This novel combines two sequential novellas previously published separately, titled Drive Shaft and Drive Shaft: Between a Rock and a Hard Place. This is the first time the two stories have been combined with a new HEA added.
Jensen Rivers wasn’t looking for trouble. As the new kid on the block at Clyde’s Body Shop, all Jensen wanted was a job, a place where he could put his head down and ass up.
But Dean ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson plans on getting more than just Jensen’s hands dirty. Reckless and arrogant, drenched in sweat and dripping with a masculinity that cannot be tamed, Hutch is determined to claim victory over his new work colleague – both physically and sexually.
Will Jensen risk everything to find the love trapped behind Hutch’s fearless façade? Will Hutch bury the secret tragedy of his past before he throws away his last chance at a future? Will the dangers that confront them both be enough to tear them apart… or bring them together forever?

I read the original first novella in this two-part series so when the author rereleased both stories in one book I was thrilled to get my hands on it. After all, I’d only read half of Jensen and Hutch’s story and I wanted more! Oh, now, have you ever hungered for something so bad that you can taste it in your mouth, feel your saliva pooling in anticipation? That's how I felt watching Hutch and Jensen – like they were filet mignon and a gourmet bottle of red wine – tasty, meaty, and a little bloody. I tell you, Geoffrey, they brought shivers to my spine.
Jensen has accepted a job at Clyde’s garage to get him out of Texas and away from his step-father as they don't see "eye-to-eye" on things. His first minutes inside the garage he meets Hutch, the hottest guy Jensen has seen in a long while. When Jensen makes it clear he'd like some of that, Hutch makes him a racing bet – Jensen and his Ducati against Hutch and his Dodge Viper. The first night Jensen loses, but since winner takes all, he doesn’t really lose because he and Hutch go back to the garage and have nasty, dirty sex. When it is over, Jensen tells Hutch he wants best two out of three. Well, who is Hutch to say no to that offer?
💖🔥😂 BRILLIANT book. I'm giving this a 10 Stars.🌟 I loved the hell outta this book, definitely have a book hanger over with this. I so wanted to be in there with them in there adventures it'd be totally fun. The Aussie author is new to me and wont be the last continuing from this book. This is definitely a fast paced story. Totally Recommended as it has just about everything happening in between the story. Scenes includes the fire bantering of both Jensen and Hutch, hot domination by Hutch, hot duct tape scenes, a dangerous rope play, gangsters and illegal races across the dessert and a lot more. Funny moments are also there. I absolutely LOVED the scene at 43% aww . And Annie in this adorable. The love and action and danger are fantastic (understatement) The ending of this is brilliantly done..hehehe so good.. A Must Read. Jensen 20 yrs was grateful to have a job with old Clyde had for him in his garage being family and all. Clyde's other grease monkey was Dean aka Hutch. Hutch 26 yrs was definitely an alpha personality but he was grieving over a lover dying from cancer. Stupidity and doing dangerous stunts with bets until things go wrong.
This compilation includes two books. The first is really pushy macho stuff, to the point that I wasn't sure whether it was intended to be a joke, or campy, or serious. Supposedly romantic, but it's all about wild driving, risk taking, and BDSM. This is not my thing, nor did I find it very believable. Men that I've known who lived that way, quite simply, were neither romantic nor gay. I very nearly abandoned the whole book before getting through that.
The second book is clearly meant to be comedic, with lots of absurdities and exaggerated situations, and reminded me somewhat of the film "It's a Mad, Mad World" or something like that. It was humorous, if taken in that vein, but also quite ridiculous. Certainly the believability score was in negative numbers. Again, supposedly romantic for two couples (one gay pair, the other a straight but hardly normal pair) but not really my thing. Three stars for being overly clever, but I'm not rushing to read anything more in this vein.
Well this is a fun read! Jensen arrives at his relative Clyde’s auto shop on his Ducati motorcycle and is almost immediately challenged by shop mechanic Hutch to a series of three races against him and his Viper with a prize of winner-take-all. Literally all! Both the challenges and rough, testosterone fueled sex are tangentially related to a tragic episode in Hutch’s past. In the second part, Hutch and Jensen have become lovers, making a small family with Clyde, his blind labrador Moses and themselves. Clyde’s bad finances brings the local mob boss into their lives, putting both Hutch and Jensen into a much bigger race with deadly consequences for losing.
I’ve enjoyed a couple of Geoffrey Knight’s books before so I knew I’d be greatly entertained. This is more a parody of action-adventure novels than strictly an erotica story, and offers an amusing plot. The author’s stories fit a particular niche within the genre for the humor and heart that go along with the thrills and rough, randy sex. This duo of tales felt like I was reading a Tom of Finland illustration brought to life in a pulp-fiction novel, adding a mash-up of The Great Race movie and a Dukes of Hazzard episode. (I’m showing my age, aren’t I?) The characters are exaggerated versions of everyday heroes and villains but have enough depth to capture my attention and make me root for an HEA. It’s lighthearted, sexy and laugh-worthy. Give this one a try!

