Climate Change in North America has accelerated. People are dying from the heat, forests are burning, the ocean is rising. Bernadette Callahan is tasked to find a scientist who might have an answer. First, she has to call for aid from someone from her past.

Her search will lead her to the lakes of Nicaragua an undersea lab in Florida and the darkness of the High Arctic. She finds she is one step behind another force. Is there someone inside the FBI or the Canadian Intelligence agency that is leaking information?

As unlikely forces come to her aide, she walks a fine line between the mythical and the scientific to get her answer. If Bernadette can see through the madness of the   governments falling apart and uprisings in the population, perhaps she'll find her clue to stop the acceleration of earth's climate.

This is the third book in the Bernadette Callahan Detective series. This portrays a female detective of Canada's National Police Force, The RCMP, who fights crime on her own terms against those who would manipulate resources and environment for their own profit.

Lyle Nicholson was born in British Columbia Canada. His is the youngest of three sons born to a father who was a cook and mother who was a waitress.

His father, who died when Lyle was 15, was a story teller, something that Lyle adopted at an early age. His life would lead him to travels in Europe, then 5 years in a Monastery. He found he was not a good Monk, as poverty was easy - it was the chastity and obedience that was a stumbling block.

He left the Monastery in 1979, and met and married his wife in 1982. He would spend a few years working for companies, getting fired, starting business's that failed, until he finally started a sales agency that was a success. Lyle retired in 2011.

Retirement didn't work well for Lyle. His mind wanted to explore the regions he's experienced in both meditations and his extensive travels. This has resulted in the publication of one Novella, two Novels, and several free lance articles for magazines in Canada.

Lyle now resides in a small city in Western Canada where he continues to write his thrillers and mysteries with a twist.

Sorry but the last in the series jumped the shark and this has gone from the improbable to the ridiculous and far beyond. Its like the author took direction from someone who enjoys slapstick, but its not funny, just silly. It's a pity maybe the next in the series is good but I we will not buy another

This story is a thriller with a bit of a difference.

Bernadette Callahan is assigned to negotiate with her former nemesis, McAllen, the climate activist. The FBI want her to contact him for help and even assign her an FBI partner. It turns out this is a double cross and she and her new partner are both considered expandable. Climate change is being tampered with by activists wanting to take over the USA and the missing scientist, Bernadette is supposed to seek McAllen’s help in locating, is actually an escapee from his abductors. Bernadette, Winston the FBI agent and Mc Allen encounter a range of people on the way to exposing the truth, Russian mafia, corrupt FBI, friendly Inuit and a magical artefact are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

Well written fun

This is a pre-qual to apocalyptic and post apocalyptic stories. It Is a good picture of what could happen if we don't pay attention To our environment. But what I really liked about the book Was That it was all Put in a very fun format with really fun characters . And so I would recommend this book to anyone who wanted a good story well written with good character development, decent science, with a touch of fantasy thrown in . I enjoyed the 1st 3 and I'm gonna read the next 3 as well.

A book that handles current political and climatic challenges

I really liked the tone of the story, risks taken by the protagonists, current dangers posed by climate change, and the international intrigue provided by those who want to own and rule the planet. The heroine adapts to the challenges and cultivates resources to tackle the problems.

Great imagination!

This is my second Bernadette Callahan book to read. I’ve enjoyed them both immensely and look forward to reading the others. The characters and their escapades had me continue reading to see what they would next be int to. Mr. Nicholson has written books I’ve very much enjoyed. I will definitely recommend his books to friends.

Climate change and the Russian Mafia

Great story…lots of twists and turns…hard to put down. Again, I was skimming over the technical parts, but the story was good and the characters were fun. Looking forward to the next in the series and more with this cast of characters. Well done.👍

A FUN STORY

Bernadette does it again in this novel. Although the events described were often a product of the authors imagination it made for a fun read during this period of quarantine.

Ecological techno thriller!

Continuing with the same characters, the plot races along, with some interesting and unexpected twists. A fun read with a satisfying conclusion. Even a cliffhanger at the end to take you to the next book. Recommended for light and fun reading.

Another wild escapade for Bernadette

In this story RCMP Callahan is involved in trying to stop some Russian mafia goons and some Federal turn coats from raising the temperature of the sea, which is causing problems on land. An ok story.
