What would you do to save yourself?

In the village where “all are welcome and those in need may stay” long-buried secrets keep rising to the surface.

With renovations on the house finally complete, Jayne and Tripp are ready to open their B&B. Villagers and tourists gather for their grand opening barbecue. Close friends check in as their first guests. Aside from a minor glitch or two, everything is going to plan … and then someone turns up dead on the side of the road.

Unsure if she’s looking for a murderer or a hit-and-run driver, Jayne jumps headlong into figuring out what happened. Her confidence is shaken, though, when some of the locals point out that the rash of murders started when she arrived in the village, insinuating that she brought the darkness hovering over Whispering Pines.

Now, in the middle of a possible murder investigation, Jayne must clear her own name as well.

Mystery and fantasy author Shawn McGuire loves creating characters and places her fans want to return to again and again. She started writing after seeing the first Star Wars movie (that's episode IV) as a kid. She couldn't wait for the next installment to come out so wrote her own. Sadly, those notebooks are long lost, but her desire to tell a tale is as strong now as it was then. She lives in Wisconsin near the beautiful Mississippi River and when not writing or reading, she might be baking, crafting, going for a long walk, or nibbling really dark chocolate. The day is here! Sheriff Jayne and her business partner, Tripp have finally opened their brand new B & B. Villagers and tourists alike are on hand for the grand opening. The first guests of the B & B are mainly old school friends of Jayne.

But there are a couple of surprises. One man shows up, full of charm and mystery. Another man, who is with his wife and her sister with her husband all seem to be at odds. The one man is clearly not happy with anyone or anything. And he's a creep... touchy-feely with all the women.

This very man winds up dead by the side of the road, and Jayne is forced into another murder. She's beginning to think she's a bad luck charm ... there have been several murders in the small village since she moved there.

The dead man was so unliked by so many, the suspects are many, up to and including his wife. She and her deputy, Reed, have their hands full trying to sort out the lies, coverups, and hidden secrets.

As in the previous books of this series, this is a well-written mystery. The residents of Whispering Pine all seem to have one blessing or the other. It's a Wiccan community with fortune tellers, spell casters, and some who operate on just their feelings or instincts. Add a little romance in the air and it's a very pleasurable read. The characters are solid and I look forward to follow them into their adventurous future,

Many thanks to the author for the advanced digital copy of HIDDEN SECRETS. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

*I received a free ARC of this book. The decision to review and my opinions are my own.*

With this fourth book in the Whispering Pines series, Shawn McGuire has really got into her stride and found the ‘Pine Time’ rhythm and pace.

The story does stand alone in theory, but I really recommend reading this series in order, as the characters and setting are really lovely and well-developed over the course of the books. Each novel covers an individual case, and contributes a jigsaw piece to the wider mystery of the community’s history, and Hidden Secrets is no exception.

More than that though there is a real heart and warmth here that contribute to a genuine small-community feel. It was great to see Jayne finally find her bearings a bit in her relationships and her position in the town, and I felt that a firmer base gave her more strength and scope in her working life.

There was a bit of a classic Agatha Christie feel to the murder plot which I really enjoyed. I love murder mysteries with a universally hated victim: there is a real guilty pleasure in the whole ‘karma’ aspect of a bad ‘un getting hurt rather than some sweet, unsuspecting innocent. Similarly I really like it when the suspect pool is limited to a small number of close friends/family members so that the investigator really has to dig in with the interviews in order to root out the real feelings and motives.

In this case I confess that I was a little bit puzzled as to how Jayne decided which suspects could be eliminated and why, especially in the early stages of her questioning. It felt as if her usual insistence on protocol and remaining unbiased came under strain and she was perhaps making professional calls based on personal motivations. However this was recognised and addressed by the characters in the storyline, so didn’t cause any credibility issues.

Hidden Secrets is my favourite Whispering Pines book so far: gripping plotline; great character development for Jayne, Tripp, Reed and Morgan; and an intriguing new addition with the introduction of the mysterious River Carr. Fans of cosy mysteries with a paranormal ‘woo woo’ flavour will love this series!

Who paid multiple six figures for a car? We watched as the vehicle backed in next to my tired, twenty-year-old Cherokee – which cost multiple three figures – and a man just as long, dark, and sleek as his car, unfolded from the driver’s seat.
Six foot one, early-thirties, light-brown skin, pale-blue eyes, wavy black hair to the collarbone, shoulders wide enough to take on the weight of the world.
This guy looked like he’d just stepped out of a Dresden Files book. Or maybe he was a dark angel. I half-expected black wings to sprout from his back.
“Who is he?” I asked.

