The sexy and commanding Hunter King thought he had his hands full helping Arizona through her difficult time as she struggled with her past, her addictions, and their budding relationship. But when his brother and fellow Special Agent, Graham King disappears on a mission then returns wounded; his strength will be tested even further. Graham heads to recover in London by his brother’s side, but his injuries are more than skin deep and he’s nursing more than physical wounds.
Kitty Berry grew up an only child who never wished for a sibling in a small town in Connecticut. After graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Special Education, she began teaching in the field and started to raise a family. Her literary influences happened later in life when she stumbled upon The Pilot’s Wife by Anita Shreve after seeing it featured on the Oprah Show. It was her late mother’s (whose name she uses as a pen name) desire of becoming a writer that prompted Kitty to create a contemporary romantic series. Being a creative person by nature who came into writing during a time in her life when the busy balance of career and family made her crave an escape into the world of romance, Kitty took that desire and turned it into a romantic series that offers the reader multidimensional characters. In 2013, she published her first novel from The Stone Series, Sliding. Since then she has written 10 other novels in that series, among them Stoned, Second Chances, Surrender, Starting Over, and Silence. The final installment, Survivor was released in 2016. A holiday edition was released in late 2018. Since then, Berry has released a trilogy titled, The Anatomy of Love and written a carry-over stand-alone novel, Vines of Ivy. In 2019, she released the Compatible Companions Trilogy. Because angst-ridden, plot-driven, women's contemporary romances mesmerize Kitty, Berry writes only in that genre. While each book in The Stone Series can stand alone with its own story, Berry’s intention was to create carry-over characters to satisfy the need of the reader to know more after each novel ends. As an avid reader herself, Kitty enjoys the feeling of being there with the characters inside the story and often finds herself wanting to know more about them, missing them when the story is over, and becoming excited all over again when she discovers those familiar characters in subsequent novels. It is her hope that The Stone Series will do the same for her readers. Kitty is married to a man she met in graduate school and has three boys who are almost men. Kitty recently founded RomantiConn (a romance author signing event annually held in CT) and is currently working on the Falls Village anthology hybrid with her fellow RomantiConn authors. Just when you think this series can not get any better, this story will blow you away. We learn more about what happened to Graham and how his meeting Emory helps his recovery. We learn more about Nix and Bailey's story along with that of Hunter and Arizona, and Harper and Ashton. The ladies cause quite a commotion when they try to pull something over on their men. Will the mystery of how Graham got injured come to light? This story has lots of hot steamy romance, humor, suspense, and absolutely fascinating characters.
This book leaves me with more questions than answers and I am so glad I have the next book in line. Between the Hunter/Arizona and Graham/Emory storylines, Kitty also throws the reader on an adventure that I could not put down. I need more ASAP!!
This was my first book from Kitty Berry & she blew me away with this book! I have started reading the Stone series from book 8 which is not something I ever do but even though I didn't start at the beginning I was still able to connect with the characters because they were so well written. I also loved that the book doesn't just focus on one male & female lead. There were multiple couples in this book and each got to have their story told without taking away from any of the others. And I must say that Kitty can really write some hot scenes! I was expecting/hopeful that there would be some sexy scenes because honesty to me its not a romance novel without them but I was not expecting that level of hotness! I loved each character for both their flaws & strengths so it's impossible for me to choose a favourite. I really want to know what is going to happen between Graham & Emory but I also want to go back to the beginning to see where it all began & also get to read more about how Nix & Bailey's relationship came about. If Kitty is a new author to you as she was to me I would really suggest you give this series a go. I know I will definitely continue reading this series as well as going back & starting from the beginning so I can catch up on all to great stuff I know I have missed out on.
