Sasha McCandless #11

Intentional Acts

Rate this book
After seven years together, she knows him better than anyone. Doesn't she?

In the newest entry in this fast-paced USA Today bestselling series, wife-and-husband team Sasha and Leo find themselves on opposite sides of an explosive situation.

Sasha's up to her elbows in a data privacy matter. Her client could be on the hook for breaching the privacy of hundreds of customers. All because a rogue employee intentionally leaked personal information for reasons known only to him.

Meanwhile, Leo's busy with a high-stakes case of his own. He's been ordered to neutralize a national security threat to the country, but he has his doubts about the strength of the evidence against the target.

As Leo vets the information he's been given, Sasha learns that federal law enforcement has an interest in her civil matter. Because they both take their duties of confidentiality seriously, neither realizes that their cases are intertwined. Until one of the affected customers in Sasha's case is murdered ... and the evidence points to Leo as the killer.

Sasha's not about to turn in her own husband, so she tails him instead. She only hopes what she finds will clear his name, not destroy their marriage.

As the Sasha McCandless series settles into double figures territory with novel number 11, two questions arise: one, how does the author still manage to find legal-sounding titles starting with the letter ‘I’ and two, how does she keep the plots fresh? “Intentional Acts”, the latest instalment in the series, shakes things up a little with a plot involving a data privacy breach, a matter of national security, a Sons of Anarchy-style biker gang, and the board game Scrabble. I will stop here to avoid dropping spoilers but all you need to know is that Sasha’s decision to pursue a certain cause will cause a massive conflict of interest between the formidable attorney and Connelly and keep the tension going long after the baddies have been arrested and the case has been solved.

“Intentional Acts” is another page turning, engrossing read in a well-established series that never fails to entertain its readers. Hopefully, with its perfect balance of great characters, fast-paced plots and storylines that are always relevant to our times, the Sasha McCandless series will keep its fans busy for many years to come.

Sasha McCandless-Connelly has once again gotten involved in something that not only becomes much bigger than it seems initially but her pro bono case starts to involve a seemingly shadowy governmental agency which she would love to discuss with her husband Leo. Meanwhile, Leo is working on an equally sensitive case he can’t discuss. As the two cases near each other, this tale picks up pace and make for a wonderful book.
I obtained a eARC of this story and read it immediately based on the author’s past works. I was not disappointed nor will you be. Intentional Acts is the book to get. If you have not,get the entire series.

One hears of seven years being the hardest in a marriage, and does this challenge Sasha and Leo. Both deeply commented to their jobs, and when murder and finding how close their cases are entwined brings things to a head for them. Even worse, does she really know her husband, when the finger points to him as a killer, a very moving provocative moment for Sasha. It is an honest, look at what is happening, in their lives, wanting to be supportive, yet, can’t divulged what they are working on. This will definitely be a book you want to read in a sitting, for you will want to know if they will stay married. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

While this is the 11th book in a series, it can be read as a standalone. I actually am behind, and not reading a series consecutively normally makes me twitchy. Looking at my start/finish dates, you can see I tore through this one. The topic was interesting. I really enjoy Sasha stories. They don't drown you in legalese. These are fast moving stories, without sex and heavy violence. Sasha is a powerhouse that takes care of herself. a friend started me on this series, and I'm so glad. I recommend this book. I received an arc of this book, but am voluntarily reviewing it. I have purchased most of the others, prior to this.

If you’ve been reading the Sasha McCandless series, you won’t be disappointed with her most recent adventure. It’s got lots of action and will keep you reading long after your eyes get bleary from too much reading.

Sasha and Leo are in it, again, up to their necks. Each wondering what the other one is up to and then finally realizing that they’re working on the same thing but neither can divulge that information.

I’d love to give you more info but I don’t want to give anything away. Just pick up this book and start reading it, A.S.A.P., you won’t regret it.

Such a thought-provoking story! Sasha has conflicts, Connelly has conflicts...resolving them and staying true to their beliefs and each other is the real challenge that needs resolution. The story propels them to make decisions they didn't expect. Miller weaves those scenes with scenes of domestic bliss that make the choices all the more stark. Miller doesn't shrink from addressing difficult issues from current events in this series!

***I received an ARC of Intentional Acts.

Sasha agrees to help with a pro-Bono case that sets her in direct conflict with her husbands jobs for the anti-terrorist force. Neither knows what the other is involved with at the beginning but eventually come face to face when things come to a head. These books are always an enjoyable read.

I have read all of Melissa's novels and was very happy to receive an ARC of her latest novel! If you haven't read the Sasha series, do it now! Intentional Acts, the latest in the series doesn't disappoint and keeps you wanting more! Action, suspense and especially, the sassy lawyer Sasha and her handsome husband Leo makes for an excellent story.

I was fortunate to receive an eArc for this book from Melissa. The story is no less than a treat for every Sasha and Leo fan. Filled with twists and turns, the book is a real page turner. The story is high on both adrenaline and emotions at the same time.
It is after a while that we get to see Leo in some action of his own and the dilemma of his conscience is as honest as it gets.