I loved book 4. The B & B is now open and had a very successful launch party. What is a party without a lecher huh? A troubled man that just doesn't realize how close he is to meeting his maker. Fired from his job and acting out in resentment towards women since that is why he lost his job with misconduct allegations. This story is beginning to take the village into a different direction. What is going on that has put a black cloud over it that it seems only Jayne can correct? Long ago secrets that have finally come out have had a devastating affect on 1 young villager that now knows she has a sister that she didn't know about. To catch a killer is hard enough but to have to interrogate your friends doubles that responsibility since the murdered man was a guest at Pine Time, Whispering Pines newest bed and breakfast owned by Jayne and Tripp. Guests also included a very mysterious man that Jayne is not to keen on seeing her best friend. The deputy is getting more responsibilities assigned to him since he is going into training to further his career. What will Jayne do once the season is over and the tourists are gone? She's got options about keeping the B & B in the black but will it be enough to keep her parents from selling it if it looses profits? I can't wait to see what other psychological thrills are thrown into the mix and how Jayne overcomes all to stay in her beloved village.

Even though this was the first book I have read in this series, I found it was easy to read along. There is a lot going on in the town in this book, and I think reading the other books in the series would make it easier to understand the history.

Where this book begins, Jayne is taking over the land that her grandmother once owned of a small village filled with all kinds of Wiccan history. It’s an exclusive village, and the villagers are concerned about her opening up her bed and breakfast due to the new faces that will be coming and going from the village.

Jayne waves off their concerns until one of the visitors turns up dead. In this riveting mystery, everyone has secrets, and as Jayne searches for the murderer, all the dirty laundry of Whispering Pines comes to the surface.

I really did adore this book and all the well-defined characters. My only issue with it is the number of times the character said “woo woo” in reference to the Wiccans and their beliefs. Other than that, this is a great read!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Even though this is a supernatural mystery series, there was no supernatural involved this go around. I haven't visited Whispering Pines in a few years so it was nice to reacquaint myself with all the characters. I was disappointed in the "who" of this mystery but that's mostly because the resolution came due to a confession by the murderer during an interview rather than the actual investigation pointing in their direction. Hopefully the next installment will bring back a little more of the woo-woo vibes, as Sheriff Jayne likes to say.

I have not read any of this series, so I was a little lost. I see that all the reviews I read are from readers who have read the whole series and the reviews are 4 or 5 stars. I was asked to leave an honest review so 3 is the most I can give. I thought Sandra Murphy did a wonderful job of narrating this book. She deserves a 5 star in my opinion.
I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.

This series brings an interesting setting where people “who don’t fit in” have made their home in a village called Whispering Pines together while supporting themselves in some unique ways together with murder mysteries and a lighter style police procedural.

I quite like these books!

Family Secrets, Whispering Pines #1 - An intriguing story. After finishing Stick and Stones, I dove into Family Secrets, my second book by this new-to-me author. These two books are nothing alike on storylines, except fantasy. I was drawn into this well written novel with an interesting plot and realistic characters, including the lovable dog. I couldn't put Family Secrets down until it was finished. There's an overview letting the reader know what the book is about, which I appreciate. This author is definitely someone whose work I want to keep reading. Two books, two winners!

Kept Secrets, Whispering Pines #2 - Another intriguing story by a very good author. Now we're being to know our main characters as they grow in this book, while remaining believable and realistic. The well written, fast paced plot keeps the reader interested, making it hard to put the book down. The author’s descriptions leave the reader with clear pictures about the town, townspeople and property. I contacted the author to review her books since she writes such substantial stories that leaves a reader satisfied.

Original Secrets, Whispering Pines #3 – This is the best of the series. So intriguing that the reader can’t put the book down. A well written, suspense filled book with two deaths forty years apart that may be connected. The characters are steadily growing, even the hated ones are interesting. Their dialog is realistic and non of The Stupid Formula for these characters. Her descriptions are clear and you’re there in Whispering Pines. I’m looking forward to the next book. I contacted the author to review her books; her stories are substantial and the reader is satisfied when finished reading one of her books.

