Reaching: A Creative Writing Workbook is a resource book for creative writing. The book contains prompts that can help others create poetry, essays, prose, fiction, song lyrics, and other forms of writing. The sections in the book include Reaching In: Bearing Witness to Ourselves and Reaching Out: Bearing Witness to Others.
Caits Meissner, author of The Letter All Your Friends Have Written You, a collaborative poetry book with poet Tishon, is a writer, multi-disciplinary storyteller and arts educator. Winner of the OneWorld Poetry Contest, Caits attended the 2008 inaugural Pan-African Literary Forum in Accra, Ghana where she studied under Pulitzer Prize winner Yusef Komunyakaa. In 2007, Caits was a finalist for the Poets & Writers sponsored Amy Award and in 2010, a fellowship winner for the Summer Literary Seminars Kenya conference.
With roots in the performance poetry community, Caits has featured at some of the country’s most important spoken word venues such as the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and louderArts. Her well-received poetry/music EP, The Wolf & Me, was released in May 2010 to positive reviews on popular urban music websites such as Okayplayer. In addition to her own self-released work, Caits has been published in various literary journals including The Literary Review Magazine and The Oriel Review, and in anthologies such as His Rib, Got Poetry 2007 and Saul Williams' forthcoming anthology, CHORUS. She has curated poetry readings for five seasons at the historic La MaMa Experimental Theater and at the 2009 Brooklyn Honors Spike Lee three day festival. Currently, Caits serves as an Editor for the literary press Well&Often.
