getting to know and follow the story between Lillian (pottery artist, pregnant), and Reed (billionaire and future CEO of his grandfather's company, for which he just only needs a bride). As always, a marriage of convenience makes for a delightful and promising story and Ms. Meyer certainly delivers it. Through this novella, you will want to shake both these characters in order for them to share their feelings with each other but will also leave you cheering the loudest and pretty much swooning when they finally do, as well as with its beautiful and sweet ending.

This is a lighthearted, but clean billionaire romance, that is easy to read. In a case of mistaken identity, Lillian finds herself contractually bound to marry Reed, but recognises that her secrets might just be her undoing. Reed has unresolved issues, however after meeting Lillian they no longer seem quite so insurmountable. As the couple get closer to the wedding, reality steps in and both of them have a choice to make. I found the book easy to read and although it is part of a series, it is a standalone with a romantic ending. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I like this author and don’t like giving bad reviews but I had some problems with this. The biggest problem is that she was almost 6 months pregnant and wearing a sexy swimsuit and no one could tell? Nope. No way. Second issue, she was so sure she’d lose the baby that she wouldn’t tell anyone including the man she was marrying? Nope again.

The story started out pretty well and I liked both main characters. But as the story progressed, I didn’t ‘feel’ the romance building, the story got more implausible and sadly, Lillian started to get annoying.

This author has other good books. Maybe this was just a one off situation.

A mix-up due to get friend eavesdropping on a conversation leads to Lillian accidentally signing a contract forcing her to marry handsome billionaire Reed. Why oh why can't that happen to me!!
Despite the rather fanciful premise,he's rich, charming and good-looking, and she's had to marry him or else, his is still a sweet clean romance. The supporting characters are all slightly mad in a nice way and make for an enjoyable company. Lillians' constant fear of a miscarriage is the only sad note in this otherwise uplifting read.
I voluntarily agreed to read an advanced copy of this book.

This was one of the first romances I have read. I'm trying to become more familiar with this genre and possibly start writing romance novels. This book was written by an author that I follow online, so of course, I had to pick it up.

This was a clean romance, so nothing explicit. They didn't even kiss until the last page! I'm not sure if my writing will be this tame, but the author used some creative ways to describe what was happening between the characters.

I will read the rest of the series!

Lillian is pretty desperate, she has no husband or way to support herself and a baby on the way. So when her friend suggests she goes for an interview with a billionaire as his secretary, she figures what has she got to lose. With a case of mistaken identity there are some funny twists and turns in this story. Whilst the storyline is a bit predictable, I still thoroughly enjoyed the story, the narration and the complexity in the characters.

I listened to the audio version of this book.

It was a fantastic holiday read.