Another strong book in this wonderful series! Leo and Sasha are facing new professional challenges, but this time they are facing them independently. The issues are thought provoking and complex. I love that Melissa Miller continues to develop her characters and keeps the plots fresh and intriguing. This series just keeps getting better and better. A great read that was over way too soon.

While this book seemed short, partly because it is a quick read, I suppose, there was some mild mystery and action. Perhaps it was a little light on both of those aspects and thus, I did not find it as compelling as some other books in this series.

When I initially marked this as currently reading, I was just finished with 14 novels in a different series and headed out for a family reunion near Ann Arbor, MI. I actually just started reading this today and am now finished. Oddly, as I had noted when I first started reading this author, one of my cousins was named Melissa Miller (different middle initial, and before she was married) and lives in Pittsburgh, the same city as Sasha and Melissa F. Miller, the author. My cousin is not a lawyer but does work with musical mysteries, at least. She is like 20 years younger than me, and I have not seen her since she was quite young, maybe ten, and of course a few times before that all the way back to age 2 months. I met up with her and family when my brother and I started out on a canoe trip down the Ohio River from Pittsburgh to Lawrenceburg, IN, about 800 kilometers (500 miles), in June of 2021. She was at the reunion, along with 54 others, including 5 (out of 6) of my siblings. This whole paragraph has pretty much nothing to do with the book or any review, I just wanted to point out these related details.

I should mention that I am like 25% along in that book on Chinese history (Northern and Southern dynasty period) that I actually started reading on August 3.

A simple data breach case turns into so much more for Sasha while Leo's orders put him on the hunt for an elusive person from there we see their individual work ending up blending together with neither of them knowing leaves you biting your nails as with the orders Leo has been given could change everything. This really is the book that finally pits their careers and relationship to the test so not only are we trying to work out what really is going on with Essiah Wheaton both from Sasha's side but also Leos and working out if their marriage will still be together after all is revealed. There are plenty of twists, surprises, nail biting moments as well as a puzzle to keep you hooked!

Sasha and Leo's jobs are on a crash course and neither realize it. Sasha discovers the coincidence and is shocked that her husband may be involved in an assassination until she thinks more clearly. I found the story compelling, though I was a little put off that Sasha would have so many doubts about Leo after all the adventures they have had over their years. In this story, Sasha' Krav Maga skills seem to have left her. She has never been bested by anyone in any of the other novels that I can recall, and yet has difficulty with a proven oaf in the end.

What would happen if your name and other info was exposed in a computer breach?

Enjoyed this book, full of twists, thrills and mystery. Gave 5 stars because it kept my attention, beginning to end with all its action. Readers who like suspense, mystery and thrillers would also enjoy this book. Being book #11 in the series, recommend beginning with book #1 to become familiar with the characters though.

I thoroughly enjoyed the latest installment of Sasha and Leo's story. There are times I want to sit Sasha down and have a chat with her about showing Leo a little more understanding BUT I also understand why she gets wound up. I felt like this book got back to the way these books were before (the last one didn't set quite right with me for a few reasons though it all ended well) and I am so thankful. Definitely one of my all-time favorite book series!

Unexpected Developments

Another well-plotted, well-written thriller. It’s a definite page turner that also leaves some real-world issues for readers to contemplate. I suspect these issues will surface periodically as the series continues. I think this is a good thing because I appreciate it when my mind candy comes with a helping of nutritious content for my brain to chew on.

It had to happen ....Sashas’ ethics

It had to happen! Sashas’ ethics & Leo’s mystery job clash head on in the same case no less unbeknownst to one another. Melissa Miller embroils our wedded duo in another terrorist, murder for hire, impersonation & fascinating code cracking all in a day’s work & securing their home from bad guys with toddler toys!

Sasha and Connelly on opposite sides?

Both Sasha and Connelly have jobs that have them keeping secrets from each other but this time really puts their love and marriage to the test. Will they be able to survive it? This is another amazing book in this series. I read it out of order and it didn't make me feel like I was missing anything vital to the story.

Another enjoyable thriller!

Sasha and Leo appear to be on opposing sides as their jobs point them at the same person. A government agency says one thing, while the facts in the field day something entirely different! This story will keep the reader guessing!

Finally Sasha Returns!!

I have enjoyed Melissa F Miller since her very first Sasha McCandless novel. Intentional Acts checks all the boxes, a wonderful novel that kept me guessing. I can't get enough of this author, she is too notch.

Sasha started to get on my nerves in this installment. She was too high strung and moody. She had her intern trembling and was constantly giving Leo grief that he just tolerated in his pleasantness. (He seems to be too good to be true at times as well, now that I think about it.) However, as the story progressed she came out of her funk--or maybe as the pave picked up we got to focus on issues beyond her self absorbed concerns, which interested me far more. The ethical issue at the crux of the novel pits Sasha as lawyer doing her job versus Leo as government agent doing his. When someone dies things come to a head!

Worth a read

A good read and interesting addition to the Sasha mccandless series. The tensions created by the roles of the characters give this novel a bit more depth.