Hidden Secrets, Whispering Pines #4 - Another hard to put down story. Well written, suspense filled and full of intrigue, still with an interesting group of characters with new ones added to boot. This substantial story has several stories going at once, including the past and the future and the worries that stem from them. I've never been disappointed by any book written by Ms. McGuire and I look forward to more of her work. I contacted the author to review her books.

Missing & Gone - An interesting novella. This well written story introduces the main and some of the secondary characters of the book Family Secrets. It's a quickly read suspense story, which I read after Family Secrets; I didn't miss not having read M&G before FS. A conflict: Jayne knows her grandmother is a Wiccan, but she forgot it in FS? Minor detail, both are must reads, actually any of the author's books are must reads.

Sticks and Stones - A surprising, intense novel. Not knowing what to expect from this new-to-me author, I started reading a book that turned out to be mesmerizing. I couldn't stop reading this well written, thought out book with its interesting characters and storyline full of twists, even thought the age group doesn't interest me. I've had this book a while and am glad I finally got around to reading it. My next read is Family Secrets.

This series shouldn't stay a secret because I have enjoyed every single one and would highly recommend them, in fact I did to my mum. The stories are all stand alone books so you can listen to them in any order but as it is a small town many of the people are regulars. If you start with book one you get to know them as the series unfolds, also you don't know a few of the secrets ahead of time. I like the characters especially Jayne and her little dog but it is the fact that you don't know what is going to happen next that keeps me listening. The mystery is good and although I had guessed the reason I wasn't sure which one was the murder, there was plenty to choose from. I also like the magic side to the series it isn't in your face spell casting and is more what I think of Wicca with the use of herbs and positive thinking. All in all a great book and a very good series.
Jayne and Tripp's B&B is finally ready for guests and to celebrate they have a party and everybody is invited. The first set of guests to stay happen to be old college friends of Jayne's that she hasn't seen in years but want to help support her new adventure and get away from the kids. The party goes well, with the exception of one guest that seems he has to infect his fowl mood onto everybody he meets. Jayne gets a number of complaints about him during the evening and being sheriff the complaints keep coming in the next day also. With patience wearing thin Jayne decides she will have to talk to him and maybe ask him to leave but before she can he is killed. Was it murder? An accident? Or natural causes? Jayne can't wait for the autopsies results to come in, the weekend is nearly over and if it was murder than the most likely suspects his friends would be leaving and it would be to late. Jayne once again plunges head long into a murder investigation but this man annoyed so many people tourist and villagers a like so it won't be easy and to top it all off she starts to suspect one of her college friends. How much can a person change? In fact did she really know them as well as she thought?
Sandra Murphy is such a talented narrator that I cam glad she is reading this series because she adds her own magic to what is a good book.

In this installment of the Whispering Pines Mysteries, Sheriff and new B&B owner Jayne and her boyfriend/B&B co-manager launch their new B&B, Pine Time, over the Labor Day weekend. Within 24 hours, one of her guests is dead and it doesn’t look very much like the hit and run accident she’d first assumed. To make matters more difficult, the deceased is the brother-in-law of her college friend.

This will most likely be a short review because all of the books in this series have been enjoyable and fairly quick reads, despite the page count. **Spoiler alerts coming** Jayne and Tripp grow more serious even as they run into obstacles for keeping the B&B open all winter, the only way they can foresee turning a profit within a year. If they don’t, Jayne’s mother has threatened to see the house and village.

I’d wondered in the last book how many murders can happen in this small village before someone starts pointing the finger at Jayne. I wasn’t disappointed, it popped up in this novel but with a slight twist. A few of the residents feel that Jayne has stirred up bad energy in the village, which is true since she unearthed a murder from forty years prior that had been written off as an accident, which seems to be a theme in this village. However, rather than just blaming her for bringing in bad juju, the same villagers are of the opinion she’s also the one to fix it. So, we have a plot line for the next several books. Possibly the entire series.

I like the characters in this series - from Jayne and Tripp to the Wiccans in the village. I’ll state again Jayne reminds me a lot of Kelsey Milhone in the Alphabet Murder Series by Sue Grafton. After reading a few of the Whispering Pines Mysteries, I get the same feeling of touching base with old friends, seeing what they’re up to, and how plans have progressed since the last time we visited. The consistency is wonderful and I look forward to making my way through the entire series.