This book goes from hot erotica between Hutch and Jensen then goes 180 degrees in the opposite direction it was like 50 shades of Grey had a love child with Mad Max and birthed it in the middle of a Fast and the Furious death race all the way to Vegas. I have never read anything like this the sex was wild the Loan Sharks are crazy deadly and Hutch and Jensen are crazy in lust and love.
Jensen came to California from Texas to work for Clyde who is a relative Hutch is also one of his employees and he immediately gets Jensen all wound up write from the beginning. Hutch live's life in a constant state of danger after he suffers a loss doesn't think anything about pushing Jensen's button's up until he almost loses him and just when you think everything is okay. Clyde has made a major mistake he owes allot of money to a local loan shark and his evil triplets and they say pay up or suffer the consequences well Hutch has and idea that leads to the craziest thing I've ever read about the Reapers Race. I'm not saying anymore I dont want to ruin this book for anyone else. Read the book it has everything danger, hot sex, humor adventure and love.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
Jensen comes from Texas to take a job in a car repair shop. He pulls his Ducati in to the run down shop pretty full of himself. He is owner Clyde’s nephew by marriage (some by marriage connection anyway, no one seems sure). Clyde is cantankerous with a lot of bark but not much bite. He runs the shop with Hutch.
Jensen’s first look at Hutch was mouth watering. Naked to the waist, wearing coveralls that kept threatening to fall down.
They didn't hit it off right away, both posturing and checking each other out. To decide who is top dog they have a race. The Ducati against Hutch’s viper. Hutch won that one much to Jensen’s satisfaction. The next night Jensen won, Hutch enjoyed his loss too.
They go off on a crazy race to save the garage. Braving all sorts of peril, they come out the other side in love. Proving it's the trip, not the destinations in life that create the best endings.
This one was fun, improbable, and sexy . Very over the top. Jump off the page supporting characters. Suspend belief and enjoy the ride. I rated this one a little higher just because it really appealed to me.

4* Drive Shaft is a standalone story by Geoffrey Knight. This book was originally released as two books, so it has an odd part in the middle where it jumps forward a few months without much of a transition. It makes more sense to have this as one book, though, so the story ends with an HEA rather than an HFN.
Jensen leaves Texas behind to come work in his relative’s, Clyde, car repair shop. When he arrives, he meets Hutch who Clyde’s other employee. Jensen is determined to make this work, even when he finds a half naked and scowling Hutch on his first day. By the end of day one, both Hutch and Jensen have been trying to size the other up and decide to pit their vehicles against each other – Viper versus Ducati. They finally start working well together when everything starts to fall apart, and they have to find a way to save Clyde and the shop.
I really enjoyed this book and it follows along the same lines of Knight’s Fathom’s Five series – lots of heat and lots of over the top action right from the very beginning! Great supporting characters and main characters learning to work together. Would recommend for a fast paced and fun read!
Wow, Jensen moved to get away from hos abusive stepfather and landed in a new mess called Hutch. Hutch challenges Jensen at every turn but even the young gruff mechanic can't help falling for the blonde texan. With some awkward treasure hunts a few bullets and some racing these two battle life together. I was expecting a quick male on male mechanic shop erotica but got a full fledge story with an intense oh and yeah some sexytime. But all that aside there is a snake in their den and i don't mean those in the desert. With fire, coyotes, batteries, switch blades. Crushed cars puking brides traitors in the mix. Twist and turns that leave you either laughing, biting your nails, screaming or sighing. Dog tag ring? Hex nut? Double wedding?

Jensen is the new kid and Clyde's Body Shop. Jensen tries to make friend with the other mechanic Hutch. Hutch is not interested in being anyone's friend. Hutch lost his last friend and is just trying to stay alive. Hutch enters a race to get the money Clyde needs to get out of debt. Jensen also enters the race but his car is tampered with so Jensen and Hutch team up to try and win the race. The more time they spend together the closer they get. At every turn something happens to one of the teams that are racing. Will Jensen and Hutch make it to the finish? Will Clyde and his shop still be there when the race is over?

