The Rookies #1

The Quarterback

Rate this book
The climb doesn't stop at the summit.

I'm not the typical cocky quarterback that wins every game he plays and scores with all the cheerleaders.

And a few nerdy chicks thrown in there...because I don't discriminate.

Yeah, I'm the winningest QB in my college's history. But there's more to me than championships and MVPs. There's a reason why I'm the best collegiate quarterback to ever play the game.

I had to be. It was my obsession.

My escape.

Now I've made it. Drafted by the newest NFL team, I have a contract worth millions. My sister and I never have to worry about anything ever again. I can relax.

Except I can't. I have to carry a team or I'll be benched. A leader is only as good as the pressure he can take.

But at some point, there has to be a release.

If I don't stop the train I'm on, my wreck is going to be getting cut before I ever take my first NFL snap.

This little mouse of a crisis manager thinks she'll divert me from catastrophe. All she has to do is manipulate the story and spin it in my favor. But she's new at the game, too. And when she discovers my past, they'll be nothing she can say to fix this mess.

I've reached the summit, but it's a long way down.

The story wasn't bad it was more dramatic than romance, I really wouldn't consider it a romance since there was barely anything showing it. I did read it til the end and then was highly disappointed with it, it could have really had an epilogue to bring everything together, however it did not so I am not really thinking that I would continue..

This was a good story but not enough romance and the ending was rushed. The romance took a back seat to their careers. I did love the strong roles that the women played in the story. They had power. Landyn just graduated from college. He was a superstar in college. Now he is the number one draft pick of the new NFL franchise team, The Richmond Rhinos. He is enjoying his new status to the fullest. He is having fun and loving life. However, the tabloids are killing his rep. That's where Rose comes in. She is a fixer. She is supposed to come in and fix his rep and make everyone think he is a great guy. However, this is her first job. She is a little insecure and timid in the beginning. Landyn calls her Little Mouse. By the end of the story, Rose has become a lion. She is confident and strong. The couple goes through a lot career wise due to Landyn and his issues. The pressures they both face, his past and their mutual attractions become distractions. It is not a new trope but still entertaining

Overall this was a good read. Landyn has become the new upcoming quarterback. However, he seems to like to party. This is where Rose comes in. She is paid to help him get a better image. Everything was going well until his father shows up. Needless to say. he was bad father and of course is up to no good. Thankfully everything works out in the end.

The Quarterback and Little Mouse -- well, that didn't really go over well with me. She proved to be more than some rodent -- in fact, she was the BIG CHEESE! And she helped save his butt! Yes, it's a trope that's been done a zillion times over in the sports-related romance genre. This one, however, had a little more bite to it. It also had some real solid depth to it as well. I liked the way the author steered the characters and the plotline. At first that dang quarterback wasn't on my BFF list -- but as with so many others, he proved himself. And everything went according to plan. We ended with a happy for now plan -- but it appears the characters here will make appearances in the upcoming installments to this brand new series. This is a new-to-me author and her writing was well-paced. She seemed versed in her subject matter and other than a few small editing problems here and there, a good product.

I sure would be happy to see some new plotlines in these sports-related romances.

>Book Review – The Quarterback
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st book in the Rookies series and ends in an HEA. Landyn rose above his abusive upbringing to gain a huge contract as an NFL quarterback. He is partying too much, causing management to assign him a “fixer” to help his image. Rose just started her new job and is given a huge chance at fixing the QB for a brand new NFL team. I love how Rose is attracted to Landyn, yet keeps her professionalism and really has great ideas as to how to help him.
>Landyn is not the most likable character, but he means well. Together, Rose and Landyn learn to have fun. The food fight scene is my favorite in the book. Landyn realizes how self-centered he is and tries to be a true leader for his team.
> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The relationship between Rose and Landyn is great, but this is a football book, so some football scenes would be good

COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN
by Dolores

I received this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review.

This is my first book by Zoë Lane & I couldn't put it down. There was such DEEP determination/belief from the start, then we get to see how Deep & Traumatic Langdon Gallagher's the college graduate & New QB for the new NFL team all of whom are college graduates. (& his younger sister Lacey lives growing up)
Though Langdon's first couple of months of joining the Richmond Rhinos he does a complete 360 turn to what he's done & believed & gives himself a bad now, when
Where the GM Rochelle brings in a Crisis Manager, Rose Mackleby who hasn't been doing out very long & here we see how she turns not just Langdon's life around but hers also.

Loved this thought provoking & strong storyline book...

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Landyn and Rose. She's a fixer and is working for a prestigious for it's been hard by the new NFL team in Virginia. The rhinos. Landyn is the first draft pick, the starting quarterback and a hotshot with a huge ego. Rose has been hired because Landyn keeps getting into trouble. She has two weeks to get his reputation in order. Unfortunately his and his sister's past has come to haunt them, their dad who abused them as children, has shown up and it's causing problems. With Rose's help they will be able to overcome all the tension and have a stellar start to the season. Landyn and Rose realize that the other makes then a better person. Great story with great characters.

A well written story with nice storyline and plot. Characters with great chemistry but unfortunately it was more focused on drama than romance. Well defined characters who develops nicely. A story that could have been filled with more romance and steam but it is still worth the read.
It is written in dual POV which gives the reader more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters and brings the story closer. I would have liked an epilogue to end the story in a better way. The theme has been written a lot of times in sports romances. The woman who has to save his reputation and they fall for each other. Drama and problems turns up and they have to solve them.
Entertaining and enjoyable read.

First Book I have read by Zoe. Yes she gained a fan. I absolutely loved this one. So well written intense story line and intense characters. All he wanted to do was play football. But he lets the past catchup to him and he starts to change. In steps the "fixer". Someone that can keep him looking good in the spot light. But the past will never go away. Amazing storyline. Intense and so gripping at times. Had your attention right from the beginning. Added bonus this is about baseball. Can't wait to read more from Zoe.Highly recommend.

She hates jocks as they all big headed and have a string of girls. He hates nerds and now she was to follow him around. He was just one mistake from losing everything and she is there to help him. What can they not stop thinking about the other? What will happen between them? See what will happen when trouble comes to them

This is a 4.5 stars, the end fell short for me. That is why it's not 5 stars. This was a hot, steamy, pretty clean sports romance!! It needs more of an ending. But I love the characters, the hero was dirty talking and sexy!! The heroine was strong, assertive and smart!! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a sports romance.

The book wasn’t bad, truth is this plot has been made a thousand times so it’s nothing new but it’s compelling. You can’t stop reading but I felt the ending was a little bit rushed. I think it had the potential to be great but I feel like it wasn’t completely finished, like there are many questions unanswered.
If you want a fun, easy-reading in one sitting story, this is for you.

This story has been done but not nearly as well as this one. I think I fell in love with the characters and their stories. The pacing of the story was excellent. I look forward to more of this series.

It was okay. Some good parts. It is a good story line with good characters. Doesn't flow smoothly and needs a more in depth ending. I was given a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.

What a great sports romance, with some drama and a hard to get lover., overcoming all sorts of adverse situations. Will there be a HEA?

Great story. I have a new book a boyfriend and his name is Landon. What he accomplished, what he overcame, and his sex appeal came through.