Book four in the Whispering Pines series begins with the opening of the B&B that Jayne and Tripp have been renovating and preparing through the first three books. Guests arrive for their grand opening weekend on Labor Day weekend, several of whom were Jayne’s good friend from college and a tall, dark, mysterious stranger. It becomes quickly obvious who the crime victim is going to be.

Some elements of the mystery were pretty obvious to me. I had figured out the who, the why, and the how fairly easily as will most readers I assume. That doesn’t bother me and isn’t a knock on the mystery. Sometimes it’s nice to feel clever!😁

There were several story elements though that were more intriguing as they seemed to be laying foundations for upcoming storylines that will be overarching for this trilogy as was the pattern with the first three books. I like the format.

There are parts of the story I found annoying. In the first three books Jayne is presented as a competent and observant law enforcement officer. Therefore some ridiculous events here are out of character and don’t fit with the existing character development. What person doesn’t know the jobs of her close friends from college a mere five years after they’ve graduated? Particularly when it’s mentioned that they had gotten together for a wedding a couple years earlier. I don’t want to mention others so as not to provide spoilers.

On a personal front things seem to be progressing with Jayne and Tripp’s relationship. Clearly Tripp has the patience of a saint! But it’s nice to Jayne finally realizing, with the help of Briar, that she needs to be more in the moment and not take things for granted.

Another day in Whispering Pines and another death. Murder? Maybe.... Everybody disliked this horrid man, he seems to go out of his way to make sure he winds people up all the time.

And who is the tall, handsome River? He seems magnetic, he can get you to do almost anything you might want to do, or not, as the case may be. And why is Morgan so enthralled with the guy? Morgan, of all people....

Another interesting mystery, set in the beautiful Whispering Pines, a place for those who don't feel welcome anywhere else, a place of magik. The town runs according to the Wiccan calendar. The characters are fascinating, and once they get their beautiful nails into you, you just don't want to stop reading!

In this fourth book (each book can be read as a standalone but why would you want to stop at one?) Jayne has to come to terms with inherent insecurities, running a B&B whilst still working as the Sheriff, and her old college friends. Is one of them a cunning killer, or was it just an accident?

I would love to watch this on TV. It's bingeworthy even though this is only the fourth book. It's a bit like Midsomer Murders, with a Wiccan twist. One can picture the quaint mushrooms in the village circle, the smell of vanilla and coffee and the man in the longcoat....

I received a copy of this book and I try to review every book of fiction I read. This River guy intrigues me. What does he want? Could he kill someone? Well done Ms McGuire. I don't want to be too pushy but please could we have a book 5 here?

"It doesn't look like a hit and run."
At last, the old house has been spruced and restored and turned into a B and B, just in time for the tail end of the tourist season and a grand opening is arranged. The first guests are old friends of Jayne, also the local sheriff, for whom the success of the new business will determine whether or not Whispering pines itself will survive as the land on which it was built belonged to her re gently deceased grandmother as somewhere to welcome those uncomfortable in the outside world. But since Jayne's arrival some months beflre, secrets have been tumbling out of the woodwork...

Would grandmother have approved of her opening the house to strangers? And is the body by the road a simple accident or has murder struck again? The characters in this small town grow comfortably more familiar as Jayne herself settles in to this beautiful, if somewhat mysterious area of countryside. A stand alone read but much better if the series is dead in sequence. Narration by Sandra Murphy is simply excellent with a full range of vocal depths and heights. She does full justice to the story increasing the reader's involvement and enjoyment.

I very much enjoy this tale of small town wicken folk and am grateful to the rights holder of Hidden Secrets: Whispering Pines who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you.
A delightfully enjoyable book.

Treats sexual harassment and assault like some sort of minor issue, not worth kicking someone out of a party over, and as the unfortunate result of a good man being "falsely accused" (which is extremely rare in general, but especially unlikely given Nick's character and behavior, a good man doesn't assault women). Constance is even blamed for Nick's behavior, treated as if she failed to be sufficiently supportive of her jealous misogynist sex criminal boyfriend. Those who are particularly mad at Nick are framed as crazy, cause of course you've got to have past trauma or some kind of issue to be mad at a man who treats half the population like dirt.

It's pathetic that even female authors feel the need to make excuses for scumbag men.