This work is full of fast paced action and testosterone-fueled sex. You can’t turn the pages fast enough through the action scenes, and the sex is STEAMY!! The author describes everything in a way that makes you feel as if you are watching it happen with your own eyes. Beyond the action and sex, it is also about the connection between Jenson and Hutch. They learn to overcome past pain and abuses, and that it’s ok to ask for help. I couldn’t help but fall in love with these characters. They had me cheering for a HEA *I reviewed an ARC in return for an honest review*
Action packed, creative and sexy story about finding love and yourself. Dean and Jensen's story is fast paced and a fun read. You will enjoy their races and their encounters are very creative, intense and steamy.
Working together to save the business was an interesting journey and i found it very creative and engaging. Dean and Jensen are both likable characters and together they burn up the pages with their chemistry.
I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review.
Jensen and Dean are adorable , hot and Funny. Despite their traumatic past and their drama (poor Dean), they're good together and try build a future for themselves. It was a good action book, with all the ingredients. Fast and Furious races, Beautiful cars, Stupid villains, Hot and Steamy scenes (like super hoooooot), One blind dog, One old man, One Russian with one eye, two super hot guys and 3 stupid triplet. Aaaand now, you're asking "what she's talking about?!!" Go read this book and you'll understand. It was a good read, with a good plot full of actions and love!
Talk about action packed adventure, this story never stops. From first meeting to the close of the book these boys are busy. Jensen and Hutch, along with Clyde and Annie have enough adventure to last a lifetime. Loan sharks, races, fires and romances all make this story an exciting bundle of adventures. As you turn the last page, though, you get a front row seat to happily ever afters and justice being served up deliciously.

After reading this book I had to take a little time to compose myself and get my thoughts clear in my head before I put them in a review. Wow this book was amazingly written. Awesome read for a first time author for me. Jensen and Dean story is fun, sexy and has a plot that keeps you wanting more. Loved this action packed story about two people discovering that they can help and ask for help when they need it. With the writing style I could picture everything perfectly and felt like I was there. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
With the title Drive Shaft it is not surprising that there is something that moves in this story. Hutch and Jensen work in a car repair shop but working on cars is not all that they do in this story. Add to the action between them a bit of the criminal element, fire - real fire that is - and some races, which makes sense given where they work, this is a story that moves you along to it finish.

This was surprisingly good…I liked that there were hot time from the beginning and both characters were very much aware of mutual attraction and were honest about it. I liked both of characters equally; they were funny, hot and in the end dedicated. The plot was fast paced; sometimes a bit just unbelievable and average with some strange side characters. But in total good reads; with very hot times.

Intense! Great story. I would give this a 10! Lots of action. Jensen, Hutch and Clyde were amazing. Lots of action, a lot of violence. All three men were faced with life threatening crisis at the same time in totally separate locations. Do they escape? Will one or all be saved? Will they be reunited? Fantastic story! Well done! I think this is Mr Knight's best book, yet. Fantastic, well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I've read several books written by Geoffrey Knight; he has done a great job at writing a good book; he is becoming one of my favorite authors and I will definitely be reading more of his books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

3.25 Stars. My first book by this author and it won’t be my last. Overall I liked this story, but didn’t love it. It was super hot, entertaining, and action packed. It was also pretty unbelievable and I wanted more connection and relationship development between Jensen and Hutch. The writing was good.
This is a quick, fun read. I’m glad they combined the two novellas into one story. This book is action-packed with steamy sex scenes interspersed. I love the connection between Dean ‘Hutch’ and Jenson. They are on a journey together about self discovery. They have off the charts chemistry and could the sex be any more HOT. I also love the attention to detail this author employs. You feel like you are right there in the moment with the characters. I will be reading more from this author.
So, I'm not against PWP but this started as PWP Fast and the Furious BDSM erotica and it wasn't that good. But then it tried to get all seriously ploted and there were mobsters and the russians and I didn't care at all for the old man. I can't believe this is the same Geoffrey Knight that knoched my socks off with the Boy from Brighton. DNFed it at 50%
A Truly entertaining action read. It has beautiful, fast cars, hot and sexy scenes, comedy aspects, stupid villains to boo and the haunted heroes to root for. Definitely recommend this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this set from beginning to end. This was the first time I had read this author And I am looking forward to seeing what else I can find.

Hutch lost out on love when his boyfriend died and he thought he'd never find it again until Jensen came into his life. Now they're trying to help Clyde their boss save his business. I really enjoyed this book.
Grease monkeys in a desert Great Race, throwing in a gang connection highlight Knight's hilarious romp. Naked men in mineshafts, switching vehicles and the good feels of a HEA blend with hot, hot action. Hoorah!
This started out promising but, like an engine with a clogged air filter, it lost power - at least for me. The side stories became too distracting to the main characters.