There's an increasing amount of moralistic sappy messages that are clashing with the actual plot. Supposedly "wise" characters will give advice that is objectively poor in-universe, and sound like something off of a fortune cookie. Usually the magic/psychic elements are at least somewhat integrated with the murder of the week, but not this time.

Hidden Secrets is the fourth book in the Whispering Pines Mystery Series by Shawn McGuire. This is a perfect blend of cozy mystery, small-town charm, and just the right sprinkle of supernatural elements.
following Jane O’Shea who has a knack for solving mysteries that seem to find her no matter how much she tries to avoid them. The town itself is a character in its own right – a little quirky, idyllic, and full of secrets. The locals are a fun mix of personalities, from the nosy neighbours to more endearing eccentrics - and their interactions gives the series an extra element of interest along with some ‘warm-fuzzies’.
Ms. McGuire manages to balance lighthearted coziness with genuinely intriguing mysteries. Each book has its own unique twist, and while the stakes aren’t overly high/intense, they’re enough to keep you flipping pages late into the night. Plus, the touch of the paranormal adds an extra layer of fun without overwhelming the story.
Recommend for a binge-worthy read.
Happy Reading…

Lew Ferris is now Sheriff of McBride County. She has a bigger area to take care of than just Loon Lake anymore.
This is all set in the North Woods of Wisconsin.
A girl has been murdered and the case looks just like an old cold case from 1967.
Same operating basis exactly. Spooky.
One of her subordinates has ruled the case an accidental drowning, just like the earlier case.
Meanwhile, a big wig hedge fund manager with a very fancy art collection has caught the attention of Doc Osborn who is connected to the guy through his daughter's PR firm.
But something odd is going on with Matt Brinkerman, the hedge fund manager.
Lew has to sort out the entire mess while being up against several people that are sexist and hiding a lot of skeletons in the closet.
Plus and old relative of the earlier drowned girl is prepared to take justice into her own hands.
Lots of story lines and just interesting characters. Set in an area that is familiar.

Welcome Back To Whispering Pines!

Hidden Secrets is the 4th book in The Whispering Pine Series. If you haven’t yet checked out this gem of a series, I recommend starting with the first book, Original Secrets, as each book builds upon the previous one.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hidden Secrets. One of my favorite things was the growth of the characters, in the beginning of the series, Reed was childish and lazy , now he is a strong, dependable Deputy, and one of my favorites. Jayne is learning to let go of the past and enjoy her relationship with Tripp. Truly enjoyable.
Another of my favorite characters is Morgan, I was happy to see her have more of a story of her own, can’t wait to see what the future holds for her and River!
Looking forward to my next visit in Whispering Pines!
I would like to thank the author for an ARC of this book, the opinions expressed are my own

Another Great Story

In this book, McGuire continues Sheriff O'Shea's life in Whispering Pines. As she and Tripp open their B&B and promote their grand opening, O'Shea's friends from college show support by booking the first long weekend of Labor Day. But all is not well with the group. One of the little groups 'other-halfs'is boorish and objectionable. Then, he is found dead by the side of the road. Was he a victim of a hit and run? Or, did one of the groups members have a motive to kill him? (I found myself unable to give the fifth star because the author is writing about a Sheriff with a K-9 side kick, but O'Shea does not seem aware of certain aspects of dog care, like chocolate and grapes could kill the dog. While she says her dog didn't like the grape, it bothers me that she showed no concern for the dog eating, or trying to eat food known to be toxic to dogs)

Renovations are finished and Jayne and Tripp are opening their B & B for business. A few of Jayne's friends from college are among the first guests. On opening day a BBQ is planned for the village residents, tourists and guests. One of the guests is found dead along the side of the road. Is it an accidental hit and run or is it murder? Some villagers are wondering why there have been all these murders since Jayne showed up. Past secrets are found out. Sheriff Jayne and Deputy Reed are getting along and working together. Jayne and Tripp are taking their relationship slow. Intrigue, mystery, and suspense keeps you turning pages. This is a book you won't want to put down. Characters are interesting, plot is well thought out and story is well written.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.

After the last book opened a can of worms, Jayne's world is a bit precarious right now and Shawn McGuire does not hesitate to use this and make her trip a little, which I personally find amazing! Jayne is unsettled after what happened in Original Secrets and now with the opening of Pine Time and more and more troubling discoveries she has to find strength in herself and in her relationship. Her insecurities are giving her a hard time and she has to scramble to balance Pine Time and sheriff duties without jeopardizing one or the other. Friendships old and new are at the heart of this story and a new character that you just hope will return to stay is thrown into the mix as well. Shawn McGuire writes "real" stories, her characters have ups and downs, growth and setbacks. Life is not easy for them, yet we don't have to cry for them, which is why I love the books so much.

This series just keeps getting better and better! The storyline continues to be excellent and the characters are developing more depth. I love how much more self-aware Jane is and how she has been the guiding force in Tripp’s and Martin’s self-confidence.

Jane and Tripp are having a grand opening for their B & B, Pine Times. Their first guests are Janes college friends and their significant others, and Jane is looking forward to catching up with them. All too soon Jane must put on her sheriff’s hat to investigate the death, under suspicious circumstances of one of her guests. As the investigation unfolds Jane realizes that she didn’t know these friends as well as she thought she did.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

This series is so intriguing and alluring that once you step into Whispering Pines you can not seem to get away. Each one has its own pieces plus adds to what is already there.
Finally opening of B&B the characters that come add lots of interest to your reading. Of course you know what happens if you have read any of the others. Jayne will have her hands full again. She also gets some insights that have her questioning that others seem to have to impart to her. I like that her romance is going a the pace it does.
Some more aspects about her come into this one having us learn and know even more about her. So love her dog. Some questions do come to mind with me searching for the answers in the ones to come.

Fourth book in “A Whispering Pines Mystery” series. In the last book, the big secrets of small village Whispering Pines in the northern reaches of Wisconsin were revealed. That book seemed to tie up all the loose ends of the first two books, so what possibly could a fourth book do? Well, come along to Whispering Pines where there is a reunion of sorts, a little love, a tall dark stranger and sexy Morgan, our favorite characters growing stronger in several ways, a new B&B, and, of course, murder. What kinds of trouble will the villagers find themselves in this time? Can Sheriff O’Shea solve the mystery? Another great mystery by Shawn McGuire that was tough to put down at bedtime.

Shawn has done it again. I so enjoy reading about life in Whispering Pines, an idyllic place I would love to spend summers in. The intrigue, in Jayne solving the murder, has been done so well, it seems like another day in the lives of the Wiccan population. Their lives go on and friendships grow throughout the tension of knowing someone has lost their life and not knowing who is responsible, if anyone. Is it murder or is it a simple case of someone's misfortune? Jayne will make sure someone pays for their crime if one has been committed. She doesn't have a lot of time to figure it out in this popular vacation destination before the one responsible may be gone for good.

Hidden Secrets by Shawn McGuire is a hidden faceted gem. I loved how the author has created this village full of quirky characters and vivid imagery. There is Wiccan history and background, mystery, and suspense. With Jayne and Tripp, their relationship is solid, yet the author lets the listener use their imagination. Sandra Murphy is the perfect voice for this series. She brings the characters to life, and inflects the right emotions. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I love how the storyline is original and unpredictable.

Back to Whispering Pines! Great as a read alone, but I recommend the series so you can watch Jayne and Tripps lives unfold!

After a lot of work, Jayne and Tripp open their dream life B and B! Most of the guests are old friends of Jaynes, but a mysterious guest has heads turning. Time to get to work and care for the guests. But Jayne is also the Sheriff of Whispering Pines! When a body shows up she's off to work!

So take a country trip to Whispering Pines. Walk the town, visit the shops and try hard to solve this head scratching mystery! Shawn McGuires writing is delightful!

More secrets revealed, more to come

KU borrow. I really like Shawn's writing! Not only are her stories quite interesting, her attention to detail (in this one she mentions getting releases for photos to be used on her website) and her descriptions (She pinched the hem of her pine-green thigh-length apron between two fingers, gave a little curtsy of thanks,) are spot on. I feel like I have physically been to the village and have met the characters. Good crime scene analysis, twists in "who done it", a few life lessons to ponder. Absolutely delightful read!

This series just keeps getting better. Tripp and Jayne have finally opened their B&B in Whispering Pines. Their first guests are a mix of odd yet charming people. Unfortunately, one of them meets their demise and Sheriff Jayne is once again trying to solve a murder. There are twists throughout the book which makes for pleasurable reading, especially if you like small towns. I have read and enjoyed every book Ms. McGuire has written about Whispering Pines. I did receive an ARC and freely give this review.
